Upgrading CataclysmFollow

Hi, I downloaded cata from a torrent, dump does not has Repair.exe, launcher.exe, and Blizzard updater.exe. Wow.exe opens as 4.0.6 (13623) so I downloaded all the files manually to update... it didn't work, it showed the following error.

"The update was cancelled.
The patch "pc-battlenet-hdfiles\Battle.net.dll" could not be applied. (MD5 mismatch: expected 0x016227FCED056EE55CFC3187FB4DF277, actual 0x26A7936587A36839B2471E960EA5B33C.)(PTCApply_BSDi ff failed.) If this problem persists, you may be able to solve it by uninstalling and then reinstalling the game. If you are unable to correct this problem, please contact Blizzard Technical Support. (BNUpdate:TCApply)"

When I opened data folder it has

wow-update-base-13914.MPQ
wow-update-base-14007.MPQ
wow-update-base-14333.MPQ
wow-update-base-14480.MPQ
wow-update-base-14545.MPQ
wow-update-base-14946.MPQ
wow-update-base-15005.MPQ
wow-update-base-15050.MPQ
wow-update-base-15211.MPQ
wow-update-base-15354.MPQ
wow-update-base-15595.MPQ

I found that these files are of 4.3.4 pach. but still when i open wow.exe it still show it as 4.0.6. I dont have repair.exe, where can I download it (I really hope old gods doesnt take me). My internet doesnot allow me to download from blizzard site, so I have to download manuly. Thank you.

You may have a bad download. Since the numbers didn't match, there may be things in there that would put your account at risk. Look around and see if you can find a better supported stream. If you accept the risk of getting hacked (and I don't know why you would), try backing everything up and doing a reinstall as they suggest.

Yeah I'd be willing to go with the Malware infested .dll file guess myself.

Downloading anything of Blizzard's from a Third Party Website is pretty much a huge no-no. You'd be better off borrowing install discs from a friend, or asking a friend to .iso them for you.

And also: Why do you want _Cataclysm_ patches? If you want to play WoW on Live Servers, get a copy of MoP (even if your account isn't upgraded to MoP) and install the latest patches for your WoW Client.

Otherwise, Is this some kind of Private Server BS?

If so, that's directly against forum rules.

And if your college internet blocks Blizzard's "site" (their domain?) then how are you able to play WoW in the first place?

Why would they be blocking their site? And also what Lyrailis said.

It's possible OP was wanting to play on some private servers. In that case, we can't help on this forum.

That's the first thing that came to my mind, TBH.

1). He wants *Cataclysm* patches, not MoP's. Even if you're playing on an account that does not have MoP flagged, you still need to download the latest patch (5.4.7) to play on Official Live Servers (you just won't be able to access the things that require MoP, like Jade Forest, etc), and therefore, don't need the 4.x patches (5.0 brings the game up to 5.0 despite anything before it being missing).

2). He says he can't download from Blizzard because of his college network rules. I've heard of similar things (colleges, etc restricting some domains), but if us.battle.net is restricted... that means he's not logging on to WoW even if he did have a fully-downloaded client.

So yeah, 99% chance this is a private server thing IMO.

I dunno. I had issues downloading patches for WoW when I lived in the dorms too. A lot of colleges restrict access to P2P servers to cut down on pirating. I'd say it's pretty probable that the OP isn't doing anything wrong and just can't DL patches if he doesn't have access to internet somewhere besides his university. I didn't even play WoW while I lived in the dorms because of this issue. Well, and also because I was too poor.

But then, again, why is he downloading 4.x patches when the 5.0 megapatch covers everything prior to it, and the Live Servers will demand 5.4.7 even if you don't have MoP purchased on your account.

This is a common problem. You need to contact Blizzard Support. I suggest you send them an email with the details, and be sure to include a telephone number so they can reach out for you.

I'm sure they've encountered this issue before, and I'm equally certain they have a team that is designated in-house to deal with this issue.

He's not smart?

Honestly though, that's a fair point. I missed that part of the conversation apparently.
