Yther should be a guru.

Look at the body of work (just recently)

DX issues
in game maps
chat font
buff level limits

Maybe it exists, but I have never seen a rated down Yther post (in years of alla lurking & posting) and an almost 1500 post-count equates to a lot of helpful postings.

I have no personal connection to Yther, but I'd like to see that name in red text. An actively posting EQ playing Guru with a legitimate post count to rating ratio is something that would be nice to see... top contender = Yther in my books.

Now of course, Zam admin could always do a peek in and bump Yther to guru. I think they'd find it's the early posting history (not rated up enough) but getting a solid post-count laid down before becoming the super-helpful Yther we all know is the only factor preventing the "red ding".

However, there's a lot of us scholars and sages still looking at these boards --so I'm appealling to you. Let's give Yther his/her due.

At the very least, Yther --please consider this (possibly bizarre) thread a public thank you.

Second the motion!
Although I think Snailish and Jonwin should run close behind as I always check to see what they have to say about things...

Yay on the bold. It's time to paint Yther red.

I chuckle that you check on what I say, but that is mutual. The thing is, we have been guilded in the past (and would be right now if we actually played on the same days in the same timezone) so that makes us rather biased no? For the same reason it would be odd of me to say anything about Jonwin, who I have probably talked to in game the most of anyone the last few weeks. Lol...

If anyone else does agree with the intent of this thread and has rating power, the linked threads in the OP are fresh enough that you can rate there still.

What I think happens too is people see the good post, note that it's excellent (one rate-up on Yther moves the post from good to excellent) and don't think a further rate-up matters --but they all count. I'm curious how many rate up to Yther in just those 4 threads it would take to make a difference?

Thank you, everyone for the support. I hadn't replied in knowing about the forum changes coming, that the new karma bonus for time would have put me to guru, although, I'm not sure if that was retro-active or not. Anyway, it'll come eventually.

I have been rated down at least a few times that I know of. Some were very reasonable, as I misread something or misinterpreted it, and showed support for a really bad idea, that I misinterpreted as being an ok idea (even what I thought, wasn't a great idea, but reasonable). Anyway, most of those were from non-regular EQ forum users. Not all though.

I think I am much like alot of the EQ forum users in that I'm not quick to down rate someone, unless they're making personal attacks (and thinking about one of my rate downs, I could see how they had thought I had made such an attack when it was really suppose to be sublime compliment on their memory, intended to be sarcastically humorous, but intended as a compliment (tone is sometimes hard to interpret on forums).

Thinking of a few others, I made comments without indicating that I didn't disagree with established facts, but that my anecdotal experience led me to believe their may be something more behind whatever, or the original parsing may not have included all the parameters involved. One good example, is I've said that proc rates seem to about 1 / minute despite level and Dex (assuming a relatively high to start with 125+ to 255, and short level span of 1-45ish on several toons), but didn't mention that was in actual real fights that are short 20-60secs, but pretty much non-stop, not the continuous hours long parsing which indicates it is higher at higher levels and higher Dex. Of course I didn't explain that it was normal short lived fights.

And although I don't think I was ever rated down (or if I was, I was also rated up) for long, drawn out arguments about why opinions (not descriptions) are irrelevant, and often thought I might, as many people think opinions are descriptions. And this forum used to get tons of what's your opinion questions which get very annoying if you read them all, because what they really want is a description of the aspects you like and dislike and why you do, which is basically the same as a review of the game, of which their are many for the whole game, in general, as well as individual expansions. And even asking for a some reviews just seems better than (why) do you like it? Because opinions of strangers (those who you don't know their opinions on other subjects to know how similar theirs are to yours) seems worthless to me, other than descriptions they may include.

Something else I probably should note, is even though I still have quiver haste listed as WR / 3 on my wiki page, there have been some recent parses that indicate it is calculated differently, and depends alot on the bow's delay, even show much that a lower WR may be more appropriate than a higher one. I just haven't researched it enough to see if others have confirmed it, or even tested it out thoroughly enough myself.

Ok, I've rambled on enough, although maybe it will provide some insight. The important thing is, I really appreciate the support, and guru will eventually come, and probably isn't already because out of my first 100 posts, only 1 or 2 were excellent, and only a few were even good.

Again, thank you all so much,

Yther Ore.

Stopped logging in long ago, but will gladly log in once to show support of Yther and the few others who fairly consistently churn out quality information - you guys are what keep EQ fun and make this site a worthwhile place to seek information still, despite the, err.. changes. Please keep it up, it's hugely appreciated.

And on to something specific: Quiver haste is borked, has been for a long time. The newest ('fastest') quiver actually decreases your archery DPS in many cases. EQOutrider has a lot of info about it, look HERE to get a feel for the issue.

I never post here anymore for whatever reason, despite still lurking sporadically. I'll have to pop in to those threads now and add to the cause.
