Located on the northern coast of Kunark. An outpost in the northwestern region is occupied by Dark Elves who have aligned themselves with Venril Sathir.

At night, Dragoons can be seen patrolling the paths. Sarnaks, plantlife, and wildlife roam all throughout The Overthere while the scorpikis can be found in and around the massive chasm leading to Charasis.

Storm the Sarnak tower - Great 31 35
# May 16 2001 at 10:03 AM Rating: Default
For the last two days ive been hunting in the sarnak tower making about a yellow bub an hour, at 31. Its in the SE corner of the zone where the road turns north to Warslicks. Get a good mix 30 to 35 and you're golden, harmony pull to break the spawn, then move inside. Once the spawn is broken and you're inside a sarnak will spawn every 2-3 minutes providing steady xp and time to med and heal, plus there's plenty of mobs wandering around outside to pull in if your doing really well in the group.

BTW - If you decide to pull from the outside, Sarnak Enthusiast's have a gate spell, and if given the chance will repeatedly gate into the tower to get more friends

The difficulty of the MOBS in this zone is split from one side to the other. I should say, The Overthere is split at a diagonal. Think of this zone as a giant doughnut. In the center is the deep, dangerous canyon crawling with scorpiski, (bad spelling??) the large scorpion-iksar. On the plains above, one side of this zone (north & east) has MOBS ranging from mid-teens to early-twenties. On the other side (west & south) are MOBS that are around level 30 to the high 30s, not including the Dragoons, merchants in the outpost, etc.

The boundary line separating the difficulty areas run from the evil outpost, in the northwest corner, down, at a diagonal, to the southeast, just south of the giant iksar statue. This does NOT include the scorpiski canyon. Down in the canyon is mid-thirties or so.

The Dragoons stay on the west side of this zone, roughly following the road, south from the outpost. They come out mostly at night. Mostly. The north and east sides of OT is Dragoon free.

The Sarnaks of all levels, on both sides, will all aggro if you get to close. On the lower level side, I have NEVER been aggroed on by any of the non-sarnak MOBS, even if that MOB says "ready to attack". That includes when I am fighting a MOB, and a MOB of the same type walks right by us. On the higher level side I have been aggroed on by a couple of non-sarnak MOBS, but this seems inconsistant. I have also walked right by the same type MOB before and it did NOT aggro.

If you are a soloer this is the absolute best zone for soloing up through your low 40s. There is a gap from the high 20s to low 30s were you will have to find another place to fight. From your high teens to about level 27, and from about level 33 to the 40s can be soloed by even melees.

if your a cleric who likes to make money off of doing your rezzes then i say go here. every 5 minutes i hear some one asking for a rez for a friend who was dum enough to run up to a guard at the outpost who is kos to them while they get off the boat. i am very literal when i say every 5 minutes too. and these people are offering big money for these rezzes too! realy great spot for a darky cleric. you can make your bucks and put it in the bank too. 8')

The Ledge
# May 05 2001 at 12:01 PM Rating: Default
Welcome to The Overthere (a.k.a. OT).

Some commons terms:
The ledge: That is the seemingly ledge-like platform at the opposite end of the long ravine to get to Frontier Mountains. Often frequented by "goons".

Goons: Dragoons. Including Dragoon V'Resh, and General D'Veers and his necro pet. They are basically guards for dark races. If you wonder how hard they hit, get within 100 yrds of them and you WILL find out. They roam, and have superior agro ranges.

KFC: Cockatrice...the little bird like mobs running around. For all you druids, they are not considered animals...you CANNOT charm them.

You can start hunting the good stuff around 34 safely. At 39, mobs are all blue...not many greens either. Druids, solo kinghts...half a blue each at 39.

Happy hunting friends!!

I've just arrived in this zone so I'm not familiar with the key spots and their names.

I keep hearing people yelling for people to group at "the ledge". Exactly what is the ledge and where is it?
RE: The Ledge?
# May 05 2001 at 10:05 AM Rating: Default
The ledge is also a nice place to hunt darkies at around lvl 44. Its seems a neverending supply of darkies. Actually it seems like the more you cream the more will pop.

Theres also a lot of animals, like rhinos to charm. Charm a rhino, hide inside the rhino til the darkie group finishes the mob, then puzz your rhino pet on them and while they are busy with your pet.. nuke the crap out of the cleric or a caster, loot and go back to safespot to med up, then repeat. Ive found this strategy to be crappy loot and no xp at all for a lvl 44.

The ledge is the place the Frontier Mountains zone. Many people hunt here because of the hill below the ledge. The hill has huge amounts of creatures perfect for level 30-45 people. There are never too many groups here.

Yes! After you zone into the OT, jump off the boat and swim left (east) and land on the beach outside the city. Use the Iskar Merchant at the Mud Pit for buying selling.
Iksar Merchant
# Apr 24 2001 at 12:50 PM Rating: Default
There is an Iksar Merchant in the NE by the mud pit that seems to sell to everyone. I'm a Troll Shaddow Knight, so I didn't pay much attention, but then I conned him. Indifferent. The merchants in town are Apprehensive! So now I just do my banking in town, at least until I can do the Sarnak braid quest (I'm 17th level now). I've seen good races shop here, I think he's the way to go. His name is Klok, like all other Iksar merchants.

BTW: the only downside to this fantastic zone at levels 16 & 17 is the lack of people to group with. I always seem to find someone, but it's not as easy as sitting at the Mill in LOIO. I'm on Brell, your server might have smarter people. :)

Thanks

I am an Erudite Wizard worshipping no one and I am apprehensive in the city. The is very helpful because I am able to bank here while others aren't and the dragoons don't attack me (thank god) I don't see how an Erudite Necro would have any worse faction with them than me.

16-20 Hunt Ground
# Apr 03 2001 at 6:56 AM Rating: Default
I have been hunting here since level 16, solo and group, and have found it an excellent zone as:

Very few mobs (only Sarnaks) will aggro on you
Mobs do not group (again except Sarnaks)
Mobs have high resistance but no spells

A necro can solo here on yellows perfectly safely and partner up on many reds. The xp is excellent
RE: 16-20 Hunt Ground
# May 12 2001 at 11:47 AM Rating: Default
Actually, all mobs except for the plants aggro, you just have to be in right place for it to happen. And there are mobs in OT that can cast spells, The Scorpikuses they are like Shadow Knights, and yes they do have harm touch, I can solo them, but I always have to med afterwards, and heal, they always open up with a harm touch. And they take bad faction hits to Vinril Sathir. Happy Hunting.

The sabertooths (note the 'er' spelling), the lower cockatrices and the lower rhinos are non-agro and non-social. This is perfect for hunting at the 16-20 range.

The higher level versions of the mobs - the sabretooths (note the 're' spelling), the higher cockatrices and the higher rhinos are still non-social but will agro. The sarnaks are all agro.
Low 30 hunting spots?
# Mar 28 2001 at 8:45 AM Rating: Decent
I have often heard that the Overthere is a good place to get exp, but I have never heard exactly where. As of current, I hunt at the Giant Fortress in the Frontier Mountains. The giants are pretty good exp, they carry up tp about 4pp, and it is not uncommon to get a weapon dropped that sells to the merchants at around 20pp. They also harbor the rare mountain(spl?) giant tunic (sells for 50pp, or so I've been told) and rarer, the coveted Forest Loops (earrings, stats of 2 OR 5 AC (can't remember), +3 to WIS, DEX, and AGI. (There may be more to them, but that's all I remember. Look it up here if you are curious.) While the exp is pretty good here, is there someother place in Kunark (like the Overthere) where there are good hunting spots for lvls 30-35? If so where specifically in the zone should that player hunt. Many thanks to all who reply to this post with info. Thanks all!

Mountain Giant Exp sucks compared to the experience at the Overthere. The best place to hunt is at "the ledge" which is basically the FM zone. It is right after the small valley you find when you zone in. Here you should try to find a group because you can't solo unless you have snare until level 36 at least. The stuff drops no loot at all except for platinum. The sarnak knights and stonegazer cockatrice drop a good 3-4pp per kill which is nice and the cockatrices also drop beaks which sell for .5-1pp depending on your charisma. The tigers also sometimes drop tiger fangs which sell for the same as cockatrice beaks. Hope this helps!

Me and my two partners (lvl 16 Druid, lvl 18 SK) came over here (heh) on a whim tonite...

This zone ROCKS! We never even came close to a panic attack, the xp was great, and we were just taking our sweet time picking the mobs off...

We found a bind spot if you swim around the edge of the wall, and get bound on the waters edge on the east side of the outpost. Our SK is a dark elf, so we have merchant access, and our druid can forage and summon supplies... We might never leave our little patch of sand on the oceans edge till we hit 25th!

Safe Hunting!

The only place non-caster classes can be bound in this zone is within the walls of the evil outpost. Binding at WW will not work. If you are a good race, you should be bound in Firona Vie (inside the outpost). Iksar bind in Cabilis (why wouldn't they?). Evils bind in the outpost.

I'm a Shammy Barb, in his 24th season, and have had a difficult time making my way this far because of my preference for soloing. Apart from having to jump the boat and swimming to shore ... this has got to be the greatest area yet. Forget the crowded Aviaks, this is the place. Went from fresh 23 to one yellow bulb in 24 in on line time of about 8 hours. Keep to the Rhino's which seem to have the greatest HP to mana ratio. Cockateals are marginal but Sarnaks (Conscript and Flunkie) should be avoided... they are not a problem but aren't worth the mana and hp regen time. Root, DOT,DOT,DOT (stack 'em) and med. Bring down to about 1/4 and melee to keep the offense and defense proficient. And by the way ... wasn't going for loot, but walked away with approx 50 PP. Last piece of advice, go out with empty bags, plenty of food and drink (unless you conjur) and Bat Wings. Why? Porting back is difficult, but if you bind yourself at Overthere, cast levitate and walk out to harbor and catch the next boat to TD ... you don't need to drop the coppers and silvers ... and believe me they add up and it's nice to be able to gate back. I know there must be better strategies and I'd like to hear about them.

Good points, only thing to be careful of is that the Rhino's closest to water are lower level (Blue to 23). Further inland Tigers, Rhinos, etc. are much higer level and hit hard. I have found that once 24, soloing is pretty much done ... spawns are fewer and drops (loot) are low. But up to 24 this is a great solo area! Also if alligned evil, selling rhino horns and beaks to named char (building across from bank) will bring 2+pp and 1+pp respectively, this on top of animal drops is pretty decent for this low level solo.

I see everyone else dropping their 2 cents, so I decided to do the same. If coming from the old world (ie not Iksar), you can start in the Overthere as low as 15.

Keep hunting in OT until around levels 20 or 21, depending on whether you are a chronic solo artist or a grouper (I leave you to figure out my meaning). Once you reach these levels, go into Warsliks Woods.

Your time in Warsliks Woods will be spent fighting at either the Giant Fort or the Goblin Fort. A well balanced group of 3 to 6 is fine for either area. The fewer the characters, though, means you better /con the higher mobs--forest giant evergreens and the higher lvl gob casters (spiritcallers or soulcallers). You can easily get to the mid 20s in this zone...and fast.

At around 25, the Lake of Ill Omen is great, but I was also hunting there when a "lot of people in the zone" meant 35 or so. But, the sheer size of this zone makes for great xp even when there are 60 players in it. Hunt in the Sarnak Fort (entrance faces lake) or near the Tower in back with a well balanced, preferably experienced group (grab enchanters if you can). If these spots are taken, go to the skeleton hut closer to the windmill or find a nice patch of sand on the western side of the lake--the area often called the "pillars". LoIO will get you to 30 with ease.

At 30, you can return to OT, go to the giant fort in FM (xp bad, loot good), kill druids in EC or WC, or head off to Iceclad and kill snow cougars until 40. Many strange, dangerous and wonderful places become hunting grounds for you at these levels.

Once you get to level 40, you will have a good idea where, when, how, and why you want to hunt. Good luck and have fun. I hope that this helps someone out there.

A clue to the use of scribed tome pages
# Feb 28 2001 at 4:43 PM Rating: Default
When hunting near the Iksar Outpost camp near the Northern edge of Swamp of No Hope, I looted a ten slot container called the "Tome Binder" (No Drop) which had a "combine button."

On a lark, I filled the tome binder with 10 scribed tome pages and hit combine. This created a new item, whose name I cant precisely remember, but was something like "Locked magical tome"

I have no idea what the new item is used for, but I have at least discovered a clue to the use of scribed tome pages.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Sorry. I'm afraid the tomb you found was part of the Iksar Shadowknight's "Test of Pain" which involves finding 9 different tomb pages and that tomb. The quest is correctly named, since it usually takes someone about 10 hours of killing froglok raiders to find all the components. The quest results in the Squire's Khurki (a nice weapon for newbies, but not worth the hassle of 10 hours of watching out for nasties that roam around the swamp).

I could be wrong, but I doubt it.
