Dwarven Runes
# Jun 06 2001 at 12:37 PM Rating: Good
Anyone know where I can find EEs that drop the Dwarven Runes for the Crafted quest? I got the top rune the night before the patch (figures) and now I do not know where I can find the other two.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I want the Cat's Skull Cap. I am a level 19 Enchanter. Can I take the Gelatinous Cube? Can I make it to level four invis? If I start fighting the cube will other creatures come to its assistance? How does the cube fight..mele or casting?

I'm not sure whether or not the gelatinous cube is even there anymore. However, I found 2 Cat's Skull Caps (I know they are Lore so I only picked up one...) in the Evil Eye Room (the one with the water pit) on what use to be Broxx's level. It dropped off of one of the new Pickclaw goblins. I wouldn't go there alone. There are usually several goblins in this room, unless someone has been clearing this level out. Keep in mind that there are several types of spellcasting Pickclaws now.

BTW Killing EEs in EK, the Gorge or RunnyEye now raises faction with RunnyEye Goblins and PickClaw Goblins.

As soon as the 50+ crowd gets the Hell outta there I'll go back myself.

#Anonymous, Posted: May 31 2001 at 11:10 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Well to start of with, the goblin runts on the top lvl are startig out at about lvl 10. There are pickclaws here now as well, and I heard rumour of another dragon somewhere deep, but someone could just be making that up. I heard rumour that another plane could be opening out of runneye, but with no word from Verant on that, I seriously doubt it.

Was wondering about the slime elemental. Could a 22 rogue and bard take him? We have been camping the warlord for sometime. He drops fine steel weapons occasionaly and some bi pieces ( Weve killed him for two levels, 20-22, and gotten 4 bim, visable set of bi armor and the crown) Great exp but I hate just camping a spawn. The elemental seems to rarely drop the beaded necklace that I want for my wizard=)
What do the merchants sell in here?

I found a way to get faction with runneye, Kill the sage apprentices or mayor gubbins wife if you want to say bye to rivervale. Sages are tough even to a level 56 and they hit very hard and stil blue and exp at 56. Mayor gubbins wife gives good hits for faction for runneye for killing her and shes not tough.

You can go threw the back door by going....

East Karana --> Beholder's Maze (Gorge of King Xorbb) --> Runny Eye.

I am lvl 21 and last night found this way threw. Everything was blue to me should be no problem...?

Yes, but that's a LONG run for a Melee class. Hunting in Runnyeye itself WILL fix your faction (eventually), but there is at least one shortcut that will make it (mostly) safe to bind in the "tunnel" from Rivervale to Misty thicket. The key thing is that you need good faction with Guardians of the Vale, who are the warrior guild, AND the various Deputies that are the Guards in Misty and Rivervale. The easiest way to do this (at the cost of worsening your faction with the Freeport Rogue Guild) is to give 1-2 backpacks full of bandages (4x4 per trade) to Joogl Honeybugger in Misty Thicket. He's somewhere in the SE corner of the zone, in one of those domed huts the halflings live in. You may need to get a Wolf Form to let you trade them, because he won't accept them if your faction is worse than Dubious. I, as a monk, was able to Sneak behind him, but be careful, if he turns around, he will aggro on you unless you are much higher in level (as in higher than 25 or so) - he is a weak druid, but don't kill him unless you want to make your job of getting faction even harder.

Once you get to dubious, you can bind in Misty, and be able to bank in town, but beware the Clerics and the Druids. In Misty itself, there's a level 50 Druid called Ella Foodcrafter that patrols from the RV entrance, then south-west, then north-west to the Gate in the Wall, then back to the RV cave -- beware her, she will kill you quick. There's also (recently) a new 55+ rogue, dressed like one of the Deputies, called Bidils the Quickhand who doesnt seem to be on any of the usual factions, and is Threateningly to me.

Even so, a couple of evenings killing in Runnyeye will fix the faction in Misty quite well enough to let you use Rivervale as a base - with care.

One of the real surprises that EQ has given me was when I found out that there is a functioning BANK located in Runnyeye! Yes...you can slaughter the hapless gobbies and then run your loot down the halls to a goblin banker and put your cash/items in the vault. There are also merchants, but they would not deal with my Paladin, so I can't say what they might've had for sale. An interesting idea might be to see how you'd raise faction with these goblins so you could pass unhindered, banking and selling/buying as you needed to. maybe this was an aborted atempt at giving Evil Races a place to bank without the long run back home.

NOTE: I'd not suggest doing this until level 30 plus, as the bank is located on the lower floor of the Citadel and the path to it runs right thru the Throne Room where the King and Borxx spawn. At level 31, my paladin didn't aggro anything excpet Borxx and (rarely) the King. I did feel a bit strange using a goblin banker, but it sure beat the run to Rivervale when loaded down by all that BI armor.

I went down there this evening wit hmy 51 ogre SK ...just goofing around, and to up my storm reapers faction. I found that the goblin banker is now a scowling red con, not sure what level, yet he would let me bank, and would not attack.

Curious, I went over to Erudin, where I am also kos, (but not to the Erudin guards) and the banker there was also red conned and scowling. Same deal - he would let me bank, and would not attack.

I noticed that I could not cast on either banker. I have noticed that there are a large number of npc's in the game now that cannot be attacked - apparently, these "invulnerable" npc's cannot also *initiate* an attack either, which explains why these bankers will allow ANYONE, regardless of how trashed their faction is, to bank.

I would not be surprised if SOE corrects this someday.

I agree.. im a iksar so when I need to bank I rarely go to Cabilis. Instead I run to RunneyEye and do it. Lvl 30 is a must, otherwise the Banker and Guards will agro on you. Iv bought and sold from and to the Merchants too, by useing my sneak skill.

Great Zone for me
# Aug 23 2000 at 3:12 PM Rating: Good
Runny has been a great zone for me, currently 26 lvl paly. I've been hunting runny for about 4 lvls and plan to get a couple more. Most of my time hunting in Runny has been solo too. Yes you need to avoid Borxx( 35 lvl eye) and other evil eyes(25-30 lvl) they hit extremely hard and with out a good group you have no chance. I usually pull one or 2 Dazed Goblins to the gorge zone from the hallway/room outside of the room where the Goblin Knight spawns. To get there go right from the entrance to the Gorge down the ramp, right at the bottom(can go right left or straight thru a door, the Warlord room is down to the left). Be aware that there are 2 hidden rooms here and the Evil Eyes spawn down the hallway to the right of the room with the pool. This is hard to explain with out a map. If you are hunting solo and try to pull a Goblin from the Knight room you will pull 4-6 additional Goblins from the hidden rooms and hallways. The loot from Dazed Goblins isn't making me rich, but occasionally when there are more than 2 people in the zone I can group and kill Goblin Elites for the Blackened Iron. Runny Eye is a great zone unless you have to group, on Brell most nights I'm alone with a 40-50 lvl person farming BI. It's important to play smart and listen for Borxx or the other Eyes to cast, most often you can hear them before they are on top of you.

To get to Gorge from Misty, you just hug the right wall all the way, dont stop for anything. Even with level 12+ goblins here my level 5 halfling made it with SoW, just had 3 gobbos in tow when i got to the zoneline.
To get to Misty from Gorge, same as above but left wall instead of right. Same problem with monsters but same solution.
Invis works here, and the trip is so short you can settle for a camo outside, no chance of it wearing off mid-trip.
If you are going to run it without invis, be nice enough to shout so when you zone in so people at the opposite zone line can be ready.

Its worth noting that you need to make a right at the pikes with heads on them to get to the Gorge.

A nice suprise I found out (my firt time there was today) was that its an outside zone - all outdoor spells work there. The biggest problem I had there was that everything runs and grabs reinforcements. Sometimes they come on their own. I had a muddite elder (conning red)rooted and me and fellow druid were doing a fair job of killing it when another of its kind came up and whomped on us. Throw in some trains of goblins and its a very challenging place.

Any tips on strategy for the gorge would be great.

You might have better luck finding strategies regarding Beholder on the Beholder boards, instead of the Runnyeye ones.
Farmer's Market
# Aug 22 2000 at 10:47 PM Rating: Default
Well, my guild tried this one out one day...A unmitigated disaster. A full group of 16-19 and another group of high 20's. The high twenties got waxed several times in the entrance area of the 2nd level, so could not help the lower level group break the spawns in the easier, top levels. In all a full group of 16-19 can maybe control the goblin spawns, but the evil eyes ruin everyone's day. By the time you're high enough to handle the EEs, the rest of the gobs won't give xp. A pretty cruddy dungeon design, and only really worth the trouble if you wanna farm BI items. But that's what the dungeons designed for, farmers. It simply is too untenable to deal with the dungeon at the level the goblins are at because of the EEs, and the EEs are just too scarce to be worth the trouble to a higher level person to try to get xp from. Ah, oh well.

The nearest group teleport locations for Runnyeye are Misty Thicket which is 1 zone away and a level 39 druid port, East Karana which is 2 zones away and a level 44(?) druid evac, and North Karana which is 3 zones away and a level 19/20 druid/wizard port. Also there is Rivervale which is 2 zones away if you have access to the firepot room.
Firepot Room???

Firepot room?? What is that? I grew up in RV with two characters and have never come across that one before.

Anyone got anymore info. on this?

Combine Teleportation Towers with underwater tunnel to Teleportation Firepots.
Location: Found in Timorous Deep at N12260 P4360
They take you to 13 different cities in Norrath.
Starting at the logfire and working CLOCKWISE:
Grobb
Oggok
Erudin
Neriak
Greater Faydark/Kelethin
Felwithe
Halas
Freeport
Cabilis West
Kaladim
Akanon
Rivervale

I have used these over and over with my Enchantress with no problems and have guided lvl's 16 and above without any incident. There is a dragon you need to worry about but he rarely shows.
From the TD docks I levitate over the water or swim to the location above...keeping Raptor Islands on my right as I pass them.
You will see the Spires sticking up out of the water, dive down and you will find a hole in the middle of the spires(not that deep) and then you will drop into the firepot room.
I love the firepot room! By the way, if you want to port to one of the evil cities and are killed on sight...it takes you to a safe spot within each zone so if you can invis or have a invis potion you are set and can wonder out past the guards if need be.

RE: Firepot Room???

The Firepot Room is in Timorus Deep. It is a room beneith the Ocean that may or maynot be protected by a Sea Dragon. Once you get into the Firepot room there is a bunch of "Firepots" which if you click on them will teleport you to Cities all over Norath and Kunark. That is why Timorus is no longer a Bindable zone. If it was every caster would be bound in the Firepots and be able to teleport anywhere.
#Anonymous, Posted: Aug 25 2000 at 4:31 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Uhhh what lol. there are only 2 places where the eyes spawn and there in 2 secluded rooms. a full group for 20-24's can take the BBk room + other and 2 or 3 20's cans ecure the warlord room. Borxx is the only problem because I am a 35 enchanter and he still beats the crap out of me with his 50dmg hits and ignite spells :( The king room is actually the only hard room because it is 9 elites and the king which is hard for me to mezz in the small room w/o being mezzed myself =( Its a great dungeon tho
