I'm an erudite paladin lvl12, and i need an Erudite sewing kit, and plat. thread, and this seems to be the only place to get them. being a paladin, will i be KOS in a city of necro's and shadow knights?
any help would be great

| Paineel is home to Norrath's evil Erudite contingent, the Heretics. The most notable sites here are the Fell Blade (Shadow Knight guild), Abattoir (necromancer guild), Tabernacle of Terror (cleric guild), and the Athenaeum Necromantia (the local library).
Also here are two entrances to the Hole (one through an underwater passage; the other through a leap of faith), found through a network of tunnels extending out from the newbie area. The Warrens, city of kobolds, also connects to this same area. |

You would be KOS in city. Suggest that you ask someone to buy it for you (you can go into the zone where the city and newbie area are). Should be able to find the thread in Erudin -- and I would chaeck with the merchants again (even the ones by the dock), because I remeber seeing an Erudite sewing kit there somewhere...

I have been bound elsewhere, like all the way out in Kunark, and have been able to get the key from the skeles.
Also, what did you do to lose your faction with the Heretics?

I just made a nerco and I spent a good part of an hour tring to find my way out of this town

I have looked and looked for this key. Does anyone have any clue where it can be purchased? I was told it was 100 plat and it would be worth it for myself to have since my guild likes to go to the hole almost every weekend. Any info would be appreciated. Btw, I made a toon and took the key that the guard gave me to the hole door, but that did not work.

Near the bank is a shop with 2 vendors - they sell food/water/torches/etc. 1 item looks like a small bag - right click on it and is show as the key for the hole.

I was in Warrens, that was fun. Got a full suit of Soft Wicker for a friend and got some nice Cold Iron. Me and my friend, (23 bard and 20 rogue) had just gotten roxxed by the King and High Shaman (I was pulling the High Shaman, as soon as I hit him the King and Lorekeeper pops... ouchies.) Anywho, after another beat down, we decided to leave Warrens for a while. When we go back the newbie area, my friend thinks it would be funny to whack the guy standing by the gaurds, since he is green. Whack, guy dead in 2 hits. He gets another idea... would be really funny to whack a GUARD! Now, these guards conned BLUE at level 11, so they were guessing around level 10. My friend goes up to one, hits it once, and the guard comes back with a combinations of hit, 137, 140, 167, 101, 32, 156 and it continues untill my rogue buddy drops. I start laughing at him, and go to pull his corpse away, and the Dubious gaurd leaps at me! 160, 132, 38, 115, ect., and I'm dead. The guards here are no joke! Don't attack them!

Ok im a human shadowknight who worships Innoruuk...Im KOS to almost every zone other than RV, akanon, thurgadin and some spots of freeport....will i be KOS to these guys or will i hafta do some faction work?

One other piece of advice: Being a worshiper of Cazic-Thule (which usually hurts your faction in entering other, most notably good, cities) actually helps your faction in getting into Paineel as they are followers of Cazic-Thule as well. Likewise, being of the Shadow Knight and Necromancer occupations, which usually result in lowered faction standings, help your faction with getting into this city.

Ok with that stated, I'm a Iksar Necro, you think that theres any chance for me getting into the city of Paineel with out having to raise my faction with them. If not what faction do I need to get? and where can you get it?

As an Ikky Monk, I was KoS my first time to Paineel. I am now Dub, after killing Kobalds in the Warrens, and in Stonebrunt. I would say to key on the warrens for faction as it seems faction hits are better in dungeons then in outside zones. I have been out of food and over 15 stone (bad ac hit for monks) for 2 days now because my forage skill blows and I'm a greedy loot *****. But other then that, I'm having a blast.

"Shackled Spirits" has to be the coolest bar on Norrath. And it has a brew barrel, and a friendly bartender... I'd like to waste some time learning brewing, and throwing parties in the bar. But I can't find anyone selling malt and barley.
Surely if there's a brew barrel, there must be someone selling brewing supplies? Anyone know who that might be?

I'm not certain, but I don't think faction is the only requirement for getting the key. I think you also have to be bound in Paineel.
When I tried to leave the city at level 6, I was bound in Erudin. After I died in Qeynos (of course), I tried to get back into Paineel to go to merchants for food, but the skels wouldn't give me the key.
Now at level 13, no faction changes, I've returned to Paineel, bound myself, and the skels are only too happy to give me a key. (Of course, not being dead, I already have one...)

i am a level 40 iksar monk and would it be adviseable to get a port to toxx and get a guide to lead me to warrens to lay waste to everything till i can waltz into erudin or will it take longer to get good with the brothers?

Ok IF you want the Key to Paineel OR the Hole do it a little sumtin like this! =)
IF you are KOS (as SHIMM the Magi was) you need to get your faction up with Paineel BUT I didn't want to hurt my Eurdite faction so I bout had to kill Kolbolds in the Warrens.
SHIMM 45 Magi with 44 level Fire Pet (best pet for low greens)
Start: I was KOS to the guards in the Paineel newbie area
Killed 604 Kolbolds in Warrens Runts to the King still KOS (3 hrs)
Killed 450 MORE Kolbolds in Warrens Runts to the King now I was Dubious (2 hrs)
Killed 472 MORE Kolbolds in Warrens Runts to the King now I was Amiable (2 hrs)
Killed a total of 1526 Kiolbolds and went from KOS to Amiable
When Amiable go to Skellie Guard in Paineel newbie area and Hail
Then Say, "I need key"
Bada-BING Bada-BOOM! Key to the Hole AND into Paineel

From the entrance into the city there is a ledge. Be very careful here, if you fall in, you will NOT get your body back without paying 200pp to a necro for a sumon corpse(the component for the spell costs that much which is why it's so high). Do not try to levitate down either you will lose levitate when you zone here. And even though there is such a long fall and enough time to cast levitate again once you zone, you cannot cast it there. GMs will not get your body back for you. This is a VERY VERY BAD ZONE DESIGN if you ask me Paineel is a newbie zone and they make a drop where noone can survive into a zone that you would need a group or more of 50+ characters to recover. My friend was not even moving, just close to the edge and fell in. Bye bye body. Stay clear.

Twas a wonderful day in the neighborhood. I fell in the pit. I was told I could levitate down. After two tries and two more deaths, I got on the web and found the answers. So to get my first body back, I had to buy three coffins, and get a necro to do 3 summons, 550pp and 7 hours later, I was able to start trying to get my lvl 29 back. Gawd I love this game.

So i guess there is no way to get a key to operate the elevator? can you loot it from the two skelly guards at the bottom of the lift or something? I know hailing them means they might attack you. Any suggestions on getting a key?

The Warrens are fantastically good, easy hunting for 9th level characters.
Stick to the Kobolds near the entrance(where you can beat a hasty retreat, if necessary). DONT USE A PET, if you are a shadow knight.
Low level pets will chase fleeing Kobolds and cause a massive train.
Rabid Kobolds and Kobold Guards are the best prey for a 9th level Ranger and Shadow Knight who have wisely paired up.

When you hail this guy, presumably an SK up in the loft over the newbie garden, he says something about a giat bat running away with his hat that was imbued with the power of Cazic-Thule. When he kill someone in the yard (he has a huge agro radius) he says "By the power of the Dreadful Cap!". Anyone found anything about this quest yet? Maybe its on the new patch (3/27/01) but if it was imbued then it sounds cool! Hopefully a Mantle of Souls item, though I couldnt believe it would drop off a giant bat...

Gah! I looked on the quest page and even though he's not in the Bestiary, the quest is there and it is nothing special :*-(. Oh well... at least it is funny to see him kite PC's across the yard hehe ;). I saw him fear a druid and he couldnt catch her because of SoW lol!!

i'm a dakelf necro, so i thought lats go 2 paineel and go hunt till lvl 20 or so and a new area. And then when i got there, i'm kinda KOS there cuz if you stand close 2 the guards LOADING PLEASE WAIT....... then when i wanted to train meditate in the nerco guild, i didn't had the key to zone into paineel the city =(, so a nice erud necro said that i should hail the guards for a key so i did and then LOADING PLEASE WAIT.....
so can some one plz responde and give me and answer how to raise faction or get a key to get into paineel, thx you if someone can help me out

I wouldnt suggest you bother with the cat men, spend time in the warrens, it wont take long and you should be able to go in the city, of course you will need a key to get in or get out.
The cat man are in the middle of nowhere, and they dont drop good loot.

Here's how you get there, first of all:
Zone into Paineel and take the tunnel to your left and follow it out into the newbie plain. Once in the plain stay to the right and you'll see another tunnel in the rock face. That's it.
LOC= POS 750 NEG 816 or around there anywayz...
ANYWAY, as East Commons is known for auctions and Everfrost is known for snow, this place will be known for trains in a very short time. TRAINS TRAINS TRAINS....this place seemed MADE to create trains from 2-3 mobs to 15+. I was lvl25 so they were mostly green to me but just scouting the place out, I got killed when i dropped through a false floor in the King's Room(i dunno..there was a cheap throne and actual masonary rather than just cave) and a buncha lil devils named "Mischievous Batlings" decided to roast me for lunch. I dropped into the basement and saw one so i immediately conned him to further my scouting and get a feel for the true level range. He looked at me and hit me with a Flame Burst...along with 20 of his friends. I tried to run (thus, creating a train!) and found an entire cave of these lil cretins. They were EVERYWHERE and all of em were lighting me up with fire-based spells. I was dead in no time and needed the help of a 40ish level person to drag it outta there for me.
BEWARE THIS PLACE IF YOU AREN'T FAMILIAR WITH DUNGEON/TRAINS ENVIRONMENTS!
One piece of advice, if someone says 'run'...RUN. Last one out is the first one dead.

Baking is one of the few trade skills (perhaps the only one now) where you can turn a profit without selling to other players.
Granted, you could probably make more money faster by adventuring, but still...

I have just died, and my corpse is not recoverable. Is there any way to get a new paniel key once you loose the one you start with?
