The forest of Misty Thicket acts as a gateway to the rest of Norrath for Rivervale's Halfling population. It is a fair-sized chunk of land which is divided into two areas by a great wall.
While the eastern side of the wall is well-guarded by the Guardians of the Vale, the western side is dominated by Deathfist Orcs and Runnyeye Goblins.

It will only get worse. The exp per kill at 5th level is a LOT compared to the higher levels. At level 59, you could spend hours killing dark blues and only get a blue or two of exp, depending on the zone you are in.

In passing through here to get to Runny Eye, I've noticed that some of the guards are in the 30's range. Has anyone tried hunting these guys, and do you have any advice for soloing them?

As far as I know they do NOT drop halfling parts. Carrion spiders in East Karana DO drop halfling parts. Im sure that there are other places they can drop, but I haven't come across any. The carrion spiders are social if you are a low level, but if you are around 30 or higher, you should have no problem taking the spiders out.

for there level they hit extremely hard but miss often they hit in the 70s when they hit and run at 18%health.Depending which camp u want to try i have different strategies.for the arch where the two guards is that u must pass to get to RE you should harmony one and Bow or spell pull the one u didnt harmony and if you are a class without harmony go to deputy Felp and kill him and just straight tank him and if your a caster he breaks root often but should be easy to nuke or set a pet on him but i recomend doing it with a partner at 30 31 they are soloable and 32-34 you will get good Exp and are very easy solos

Easy money in MT

The easiest way I've found to make money is to go around Misty Thicket killing spiderlings and gathering the spiderling silks they drop. Also to spend time running around gathering Misty Acorns. I got 8 acorns in about an hour and sold them for 5pp each. The spiderling Silks I've found usually people are willing to pay 1pp per Silk. I've only been playing EQ for about 3 days and have made over 200 PP and have a velium Spear and some blackened armor that I got for trading.
On the note of warriors. I put all my points on Strength and I'm already level 12 in 3 days playing off and on. I can also crush just about anything in the Thicket including Motoo. :)

Froglok

Wanted to add this because I havent seen it before. There is a froglok names Slaythe who spawns near the new large orc camp (the one between the wall and old camp). He spawns quite quickly, about 1-3min after killed, and was light blue to a 26 bard. Easy kill, but hits for 40's.

Zone overhaul

The Misty Thicket zone got an overhaul in a recent patch, and the new beasties drop items for Halfling-only quests originating in Rivervale. Each class now has low-level armor quests, each originating with someone in their respective guilds. Clerics get Stoutdeacon armor, Druids get Mosstoe leather, etc. (I can't remember those for Paladin/Ranger/Warrior/Rogue, have a look under Quests by Zone on this site, under Rivervale.) There are also more goblin and orc camps on the other side of the wall, and more ruins, containing undead halflings and diseased rats, near the entrance to Rivervale.

Nektulos forest recently got an overhaul as well, and new low level armor quests were put in place for inky classes in Neriak. (Ironically, many of them involve killing halflings for their skin and/or bones, mwhahahaha.)

Apparently since the Beastlord class was introduced, and they were given low-level armor quests, the rest of the classes/races are getting them as well. It looks like it's one race at a time, though.

I dont know about everyone elses server or whatever. But this zone has gotten a TOTALLY new overhall on Terris Thule. I logged on as my level 11 druid. First thing out, I see a YELLOWJACKET and I kill it, it dropped a yellow jacket chitil ? Or something, I guess i was lucky? ok let me give other examples.

The bats are no longer just Large bat, giant bat. There are FRUIT BATS and LARGE FRUIT BATS, even with a new skin...

YELLOWJACKETS (not to mention how much haerder it makes it to get giant wasp wings now) - they are just like the wasps in the game. Apparently there is a new low level armor quest, im in scarab now, but it might be nice to learn about indeed. the Caprice like thing is NO DROP

An ORC LUMBERJACK - ??? I have no idea but there he was. Just standing around.

There were also New inkies in our halfling home land. If you go through the wall to the more difficult side and take an imediate left, there are... ugh forget the name something like, DARK ASSASIN, they conned green to me at 11.Dropping DARK ELF SKINS.

Also just near the entrance of our city... if your comming out of it, taking a right, along that wall there is a SCARECROW and about 25 diseased rats. Which attacked me on site even though they conned green.

I confirmed it. but there is another orc camp, not just the one in the corner. It is along the side wall back to the WALL. imagine its along zone edge between the CORNER orc camp and the WALL. Set up kind of like a Derv camp. Its kind of a WIDE setup, and rather nice.

Also the Goblins were dropping (often) A crude Ore. I am thinking NOW that quest MIGHT be fixed where whats his name asks for PROOF the orcs are moving in on Goblin territory. I am thinking they are moving Ore, or there are new quest parts.

I am assuming with more classes available to the Halfling, they have revamped their home a bit? It was bizzare, I was a little dissapointed, it still seems level 10 is really the limit for hunting, Except most of these other orcs conned solid blue to me at 11, which was not bad, you may be able to hunt into very eary teens now.

Aside from that Scarabs of course, a FEW conned a bit higer and that rare DRED skeleton, mooto, and maybe the goblin alchemist or shaman.

You could however POWER LEVEL someone a lot easier here now. Witht he Inkies, they hit and stunned but had low hit points.

Ohhh and I got my SCARAB BRACER thing for the bug collection quest. but it looks like more of a fighter item.

The bag is for the very first quest you get when creating a hafling rogue. For exp and pocket change. If i remember correctly. There is also a gem in a nasty fish in this river (for another mission).

The hafling who speak about a coin in misty is linked to the Avenger Battle Axe quest (look in the kaladim south quest), not the ancien coin one.

Hope this help.

# Apr 11 2002 at 4:44 PM Rating: Decent
Ok my friend, you are confusing 2 seperate quests.
Bag in the lake, is "an old torn pouch" and it doesn't have anything in it, because you can't open it. You turn that into the rogue guild ( she is on the 2nd floor) and get faction and some exp. Also if your lucky you can get the ruby (worthless) from Chomper.

The coin is found in the armor vendor's (chain and plate) house. In the back room, where mangler the dog is, on the bed there is what looks like a bag. When you pick it up you have a lore coin. Turn it in to the guy on the 2nd floor of the rogue guild, (sorry I can't remember either npc name atm) for faction. Both quest are for rogues and/or anyone with high enough faction.
Hope this helps :)

I think there is a coin in nearly every major city. I was told it was an Enchanterquest, being that they take form of said race, and get the coins. There is also a tattered pouch in the water. thats different. This coin thing, Ancient coin, or whatever, is for an enchanter quest for a spell.

As far as I know, the coins found in the cities throughout Norrath are for an enchanter quest originating in the Temple of Solusek Ro. Scroll of Tashania, something like that. I don't think it's the epic, though.

The coins are for Tashania, the final Enchanter Tash spell. The coins are found as follows:

Neriak: Dive off the bridge in Neriak Commons and it is just outside the window of the Blind Fish. Next to the Wizard Rod.
Kaladim: In a very small pool by the Warrior's Guild.
Ak'anon: At the very rear of Akanon near the water wheel (on the ground).
Grobb: In the small pool near the bar when you zone in.
Oggok: Outside the warrior guild in the moat.
Qeynos: In the large pool near the Temple of Life where the Koliandl fish resides.
Halas: In the lake in front of city. Hug the left wall when you zone in and dive in the lake, its the second ledge.
Felwithe: In the small pond near the fisherman at the back of North Felwithe.
Erudin: In the fountain outside the enbtrances to the three caster guilds in Erudin Palace.
Freeport: In the water of under the Arcane Sciences building.

About Leveling...
# Oct 15 2001 at 7:27 PM Rating: Default
I am playing a halfling druid (which I must say is really cool!), I have hit level 5 and most of the monsters before the wall aren't giving me much in the way of experiance. I tried killing the ones beyond the wall but have died twice while trying to run from their huge attacks. What would be the best course of action to partake. Should I keep trying to kill the biggies, or should I stick with the lowbies for a while. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanx
RE: About Leveling...

if you can't find anyone of your level to group with you, you can always slaughter wolves inside the walls. sure, it lowers your faction with a few druid guilds ever-so slightly, but it won't really effect you. you can also keep an eye out for queen klacknaks

Misty Acorns are random and fairly rare. They appear as a bright green diamond, just click on them to pick them up. I've found nearly a stack of them over the course of 11 levels.

The three bags are berries, for the cleric supplies quest. Talk to Beek Guinders in the cleric guild.

The problem with RV is that you don't pick up good group habits. I've been there with two characters, dwarf warrior now lvl 19 and helf wizzard lvl 9 and still there. As I ventured out to other areas with my warrior I learned group techniques that I would never of been able to learn in MT. I suggest to all reading this post, mostly newbies such as myself, take the time to learn these techniques in MT before venturing out. It will pay off in the long run.

RE: Get to Qeynos
# Nov 24 2001 at 9:10 AM Rating: Decent
This was compiled using eqatlas.com, I assume you are in Rivervale or somewhere near that:

From Rivervale, enter the Kithicor Woods and travel along the path until you have a choice to go in different directions. Head west until you zone into Highpass Hold. Head north. When you get a chance to take a second path, go either way - they meet up soon. At the first body of water, turn left and continue until you see a building called the Serpent Supply. Next, head north and keep following the path until you reach an abandoned camp. Go east until you reach another crossroads, and turn north. When faced with your next choice, take the path on the left and continue northwest. Head southwest when you have the choice. Keep walking, straight past the path that joins the one you're on. Go north, taking the left path just ahead into East Karana. Zoning into EK, keep to the path, and when you have your first real choice,(there are several smaller paths running off of the main one, ignore those) take a left and follow the path and take the bridge into North Karana. In NK, keep following the path. At the first crossroads, go straight. At the next, turn north and follow the path into WK. In West Karana, simply stick to the main path and zone into Qeynos Hills. If you get lost, head west until you hit the zone wall, then look for the entrance. In the hills, well I don't think I need anymore explaination here... Take the path and go left(south) when you have the choice. You're in North Qeynos.

A couple of notes here:
1) Many of these places, especially Kithicor Forest can be a serious health risk to newer characters. Find a party or a nice, high level character to protect you.
2) This is an extremly long journey. I'd expect it to take AT LEAST two or three game days.
3) I have never actually been on most of these paths, so all fault it to be blamed on Muse from eqatlas.com :P

Every now and then, you will notice (maybe) a small green diamond shaped spot on the ground. Pick it up, it is a "misty acorn."

They are used for making "acorn oil" for halfling cultural tailoring and for some quests. You can make several gold to several plat saving them and selling to the higher level characters that wander back here.

I don't know if its our great looks or our hospitality, more and more i am finding that there are high-level characters in the zone, many of them halflings, that have come back to Misty to help lower-levels fight. Since there are so little people in this zone (the most is now about 30), you have a much better shot at them helping YOU out for a while... hehe, i've gone from level 1-6 in one sitting solely because there were always high-levels that cast SoW and Skin Like Nature and all those fun buffs :)

To add to that, those people sometimes have their periods of generosity (thats why they came back to help out in the first place, duh! ), and there is usually a nice little game organized for the newbies around once per night, where you can get some decent items... I once met a halfling Rogue that had been given Imbued Vale Studded Cloak and Leggings. The bum! But this just goes to point out that this is the best newbie zone in the entire game. There is really no danger at all in this zone (besides Mooto, but i've always been able to outrun him (without sow and my pretty buffs even :) )).

A number of halflings will return to this area at the higher levels, both to visit their relations and to help out their siblings get started.

Another very good reason is the increase of evil monsters in the Kithicor Forest, which seems to be a newer hunting ground for the higher level adventurers as well.

I would also mention a rumor I heard lately regarding some sort of change in forces mentioned by a passing Bard when he was speaking of the RunnyEye Citadel. These changes may bring back some of these adventurers as well.

the high levels might be killing guards like me cuz the guards drop 12pp spears and 3pp sheilds that are awesome loot for a level 30 to 36. If they arent killing guards they are on there way to go rip apart runnyeye cuz in runnyeye u can easily make 500pp if you kill everything which high levels can do.
