This is a thick forest located on a hilly terrain. The east and west sides split into a gorge the further north you go, leading to the continent's coastline.

The Kromdul, a faction of forest giants, have established an outpost here, as have the Cleaving Tooth goblins. The Iksars of Cabilis have very little control over much of the forest, and stick mainly to their city boundaries in the southeast. These woods are also the burial ground of Haggle Baron Dalnir, whose crypt can be found in the northwest section of the forest.

Oh I remember when this was released in April 2000. This zone was amazing for its time. Had so many camps with guildies back then. An all Iksar group we cold blooded it up and must have played for 16 hours straight at our LAN party. My god I've never known gaming, much less a better MMORPG experience in my life and I've been gaming since 1978. So sad we can't ever get that experience back.

I couldn't have said it better. I started gaming in 1982...and you're right..in early 2000, when Kunark was released, it was like a golden age for me. We will never get that experience back, I couldn't have said it better.

Its a good thing that this is a hot zone (currently for 20-25) otherwise I don't think anyone would come here.

The loot is crap, there's no money to be made and the terrain is horrible. You'll constantly be surprised by wandering mobs you can't see coming. Everything is basically set up in groups of three, so a partner or some crowd control are a big help. Best advice I can offer here is stay until you get the augment, the go elsewhere. Even if the XP here is boosted its just not worth staying here for very long.
More like 20-30 hotzone
# Dec 16 2007 at 9:40 PM Rating: Decent
This is indeed a hotzone but more like from 20-30ish. I took my bst to the giant fort at 22 and hunted till 30. At 30 there are still some dbs but most are lb and lower but still good xp. At 29 I was getting almost 2 blues for each db giant killed. I usually move on at 30 but since it's a hotzone now I'll probably look for a spot with more dbs to get a few more lvls.

Not sure. To my surprise This is not a hot zone as far as i can tell. Everything my 36 Necro has found is grey. SO back to Trak Teeth I guess?
Better Brute Location
# Feb 26 2006 at 8:25 AM Rating: Decent
Instead of the enterence to Dalnir, try to entrance to LOIO. When you come up on a junction to go either straight (Leads to LOIO) or left/right the left/right paths go to open caves with three brutes each. They are far part to single pull by just running up to them and smacking them to get their attention or shooting them with an arrow.

Once they start to run their only escape is through the tunnel you just came through to mete them in the first place. You can usually drop them before they reach the main junction. Once the cave is clear you can usually run to the other side all the way past the intersection where there will be another cave with two to three more. Once they are done, turn around run back where you first started Med, rince repeat. Best experience with NO ADDS I know of. Made three levels there alone.
Very good experience: Druid
# Sep 17 2005 at 9:54 PM Rating: Decent
My GOD, was this good experience. I took my druid from the Field of Bone to the Forest Giant fortress/citedal type thing following the road, turned right and hugged inside wall until I got to the corner. Then I meditated until FM. Then I went to the little circle of them and went to the overhang that had no one under it. Then I rooted, doted, rerooted, nuked, nuked, rerooted, redoted, repeat.

I got from 27-28 in 25 minutes, at around 4% per kill.

As a level 26 necro I find this place to be a decent hunting ground with few adventurers to compete with. Especially during non-peak hours, I find myself to be the only one in the zone.

Best place to solo is probably the skulking brutes in the tunnels to the Crypt of Dalnir in the Northwestern most part of the zone. Getting there can be hairy as there are a fair number of potentially dangerous mobs that walk to the very edges of the map. Easiest way to Dalnir is via PoK book to OT and then camo/invis at the WW zone. There quite a few goblin battlemasters and a few iksar exiles that go right up to the zoneline, so it's best not to hang around unless you want to fight a bunch of adds. Then find the entrance to the tunnel system which faces the water and is partially obscured by a coniferous tree.

WW
# Jul 10 2003 at 5:48 AM Rating: Decent
New Player just thought I would give some thoughts on WW. I am playing a Necro mid-20s at the moment.

I first decided to wander into WW and have a look around at around level 18-19. My overwhelming impression was nothing was in here. It is compared to some places a pretty empty zone. I eventually found some giants (at hut 8 on eqatlas map) killed one, pulled two and got slaughtered. Needless to say I was unimpressed with the zone.

I then spent 6 levels or so in OT having a great time. OT seems to have a level "hole" though and in your mid-20s isn't that interesting. Earlier than that go to the North part of the zone and just slaughter most everything you see. Good EP, pretty good loot. Easy fighting.

Then I read a bit more about WW and came back. The Brutes in the Dalnir entrance are a good target, I found pretty decent loot on them (when I didn't lose them through the walls) and generally they are fairly easy to kill.

I also came back to the giants at hut 8 and they are easy to pull as singles, just circle around the hut to get near only one of them. Loot not as good as brutes, but you don't have the pathing problems.

I occasionally get jumped by a goblin (soothsayer, sprititcaller or warlord) so don't run your health mana down too low.

Now I am up to 27 and looking for new fun.

Little Travel Guide
# Jul 05 2003 at 7:02 AM Rating: Decent
In the old times we had to endure to be able to reach WW , not being an iksar of course ... The usual path for good aligned characters was to go via Loio, and that was at least risky if not suicide without an inv-camo. And thou the evil ones had to risk themselves not that much, it wasnt depicable to travel through OT . But now, thanks POP heading to WW is a bit easier using the POK books. You could go to Field of Bone book and from there zone into Warslick´s Woods without fear to be engaged by a drachnid anymore :) A sow and a camo or similar would still be wellcome, and also make sure that (if you go to WW to hunt giants) you know the loc of the entrance to the Iksar caves since its the closest escape way.

For info, maps, etc ... go to the link here in allakhazam or directly to eqatlas to get an overview.

Good Luck to you all!

ps.- if what you want is a forest loop : then go after the FG "greenwoods" , the drop it more often than the FG "evergreens". I sincerelly think that is the best earring for a wis based char you can get in the mid 20ish ( if not , just drop me a line, i also would be interested in knowing ) .
Skulking Brutes Near Dalnir
# Feb 23 2003 at 4:54 PM Rating: Excellent
I spent a lot of time in Warsliks Woods as a young Iksar Shaman, and found that there are a number of fantastic hunting places. As other people have discussed, the giant fort is great for loot and xp. My personal favorite area, though is the one near Dalnir with the Skulking Brutes. You can take a look at my post about Skulking Brutes at the EQBeastiary site. The post talks about my strategy for effectively soloing the brutes for quite a few levels.

I hope this proves helpful to some, as WW remains one of my favorite zones as a result of my sucesses with the brutes.

As of today, there are 2 new Skulking brutes here, both of witch are partial wanderers.
One stays near each "monkey room" and has a pretty defined pathing. So if you are used to coming here, and medding at the room entrances.....Beware.

Well from my experience with my 27 monk, its ok, not easy to solo the brutes. Bring a stack of bandages and you should be ok. You can die somewhat easy here though with the addition of the new wanderers. So if you sitting waiting to get back to 90%+health(what i take the brutes on. gets dangerous otherwise)I suggest sitting along the walls because they have a somewhat small agroe range. They hit my monk for about 20-30 half the time and 1-5 other times(just depends if you get lucky or not =P, most fights i get taken down about 50-60% health). Overall its a good place to solo for a monk. 0.1 stone gems and so that sell for not a bad amount of plat and the exp isnt that bad, but you have to be carefull.

Hi!

The WW-Zone is very good for hunting solo with druids. I was there from Level 22 to 30, and it was great xp and good loot.
Where i was? I camped the Giant forest fort. U can hunt inside the fort without probs, because adds are rare. But also u can pull one out and kill him outside. Be sure to use the small gate in the south, not the guarded one.
Tactic for druids? Easy: Snare, Root, DOT, and then infight. Only the evergreens resist sometimes the root or the snare, but if u have SOW on, u can easy escape the unsnared giants.
And the loot? Up to 3pp and of course: the giant forest hammer (NODROP)! But u can sell the other weapons (Leg Chopper for 35pp to NPCs).

Binding point? Use the lesser succor spell, and bind there. It is near to the fort.
Also near the fort, there are in front of the small gate, after the bridge, two trees. There you can medd only problems. You will only be attacked very very rare by goblin whelps or skeletons, but they are np. Two hits, and they are dead.

It was a very nice time for me in this fort (i nearly lived there), and i killed hundreds of them. There was often the hammer-drop, so be patience, it will drop. If not on the first day, then on the second.

If u are bored after a few time, have a look at the kurns tower in the fields of bone, next of WW. I also lived there for over one week to get the iksar berserker club, but then returned to WW, because the XP was much better at "my" Giant fort.

Depending upon your level and your skill at pulling, you can also have some success hunting the Goblin Fortress that guards the bridge across the river at the northern center of the zone. I've had troubles just pulling one goblin at a time and would like to learn how others accomplish this, but, since most of the goblins are dark blue at my lvl, I don't usually have a problem sticking them on my pet and nuking them from a safe distance while my cleric watches over my pet. In the fort is a different matter entirely. Be prepared to take on hordes of goblins. I don't think I ever pulled less than 3 and usually somewhere around six (Boy those little buggers get annoyed when you hit 'em with a malaise spell). My suggestion, even if your really good with your pet and can get him to agro four or more (which I've managed in these situations) is gate. With six goblins beating on my pet, it was time to surrender the field and take the long walk back from Fields of Bone. Trust me when I tell you, you don't wanna be making that walk naked even with invisibility.

Just dinged 27 some evergreens still con yellow to me. Well last night saw 3 drop. this was after hours of being there. I was grouped with a dark elf level 26 wiz. first one dropped and he won the random the next one dropped i got to keep since they are lore items. then later we i was soloing and got a third to drop but since i already had one gave it to a monk warrior typ[e fighting near me. i sold mine next day for 200 p. no use for it since it is mainly for wisdom characters.
Forest Loop
# Sep 12 2002 at 1:00 PM Rating: Decent
i have killed like 70 giants now and not one loop. i have gotten words, tree slayer axe twice, leg chopper once, a gold ring, ivy wristband, plat, gold, a ton of silver and copper which i destoy. i have also got iskar shields and swords for pet. not much has dropped of these guys. one thing good about these guys is they are pretty easy at level 25. just dinged 26 so going back to see if i can level to 27 in 2 days.
worth it?

Hey, im a 30 war and on my server, this zone isnt very popular. for a few hours i was the only person in the zone(at about 4:00est too). Im thinking of soloing forest giants with high bind wound skill. if there are no sowers in the zone, nevermide nobody in the zone, is it really worth it. thanks

Greetings!

I was thinking of taking my lvl 21 Barb Shaman here to hunt for a while. I would love to get a Forest Loop and am hoping to get some decent loot and better xp than I am getting now. I also could use a better weapon, but have not found one yet.
Is this at all feasible at my level? I've heard that Forest Giants and Forest Giant Greenwoods? (I think that was the one) are good xp at about my lvl.
Thanks.

Your Shammy should fare well in there since you can always nuke with AoE if the roaming Gobs and Iksars jump you. Saplings seem to be pretty common in the NW towards The Overthere and con LB-DB to my 24 Ranger, but you run a greater risk of other MOBs joining in (hills force them to narrower paths). Try and find a reasonably open area to fight in cause the trees reduce visibility to almost zero.

Safer solo territory for your level in my mind is the NE area of The Overthere because it is more open and less chance of getting multiple MOBs (Sabretooths are the biggest concern in that regard). You could also train Peeps, Sabres and Sarnaks should the urge strike you. Higher level stuff to the South of the Outpost makes this a zone where you can spend several levels, but probably not an area of the zone you want to be in alone <lvl 30. Rhinos are great XP plus drop up to 1pp,4gp,7sp,6cp and horns are worth 3pp+ at merchants.

NO im fairly certain that FM has more loot than warsliks.

With that said Warsliks does have a few nice items for the on grachnist the iksar bandit lord and of course the very elusive forest loops on every 1000th giant or so(seem to be more common in FM though).

But with the cyclic spawns and the giant fort in FM (where they drop everything that can drop in WW and some items the ones in WW do not) the loot seems to be far better there, it doesnt come as a shock to me since FM is higher in level

Mt 18 monk went there with the "alt group" last night, a 25 cleric 24 warrior 20 enchanter and Roki. The ones that were still red to the cleric were of course nearly impossible for me to hit but we hadnled double pulls very easily, had no deaths. Sweet sweet spot. Of course the monk got herself killed there today.... a little too cocky for her own good, at such a tender age! Tried to solo a yellow since she'd massacred the only blue in the area....
What are you talking about????
# Aug 24 2001 at 1:56 PM Rating: Decent
If you have camo and sow, why the heck would you go through Cab??? Simply go to the easternmost entrance to the goblin caves, and follow the right wall. Done. Complete. Congrats. To see where this is located check out the map.
RE: getting there
# Aug 15 2001 at 11:50 AM Rating: Default
If you have camo & sow you can run up the the LOIO entrance, re SOW & camo, run past the guards, hold to the right side. Run into the West Cab zone, make sure & hold to the right so you dont run into the hermit. Run past the PvP area & dive into the canal, now hold to your left.
eventually youll see what looks like a ramp in front of you, turn back around & continue hugging your left, youll see a small boat dock , climb out run up that rampto your right & down the isleway hugging to the left again , youll see the 2 troopers guarding the way to WW run past them hold to your right again. Youll end up in a small cave area, just to be sure, re camo & SOW then run out to WW..once out you can hold to your left again & bind in the corner of the temple if you didnt already in the cave..

wouldnt you have to go thru Cab to get from LOIO
to FOB as well?

Would it be possible as a druid to put on Camo,
maybe endure breath as well as SOW, run thru the gate, dive into the canal, swim to the WW gate jump up & hopefully get straight thru?

Hopefully the Cru pets wont aggro on you or the hermit... DOnt know but looks like it MIGHT work

Is there any way to make it from there to WW besides going around FV ?

You can take the Goblin Tunnels (northwest corner of LOIO zone) to get to Warsliks Woods.
RE: getting there
# Aug 10 2001 at 3:31 PM Rating: Decent
Ok, from LOIO zone north to FOB, then take the zone on west wall to WW. quick and easy run. To get to giant fort from that zone, follow path, it'ss split, take one going right, it'll take you straight to the back door of the fort. Hope this helps
