This is my best guess at the new augs, based on what has been submitted to Lucy to date. The only ones I can personally verify are the augs for Dawnshroud Peaks and Velketor's Labyrinth, as those are the ones I have looted. I'm pretty sure about the ones for HoH and NC. Of course, please correct me if I've made any mistakes (or verify any that you can) and I'll see if I can get the missing/unverified ones this weekend.

Level 20: Castle Mistmoore - Polished Crysolite
Level 25: Permafrost Keep - Chunk of Amorphous Granite
Level 30: Trakanon's Teeth -
Level 35: Warsliks Wood -
Level 40: Dawnshroud Peaks - Glinting Sunstone
Level 45: Velketor's Labyrinth - Frozen Spider Eye
Level 50: The Deep - Coagulated Darkness
Level 55: Temple of Droga - Fossilized Bone Shard
Level 60: Nobles' Causeway - Cracked Gem of Lucidity
Level 65: Halls of Honor - Crest of Valor

I've killed hundreds of mobs in DSP and have not seen a single one drop. Anyone able to offer some advice? Maybe I'm not killing the right ones . . .

Only one I've seen dropped off a Rockhopper. Cleared tunnel about 15-20 times before it dropped, cleared another 10+ times and never got another to drop, but lots of ppl in the zone killing, so may have dropped on other mobs.

If it makes you feel any better Renaissance, all of the hotzone augs are quite rare but seem to be true zonewide drops. It took me 7-8 hours in Halls of Honor for that aug, and I've invested something in the neighborhood of 14 hours in Noble's Causeway with no luck yet on an aug drop.

Plug away long enough there and you'll get it...eventually...if your sanity can hold out...

Duly noted. I guess my other augement experiences have been lucky, because in less than half the time in Netherbian I found it twice, and within 10 pulls in Scarlet Desert I found that augment twice also.

And thank you, Yther, I'll change my focus to the rockhoppers next time I visit.

I think Saeel was referring to just the newest hot zones augs. I've had very little trouble with previous hot zone sets, 'cept on rare occasions, and even those were much shorter than it took me in DSP (16 cycles is around 4hrs, and it may been longer).

Although I still haven't seen the one in the Hole nor Infected Paw yet, but I've mostly only killed at the zone ins for both of those, and never really tried to get the augs, as I was just there for xp.

I've had very little luck with the newest hot zones on the other hand.

This thread was a good idea, and bbot, thanks for continuing to edit the original post.

I love free augs.

I know it's not in the topic, but how about some other free augs that are easy to get? Like from monster missions and tasks.

Scout Madu in Goru`Kar Mesa offers a series of 5 tasks that result in your choice of 4 different augs. The task is repeatable, so you can get all the ones you want. They say recommended level 50 but the augs are usable by level 43 and I think the task giver will offer it to you around that level.

Task 1: Research the Dromrek. Just run around the zone a bit.
Task 2: Task 2: Parlay with the Dromrek. Kill a few of the mini named giants.
Task 3: Soothe the Savage Beast? A bit of legwork and a little camping in Stone Hive.
Task 4: Parlay with the Dromrek, Again. Use a bixie stick to mez and hail the mini named giants.
Task 5: Reduce the Dromrek Threat. Kill the boss giant.

It's rough to do this around the recommended or minimum level, you'd need some good groupage for the final fight. I don't think it becomes soloable until around late 50s or early 60s for some classes. The two best augments for my money are the https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=52926]+10ac/hp/mana/end[/link">link=https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=52926]+10ac/hp/mana/end[/link and the https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=52927]+20hp/mana/endur_+3regen/ds[/link">link=https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=52927]+20hp/mana/endur +3regen/ds[/link.

The Sphere of the Ancient Quest (starts in Crescent reach, involves the undead Ogre Tower in the Northwest of Blightfire)

https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=3712

results in a +1 mana regen, +5 mana, +5 endurance, +5 attack augment

usable at level 23.

Considering the cost of other +1 mana regen augments (Radiant crystals, LDoN points, Baz, etc.) and the req. level its hard to beat this one.

Note to the low-levelled: the undead ogre tower area is tough. Seems to have been made for groups of the level the mobs con versus solo. I visited at several level intervals (to test it out) on my little necro until I felt safe killing there.

Slipgear's Gem, can already be done at lower levels. You will die quite for sure, but this charm aug is worth it...

Thank you for this post! I adore Mesa and did a couple of the armor quests there. I also just go the Research the Dromrek task assigned last night--thrilled to know the reward is an aug!

There's a Monster Mission in Rivervale where you get to be a zombie and eat halfling brains!!

Brraaaaainss!

This monster mission has a common reward of a neck item usable by all melee classes. The rare reward is a nice AC/HP aug, up to the level 61-80 reward of:

I was wondering if anybody knows the other hotzones from

June 13th, 2006 to December 5th, 2006?

PS- I really like the format BBot set this thread up with (organized original post that keeps getting updated).
#43 Dec 22 2007 at 11:45 AM Rating: Good
Oh yeah, the very first special hotzones only had augs in Skyfire but there were other hotzones with new things.

Some of those hotzones had mobs that would "call for help" and spawn a mob with a new drop.

The Overthere had new mobs and new random drops.

Veksar had new mobs.

I don't recall offhand what the other zones were. I'll look for the patch message.

From the June 13, 2006 patch message:
The Everquest Team wrote:
Level 20: Swamp of No Hope
Level 25: Overthere
Level 30: Timorous Deep
Level 35: Emerald Jungle
Level 40: Dreadlands
Level 45: City of Mist
Level 50: Skyfire
Level 55: Karnor's Castle
Level 60: Veksar

And in the same patch message:

Tip for the Polished Blue Softstone: go to the undead murkglider cave. They drop like candy there.

Here are the augs for the new hotzones. At least the ones that have been discovered so far. For the ones marked "Undiscovered", the link may or may not be valid depending on if the item has been added to the Lucy database since I last updated this list. I'll try to keep tabs on the newly discovered ones and add them as appropriate.

Level 20: North/South Ro - Undiscovered
Level 25: Solusek's Eye - Corrupted Emerald Amulet
Level 30: Blightfire Moors - Corrupted Opal Amulet
Level 35: Stone Hive - Corrupted Sapphire Amulet
Level 40: Dulak's Harbor - Corrupted Citrine Amulet
Level 45: Skyshrine - Undiscovered
Level 50: Akheva Ruins - Corrupted Sunstone Amulet
Level 55: Crypt of Nadox - Corrupted Peridot Amulet
Level 60: Riwwi - Undiscovered
Level 65: Torden, Bastion of Thunder - Corrupted Blue Diamond Amulet
Level 70: Ruins of Illsalin - Corrupted Netherstone Amulet

Compared to the last 2 sets of hotzone augs, these are about as unexciting as Vegemite on melba toast. What a particularly bland and nonchalantly pseudo-useful set. Sigh. I guess they can't knock it out of the park EVERY time.

I have to agree with the sentiment that the new hotzone augs are kinda Meh. They only aug I see that would be useful to me is the one in Nadox.
