Once site of the city Veksar, this area is located in the center of Kunark and gets its name from the unfortunate demise of what once stood here.

Veksar sank into what is now the Lake of Ill Omen, and the area was overrun by the Sarnak Collective. Currently, the Iksars of Cabilis continue to do battle with the Sarnaks, fighting over the land.

A clan of Bloodgill Goblins occupies the lake outside of the fallen Veksar. To the northwest is a network of goblin caves which leads to Warsliks Woods. Roaming the entire area surrounding the lake are the wildlife native to Kunark and highly aggressive undead.

Ok this is my advice to you if you want to fight in lake owmen. This is most advice for druids cause thats my main who had been at kunark sense level 14. When you get to lake omen and you zone in from FV follow water till it emptys off in to the lake. Once you get there take a right and follow it all the way till you see a tree if you get to a fort stop turn around cause you gone to far. There you should find some one to group up with till you hit about level 16 to 17. I make it a rule of thumb that if my heath bar is all the way down to two bubbles left to tuck tail and run if im not grouped. Now once you hit level 16 or 17 go to windmill. Now you can get in a group just make sure that the people in you group are with in one or two levels of you. I just soloed from level 14. I found that most people over there dont know what to pull. I got in to groups that were pulling and killing things I was soloing which means the exp sucked really bad. My advice is stay near windmill and solo if you run in to trouble just call for help and people will help you out but be perpared to run for the zone. I started at lake owmen at level 14 and have pretty much soloed all the way up to 22. If you do decided to group I would find people you know and have grouped with before. If you group at kunark as good as the exp should be if your in a group that is pulling things that you can solo on you should leave. I spent 3 hours in a few groups and never once filled on bar. In fact most times my blue bar would barelly move. So my advice is to solo it. If your a druid this will be way to easy. once you hit 19 you will get root and though it won't last long it will stop a mob long enough to do some damage. once root wears off just melee and use your ignite to finish them off. I pretty much stuck to any thing that con blue and said "looks at you and is ready for a fight. It looks risky but you might win." if you see somthing to that effect take it. When med there is a hill on the left if your facing windmill with a tree this is a great spot to med and to pull mobs towards. If your soloing Just remember not to take any thing you cant handle. always be ready to run if you only have to heath bars left. And watch your step cause its very easy to bump in to something that and agroing it. this can be really bad if you just pulled something. Keep your self sow and buffed up at all times. you will die and have set backs but you should all ready be use to that. when you die just get right back out there and go at it again. The most important thing is have fun.

I assume that your an iksar monk if your looking for a sabertooth cub tooth.

Basically the zone gets harder the further from the cabilis entrance you go. Close to the cabilis entrance it is a newbie zone with no hard mobs at all, would be very easy for you to find a cub in this area without any risk. (in fact you probably wouldn't find a cub if you went further south anyway)

I am a newcomer to LOIO and found in my first night of hunting a Forsaken Pariah Mask as well as a Heart of Ice gem. Both are no-drop items--does anyone know if these are quest items? if so where can i find details? thanks!
RE: quest items?
# Feb 20 2001 at 10:29 AM Rating: Default
The heart of ice gem is part of the enchanters quest for the Illusion Iksar spell. There are 3 other items for this quest. Powder of Nok, Sabertooth Mane, and Ton Warrior Totem, you give these 4 items to Luminare Pasinia in Faronia Vie and she gives you the scroll named Visions of Sebilite which scribes as Illusion Iksar. It is not a no drop scroll so can be sold or traded.

Enter via the eastern Goblin Tunnel and stick to the right; always stay right.

When you zone into WW, still keep going to the right and you'll pop out of the tunnels just south of the forest giant fort.

You are in luck, I came when I was 16th almost to 17th and Ill Omen rulz, FOB is good til 16th maybe even 17th then Lake of Ill is the place to be. Lots of level 16+ mobs, you just have to get a feel for where the key spawn points are. I have heard and believe that this place is the bomb, I get exp very quick and level very fast in a group that knows what to pull. Great loot too!

I have earned good experience in the lake of Ill Omen, going from 18 to 20 quickly. (course it helps to level quickly if one has a high level healer backing you up as you take on reds). I plan on trying the S. Fort tonight to head for level 21. (unless something else comes up.. we Rangers do love to travel)

All non-iksar are KOS in cabilis (unless you have worked very hard on getting your faction up).

The tough part about the faction (I believe) is that there are two sets of guards. Troopers and crusaders, which guard the entrance. These have different factions, and so life is twice as complicated. (although the crusaders can be avoided if required when entering the city).

I dont know if this happens with other classes pulling, but i have noticed that when a bard pulls from the sarnak fort or gob mine, that a contstant stream on mobs train to our pull point. The bard is going in with speed song on only so it cant be the song pulling (or can it?). Tonight our bard made one big pull from the gob mine and for the rest of the night the gobs were spawning already agro'd on our bard! Worked well for us as a full group though as it saved us going in to pull:).

Question from a new wanderer.

I am a lvl 22 dwarven cleric. After becoming completely bored of HighKeep and the Karana areas; I decided I would journey to Kunark to see what new adventures I could create, find, or accidentally stumble upon. I've only been Kunark for a few hours, and have wandered from FV to the field of bone. Everyone constantly tells me to head to LOIO. I plan to do so; but I was wondering, if I cant find a ready group. 1) Would it be possible for me to solo anything here?
2) What areas should I stick with? 3) Finally, what spots should I avoid and if any; can I get sufficient faction hits to allow myself more room?

Thanks for any info,
Gimlis Sorefoot of Quellios.
RE: Question from a new wanderer.
# Jan 29 2001 at 7:51 PM Rating: Default
Being a cleric, you should have no problem finding a group. This area has so many mobs and people hunting that you should be able to put together a full group from scratch in about 5 min. It is not unusual to see 80-90 people in the zone. Be sure to snag an enchanter because breeze (or clarity) are a necessity. With a good strong puller you should be able to chain pull evens and yellows all day long.

So far, the best groups I have been in are 2 tanks, 1 cleric, 1 enchanter, 1 druid, and 1 wizard. With this combo you can pretty much kill as fast as you can pull. I have been averaging about a bubble and a half of exp per RL hour played in this zone. Also, of note, in 3 days and many groups in this zone, we have only lost 1 person and it was to a named sarnak that aggro'd him.

In the unusual event that you can't find a group (I doubt this will happen), you can hunt from the mill in the SE corner of the zone. There are usually a bunch of people and at least 1 group hunting there so getting help is not a problem.

Good luck to you and happy hunting!

The perfect LOIO spot
# Jan 20 2001 at 5:11 PM Rating: Good
I have been fighting at the best spot, hands down, in the entire lake of ill omen for exp.(I levelled from 21-29 in a week of real life time. I played a whole heck of alot that week, i was on vacation, but i have friends who play more casually that will hit the same level as I in nearly the same amount of time) Im not talking loot..you wont find any really. The occasional plat and gold, some words, a few runes, and a whole lotta no drop quest items. Incredible XP is what im selling here:)

Stand at the head of the stream as it enters the lake. Facing the lake, follow the beach around the lake to the left. You will quickly pass some gobbo ruins and various toppled/untoppled small statues. Thats fine, just keep on heading down the beach. After you pass the ruins, you will see that there is now a line of hills to your left as you follow the beach, right after you pass the last of the ruins. Your almost there. A few hundred feet past the ruins, the beach will take a sharp left turn and cut inland about 30 yards. This is your spot. Its easily recognizable by the fact that when you stand here, and face away from the lake, you will see a break of sorts in the hills i mentioned, it looks like a smallish plateau between two of the hills. right here on the beach is where you will set up camp. (for further ease of finding this spot...if you are at the windmill...head out from the windmill to the charbone house right nearby. Once at the charbone house, simply run directly away from it and the windmill towards the lake. when you hit the beach, turn around. your there:) Once here, you will notice two things. First, you may see a mob wandering by and think its sparse hunting. Your wrong..this is the most rewarding spawn area in the whole zone. Secondly, you will see that the wandering mobs in front of you are following definate paths, and you can easily sit on the beach and rest and nothing will aggro you.

Now, to hunt. simply pull the creatures between you and the hills. If your going solo, like I did at first, this is usually more than enough to keep you busy, and you rarely have to go into the hills themselves to pull a mob. If your in a group, go ahead and get a six man group. If you cant find a six man group in LOIO something is wrong with you:P Proceed to beat the spawn into the dirt. You will never have a shortage of spawns. Many people who joined my group almost instantly said 'lets go to the fort, this place sucks!' Twenty minutes later after multiple double pulls of sarnaks/gobbo warriors/warlords, sarnak grimalkins, and skelly char/icebones..they were telling me I had found the promised land. Its never camped, its never crowded..and after playing two characters from 20-30 in this zone I can safely tell you that this is the safest, quickest way to abuse this zone for all its worth. If you doubt, try it. You will be more than pleasantly surprised, and it beats the hell out of fighting over mobs in the sarnak fort (so crowded on the rathe that its disgusting).

I hope this helps some of you climb right up into your first hell level alot faster than you thought you would:)

Edmund's Guide to Finding the Perfect Hunting Spot in the La

Hello, all. Thanks for reading another installment of Edmund's in-depth hunting guides. Today, we'll cover the Lake of Ill Omen, a very large zone with some rather nasty surprises and good loot for a mid-level area.

The zone divides up neatly into several discrete hunting areas which essentially permit you to choose the range of creatures you want to hunt without worrying about wandering monsters from other "areas" outside your range. A particular range of creatures tends to keep to a certain patrol radius and won't depart from it. In other words, if you're parked someplace, you know about what to expect--no medding only to wake up to "A griffin hits YOU for 92 damage!"

The particular hunting areas divvy up like this:

(1) Newbieland. One of the four iksar newbie areas sits in the NE part of this zone, in a valley which leads straight to West Cabilis. Iksar can, in relative safety, hunt low-level gobbies (scouts, whelps), decaying skeletons, skeletons, low-end sabertooths (kittens and cubs), and the occasional sarnak hatchling. The guards are fairly close, and the first set of outlying buildings mark the end of Newbieland, so safe hunting is pretty easily mapped out. Past that point, young iksar encounter goblin hunters (8th-10th level) and somewhat higher-level monsters, scaling up gradually to the shores of the Lake. Iksar will find they can reach the lake shore safely in their mid-teens.

Note: If you are *not* iksar, be careful when attempting to visit this part of the zone. Although a number of the MOB's (goblins, sarnak) give you faction with the Legion of Cabilis (the iksar warriors' guild), which controls the Troopers, they will *not* give you the faction for the Crusaders, viz., CrusadersOfGreenmist, who will remain KOS to you. The Crusaders wander out some ways from the Cabilis entrance and return. If you want to make them happy, the Trooper to the right of the Cabilis passage will give the appropriate faction hits in exchange for four bone chips.

2. The Ruins/North of Windmill. Another valley, in the SE part of the zone, contains a set of old iksar ruins infested by lots of goblins (spirit callers, warriors, all that good stuff), all static and closely bunched together, which make them pullable only by a group, preferably in their mid-20's. If you're solo, this part of the zone will provide you solid experience all the way up to about 27. Mid-range sabertooths abound (cats, tigresses, and tigers) which range from 12th to 22nd level, and many drop sabertooth fangs rarely (2pp). The cats are not aggressive.

You'll also get the mid-range, highly aggressive creatures from the other groups wandering outside the ruins--goblins (aggressors and battlemasters, typically between 16 and 22), sarnak (flunkies and conscripts, 15-22), iksar (marauders, 14-16, and manslayers, 18-21) and skeletons (lesser icebones and lesser charbones, similar range). Take care to find a safe spot to pull to (like the shoreline), because the wanderers often don't stick to set paths, and will daisy-chain in, if you're not careful. The beautiful part about this zone is that the sarnaks and goblins *hate* each other (in fact, they're at war), and, if you're observant, you can finish off the winner of a pitched battle between two of them.

3. The Sarnak Fort--The fort is located in the SW corner of the zone. The interior of the fort, I'd have to say, is group territory only. By the time you can handle the fort solo, the recruits (22-27)(the primary inhabitants) will provide no experience. In addition to the recruits, you can find adherents (shamen, about 22-24), legionnaires (warriors, 24-26), revenants (necros, 25, but equipped with a powerful Fear spell and a low-20's pet), dragoons (28-30) and the sarnak gem oracle (shaman?, 28), which drops an iksar quest item, the Gem of Yet to Come and the Sarnak Ceremonial Dagger (rare), a highly-sought-after range slot INT-booster for casters. Pulling to the outside of the fort is a definite must, as it's easy to get overwhelmed indoors. Best spots are outside the front gate (recruits only), the ledge (good mix), and the back door (likewise). Otherwise, great experience and loot for a group in the mid-to-high 20's.

For you high-levels, the Chancellor of Di'Zok occasionally spawns, deep within the fortress interior. He's about 40, and a necro. Good luck. He drops the Jade Chodakai Prod, a good shaman weapon.

4. The Gobbie Caves--Densely-packed warrens, slightly north of the fort, not so popular as the sarnak fort, but decent pulling (warlords, warriors, spirit callers, all in the mid-to-high 20's). Earlier this week, though, Lord Gorelik (also about 40, and a shaman) spawned on Saryrn and wiped an entire pull group out. Forewarned is forearmed. He drops the Mithril Staff (Warrior-only, about 28/50, 2HB).

5. The Lake. Strictly high-level. The Lake's waters are infested with a particularly dangerous kind of barracuda (35-38) and an island swarming with bloodgill goblins (35-41). The only consolation is that none of these nasties end up on the shore unless pulled or trained there. Fantastic experience for groups in their high 30's well into their 40's (at least for the 48th-level cleric I met two days ago and his two buddies).

6. The Rest of the Zone. From the Ruins to about the Goblin Caves is a vast stretch of shoreline with another discrete set of wandering bad guys, great hunting for upper-20's to low-30's solo, or groups in mid-to-upper 20's. The standard two reps from each of the prevalent groups are here, but all are high-end, ranging from 23 up to 28 or so. Sarnak recruits patrol close to the fort. Goblin warriors (22-24) and warlords (24-26) pop near the caves and mount attacks on the sarnaks. Wandering warboned skeletons (18-22), icebone skeletons (20-24) and charbones (24-28) abound. Also, the toughest of the sabertooths can be found here, the sabertooth grimalkin (23-27 or so), not to mention the best of the outcast iksar, the pariah (22-24) and the exile (26-28). There's also a goblin tower, just east of the sarnak fort's front gate. All the creatures here are pretty spread out, and none of them cast. A good place to park, apart from the shoreline, is the zoneline to the Frontier Mountains, which is just outside the path leading to the sarnak fort ledge.

Finally, I should point out that the wanderers in the area south of the Windmill are tougher than the ones in front. You get frequent occurrences of warboned skels, icebones, goblin warlords, and other stuff you might otherwise find in the tough areas. In addition, occasionally a greater icebone skeleton will spawn near the Windmill. He's between 30-33, and will drop onto you like a frickin' anvil. Beware.

I wish you all happy hunting in the Lake, before you move on to giants in FM, Warsilik's, or on the main continent. Excelsior!

THIS PLACE IS AWESOME! I was being outdistanced by all my friends as I was gaining little xp in oasis. Then I heard of this place. The most difficcult thing is to get here while going through drachnids. They can kill in a few hits (At least when I was 17 they could) When I got here, I was dazzled. I gained VERY nice xp by killing on the beach or near pillars in a group. Then when I was a bit higher I went next to skelly ruins. I was grouped with a war, monk, cleric, enchanter, pally, and necro and we killed very fast. We killed everything up to charbone skellies and gobby warlords. I gained awesome xp. I suggest you try it too;) PS everyone wants an enchanter or breeze so I was never w/o a group for long :P.

I have to agree completely with you. When I first went to the lake I was a lvl 16 pali with a small group. That was about 5 days ago. now I am a lvl 22 pali, all thanks to this zone. Starting out at lower lvl's (mid to upper teens) the best place to fight is between the river and the windmill, as a puller I never have a hard time finding something reasonable to pull and keep me party happy with the constant "incoming" stopping occasionally to let the others or myself regain lost mana. Today, I moved up to the Sarnark Fort at a low 21 (just lvled to 21, no bubs full) and within 3 hours of constant pulling from in iskar druid. The front door had more than enough sanarks to support 3 groups without any problems. My group and I managed to make 45pp and I won the roll for the covented Hand Woven Leggings! yeah and Dinged to lvl 22 (new spells). This is by far and away the best zone that I have been to. It's a huge zone and the competition for mosters is rare. If you can't find anything to hunt it is your own fault or your just not looking in the right places, unlike some zone's (*cough* Oasis of Marr *cough*) where competition for mosters is widely known. I don't plan on leaving the Lake until either 1) I get bored, or 2) it's time to gather my Armor of Ro.

I couldn't agree more. I went from 18 to 22 in two days, and for a Ranger, that's adding all new spells, that's getting double attack, that's changing the game.

Oasis ? Fahgetaboutit

Another comparably good exp making place is the Lake Raathe (sp?) area. Killing aviaks and/or gnolls in groups (or killing the aviak guards outside of the zone entrance to the Arena) is amazing exp, on par with the Sarnaks/Gobbies/Undead in the Lake of Ill Omen area.

Easy recipes to changing your game and movin on up! And you're not really even "powerleveling"!

I agree about the awesome experience here. I tend to hunt with a full, low-20's group right by the zone into Frontier Mountains. I pull recruits, charbones, icebones, and grimalkins to my group. They proceed to whack the snot out of the mobs leaving two things... 1. awesome experience and 2. awesome cash flow.

The loot off of these mobs is great for selling. Sabertooth Fangs go for 1.5 plat. Iksar pariahs and exiles sometimes carry gems that go for a few plat. Plus, some of the mobs are carrying several plat just ripe for the pickin'. I was dirt poor when I got to the Lake, but I'm poor no longer... plus I advanced from 17 to 21 in the time it took me to advance from 16 to 17 in Lavastorm.

One last note... if you haven't seen the Sarnak fortress yet, go check it out. It took my breath away the first time I saw it. Absolutely incredible view!

Nice zone 15 - 28
# Jan 04 2001 at 12:17 AM Rating: Decent
I am a High Elf Cleric on the Luclin server. I first came to Lake of Ill omen at lvl 15. I tried many of the zones that you could hunt between lvls 14 and 17. I hunted at oasis, best xp of them all, but got sick of not looting anything. I went to unrest, almost as good xp as oasis and much better loot, lots of trains though. High Pass hold was pretty nice, although not many people, i liked unrest myself being a cleric soloing yellow ghouls. I went to sk around lvl 17, i was a little low but i noticed that there were lots of groups there and spawns were sometimes hard to find at birds. Out of all of them i think that lake of ill omen is the best. At lvl 15, you can get a group at the mill and hunt tigresses, tigers, some of the weaker goblins, and wandering sarnaks. Hunt those till around lvl 19 or 20, then you can go to sarnak fortress or skelly ruins. Skelly ruins are camped often. Sarnak fortress has a few main places to hunt. You could go to fd, or venture inside and hunt at the ledge to the right or pull inside the tower on the left. You can go to the back door and pull to the hill or go inside and pull to the first room on the left. Ledge and the first room in the backdoor have to most to pull and you can get xp very fast while getting ok loot. Helps if you are an enchanter cause there almost always is a group looking for you. Tanks are also needed a lot since there are plenty of clerics druids and shammys to divide between all of the groups. Lake of ill omen is very spacious so you won't have to worry about finding somewhere to camp or have to wait too long for spawns. Im lvl 25 now and plan to stay until 27 or 28, then head over to giants in FM for the nice loot. Clerics can usually get a good group fast, but if the groups are full or already have enough healers, go solo skellys or sabertooths. Some other places that aren't that popular are the goblin tower, southwest of the mill(i think). You can hunt wandering goblin warriors and warlords, sabertooth grimalkins, and sarnak recruits. You probably won't want to pull from the tower cause there are tons of them and the gobs seem to have a higher aggro range than others. I think those goblins are rotting and can't move because of the dust and cob webs around them, hehe. You could also go to the goblin ruins near the lake north of the mill. Lots of goblin battlemasters and soothsayers to pull. Pull to the stream, shouldn't be anything wandering to aggro on you. You could also hunt around the big iksar statue north of the mill. I you have a group in the late teens, you can find lots and lots of blues around. Fast xp and nice loot for that lvl. The mill is one of the most popular places in the zone. There is a dwarf merchant there to sell to, he still sells to iksars and other evil races too i think. Professor Abakao gives a quest, not for clerics since he ask for anything when i hail him. Many people form groups there and come to rest, probably find a druid to sow you are an enchanter to breeze you. Its also a pretty safe place to pull too. Its kind of dangerous to pull there because monsters wander around it and inside and usually aggro on some person medding. I personally don't like to pull to the mill because its a pretty long run. Lake of ill omen is a nice place to find groups, close to as many people as south karana but has much more to kill. Lvls 30+ you can go to the stream and hunt bloodgill goblins. They lie on the bottom of the lake under the pillar standing above the surface. Not bad xp from what i heard. Best to group since they hit hard and sometimes like to bring their friends along. Supposed to be a zone that hasn't yet been released at the bottom of the lake much like kedge. If you are an iksar, you can even go hunt in lake of ill omen at lvl 3. Lots of gobs, skellys, sarnak, and cats to pull. Lake is just outside of Cabilis and there are gaurds to run to. Iksar merchants are there and there aren't many people who hunt there at those low lvls. No competition usually when hunting just outside of cabilis. Firiona Vie is the neighboring high elf city. Lots of merchants there, a bank, and a boat to butcher. You can get your spells there from the merchants. I believe that the barbarians on the dock sell shaman spells and train warriors, rogues, and shamens. You can quest for your lvl 50+ spells in firiona vie too. Carefull traveling from firiona vie to lake of ill omen, because lots of spiders around lvl 30 who will attack you. If you are elven or have good faction with firiona vie because of hunting in the lake, wandering pilgrams and firiona drixies will act as gaurds. Be carefull of the spiders and drovlargs, they can root you. Some other things also wander outside the city of firiona vie, mostly around lvl 30 and above. Vekis is a rare spawn who spawns right under the giant iksar statue along the stream. He is a lvl 55 necro who can kill just about anyone. I think is very high magic resistant if not completely magic resistant. Lake of Ill Omen is a very nice zone between 15 and 28 and I recommend everyone between those lvls to hunt there.

ok, from personal experiance in this zone - i started here at lvl 25, as soon as kunark came out.
the biggest factor in this zone is the spacing - if you arent near a zone line, it will be difficult to avoid aggro's. even if you outrun a mob, i suggest you zone to clear out aggro. this also can clear out the random faction hits that occasionally happen in this zone.

notes on sarnaks - the faction hit is great - if you kill enough you can do the bone chips quest in the Feild of bone to gain faction with ALL of cabilis - making it a damn useful city - and a useful set of zones. this also holds true for the goblins. the sarnak fort itself has 3 good camping points in my opinion. frontdoor, backdoor, and tower - the tower is the one accessed via the bridge near the backdoor. there are 5 spawns up there, and on a fairly fast timer, so you can only do it with a on-the-ball group, but the xp IS comprable to the treants in SK. inside the backdoor is a bit harder of a camping spot, and will only become useful if multiple groups invade the fortress - however once in there are some fairly useful spots full of adherants and such

note on loot drops - ultra rare, but still occasionaly, you will find a sarnak battle axe (17/40, +5 str, warrior), a bracer of the hidden, a sarnak earing of station, or a sarnak ceremonial dagger. the only one of these that is nodrop is the earing. also the items like jade chokidoi prod and mith staff drop in this zone. i can't confirm this, but i also was told that the harpoon of the deapths drops from the water goblins in here too.

all these mobs are great SOLO experiace from about 27 through 31 - for all classes. warriors have an easy time soloing through lvl 30 at the skeleton ruins near the windmill. it's fast xp, and with bandaging and a bow you can usually win no matter what. yes, a sow greatly increases survival chance soloing, but it is not neccecary

spawning areas - nearer you get in to cabilis, the lower the level of the spawns. coming from the firiona vie zone, there are ruins to the left - the mobs inside are (usually) goblin warriors and battlemasters. to the right from firiona there is a ruined tower where goblin warriors and warlords spawn. as a general, the area between the warrior/warlord tower and the windmill spawns most of the higher level wanderers in the zone. they are fairly spaced out, but the nearer to the shore of the lake, the less mobs you will find - that makes the shoreline itself a reletivly safe spot to sit/heal/bandage/med.

notes on the lake
DONT go in without a full group in high 30s. there are some fairly nasty things down in there. deepwater barracudas and bloodgill goblins. - the barracudas usually travel in swarms of 4-5. so if ya see one beware - they will mess you up unless you have some form of crowd control in your group. the bloodgil goblins i really dont know that much about. also, the ruins in the middle of the lake will eventualy have a zone line in them - the drowned city of Veksar - as yet unimplemented underwater ruin zone - think kedge combined with karnor's and you wouldn't be far wrong, from what i understand.

level notes.
sarnak recruits - green at about 30-31
goblin warlords - green at 31- 32
sabretooth Grimalkins - green at 31-32
warboned skeletons - green at 29-30
iceboned skeletons - green at 31-32
charboned skeletons - green at 29-30
goblin warriors - green at 28-29-30

this is the information i've gained from experiance in this zone, post 25

ok, i have since started a newbie charachter, and been playing around here, starting at lvl 15.

notes on low lvl stuff

the windmill area is GREAT for lower lvls. avoid the skeleton house, kill low level sarnaks, gobs, and sabertooth tigresses. once you get moving on those, you should be able to lvl out of 15, NO BUFFS REQUIRED (if you are a druid, lol), in about two hours. the reason? yellow con tigress... hmm... snare..... fear.... hit with sword and nuke with ignite. gee, that was an easy half bubble. now go treeform and med.

notes on low lvl binding - don't bind at the stream/lake entrance now. vi put in some nice little surpises named pond sturgeons, approcx lvl 15, who just love to wander around OUT of the water. the may have fixed it by now. however, as you are entering the lake, on the leftside there is a nice high hill that nothing wanders ontop of. great spot to bind and med.

a good group for 18-22 would be doing tigers, undead, or random lower lvl goblins. at 23, all my previous notes apply.

post 32 - if you can get a GROUP and kill bloodgill goblins, it's fairly good xp.

hehe i've seen this zone be useful for over 25 levels now. don't go to oasis, don't go to south karnana. go here. you will not regret it.

I have lvl at the lake of ill omen since lvl 19 all the way up to 24 and everytime i kill something, solo or group, i get a better faction with the Legion Of Cabillis. The prob is though everytime i go to the area to enter East Cabillis, the Troopers there scowl at me ready to attack. So apparently, i'm still KOS. Can anyone tell me what i need to do to get my faction up enough to be able to go into East Cabilis and To tell me if those Troopers are Legion of Cabilis or whats up?

from what i've read there are 2 factions in cabilis the legion and the merchants...to get your faction up with the merchants you have to do quests for the general of the legion or the high person forget his name...it probly takes about 10 lvls of killing to get your faction to "looks at your threateningly which is still KOS. but i've only been here for 4 lvls so i dont know if i can ever not be KOS there.

ok, sorry to burst this, but no. the real problem is, it takes a hella lot of work to get your legion faction up high enough.. and there are at least 4 other factions i can think of in cabilis off the top of my head. the shadowknights (crusaders of greenmist) the necros, the monks (swift tails) and the shamens. the real isssue with faction is that as soon as you walk into the damn place, a crusader (on the shadowknight faction table) will harm touch and slaughter you. my suggestion - go invisible and turn in about 300 bone chips in the FoB lowbie bone chips quest. it won't get you necro faction, BUT, it will get the rest of the factions up.. i don't know anything about how to get faction with the necro's, sorry =(
RE: Faction
# Feb 02 2001 at 10:30 AM Rating: Default
for the iksar necro you will have to kill a ton of iksar bandits to raise faction. One more thing, the bone chip quest does not raise the monk faction.

Also maradeurs 50% time drops MM rings , return 4 of them to warior guild u gain nice exp.

REALLY?!? wow as an iksar i approached the windmill and was indifferent. my suggestion is to kill goblins to increase faction with firona vie. maybe sarnaks too. i am just starting to hunt in ill omen (lvl 20 shaman)and began to work on faction the the firona vie outpost. there are weaker gobs closer to the iksar city, and with your eyes open. you can easily avoid the crusader and his pet that walks out of the city every now and then. these monsters also help faction with the iksar city too. It took a friend of mine three lvls (lvl 20-23) of killing goblins and sarnaks before entering the city.

IMPORTANT thing to remember is the goblins help improve faction with city guards but not the crusaders. Sarnaks improve faction for the crusaders. Once you can approach city guards talk to trooper mozo in field of bone (near city gate) give him four bone chips to improve faction with everyone else in city(except necros)
