Erudin is the city of Erudites and is located along the boundary of Toxxulia Forest. This is the main city in which you'd find the library, several taverns and shops, as well as the Paladin and Cleric guild halls.

Hunting for Newbies
# Nov 14 2000 at 12:34 AM Rating: Default
The best spot to hunt for levels 1 to 4 is actually the newbie hunting area in Paineel; the only question is, if you choose one of the good religions if you would be KOS to the guards. As an agnostic wizard, the two skeleton in the entrance tunnel where only dubious (but I got the same dialog my cleric of Cazic-Thule did). The guards at the newbie area were also dubious, but I got an unfriendly reply when I hailed them. (by the way, the merchants in Paineel wouldn't sell to me, but the guards didn't attack either).

The Paineel newbie area is never foggy like the forest is, and only has one rare spawn higher than about 2nd level (it is "?somebody's? pet" skeleton, and is part of a necro quest in paineel.

Casasak, Erudite wizard.

kill the skellys that mine near the pain ent...kill the wandering abandoned heretic pet first ...cus he comes to talk to the 2 miners and will agro if he sees u fighting them they will be even-red to you prolly but they are that hard...but they do hit hard sometimes..in the 20s
but i broke that camp and started killing them the 1st time at lvl 6 and they spawn quick so you will fly thru lvls til like 9th then it slows down but still decent xp til 10-11..when i bored i still killed them at 12-13 because spawn time is so quick also kill any kobold scouts u see run by and if they drop the worthles coth cap give it to miner for some decents items(caps are rare drops and rarely get good things from turning them in but what the heck if you get the fractured femur or the bone sheild it will be worth the death of a lowly kobold)

Hmm Im wondering if I seriously messed up my erudin Faction when doing the necro (spell queat Bat wings/snake fangs )about 15 times for an evil erudin cleric.

Ah well will have to be a hermit here for a long long time.

nope actually evil clerics start with better faction in Erudin than everyone or so I've heard, plus the faction loss from 15 level 1 quests is insignificant, remember not all faction hits are of the same Power, Killing a koalindi fish in qeynos will drop your faction ALOT more than doing something for the people in the qeynos sewers ;)

Ok I have decided to enter my Zone Strategy For Erudin Because No one Else Would ;)

This is the home of the "good" erudites, Enchanters, magicians and, Wizards. (oh yea and paladins and good-god practicing clerics but no one ever plays them anyways hehe)

One of the biggest mis-conceptions about this city is that evil erudites (necromancers shadowknights, and those evil clerics) are kos here and have to work on their faction before they can leave for qeynos. This is wrong. Go ahead and go to qeynos (but make sure you get off the boat early in qeynos, just cuz we good erudites like ya don't mean those cows, I mean humans will.

There are a couple of points of interest to this city. The most notable is the Library. Yes the Stupid have to walk half way across the world to get a stupid spell libraries. They are found only in Neriak Erudin and Ak'Anon. Erudites and Gnomes have the advantage of being able to go to all 3. Everyone else basically suffers. Now... Of the mana spells sold here are Item summonings for magicians and Special Illusions for Enchanters, Bards even have songs sold here. The Erudin Library is impossible to miss, its the building with the big words Library of Erudin (or something to that extent written on it).

Also Found in Erudin Proper are the Paladin and Clerical Guilds. This is where those wisdom loving classes Can Train and such. The City is accessed through "gem-portals" pieces of blue crystal which allows you to gate from one to another. The Tox forest Gem is down in an area that is fairly dark, If you can't turn up your gamma or brightness you will be hurting as a starting erudite, maybe beg for a beetle eye. The Tox Forest Area is right on the same courtyard as the library paladin guild (deepwater knights) and the vasty deep inn. At the end opposite the tox forest zone on the left is a general store for milk and such. Also on this end is a path leading to the other half of Erudin Proper.

This area you will see a weapon shop (worthless), a pond, 2 gems, and a clerics guild (worthless hehe). The gem that has 2 ladders going up to it leads to the Erudin Palace, which contains such places as the Enchanter Magician and Wizard guilds on the upper levels as well as a bank jewellerycraft shop and a few other stores on the bottom level.

If you take the other Gem you will arrive at the docks area. Right across from where you gate in is the gem to gate out. This is also a dark area, but not too dark for our erudite eyes. Here you will find the POD Just destroy the PK note, you can always get another one by talking to the POD don't listen to people who say save the note in the bank. But why oh why would anyone want to become pk anyways... Anyways moving on, at the end of the large room you gated into is the actual docks, Here you will find several merchants offering such their wares. The Muffin Vendor is here. you can also buy some other trinkets here, but I found no real use for the other vendors ;). The Port authority is here (waste of space) and finally the white landing craft that leads to the boat when it arrives. Unfortunatly the craft is treated just like a boat so you can't practice your spells, but at the same time leaves without warning so you have to be really careful when practicing spells. Ready to jump on the second it moves.

I hope you enjoyed this little tour of one of the best achetectural (sp?) sites in Norrath. Too bad the city is in 2 zones, Its much better when you can do all your shopping in 1. Oh well you won't find much use for this city other than the library.

The only reason they [clerics and paladins] are played so rarely is that power gaming meglomaniacs like yourself cant handle not having the best stats in exchange for being something cool and original.
