Tough but intresting dungeon
# Aug 22 2000 at 5:40 PM Rating: Excellent
Chardok is a rarely camped dungeon filled with untapped potential.. most people think that an enchanter is "necessary" for hunting here, but that's just not true. it might be true for deeper in, but since this dungeon is usually empty, you can hunt near the entrance and exit right up to 60 if you're so inclined.

The entrance and exit are seperate, but not greatly so. Following the left wall upon zone in will take you to the exit. Most people upon just arriving at this dungeon take the exit as their primary camp site, and if that one is taken will setup shop at the entrance (though if you hunt the entrance, you had better either be able to FD, gate, or have an evacer) you can't sow or activate jboots in the dungeon, which can make pulling tricky.

Invis can help you alot manuvering in this dungeon, as their are only 2 mobs that see through it, the chardok manglers, and the Sarnak Ceacedons <sp>. Beware the Caecedons though, they have a proc which throws you accross the room, and they have this habbit of spawning on the bridge, so if you're not careful, you'll run past them without seeing them and find yourself flying into the pit, which is rather difficutl to get out of.

Besides the entrance and exit, another popular camp is the tunnel. To get to it you need to levitate from infront of the fort. It leads down near Korocust, but there are several spawns inside it that can be easily singly pulled, and its not far from the exit if you have to run. good xp here.

Chardok is a *GREAT* dungeon for both xp and spell loot. Plus random loots like the sarnak battle shield and the sarnak fetish make this dungeon a great place to hunt, I just wish it was easier to find a pickup group here. If you've got a nice guild though, head deeper in for the *4* bosses this place contains. Korocust is by far the easiest, though by no means a walk in the park. He hits *hard* uses the reposte-disapline, and procs a blind, which can be BAD. *esspessially* if he blinds a pet, because a blind pet will immediately run out into the dungeon proper and bring back a HUGE train. DO NOT use pets against him! However, that being said, he's not that tough if you keep your wits about you and get him singly. With two groups we droped him repeatedly with no deaths, and I've see a single 55ish group *almost* drop him (probably would have if they'd just been expecting the pull). he spawns ever 18 minutes, so he's easy to farm, and he has no place holder.

The royals comprise the rest of the bosses in Chardok, and are an order of magnitude harder than Korocust. I've only personally fought the Overking, and with 3 50-57 groups, we were wiped out in a matter of seconds (though soon we hope to go back and give him another try.) I've heard the prince isn't too difficutl, though I don't have much info on him, but STAY AWAY from the queen. As far as I know NO ONE has managed to drop her yet.. she has some sort of AoE fire bard song that does around 1K of damage per tick (SICK AND WRONG). every report I've read of people engaging the queen goes like "We were sitting their medding, then all of a sudden 2 of our group memebers died, and then before I could even stand up I was dead."
so beware.

Anyone have more info on the royals?

On brell yesterday a big group raided this dungeon, I was in BW at the time and they were looking for a few more and I joined them. Not really have a clue what I was getting into, I am only a level 47 wizard. We had 6 full groups and killed the Prince once and the King once.

I have one warning. DON'T LET THE MOBS BACK IN TO THE WALL. The first time we attempted the prince he got backed into a wall and disappeared. He then started summoning people at random and killing them off. So we all camped and went in to a chat room and when everyone was there we logged back in. We then attacked him again and killed him. This happened to us on 2 more occasions. The last time we got trained and wiped out all 30 some of us. But this was a very fun dugeon and very fast pulls. From listening to what others are saying about the queen I am glad we didn't see her, though we all ended up dieing anyway.

It might not be the case with that particular blind spell, but from my experience blind spells have no effect on pets at all from what I saw with several battles with Estrella of Gloomwater

I thihnk i have the answer to why pets wouldnt run from estrella, same reason fear and mobs running when low on life is turned off in zone. The pets wont run b/c the pathing/coding wont let them, but i do believe pets normally run when blind, kedge being the exception not the rule
Fun at the zoneline...

Hunting chardok zoneline can be pretty rewarding. Most of the decent drops in the dungeon are random drops, and chardok appears to drop spells more frequently than other dungeons. Given the lack of named spawns beyond the very tough four, there generally isn't much compelling reason to go deeper.

As an enchanter, I found I liked this dungeon because of the number of casters - using Theft of Thought, I can regain a -lot- of mana from them, and then use that to speed up the rest of the party.

The Prince is actually quite close to Korocust in power on a magnitudinal scale. I would say that if 10 people can take Korocust, then 18 can take Prince. My group did Koro with 24 then prince with 30 and it was relatively easy, I think we had 1 death in the 4 times we killed Koro and 4 deaths on the Prince. I havent tried the King or Queen yet, but I am hearing rumors that some of the larger guilds on my server have killed both, so perhaps they have been fixed to be killable.

Anyone have any idea where the Royal Herbalist spawns and any stats on him?

the royal herbalist spawns near the library. it has a PH (apprentice) and was blue to me at 52 (as was the apprentice)

Spawn time is greater than 1 hour (the ammount of time i spent at his spawn point)

The queen has not been killed on ANY server yet.

She's extremely hard not only because she is a L62 shaman, not only that she procs the AE Fire-based effect that Rak`Ashiir in City of Mist procs (fire pets are immune, players it REALLY hurts unless you jack FR to 200ish+ to full resist), but moreof because she has alot of guards that respawn extremely fast, which are all L51+ and there's about 2 roomfulls of them which much be killed, else they will agro through the walls when you attack the queen.

Caedosaurs is the correct, if still slightly misspelled, name.

There are almost never pick-up groups in this dungeon. BYO party. Quite often my group is the ONLY one in there. I would suggest you be level 45 before trying it.
