I'm pretty sure I stumbled upon the new hot zone quests (and thus some of the new hotzones). They center around Aiden Silverwing in Crescent Reach, who is on the ground underneath the dragons. He's basically lost some family heirlooms that he wants you to recover. You don't have to talk to him first to get the quest. If you find the heirloom, it gives you the quest when you loot it.

The essence of the quest is that in one hotzone, you get a piece of jewelery, and in the next higher hotzone, you get a shard that you can combine with the piece of jewelery from the previous hotzone (in a container that Aiden Silverwing gives you) to form a better piece of jewelery. The items appear to be random drops from any mob in the zone. So far, I've uncovered the following hotzones:

Lvl 20: Mistmoore
Lvl 25: Permafrost
Lvl 30: Trakanon's Teeth
Lvl 35: Warsilik's Woods
Lvl 40: Dawnshround Peaks
Lvl 45: Velketor's Labyrinth

I stumbled on this while in Permafrost so that's where I started the quest. So far I have combined:

Silverwing Loop (from Mistmoore) with Glinting Shard (from Permafrost) to form Glinting Loop of the Silverwing

Silverwing Circlet (from Permafrost) with Radiant Shard (from Trak) to form Radiant Band of the Silverwing

Silverwing Choker (from Trak) with Fiery Shard (from Warsiliks) to form Scintillating Lavaliere of the Silverwing

Silverwing Emblem (from Warsiliks) with Gleaming Shard (from Dawnshroud) to form Lustrous Insignia of the Silverwing

Also found an aug in Dawnshroud: Glinting Sunstone

That's all the info I was able to gather tonight. If I find more I'll post it.

I would be thrilled to see those as hotzones. I have enjoyed them on many occasions and visit sometimes just for fun.

I assume the silverwing drops in the zones mentioned are not yet on the Live servers since I just recently wiped Permafrost clean of goblins several times and didn't see the Silverwing Circlet drop, unless something else drops the circlet.

I got the circlet to drop from an ice goblin near the archaeologist. A GM on Test last night mentioned that these will go in with the next patch and that they may already be live on Test. I was in lower level zones so all the mobs were grey to me. So I can't say if the new hotzones are activated for higher XP, but at least the quests seem to be in on Test. I would assume that they would be on the Live servers by the time the new expansion launches at the latest.

Does anyone know what shards are needed for the upper level items? I have the Silverwing Facemask, Silverwing Shoulderpads and Silverwing Belt.

Here is the link to the quest giver. All his quests are listed on his page:

The questgiver is now in POK, near the GL. You also get a nice, big box free - starts by looting the first item in Castle Mistmoor (or did for me). The earring in MM drops after a while if you grind there. Gives you the quest when you loot it (to find the guy in pok).

But the shard in Perma... and the item there - those seem much slower to drop.

Aug items still drop off "changelings" in Unrest, btw.

you can combine all the drops you get from the silverwing quest in the box to get a new charm that powers up the more time your character has played, too. Max stats are 30ac and 165 hps/man/end. I'd reccomend removing any augments from them first, tho.
