so there are two right? I was confused also,
there are some classic model version of kerrans on erud's crossing (still can be accesed from qeynos harbor) the original location of kerra isle, the isle got merged with toxxulia forest with updated hd models of the kerrans so now it is located on the western side of toxx forest.
Still there

Wrong island. You're thinking of the one in Erud's Crossing with the kerra isle beetles. The one here is the one you swim to or take the small boat from the dock in Toxx Forest. There is no translocator here. There has always been confusion about the two places.

What did they get rid of? Everything that was in the original zone is still there, all they did was get rid of the zone boundary.

Just to fill you in a bit...

The Kerra have lived on Odus for a long time. The Erudites have always thought of them as an "inferior" and "savage" race. The Kerra are sentient beings, and while you do not NEED good faction with them, from a roleplaying aspect, either way works. It is possible (and rather easy, in fact) to have both the Erudites and the Kerra as friends.

You could either be an Erudite who buys into his race's prejudices and hates the Kerra, or you could go "against the mold" and see the good in the Kerra. Personally, I like working with the Kerra, as they have some nice quests, and I like using their hometown as a minor city zone (merchants, fishing, tradeskills, etc).

I was soloing this place last night with my lvl 18 ranger, and it seems like everything on the entire island is on the same faction. The gorillas, all the kitties, the WILD tigers, everything. The only two exceptions I found to this rule were the Spikefish and the Wharf Rats. Unless you want the whole zone down on your head or you have a group, then you are stuck killing just these.

Went hunting last night with a couple buddies. When we entered the zone, the faction of the halfling and the wood elf was indifferent, but the Ogre was KOS - which got us into the thick of the battle quickly.

We were all melee (lvl 15 bard, lvl 16 warrior, lvl 16 rogue), so working this zone can be a bit tough because the MOB's like to run. Some of the mob's are also casters, healing up their buddies as the fighting goes on.

Beware: when you pull to the zone entrance, the dying mobs will run (with SOW speed) to other mobs adjacent to the zone tunnel. Fortunately, the fleeing mobs didn't seem to cross the bridge. Someone with snare/root is a must while fighting in this zone.

The XP is excellent for mid-teen levels. Loot is not that great, primarily food (which is nice), a Karran doll (apparent quest item?), and an occasional 1hb bamboo weap worth 3 pp.

My Druid alt (31) and another duid (29) took a chanter alt (8) to Kerra Isle for some powerleveling. EXCELLENT place to PL! I mean excellent. Of course it helps that we were the only ones in the zone.

I am pulling rats for the chanter, hitting her with a damage shield, just letting the rats kill themselves. So my druid buddy wants to explore the zone since he is indiffernt and 99% is green anyway. So he changes into wolf form for some added speed, and PULLS THE ENTIRE ZONE.

Who would have guessed that an entire island of CATS wouldnt like doggies? ROFL

Let this be a lesson for you druids, no wolf form in the new Luclin city!

Went there with my lvl 11 erudite ench yesterday. Was KOS as erudite, but dubious as half elf and indif as wood elf (didn't try gnome). The two that guard the zone line were yellow mamluks; ghulams were always red. Isupsars were yellow or red. In the 5-10 min I was there, the only mob I saw that was far enough away from everything else that it wouldn't aggro anything was the catfisher, which was blue; other than that, everything seemed to be at least in pairs. I didn't go out to the tiger island, so that may be different.

I went there solo last night with my lvl 12 enchanter. There's two sets of two spawns that you can see almost as soon as you enter the zone. The front two right at the end of the tunnel, the second two at a bridge just behind them.

Attacking the front pair doesn't aggro the back ones. I found that i could lull one then pull the other, kill it, med up, kill the second, med up, and repeat the process with the back pair. By the time i finished medding up from the last of the bridge Kerrans, the first of the entrance pair would respawn.

The nice thing is, these were for the most part white cons, with the occasional blue or yellow thrown in. I wound up gaining a yellow bubble of exp in about a half hour.

Being level 12 rather than 11 makes a HUGE difference. The level 12 animation can keep one of these cats busy while you debuff and dot it, then nail it with a chaotic feedback or two. By now, the mob will be on you rather than your pet, but will also be down a ton of hit points. It's actually good that it turns on you in fact... your animation will be down about 3+ bubbles of health itself, and if it folds, you run.

The important thing to remember is, if the mob runs, and you can't stop or drop it before it gets friends involved, zone. Immediately. The life you save WILL be your own.

I'm hitting it again tonight when i get home. going to see if i can hit 14 by bedtime.

Oh no! please don't tell me you're going to ruin your Kerran faction now. Do you know how many Erudites you have to kill to get that faction back? No clerics, druids, or shamen should hunt here if they ever plan on doing their Paw quest. It can still be done, but why make things harder on yourself than you need to? I agree for any other classes that this place is great fun hunting, but don't ruin your faction before you get your Paw.

Groups are a great benefit. Especially to a non-twinked 8th level druid. Hunting will be difficult for you by yourself, to say the least. Best strategy for lower levels in groups is to pull to zone and fight there. Higher levels should camp beyond the bridge and pull there. Don't forget how to get back to zone though or you may be running around creating a massive train until you reach the bridge. This is a great hunting spot because it has good loot, several quest items, and lots of excellent experience! Also, it is almost always empty. Thusa, no problems with waiting for good camping spots or major trains (which would be a big porblem here if the place was camped heavily).

On servers such as Tallon or Vallon Zek, this is a great area to do quests in, especially if you are having trouble with Erudites, or Heretics. Both of these groups start out KoS to the Kerrans and can have trouble following you in here. To most other races, nothing in this zone starts out KoS. It can be a great area to quest for some fairly nice items, including three of the Paw of Opalla rings, a weight reducing BP, and some good head slot items. Aside from that, the Kerran's are a fun race to talk too, pretty much everyone will at least say hello, and there are a few people who gives out various information that really isn't a quest.

If you noyice as you are walking around there will be a bush right next to a hut. If you stand behind this bush and pull from the 2 mobs in front of you and 2 mobs to the right of you nothing will aggro you. Made 3 bubs here in like 2 1/2 hours at lvl 16. Although prime hunting would be with a buddy..we had two necros with 2 pets

If you have good faction (virtually anyone non-Erudite) then you can reconnoiter this area fairly easilly. But once you starting killing cats then the fun begins and trains of MOB's will agro you.

The most important part of working this area is to make sure you kill the two awrats which are at the entrance which is one of the few places you can safely pull MOB's. If you pull too much then Zone. It is helpful if you kill then separately so that you do not have to kill them together. Awrats heal the pulled MOB and can make a simple kill real hell for anyone. Also, if you are pulling other MOBs try not to do it near other Awrats, they may be low level but make life difficult.

This is a pretty easy place to work with lots of food provided as Loot and a convient zone to escape trouble. Also the 20% experience premium recently added is a real boon. ROOT is the most invaluable asset to have but Harmony and good pulling techniques comming in second. You can solo if patient but a group is the best way to pull in the good MOBs and loot.

This is an easy zone to camp. I started the zone at level 15 and soloed the enrace till lvl 18. I also watched 2 level 13's grouped go to level 18 i about the same amount time or less, so I would have to say the zone is much more effected with 1 partner. On another note. If you do run out of magic to snare or root. DO NOT chase them. They will run in a pattern that aggroes as many as possible, but if you run the OPPOSITE direction as them or toward the zone line you can usually med up a snare or root while they run back and forth within range trying to get you to follow them. Looks pretty funny watching them trying to taunt you. If they do run out of spell range they just forget about you, so just pull close to zone and about 8 hours later you will gain 2-3 LEVELS till 18.

I wish to speak with you of the kerra tiger pit on the strange..almost crafted island in the water straight out from the docks. Upon this island you I have discovered two very different forces.

THe first seems to be the Elite Veterinary guild of the Kerra race (spathi ? what is a tiger spathi ?). That being a group of Kerra warriors and priestesses guarding a small tiger pit full of ..you guessed it..kerra tigers. It is in the pit that the rare spawn Jojo, who drops newbie claw-like weapons in known to spawn. In the center of the pit is a raised platform that the Kerra tiger Spathi spawns..who is known to drop the Cat of Nine tails...I very nice whip that casts agility on the user. I had a lvl 50 wizard friend go in there and try to uber-nuke everything to death...it wasnt pretty and he died twice ..the kerra tigers hit like they are in the high 30's and all the kerra on the island aggro'd on him thouggh all were very green

At other times on this island is inhabited by Erudite necromancers...I am not sure of their purppose...but I'm not sure of the purpose of this whole zone as the kerra are so different from all other norathian locals. I suppose you could try and kill them from erudite faction..but there are a whole bunch of them and they will also aid eachother..so its prob a bad idea

If you are in the middle range for this zone, about level 15, and not twinked to the brim then there are some nice small quests you can do here. One of the first rewards you can get is a 3ac 2agi necklace, decent on anyone at level 10. As you progress in level you can do the higher and more far ranging quests, some taking you as far away as Lesser Faydark.
RE: Quests
# Sep 03 2000 at 10:00 PM Rating: Decent
I've done a couple of the quests here, and I have to say I'm pretty impressed with the rewards. You must be at least /apprehensive for the Kerrans to deal with you.

In particular, the Silvani Leaf quest results in a fairly nice little shoulder slot item- Worn Leather Shoulderpads. The AC isn't that great (AC4 I think it is), but they are +4 to strength and are All/All! I don't know if any other item has such a combination of stat bonus and being useable by everyone. The one drawback here is that you must travel literally from one end of the world to the other (Kerra Isle to Lesser Faydark) to secure the Silvani Leaf (it is gotten by killing a brownie named Ivie Bramblefoot- I'd say the brownie is mid 20s, as it gave xp to me at 31), so it is clearly easier for mobile classes (druids, wizzies, players with a good friend who are one or the other) to complete.

A second quest results in a weigh-reducing backpack- the rough leather sack. I did this one, but I'm not as impressed with the results as the Silvani Leaf one. The Sack reduces items' weight placed within it by 33%, but it is only a 6-slot pack. One of the items you must tun in to get it is a 10 slot pack, so the reward might not be worth giving up the components. read up on the other details of the quest in Alla's Quest Database.

Remember in this zone there are a large number of healers, and also most things hit a bit harder than they con. So dont spare the mana when you get your target down low, or he will soon be healed. Also due to the odd pathing you will want to pull a few times to determine how to get what you want without getting swarmed.
