The evil-aligned Bloodsabers guild makes its home in the catacombs of Qeynos, quite the unwelcoming place for those who come from the city's top side.

The rest of this aqueduct system - half dry, half water submerged - is littered with a variety of creatures from zombies, rats, snakes, and alligators to fish, sharks, and piranhas. Also found here is a band of smugglers, but they stick to the east-northeastern tunnels.

Do most of the undead nasties down there belong to the bloodsaber faction? If so how long would it take me to get to anxcious or dubious from KOS doing the rat king quest?
Updated?

Things have definitely changed since I was here last. I don't think I would ever risk going down there anymore. Have Verant made it a 50+ zone now, to go along with the experience increase they added? Or maybe they need heavier risk to outweight the experience.

I used to go down there a lot to do the Int+2 earring quest, with Cubert. I went down there so much I had a quick path laid out, that kept me away from the necro's and put me in a fast line to Cubert. I did it the other day, climbed out of the water and bam! Ran straight into a red con Rotting Mummy. That certainly wasn't there before.

Nasty place now. I wouldn't recommend it.

I recently got in trouble for naming my character negrow, I was just there in freeport and then it goes you have been summoned by the gods loading: queynos aquaducts I was there with a dark elf game master who disiplinned me and told me the punishment. The thing about the room is that its a cube with no doors, just an infinitly tall ceiling. I bet that somewhere in there, there is a way to get into the "trouble room"

The thing that i think is a problem is that when they booted my off I was auto camped in the room with no exits, Maybe the only way out is suicide or starving to death?

There is a way in... through a bug. My brother was camping cubert and went linkdead. He logged back in and was in the "trouble room". He petitioned and didn't even have to give his /loc, the gm found him by the room's description. She then asked him where he had been and he told her that he had been by Cubert but wanted to stop by the bank... And she summonned him there!

I am a 20th level High Elf Magician. I don't have any experience with the Qeynos auqaducts, and I was wondering how safe it was to go down and kill Cubert a few times and then leave.
RE: Cubert
# Mar 07 2001 at 7:11 AM Rating: Decent
Cubert is a relatively easy kill as he is only lvl 4 or so. He spawns with gel cubes, blue to my 8 necro but still easy kills, and rats. It is best to get a map of the aqueducts as there is easy access to cubert from near the bank, actually the large pond beside the dude that gives over the earings. The earings are defineitely worth it as the are +3int and can be sold. I got two at lvl8 and sold them before i reached lvl 9 for 80pp in EC. I have since gone back for more.

Wouldn't go down there my friend. My friend and myself were going in there after the exp boost. My friend (19 Bard Sha) went in first and lasted 10 seconds. Our guru, a lv 30ish sha said to stay out of there.

Piece of cake for you to do this if you have a map. (There is a good one at EQAtlas linked from here). Make sure that you have s defnitive way to the exit. It is easy to find using the map and is even easier to zone to if something goes awry. I am level 10 Monk and have been palying in sewers for 7 levels now.

Getting to bank and back - KOS in Qeynos
# Jan 10 2001 at 4:35 PM Rating: Default
I'm KOS in Qeynos, but I need to get to a bank every once in a while. I saw one map that showed an exit to the bank but said it was exit only. Is there any way to do this? And are therebank tellers/guards that will kill me? Thanks!

There is a banker in the Temple of Bertoloxxus. He's in the left hand room off the Shadow Knight and Warrior half of the temple. He looks like a beggar.
I wonder?

Interesting place, I'm a lvl 22 High elf Mage, and I just spent abouts 2hours in the Aqueducts
and was not attacked once. The Necro, his Pet, and the specs. walked right pass me. I wonder if this was a bug or was I just damned lucky after reading these Posts. There were alot of nasty things about, but they sure weren't interested in me.

I'm a Erudite Necromancer, and I need to get into the Qyenos sewers, and through them to Neriak. Are they that dangerous?
RE: Need to get to some place safe for me.
# Jan 10 2001 at 4:34 PM Rating: Default
No they're not. I'm a level 8 Erudite Necromancer and I've been making the trip since level 6. Nothing in there (other than some fish which are no real problem) is aggro.
RE: Need to get to some place safe for me.
# Jan 20 2001 at 7:36 PM Rating: Default
Dread corpses occasionally spawn in the corridors, and are aggro to everyone. Outside of them and the piranha, you should be okay. Even killing the thugs and smugglers doesn't change any faction and make them any more aggro to you.

Who has been ambushed by "A Necromancer" and "A Rotting Sentry"? My char is a wizard following Ro who started in Qeynos. I used to hunt in the aqueducts, but there were still some things dangerous to me. I loved the skellies guarding the evil shrine, since they gave leather armor. About 3 weeks ago I left the Qeynos region with my then-lvl 9 wizard for Freeport to work on trades. I returned to Qeynos yesterday... I went to find my favorite skelly spot... I see "a necromancer pet" walk around the corner. Then "a necromancer" begins to cast a spell. Then in a flurry of vile magic I was blown to smithereens. I went to get my corpse, what was there but a rotting sentry. It kills me in one hit. Next time I go down I get ripped up by a "sepsis rat" (damned tough mouse!). Are these things new or was I just lucky enough never to meet them before?

They're brand-spanking new, my friend. Let me tell you a story...

Our hero is (was) a 17th-level shaman named Claddagh. Claddagh had tried to live a good and decent life, but, strangely, he had not yet attained the wisdom so taken for granted by some of his peers. So, hearing rumors of a fabled item known only as the "Paw of Opolla", he set about to find the relic. He learned from a gnoll in Western Karana that the paw container could be had from the last living descendant of the Molitor line, who had been reduced to carving out a meagre existence in the Qeynos Aqueducts. On that information, Claddagh sought him out.

Now, Claddagh had it on good information (ok, Claddagh's other character) that the Aqueducts were a veritable cakewalk for a 17th-level, and were ostensibly designed as an additional newbie zone for the adventurous residents of Qeynos. So emboldened, he entered the tunnels and began his search for Vin Molitor. Imagine his surprise when he gets blasted by a powerful Fear spell and "a necromancer pet" began hitting him in the mid-70's. Now, Claddagh knows that he's nowhere near the Temple of Bertoxxolous, and yet, he's getting whaled on by "a necromancer." Elapsed time to death #1, approximately four seconds, accelerated by several 300-point nukes.

Needless to say, the necro then camped on top of Claddagh's corpse, forcing several more deaths (seven total) before some kind soul finally took pity on him and dragged his corpse to him.

The necro usually sits near the mercenaries in the aqueducts. I'm pretty sure he's a new quest NPC for other necros. He's ultra-powerful, as evidenced by an anecdote from a pair of 50+ guys who also got flash-fried by this guy. Didn't take terribly long there, either. My best advice--unless you ARE a necro, STAY OUT OF THE AQUEDUCTS COMPLETELY.

If you *must* enter (shamen on the Paw quest), the most efficacious way to reach Molitor is to enter the tunnels through the entrance in the lake outside Crow's Bar in North Qeynos. He normally wanders around right across the way from Bait Masterson. Finish yer business with Molitor, and get the hell outta Dodge. :)

I followed a lvl 8 druid down into the ducts as a lvl 6 paladin. As soon as i got there the druid left me on my own. Needless to say i was lost with no where to go. Fortunately nobody attacked me except for a beggar who was upset that i attacked his rat. I actually fell on the rat walking off an edge. I took out the beggar and the three rats and got a "head" for my troubles. I quickly shouted (pleaded) for an escort out. My advice is to make sure you have someone with you and a map. It is filled with turns and dead ends everywhere down there also make sure you can swim since you have to swim to get there first timers may need to hold their breath for extended amount of time while you get you bearings straight.

OMG! they must have fixed that quest...I cannot count the number of times I have killed that begger (aka the rat king) in order to finish the quest. Take the head to the priests of thunder (karana) and talk to Wolten Grate. One of the three quests talks about finding the rat king...Im curious what the final reward of the quest was.
Fearsome Critters

Sadly This place, where I spent a large degree of my lower levels, is infested with high level baddies. I nearly had a run in with a spectre near the mercenary spawn point the other day, but i gated just in time. I think the specs and other new high level baddies are attached to the necro guild faction, so evil people aren't bothered by them. I'm not sure, so be careful down there, even if you are evil.

Storing food in the bank
# Jan 20 2001 at 7:45 PM Rating: Default
I recommend buying plenty of food in your home if you're Dark Elf or Erudite before you leave, stash it in the bank, then you can "withdraw" it from the banker in the Temple of Bertoluxxus when you need to.

If you kill enough gnolls, the guards will change faction to "dubiously", good enough to let you go in the North gate and buy food and water.

I hunted down here with my HE ranger with no probs, but i was down there the other day with my 21 barb shaman just wandering about when i turned a corner and there was some guy sat there with his pet spectre, needless to say i died very quickly,2 punches for 350+ dmg and bye bye Kude!
i since found out that the guy was a lvl 60 necro, so just be a bit careful down there...

btw i think the corridor leading to him had red walls, so avoid them hehe :)

I have found that Agnostics and other evil aligned PCs can get through the Necro area with no problem. If you are a good aligned PC then find the entrance to the sewers that is closest to where you want to hunt.

If you don't know where the necro area starts then I suggest that you start a Level 1 Agnostic character and take a look around down there first.

I made a newbie SK down there today just to see the shrine. All I have to say is this: Beware to any good alinged character who enters the sewers. In my youth, I used to wander around the sewers quite freely, I even killed the skeletons that guard the shirne's entrance. Now, necromancers wander in and around the secret red hallways, as well as spectres. Who have also taken over the position of guarding the entrance. This place is very dangerous now folks.

You entered the Necromancer guild that lies in the catacombs. Don't go past the skeletons, and you should be fine. If you do wander in there, most characters are KOS, and they will kill you quickly.

If you do die, get a necro to drag your corpse out past the skeletons.

Lvls 8-12
# Aug 23 2000 at 1:53 PM Rating: Decent
This is for people lvl 8-12 (NOT solo, unless you are a caster with a pet)

Go to North Qeynos and go to the gates.
Head along the east wall until you find a wall with vines on it.
Go through the wall and into the aqueducts.
I've forgotten where to go from there, but if you wander around (I don't think there are many things that will aggro onto you) until you find a spot where smugglers spawn. Usually in a room 2 smugglers will spawn, and they'll gang up if the spawn isn't broken. A group of 2 or 3 (preferabbly a caster with a pet, a tank, and a healer) should be able to break the spawn where they can get enough rest in between battles.

This should get you some decent exp from lvls 8-12
Armor for lvls 6-10
# Aug 23 2000 at 1:48 PM Rating: Good
This is a not too bad way to get yourself some netted armor and some exp as well.

Go down the aqueducts near the bank.

Find the Cuburt spawn, and go into the water near it. You should find 3 frogloks (if someone isn't there already killed them.)

They will gang up on you, so I suggest you get a partner or two until lvl 8 or 9. Then you could probably solo if you've gotten some more netted armor.
Hunting Spot from 16-20

This zone is fairly underutilized at the heaviest of times. An Excellent place to level here is the Shark Tank. There are 2 blue sharks in the tank just waiting to be slaughtered. This is best for a melee class, as you have to actually be in the water for spells to effect the sharks.

For a melee class that can heal such as Rangers and Monks the two spawns can be split so as to be close to being full health to take on each shark.

They can be split by attacking the shark on the right side first and staying as close to the wall where you enteredt the water as possible. A pathing error prevents the other shark from getting to you, but be warned, this might (probably does) constitute an exploit.

OMG... Just went down here with a new character, and by gosh they have severly re-vamped the whole zone. We have wandering spectre and necromancers down here now. Died at least 10 times, most on corpse recovery of the first attempt. luckily these wanders don't seem to be prone to the wandering around in the water like everything else. They are concentrated where the secret passage to the necro guilds is.

Well it seems this isn't true anymore! There are two spawns next to the tank, one can be a 28lvl rogue who is KOS to most. Be vary careful, he killed my entire group who came to hunt sharks.
RE: Hunting Spot from 16-20
# Aug 22 2000 at 6:20 PM Rating: Decent
I soloed the shark tank from 16-20 as a half-elf druid. The best way (as a druid) to exploit this WONDERFUL spot is to turn the sharks against each other. Befriend the stronger of the two and let him tear into the other. Once your spell breaks or it seems like a good time just jump on in and finish them of. This makes for fast exp and very little med time. When i was down in the sewers there was very rarely anyone else there. I would leave that spawn and hit the smuggler rooms if sharks were taking to long to spawn. One of the most under utilized zones in the game.
RE: Hunting Spot from 16-20
# Aug 24 2000 at 1:34 PM Rating: Decent
Another tip...
as you are facing the tank...kill the shark on your right first.

The other one due to a pathing error wont reach ya.
