A real life friend just came back to the game, he decided rogue was the way (so I rolled one to play along with him). We played a few hours in Gloomingdeep and Lake of Ill Omen and made mad XP.

We know about defiant and found the new poison vendor in LoIO (assume there are more elsewhere?).

Baz has minimal defiant under elaborate tier, and weapon selection is extremely poor --I remember a day when it seemed like half the weapons for sale in baz were rogue only.

We both have silver-petaled clubs, and decent piercers for when we are level 65-70... its the interm that is lacking.

We seek some advice on some fun things we can do presently (low 20s) and as we level towards 60, and anything a rogue can do to maximize the skillset of the class.

Input on some classic rogue gear (pretend there is no defiant) would help too. If it is an old boss mob we do have the ability to enlist a 70 necro.

Mrylokar gear we know about.

serrated bone dirk and its fabled counterparts & beyond we know about.

Obtenebrate Short Sword we know about.

Other rogue essentials/novelties we could use ideas on.

Doing befallen is fun for a rogue, cause of the locked doors you can practice on...not very good loot, but my rogue ( boxed with a monk ) loved it there...( oh, and the well you can practice safe fall onSmiley: sly)

When you get into your 45-'50's...Howling stones would be fun, mobs drop ok loot ( to redeem for cash )...most are undead so don't run...the short sword drops there...AND ALOT OF LOCKED DOORS.

One of my favorite Rogue threads.

A brief overview of new Rogue Poison quests.

I'd recommend working on Make Poison right away, just do to the fact, that the best poisons, you can't skill up on, so keeping your skill up will help keep you current.

Some of best tradeable twink Backstabbers:
The Horn of Hsagra : 13/20
Frozen Shard : 13/26
Small Dragonbone Shard : 13/26
Exquisite Velium Spear : 12/20
Fanged Skull Stiletto : 12/22
Fester : 12/23
Sharpened Mandible Spear : 12/24
Shaded dagger : 11/22
Sebilite Croaking Dirk : 10/18
Crescent Blades of Luclin : 10/18
Trakasaur's Tooth : 10/20

Of these, I usually hunted the Sharpened Mandible Spear, although his respawn is 24hrs, so may take a while to get 2, and Shaded Dagger. These 2 are also, generally cheap when in the bazaar. A few others, either that didn't make the DPS cut or are No Trade.

Yttrium Dagger : 11/18 - If you get your smithing skill up to around 100, and hae someone make the Yttrium Sheets for you.
Blood Point : 10/21
Crystalline Spider Fang : 10/22 - One of my all time favorite twinkish piercers. Procs at 1st level.
Slime Coated Harpoon : 10/25
Spine Chill Spear : 10/28

I'm not up on the new poisons that much, but I used to use Slow Poisons alot at lower levels for soloing or even tanking in a group. Slow is a ton of aggro, and made soling Yellow cons pretty easy until the 50s when the poisons started getting resisted, at which point I should of switched to using proc-based poisons (like the new system), but never got around to doing the stuff needed to make them.

Intimidate is often an overlooked skill that you should try to keep up. With snare weapons / poisons / procs, intimidate will make soloing alot easier and faster.

Alot of zones with Rog-required doors and other Roguish hazards. Sol B, Seb, Ssra, VT, but as you can see, Yen already mentioned the few lower level ones.

That's about all I can think of at the moment. Rog specific armor, is mostly covered under the first link above, and is mostly clickies which are nice. If it's not like the Shrunken Goblin Skull Earring is nice Attack boost. Skills you can find mostly under the skills link to the left.

I always like the Fungi tunic from Seb for the Regen, and there's a GoD BP with 15 regen with alot better stats when you hit upper 40s or low 50s (forget the required level). It's 55 req :( Baleful Blood Soaked Cuirass.

Two very helpful replies, thanks to you both. Hopefully this information keeps my friend engaged with the idea of roguing it up.
