Do you have the invitation? If not then the statue does not work and you will need to use the Hive entrance first, which is the last hive on the left up on the living bridges, top floor of the hive.

Good luck with that!

He must be bored with the PoK library. Seems he's on sabbatical in Dreadspire Keep.

[Fri May 22 02:58:22 2015] Grand Librarian Maelin says 'No, I asked you first.'

I fed him a number of answers, couldn't get him to respond to anything else.

edit: Figured it out ~
There are copies of Maelin in Dreadspire, in Thule Library, and in Erudin Burning. These NPCs function as translocators back to Plane of Knowledge for Jimothy's anniversary task Magically Delicious. If you do NOT have the task active, Maelin responds with the above what are YOU doing here text.

There are a few charmable mobs here, try the names in the bedrooms. Hidagard was the best pet thus far.

LIkes: Except for a few undead the zone is pretty much safe to walk around in. No matter how many you kill you will still be looked at good! Shard of Power drops a lot. The door man greets you as an honored guest in the dinner room. can drop below and kill some spiders in the trap floor in the dinner room. Its okay exp for 65 to 75

Dis-Likes: In the norther part it is really hard to single pull, huge radius! Not for the solo type. Levi does not work. Hard to get to this zone. If you attack a quest npc he/she will boot you to stone root and you have to fight your way to get back. Nothing in drops anything really very good that is easy to camp.

I havent been to to this zone yet,...

Where would be a good place in this zone for a Mage to Solo at and do you have any tips and suggestions on how to get there?

Your Help Would Be Very Much Appreciated, I'm getting pretty tired of Valdeholm being in the high lvl 70's and looking for someplace new.

Thank You.

How to get to Dreadspire Keep
# Mar 25 2009 at 4:34 AM Rating: Decent
I would like to go into a little more detail than the previous posters, for those like myself who have had trouble with them.

OVERVIEW - The Hive consists mainly of three parts. The cave connected to Stoneroot can be called the Obelisk room, there are two tall towers (obelisks) and a wide open space where Drachnids roam freely. The underground contains several chambers and connecting tunnels, it can be reached primarily through the basement of the West Obelisk, though the East Obelisk also enters it trough the Reanimation Chamber. The exits go to the two southeast hives, one tunnel coming from the mine and the other from what I think is called the Queen's Chamber, but dont quote me on that. The third area are the Hives and with them the Living Bridge, which are both described below. There are some other landmarks that are useful in navigatiion, below I describe them before I get into how to get to Dreadpire.

The East Obelisk - The first tower you come to when entering The Hive via the spiral and bridges in Stoneroot Falls. Its location is roughly -380, 567. Its southwest of the zone-in and the road to its entrance is lit by torches.

The West Obelisk - Directly west of the east obelisk is another just like it. It hs no particular features except that there is no road leading to it with torches, and it is very close to the Northwest corner of the cave wall. Loc -425, 1251.

Mines - Once you reach the second chamber (Queen's Chamber possibly? Its the next one past the Warrens) you will have two paths, the right (south) path leads to this chamber. I have not explored it and it is unimportant to the path, even though you can technically reach one of the hives through it.

Warren of the Conscripts - This is the first chamber you reach, underground, hen travelling toward Dreadspire without levitation. It is northwest of the West Obelisk.

Reanimation Chamber - Between the two towers, underground, reachable via the basement in either tower is this chamber, which I have not explored.

The Living Bridge - A two to three layer bridge connecting the four hive chambers. You will use it to reach DSK.

The Hives - There are four of these, chances are if you have a map, they are red circles in a rough line from southeast to northwest. You are eventually looking for the top floor of the northwest-most hive.

LEVITATION DIRECTIONS - Climb the EAST OBELISK, its sloped, go to the northeast corner of the platform, then look north. You will see the cave wall. Turn east slightly until you see where the cave wall angles to the north and passes out of sight. Angle up so you maintain your height, then run toward the wall. Once you reach it, hug it on your left. If you follow that wall around you will find the living bridge, which you can set down on just north of the southernmost hive. Skip to Lving Bridge directions belove for the rest of the route.

NON-LEVITATION DIRECTIONS - Follow the left wall to avoid mobs an enter the WEST OBELISK. Watching out for see invis mobs, take the stairs down into the basement. Go through the Warrens, then a twisting cave to another chamber, take the northern exit from that chamber, the one that does not lead to the mines, and make your way through the hive you will enter onto the living bridge.

LIVING BRIDGE DIRECTIONS - Once on the living bridge, you will simply make your way northwest to the last hive, the most northern and western of the four. Watch out for see invis mobs. Enter that hive and go up to the top level, there you will see a round wooden door. Click on it to enter Dreadspire Keep. Loc is +300, +1100, +456.

What's good to kill?
# Jan 25 2009 at 9:52 AM Rating: Decent
First, a word of warning. There's about 4 to 6 undead in the first juncture up from the zone in from The Hive. They summon as well. I mistook them for piles of bones that I saw just outside.

So most of the mobs con indifferent to me. I went up to the first building. There are mobs behind the door that were KS to me. We fought the first two with no problem. The room below full of vampires and such resulted in a nasty pull. Unfortunately this was an indoor zone, so that took harmony off the table which meant we were pretty much blocked. The mobs all saw through invisibility and my harmony wouldn't work.

Came across the bat quest, and maybe that's something worth doing. But just wondering if there are some decent camp spots further in. Or do most people just start killing the mobs by the zone in and such.

Zoth please provide a link. I can find nothing on this and confirm both augs being 70 for Vald and 75 for DSK. It does not make sense for the motd/alla's and the aug levels to be wrong btw.

Per the SOE forums, the patch notes were in error: this should be the level 70 HZ, not the level 75. Valdholm is the level 75 HZ.

Check again. DSK is the level 75 and Valdeholm is the level 70. The aug drop from here is level 75 req and has better stats than the level 70 req aug drop in Valdeholm.

How to get into Dread Spire Keep From Hive

Heya,

The post several below is correct. The entrance to DSK is on the top floor of the last hive on the left once you levitate around to the bridges. The easiest way to get there is to invis at the entrance of the Hive. Then, run sort of NW till you get to a flat pyramid looking tower. You can run up the outside of the pyramid. Then, turn around and levitate around the first hive tower until you get on the floating bridges. From there, you just run along to the top most hive. Go inside (turn right) and run up the ramps to the top floor. Once there, there is a little door, across from you. Click and in. No see invis for me along the way.

Good hunting,
Haxorr/Wyndaria. Nameless.

My cleric was flagged for DSK, got her an invitation so she's been there a few times. Was able to get her in a vule eye turn in got her a monacle of blood, now she can't zone into DSK anymore. When ever she clicks on the statue to zone in she gets the whole text about the invitation opening up, but then it kickes her to the zoneline and says she doesn't meet the requirements to enter the zone. Any ideas?

That is the entrance in stoneroot, provided you have the invitation to use it.
Most will have to use the Hive entrance first, which is the last hive on the left up on the living bridges, top floor of the hive.

Zone into hive and climb up cliff to your left as always--Takes a bit. From the highest point, float across toward the living bridge, but don't go on it. Instead go to the pillar/tower on the right (above the entrance to the instanced zone) and climb up as high as you can go. From there you can con the roamers on the highest and last part of the living bridge and time your arrival there accordingly. Now you can float over to the highest and last part of the living bridge. Make your way to the highest entrance to the last hive and run in past a few mobs to zone into DS. EASY! Safo, 75 enchanter, bertox
