Erudin is the city of Erudites and is located along the boundary of Toxxulia Forest. This is the main city in which you'd find the library, several taverns and shops, as well as the Paladin and Cleric guild halls.

Today I saw an NPC called Archbishop on track while looking for NPCs that didn't have a picture in the beastiary. It was a green con to my level 30 druid and it despawned or got killed before I could get to it. I was killing fish and sharks at the time so I'm assuming it might be a named fish that gets eaten by the sharks just like the Nicked Coin NPCs do, or something like that. I'll have to mess around in Erudin some other time to see what this NPC actually is.

EDIT
A friend of mine said that it might've been a Link Dead player because players have con levels while they're link dead apparently, sorry if I sent anybody on a wild fish hunt...

I need to mention Nolusia Finharn from the Palace. She is on the porch of the Vasty Deep Inn every night. She's not listed as a GM but she is one (Enchanter Guild Master). In order to do the quest for Vasty Deep Water, you need to talk to her when she is in Erudin.

Involved with this quest: https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=2367
Unlike almost every other non-guard in Erudin, he can be cast on. (Alliance, notably.)

Updated with info on faction. He ran into a little trouble. Also, for a lvl 1, he has an awful lot of HP (a few thousand).

Good day to all. I have heard a rumor about an armor quest in Erudin somewhere. It is platinum armor of some kind. The guy is behind a locked door and you have to basically wipe out the kobold race to get the faction needed for the guards to give you the key to get to him. I could not get the guy who was doing it to tell me very much because I think he was afraid I would try o take his camp. Anyway, this is what I heard. Has anyone heard about this quest or have any clues?

I turned my initiate's letter in to guild master and he told me to see an NPC N... something or other. I found her in three locations. One on second floor of ENC Guild, one on same floor as transport crystal, and one on balcony of Inn across from the library. I have tried to get my training quest from her in all three places and have yet to get her to respond (faction is amiable). She only tries to give me some upper level quest that she runs as well. Anyone know which location and exactly what needs to be said to get it to go.

Going from the docks area, there is a tunnel that leads towards the main city. Go left upon entering that tunnel.

The tunnel will turn to the right almost immediately. Once past that turn, you will see a small set of stairs a good distance ahead, and a small walkway a few steps ahead on your right.

Turn right, and you will see a small flight of steps leading up into a stone terrace. Here one will find both the Priest of Discord on the left, and the Soulbinder on the right.

The 'easiest' way to raise erudin merchant faction is to gather treant chips from South Karana. Turning them in to Emil outside the Erudin gates.

They're part of a ranger quest but very good for faction. About 40 will get you to amiable, this was a lot easier back in the days of pre-kunark though.

LOL, just returned from a very short visit to Erudin. Lvl 22 Ogre Shaman (Rallos Zek follower). Got off the boat and onto the raft. As soon as the raft touches the docks this guard comes tearing acros the docks to start hiting me with his Ogre beating stick. By now the boat is gone so I figure might as well try making a run for the teleport gem. With SOW and around 500 HP/500 AC I made it to the gem with 5 HP left, teleport into the city proper, cast gate as soon as I appear and just gate out with at least two new guards running for me. This is the first character I've ever had that has started KOS to the guards (run several other flavors of evil through there with no trouble). Fair warning, this would be a terribly nasty CR, since the boat trip is to long for most any invises I've ever seen to last and they start beating on ya immediatly upon arival. LOL, I still can't believe I made it out of there with me Ogre skin intact, sigh. :)

Way back before we ever had the Luclin spires I took my Iksar SK through here to play around in the Warrens and see Stonebrunt. Stupid impatient me didn't want to wait around for a port to Toxx so I ran through Qeynos invis and stood on the end of the dock until the boat got there. Hopped on, etc. When the boat got to Erudin, I jumped off well before the docks and swam over to the rocks in the harbor. The rock shelves are out of guard range. Now even though I have Gather Shadows, it is notorious for dropping at he worst times. So I waited for a magician to show up on /who. Didn't take all the long, since most Eudites are casters. I recruited him to follow me thru and re-invis me as soon as mine started to drop. Sure enough mine started to drop in the palace courtyard. Luckily he was on the ball and got me re-invis'd in time. I made it through, he made 20pp and all was well. Moral of the story: If you don't have SoL, just swim over to the rock shelves and get invis before you run thru town. If ya have SoL, just avoid Erudin all together.

Greetings all, Chett Darkforest here. I am working on my Ivy Etched Armor Quests. I've been told that one of the components I need (2 star rubies), is sold by a merchant in Erudin. If anyone can confirm this for me plz let me know. Also, and probably more importantly (as the gems may be bought elsewhere, though I'm not sure where) are wood elves KOS to Erudites in both Erudin and Paineel? Or just Paineel? Thanks

RE: WILL i BE KOS

Depending upon religion and how many quests you have done to lower heretic faction, you will most likely be viewed threateningly by most members of the heretic faction. However, from what I found with my agnostic high elf enchanter using illusion erudite, I was not KOS to the skeletons that guarded the entrance to the Paineel newbie area.

What I did was use invisibility to tear past the entrance to the newbie area in order to not agro the high level heretics to the left and above the entrance and I entered the Warrens on the opposite side of the newbie zone.

The warrens is a very nasty dungeon for lower levels, however you should be able to pick off single kobolds at the entrance for an insignificant amout of cash and faction hits that raise heretic faction even solo at your level. I did so for about 45 minutes and was able to raise my faction with the heretics to the point of being merely dubious (apprehensive with alliance) while using illusion erudite. I was too chicken to attempt to test it in my normal sexy high elf form.

Should you decide to stay longer, I am sure you can raise this faction even higher and of course you can throw in your alliance line of spells to give it an added boost.

I hope this helps.

Easy way to test con with little to no risk is this: Use your Illusion/Alliance. Target the mob. Con the mob. Now run far away, out of aggro range. Out of sight. Remove spells, but don't target anythning else. Just hit "C" again (or whatever your Consider key is) and re-con them. I'm evil, so I do this all the time. Target while invis, run away, drop invis, re-con. Saved my *** many a time.

I have created an Enchanter that starts is Erudin. When I go to the guild master and give him the paper, he tells me to go see Nolusia.

When I go see Nolusia, and hail her, she asks did the guild master send me and was a visitor or a citizen of Erudin. I answered citizen and she tells me to meet her at the Inn at night. Okay.

Go see her at the Inn and hail her, and she tells me I have to do business with her at the Palace in the morning. Anyone see where this is going?

I can't seem to figure out what's going on and why it's looping. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

Kadthar Here for Beetlebrow, whose large fingers and small brain make typing difficult.
To improve your faction with most Erudin factions, proabably including the Temple to Quellious, go to Toxxulia forest and at the coast, near the small dock is a heretic named Elial Brook. Killing him will raise your standing with many factions in Erudin, but drop them in Paineel. I know it raises faction with the high guard and all three caster guilds, and I think it helps out with the two clerical factions as well. Try this. Also, killing Heretic prophets will help too. Be careful, as basically you are by doing this swearing eternal enmity to the Heretics, and will probably never make it into Paineel again.

raise gate keeper (wizzy guild)
raise crafter (chanter guild)
raise (the mage guild ferget name)

it does not help eith the guards and only 1 of the cleric guilds

The Guard/Merchant faction is easy.. go into the Warrens and kill for about 8 hours, and you'll easily get Indifferent from ready to attack. (Personal experience at level 45)

This place is actually great hunting for level 34-40 necromancers! There are two level 30 guards that wander around the city. Both of them wander around a 'block' of buildings though, so you can easily fear kite them and get good exp. 99% of the time no one else will be camping the guards, Mainly becuase no one wants to go to Erudin. However for necros, this city is great. Just make sure you keep the guards feared. Once they get below 50% health they will do Lay hands on themselves.
Dark Elves in Erudin - Faction Issues
# Nov 28 2000 at 7:54 PM Rating: Decent
As one who likes to explore, and work on trade skills, I was making an effort
to get non-KoS in as many spots as possible, so of course, eventually
wandered off to Erudin.

I was a dark elf warrior, who followed Rallos Zek. The following information is
from that perspective. If you are a dark elf who follows a more evil god, some
of this might not apply.

Anyway, by default, I was mostly dubious or apprehensive to the residents of
Erudin, with a couple of notable exceptions. The priests/paladins of the
temple of Quelious hated my guts, and all three caster guilds as well.
Because of this the 3rd floor of the Palace was off limits, as well as the
Quelious Temple. But you can get around quite well even with these restrictions.
The guards started off Dubious, the merchants at apprehensive. Prexus priests/
paladins were dubious. So I could sell and bank (but prices were bad).

From the docks after you hit the first teleporter, be very careful. The
temple of Quelious will be immediately to your left, and they will scowl
like crazy. Luckily, they will not agro on you from your teleport location
so its ok to pop in, just don't go left even a little. If you want to go to
the Palace (to bank, etc) go up the steps past the fountain on the right
side, to avoid the agro paladin outside the temple door. There is a
mail bard up here, so if you've pissed off the bards, its your own fault
when he jumps you.
Also, stear clear of the Vasty Deep Inn (on the North side of the Library),
there is a caster type that hangs out on the balcony just outside, who
scowls mightily. The Library is safe, as is the Prexus temple, Blue
Hawks and the merchants in the buildings east of the Vasty Deep Inn.

Faction raising...

Before going to Erudin, make a trip to the centaur stables in South
Karana, and buy up as many 'wood chips' as you feel comfortable with.
These are treant chips, that people sell from killing treants (might
not be any to buy, but usually always are for me). You can also get
these in a few other places (ie: a fellow at the Hogcaller Inn in
West Freeport in exchange for small lanterns (though he will be KoS
to a dark elf by default (though wolf form probably helps))). So they
are reasonably easy to acquire, just takes some traveling...
Once you get to Erudin, head through town, into Toxxulia Forest,
and go to the building just to the right as you exit the front gates.
Give the wood chips to a erudite man named Parsini. This will raise
your faction with the Erudin guards, Merchants, and high Council, with
no negative faction hits. (it is part of a quest in the temple of
Quelious, but you don't need to worry about the rest of it... they will
still hate you. =))

If you want to get non-KoS to the caster guilds, that takes alot more
work, and you can not do it without destroying your Paineel factions
as far as I can tell. By default, I was dubious in Paineel, but was not
able to acquire a key with this faction to go up and check the city
proper.
To raise caster factions you either have to kill the necro by the dock
in Toxxulia, or the Diseased Shark that sometimes shows up in the
harbour by the docks in Erudin. (The shark does not give faction, but
once you kill it, from 3 to 7 baby sharks spawn, and each of these
do give faction. The babies are level 1 or 2, though their mommy is
in her teens somewhere) I suspect the shark is a triggered spawn,
though could not test it with my DE, might have been coincidence.
It is a quest with the guild leader of the Prexus paladins, who will
not give you the quest if you are dubious (which I was).

Anyway, just some pointers for anyone looking to work up Erudine
factions, or wondering how their DE might fare in that town.

I can confirm everything that was said here.
I am a Darkelf Necro, worshipping Innoruuk, and i was KoS to everyone in Erudin. The quickest faction to raise is the Merchant Faction, which can be done by the treant chips. 3 stacks raised me to indifferent with them. Killing the necro by the docks will raise the faction slowly, but giving the 'bones' of him to the caster guild will raise the faction fast again. 1 stack raised me from dubious to warmly with the Gate Callers. The rest can be raised by killing kobolds :)

Except for the Temple of Quellious, I am able to wander freely in Erudin and Paineel (got my key when i was amiably, now i am back to dubious again). I would love to raise my faction with the clerics/paladins of quellious, but it seems to be (almost) impossible for me....

if you want to improve your fraction with the heretics after improving with the casters..go o warrens and kill millions of kobolds..this also raise erudin guard fraction and lowers kobold(big woop)
