Found a question you can edit in
So It seems I have forgotten some of the basics like how to get stuff on the hotbars and such can anyone point me in the right direction to get some info?
To get stuff on hot bars:

Say its a spell you want to put there.
You have a spell memmed on the spell bar.

Put cursor over the spell on the spell bar that you want to move to the hot bar
Hold down the left click button
A new little icon will appear
Drag it to the hot bar number you want to press to cast that spell.
Move you finger up from the left click button.
Voila!

For clickies I think its about the same thing.

I'll check when I get ingame and write down the implicit actions I take to get stuff on the hot bar. If I got it wrong I'll up date my instructions.

If someone else already knows this just correct what I have written.

And a few notes from me - For AAs or leader AAs bring up the applicable window (aa - press V, LAA press L) then select the ability you want, on the right side of the window for AAs it will have a button that says make hot key. Click here and you will have your button. For leadership it's a little different based on things that have 3 ranks (mark npc) -- on the right there is a section called create hotkey with a 1, 2, and 3 under it. Create hotkey one will work for anything with one rank (health of target's target, find path, delegate mark, delegate assist) and the 2 and 3 are used for things with multiple ranks (inspect buffs, and mark npc).
Also there are now 4 hotbars! To bring up your hotbars click on the EQ button in the bottom left corner then go to *actions* and click on which hotbar you want to open. I use all 4. Hotbars one and two are horizontal while three and four are verticle. Bring up your options window *ctrl O* and go to *keys* to change buttons associated with your hotbars, each hotbar has its own selection in the drop down window. The bandolier window also has hotkey creating capabilities - Bring up the bandolier window (B), select the setup you want to hotkey and press "hot button".
Last thing is for clickies. If you use your mouse on clickies make sure you right click on them, otherwise you'll simply be picking them up with your mouse (which isn't good when you're clicking a defensive ability on your BP in combat and accidently unequip it and lose AC in battle)

Besides Necromancer and Bard, are their any classes that solo well and are hunted down to group with?

I would say Shaman and Beastlord. Both are able to solo quite efficiently, and both are of good use for groups due to their buffs. (Raiding may be a different thing, though...)

Also another question, what is the difference between normal PvP and PvE and these "Progression" servers like The Sleeper, and The Combine,

And what would be a Rare class, like the most rare to see, like " Whoa I forgot blah blah blahs exist "

PvP: the Zek Server is the PVP server, PvP only possible within a certain level range (you cannot attack players below/above this range). On all the other servers, PvP is possible only in the Arena or if you duel someone (who has to accept).

PvE: Player vs. environment, which means destructible objects in game (not sure about this)

Progression servers: Servers that unlock the content of each expansion when the expansion before is "completed"; it's like a timeline, the evolution of EQ content. The two progression servers will merge in the near future.

Nope, PvE is anything that isn't PVP. It's the player versus what the game designers make, mobs, puzzles, traps, anything found in the game environment (not a player).
Progression servers only have pvp inside dueling or arenas

Ensong, bbot was right about shammies and beasts, also druids solo well and can be quite useful in groups as healers. Druids can be the main healer in the group if they're decent and the tank isn't undergeared.

I wasn't that clear, I know the difference between PvP and PvE, I play FFXI and WoW. Was mostly wondering about the Progression.

I believe I'm going to pick up the Aniversy edition, I have the Trilogy downloaded now, already paying for a Station Access, should atleast get my moneys worth ;p I play Vanguard and EQII, but EQ has a charm to it, that I want to play thru.
So with these Progression Servers, you can't access the content from the expansions that haven't been unlocked?

Progression servers were intended to make the people that say they missed old eq happy, unfortunately it was really just new eq in old zones. They were all the rage for 5 minutes then from what I understand only the very hardcore stayed there. Yes, on progression you can't access content from expansions that haven't been unlocked. Be aware, progression servers are basically a race right now to see which guild can unlock TBS first and make it just a normal server. If you don't mind that kind of thing (other people being ahead of you in content) then it's not a bad thing, but if that's ok with you than why don't you just play in old zones on a normal server? Aniversary edition is great for EQ, especially if you are just starting out as a low level character.

Well, Antonius Bayle seems fine for me (although I'm level 75). I also hear that Stromm has a healthy population. I haven't played in about a month though (except for raids) so who knows whats changed ;).

Hello,

The first mmorpg game i bought was eq2. My computer did not run it well so i switched to the original eq. I never got to tell how eq2 was due to the major lag i got from it. When i got the original eq everything was fine up till i left the newbie training zone.

I recieved no help in towns or directions. I died several times and had to find my body which took almost over an hour at times. To make it worse, i wasnt thrilled with the fact i loose my stuff if i dont get back to my corpse within a certian amount of time (aka my collectors edition items). The general players offered no help at all on anything i asked ( i assume i was asking basic questions ) and actually responded extremely rudely towards me. I recieved 1 suggestion on what to do which was a trick to get me killed.

Afterwards, i let my subscription run out and switched to WoW. I reached lvl 70 and feel now is a good time to try this game out again.

If there is any guides telling about quests and where to train please post them as well. I never found any, another reason i quit. This sites quest guide is useless to me since i have no clue how to reach those zones.

* was told to post this here but nothing posted here answered my question*

Where ever you learned this it is false information, you do not lose you stuff ever. 3 or 4 years ago you lost stuff if you did not get back to you corpse with in a week. Since then your corpse now goes to the land of the dead, Shadowrest, after a week, and you can get it back forever.

To answer your other questions, log onto your character and type /join general this will enter you into general chat. When in general chat ask if there is a guild looking for newbie players just starting out. You should get answers pretty quickly, ignore any obnoxious ones, you will get some helpful ones. A guild of that type will give you all the help you need. Everquest is much more challenging than a game like WoW, and it can be a little frustating in the begining, but getting past those challlenges can also be part of the accomplishment that endears you to the game and keeps peopl playing for years.

Lag-Killers:

- /showgrass off -- Used to turn off grass models... mainly obsolete in the non-revamped zones, but the newer ones have a lot of grass, which creates a lot of lag.

- /leave <chat channel> -- Oddly enough, the chat channels can create a bit of lag. It's more noticeable during raids, but it is still there.

- Turning off spell particles, environment particles, and player particles is a good way to reduce graphics lag. Another way to do this is by filtering which names you see for players (/showname, I believe is the command. You can choose to show first, first and last, or first, last, title, guild, etc.)

- Turning off/down the sky model always helps. You can choose complex, simple, or off as toggles for the sky. Complex means you see the sun, stars, moon, clouds (that move), and other such things. Simple gets rid of the clouds, and off gets rid of everything.
