Revamped on August 26, 2003 during Legacy of Ykesha, this is the higher level version of
Cazic-Thule.

The Accursed Temple of Cazic Thule sits in the southern portion of the Feerrott. Dwelling within its boundaries are a whole host of lizardmen worshippers and various aggressive species ranging from spiders, raptors, and giant mosquitoes to bubbling oozes, gorillas, and greenblood piranha, all of which fiercely protect the temple grounds.

Note: For the higher level revamp version of this zone, which is available during the "Hardcore Heritage" event in june, click here.

Hi all. I'm a troll shaman on Vallon. I have been around Cazic, and on my server, darkies control it. Seeing as we lack another mid level dungeon not on Kunark, many of us stop over at Cazic for our mid levels. I found that you have all levels within Allakhazam's level range there. You can't get around it. Lighties have all other midlevel dungeons. And we all know dungeons have the most exp. If you are a darkie, and on Vallon, you will find many people there, of all levels, taking on everything....There are more dead lizzies than live players at times. *Babies...Fun to make....Fun to eat*
What level can I start?

Explanation of the rooms
# Oct 10 2000 at 12:06 PM Rating: Excellent
For those who are here researching because you don't know where the rooms are or what is found there, I hope this can explain some of the things most other posters here have assumed you already know.

When you first enter the zone, there's a small hallway then a set of double doors that lead to the courtyard (CY). This area mostly has low level mobs that are green by the 20s, but they like to run to their higher level friends so if you're hunting be careful! Immediately to the left of the doors is a little cubbyhole where you can med fairly safely. There is also a tree in the back right corner that higher level groups usually form at.

The door to the right as you enter the CY goes to the maze. Always go invis the first few times you go in here, to learn the way(s) out. There are only two, and there are lots of lizzies (defender level approx.) and dead ends. Learn some of the landmarks, like the ruins with and without ivy, campfires, wiz port, etc. This is also the path to the temple, so if you're going to be hunting in the area long, learn it.

The temple-- also known as temple top, wall, 4 corners, back, or zig-- is accessed by the maze. It's basically a big square area with a pyramid. Usually groups set up along the wall opposite the door, where the stairs to the pyramid start. As long as you are against the wall, lizards won't aggro. Each of the four corners has 2-3 lizards, and a few on each level of the pyramid as well. The very top has the Tae Ew Archon, who drops RS arms or lizardscale belt. Crusaders are often found in this area (have seen two a night). This is a GREAT place to hunt with a group of 30-35. One group of that level can take everything in the area (although some insist there are enough for two groups).

At the very top of the temple is a place you can jump to the sewers, but I don't recommend using that method to get there, you can't get out the same way you entered. I haven't hunted in the sewers yet (or Avatar of Fear) because of my level, but headed there soon.

When you're in the CY, near the back wall there is a door to the left that leads to a hallway. At the branch of the hall, if you go to the right, you'll get to the throne room (TR or TAE). I've never gone to the left. The TR is good for mid-twenties to low 30s. Around level 33 things there will start turning green. The easiest way to break the room is to enter and go directly to the right into the corner. Fight the wanderers that caught you on the way in, then it's time for harmony/soothe/feign death pull. There are two lizards at the doorway, a couple more a bit farther in, then the main throne room. The room itself has 2 hulking gorillas and 3 lizard spawns (2 are where the Tae Ew Diviner and Tae Ew Templar spawn). Once you have cleared this room, go on inside to the throne area and pull to there. One of the Tae Ew lizzies is an enchanter that likes to charm, so one or two should have cancel magic available. The Taes drop lizardscale mantle, lizardscale cloak, RS legs, RS bracers (that I've seen).

Above the TR is another room, sometimes called the upper throne room. There are a lot of mobs here, and I've never been in a group that tries to hunt them, but I hear there are crusaders occasionally. Usually when I'm in the zone on Terris Thule, there is nobody in the upper TR.

The other spot that people often refer to is the alligators, also referred to as steel golem spawn or blue and green pools. To get there, climb the ladders to get above the double doors to the entrance and go in the door to the right. You'll get to a room that has a well in it. You can endure breath if you want, but any swimming skill over 50 or so will be fine swimming it. To go down the well, jump in and spiral to the bottom, then follow the hall to an opening into a pool. There are alligators here so you will get attacked. From the pools there is a hall of land where you can rest and pull to. There are quite a few alligators in the area, and in the green pool (I think) in the very back is where the steel golem appears. He drops ravenscale (not sure which piece).

I hope this helps!

Great post. Just to add a few points. The alligators in the sewers do not aggro but the are social. The golem drops the Raven Scale Boots. He hits like a Sand Giant and is highly magical resistant. Other than that the sewers are a nice place to level. Sadly this zone is pretty far away from any bind spots I can use so its rare that I get to hunt here.
Shadow Knights and Decayed
# Oct 04 2000 at 11:46 AM Rating: Default
Been in CT since 24, and got lucky a couple times and got some decayed - once convinced a group to fight way to 4c when not camped and another time, someone managed to pull a crusader into CY. However, I'm getting to the frustrated stage (just about 27th now). It is very hard to get anyone to accept me into a 4c group, there aren't any Crusaders in TR (unless there are in upper??). I hear rumors that sewers/ponds may have some, but can't convince anyone we should start clearing it out. Does anyone have any advice for me (and the other 5 or 6 24-29 lvl SK's I run into in CT on Luclin server)? Thanks!

I have found that Crusaders most often spawn at the temple, which is deep within the maze, and near the Avvy room, all of the places they spawn are well populated with lizards. I believe there is always one crusader somewhere, after its spawn time, it has a random spawn location, I hope you get your Darkforge.

Places Crusaders spawn...Temple(seems to be the best),Sewers(second best),AoF pool room. And the area with the Silver guards. Seem to be the only places were they will spawn. me and a friend have a theroy that Zelots are the PHs for the crusaders.

Note...it seems that the Sewer Crusaders have a better chance at droping arms and some of the decayed, and vis versa the temple ones seem to drop legggings more with some other. Been awhile since I got my first suit of darkforge on Xegony.

Sadly..I have just reentered the game fo Darkforge hunting with my new SK on Tholuxe Paells.

One thing I would like to say..I don;t understand why people hate 4c so much. it has always seemed the saftest place in CT..no trains, only trains that happen here are in are control...if you have a good group..and a good puller (that does't let aggro mobs run all over) you are fine.

People hate 4c because to get to it you have to fight through the maze. I had an unfortunate experience with it today. Grouped with a troll who said he knew the zone like the back of his hand. We made it to 4c safely and started pulling. After a few pulls things got out of hand and we needed to run. You shoulda seen that troll go, he was long gone before we knew it and we were all killed in the Maze. Now try making a CR there bud. Not very fun at all, especially if you dont know the maze well
where YOU should hunt
# Aug 27 2000 at 5:16 PM Rating: Good
ok, now, first off i fought in cazic from lvl 20- lvl 35 so i do know what im saying here....

imo there are two types of people in cazic, the people that come here for the FS, rare drops, and the pp (that was me). And theres the rare amount of people who come here for the exp. If you are the first kinda person read my #1 section, if your the second read #2

1) ok, so you want the cash, thats cool, you came to the right place, at early levels like low twenties you have no good cheises except pulling from the maze out into the CY, i highly recomend you stay out of the maze unless your pulling, it can get crazy in there. the exp here is decent (not that you care) and there is some FS of defenders and such so loot isnt bad. Once you hit the mid-high twenties, you have a few options, the TR, 4c, or gators. being that you are reading this because your in it for the money, i recomend the TR, tons OF FS! and some rare drops like lizzie cloak and mantle and some RS. breaking this place is ROUGH and the fact the there is some horrible group in the UTR that keeps trianing on you doesent help either, but hey, at least you get your loot. You can stay here till about low thirties really, even though at that point you will be high. If you love cazic so much that you wanna stay i recoment hitting the AoF, hes really not bad, get in a good group and your fine and dandy, plus BTC and RS BP drop here, not bad :) at 35 you really gotta go, thats about it for your cazic career

2) ok, so you want the exp, thats cool (THE LOOT HERE IS REALLY GOOD THOUGH :) first just like every1 else you need to do the CY, no way around it, good exp, yaaaaaaa. so then at about 25 you have some choises.. gators, 4c, TR... TR is mainly for loot, and 4c can be tough being that if you get in trouble you in a bad spot to run for the zone, so try out the gators, best exp in cazic but no loot (but you dont care.... do ya)you can stay here till bout 32ish maybee... or you can do 4c.. near as good exp w/ same loot, so the choice is youres.. your cazic career is probly over near lvl 32 or so.. theres probly somwhere else with a fraction better exp so im sure you will be there.

Peace

What I did
# Sep 01 2000 at 7:02 PM Rating: Default
25 - Worked the TR and pools area's in groups until 29 or so.

29 - 32 Worked gator pools and sewers, also temple back

32-34 sewers (at this point pools suck as does TR) and of course temple back/top

35-37 temple top, sewers (safer than temple) and AoF room

I would rate the areas as follows (lowest to highest)
CY
pools
TR & upper TR
sewers
temple and temple top
aof room

Below 25th I wouldnt even go there. Yes you get XP, but you will do nothing but **** people off with your trains to zone. In addition, when people bail out from sewers/pools/tr/temple thier trains will wipe you out.
RE: What I did
# Dec 17 2000 at 11:47 PM Rating: Default
I disagree that 25 is the lowest to come here (and i'm not talking about people in their teens getting Power Leveld, I've even seen a level 9 try to get PL'd, big surprise he died fast), I started switchin between here and goblins in HHK at level 20 when a friend introduced me to Cazic.. At that time we were in a rather small group, pulling alligators from the well singly, and I was able to mez any of the greenie lizards that tried to help (i'm an enchanter btw), the alligators can be real tough but with good tank and healer (and someone with damage shield helps a lot too) we never had to run for zone.

Another good thing to do that I haven't seen mentioned here is to get a group camping inside the maze, the dead ends are relatively safe as you wont get any wandering mobs while you are medding, altho some of the dead ends have lizards spawn there but singles should be no big deal. With a good puller you will only get one or two, maybe three at a time, but when you mess up you can get more (but that is the same anywhere else in here pretty much) and it gets hairy, the main trouble with these camps is escaping when it gets TOO hairy, it is a maze after all and until you get to know it well you get lost easily, not to mention you will almost certainly run into other lizards to add to the train.

Level 23 I got into a group of 26-28's to camp LTR, yes it's dangerous, yes there were mobs I couldnt mez, yes I died several times =) But in the end I made enough exp to come out well ahead from when we started, and I made about 100pp in loots and FS in 5 hours as well, very nice if you ask me, almost as good as when i hit a lucky streak getting HQ bear pelts in WC..

The most important thing to have in Cazic is a good group, that is the main factor behind your success here, just like everywhere else. In pick-up groups this can be difficult, you'll always find people who need to be constantly reminded to /assist the tanks, altho i've seen tanks who insist on fighting a different mob as well

Where to hunt
# Aug 24 2000 at 12:31 AM Rating: Good
I dont know what maniac thinks that it is ok to hunt Cazic at lvl 15 but imho you should stay in the courtyard(the open area thru the first doors when you zone in) at 20 or find a Dead End group
(there are 2 Dead Ends in the maze, which is inside the Courtyard first door on the right).Stay in the corners of the Yard until you are familiar with the area so you can zone because this area produces some of the nastiest trains in the game!!Dead End 2 is the best(fewer trains)but you need a full party and a balanced group to attempt this. This is where a good enchanter (for mezzing) and a good puller(to keep from pulling the whole dungeon an easy thing to do) are vital to the group. This is all imho thanks
I tried to post as a name but i am Khasding Thaumaturge 24 Mage Povar
RE: Where to hunt
# Aug 29 2000 at 1:38 PM Rating: Good
Well the "maniac" is correct. You can fight warriors and broodlings for exp at 15, if you are in a group. At 22 this stuff is nothing more than green yard trash, good for killing to get rid of the things slowing the framerates on the computer....

A decent little group of 15 - 18 could make thier names known in Cazic by simply taking out the trash for us older bored players and would possibly be able to cash in on bodies that have loot left on them from a pull from the other groups that they didn't want. So don't deny the ability of someone lower that 20 acting in there, plus it is a GREAT place to learn grouping tactics.

RE: Where to hunt
# Nov 28 2000 at 12:42 PM Rating: Default
Theres a few hallways inside the two temples up the stairs in cy full of the lower lvl lizzy's and the other double doors lead eventually to a room with about 8 lizzy's spaced out around it...this seems like a good place for lowbies to hunt...though I was lvl 32 when I saw em and they were all green, but somehow they still all aggroed on me, its ok though, I got a res:)
I agree however...
# Sep 01 2000 at 7:09 PM Rating: Default
Make it clear you mean *group*..

#1) If you are 15-22 and do not have a group before you even enter cazic, dont think for a minute you will find one inside.

#2) If you think you are going to solo in cazic at level 15-22 and live, you wont. Not only that you will probably annoy everyone with the trains you create!

That said, yes if you have an existing group of 15th - 20th then by all means try it out. Just do not think you will solo here unless all you are doing is standing at the entrance (not even in CY).

On my server (Karana) there are usually 30 players in Cazic. The majority are level 28-38, a few level 24-28 (1 or 2) and ZERO people < level 20 (in 10 levels of cazic I never seen anyone below level 22, not that they cant do it but NO groups in the zone need a player that low).
RE: I agree however...
# Nov 28 2000 at 12:45 PM Rating: Default
This is true, hard to find a low lvl group in Cazic and not advisable to solo, plus higher lvl trains are fairly frequent through CY so dont expect an easy time taking on the one or two whimpy guards...you might find yerself face to face with a Tae Ew diviner (It's happened to me more than once) Or at least a few other lizzy's. You cant blame people for training here, it is a way of life...
Cazic tops out at 40
# Aug 23 2000 at 2:14 AM Rating: Default
I have hunted in Cazic Thule all the way to 40, and some people stay even after that.

The places to hunt for good experience that will get you to 40 are in the sewers and in the Avatar of Fear group. Both of these places are usually camped, but the rotation of players in and out of the groups has been fairly quick in my experience. Plus you will be able to pick up all the fine steel you care to carry, and the occasional Rune, Word, or Potion.
Best spot in CT
# Aug 22 2000 at 8:01 PM Rating: Default
The best place in all of CT is when u reach lvl 30 (hell lvl) is to go down to the crocs and camp the SG cause the alligators down there are SWEET XP and are easy to kill and go all the way up to lvl 33 so u can stay there till like 35 and still get sweet XP.....also u can get lucky and get to the SG and maybe get some RS if u get even luckier but the SG is pretty damn hard so be careful
RE: Best spot in CT
# Aug 24 2000 at 8:07 AM Rating: Decent
If you are 30+ the best spot is a blue flame group. Breaking the spawn will be a test for your group at the beginning but no problem if you have a decent group balance. At L32 i have found more evens and yellow cons there then at four corners or tae court yard.
spawn breaking
# Nov 28 2000 at 12:47 PM Rating: Default
Ok I'm a lvl 33 chanter and I went there once, breaking the spawn was a lot of fun, mez'd like nuts and all. But when that was all done we were fighting one or two alligators at a time and waiting for spawns....got bored and left. Much more steady flow of xp in ltr or utr IMO.
RE: Best spot in CT
# Aug 23 2000 at 4:07 PM Rating: Good
I prefer 4 Corners. I have been hunting there since lvl 29. If you have a good party, an enchanter, a cleric, a druid/shaman, 2 tanks and one other you can take all 4 corners as well as the random wandering mob with no problem. The corners are spread out enough that you dont have to worry about them helping each other. Also, and this is crucial for SK's, Crusaders spawn at the base, on the stairs, and at the top of 4 Corners. Their spawn rate is weird. I have gone hours without seeing one or seeing 3 of them in about 1 1/2 hours (happened last night. got 3 decayed pieces). If your group is feeling brave (and is 30+) you can head to the top of the temple and fight the Tae Wae Archon that spawns there. The only hard part is getting there. You have to go through the maze. But with invis its usually no problem. Once you get there take one corner at a time. With a good group you can have an almost constant pull rate.

I havent tried the crocs yet. Still need more decayed pieces.

BTW I am a lvl 30 DE SK.
RE: Best spot in CT
# Aug 23 2000 at 9:42 AM Rating: Default
I tend to prefer the lower archon if you hunt it right you can go all night and avoid any trains on the back wall from 30 -36 or so
