Gateway to the deeper planes of existence, the Plane of Knowledge stands as the peaceful repository of knowledge from all parts of the known realms. The central and primary location in the plane is the sovereign city-state of New Tanaan. At its heart lies the Great Library, which is the storehouse of mortal knowledge. Its origin is a mystery, but it has stood for as long as history has been recorded.

New Tanaan was founded hundreds of years ago by travelers to the Great Library who required housing and amenities during their extended stays at the Library. The town developed, blossoming into a hub of research, a waypoint for breaking long journeys, and a point of departure for extra-planar excursions.

New Tanaan is divided into three districts:

- Selia, the light district
- Tanaan, the neutral district
- Kartis, the dark district

An elected council governs the city-state with all districts represented by one delegate. Civic tasks rarely interrupt this group's intellectual pursuits. However, as no aggression is permitted within New Tanaan's boundaries thanks to a magic that prevents the drawing of weapons or the casting of harmful spells. Though crime is almost non-existent, the citizens maintain a local militia.

Newbies can roam at will
# May 17 2003 at 7:59 AM Rating: Decent
Yes, newbies can roam at will with this expansion to everquest. Tired of looking for spiderlings for your armor quest around Qeynos? Just go to Ak'Anon city limits zone Steamfont and hunt by druid spires or the Windmills. This is one amazing expansion.

POK Book not working
# Mar 28 2003 at 7:05 AM Rating: Decent
Hi

I've got all of the expansions loaded and enabled but I can't use the POK book. I've tried the ones outside Kelethin and Felwithe and nothing works - Left click, right click and double clicking have no effect.

I can see other people using them though so they must be active.

Can any one help?

Thanks

Hello,

You need to register POP. There is a register key on the diamond case that came with the CD. After initially loging into the account there will be a registration option. Click on it and follow the instructions.

Make sure when you log in it really says all expansions enabled. Installing and registering for one account doesn't affect other accounts, you need to make sure it is registered for the account you logged in with.

I just posted links to the maps I've found on the web, on Plane of Tranquility strategy page (not sure if link below will work for long, but you can find it...)

If you purchaed PoP, then it came with a manual that tells you what you want to know. Find one of the books on a pedistal scattered throughout Norrath and Luclin, click on it, and there you are in PoK. The PoP book has a map of PoK in the back, which shows you where all the teleporters go, including the one for the Plane of Tranquility.

The Plane of Tranquility has portals to all the Planes of Power, though you will have to accomplish certain things to enter most of them. Planes of Disease, Justice, Innvation, and Nightmare are open to anyone over lvl 46.

Can't teleport to PoK
# Dec 06 2002 at 1:02 AM Rating: Decent
I am a human druid and have no probs porting to PoK. My brother is a human paladin, and cannot seem to port to PoK. He is in Freeport, and we are trying to use the book in the tunnel. Works great for me, but when the paladin character tries it, either nothing happens, or he gets ported outside the Freeport gates.

What's up? Is he not allowed to PoK? Is there something wrong? Does he need to do something first?

Flag check
# Nov 06 2002 at 4:22 AM Rating: Decent
I have heard rumors that there is a place in Planes of Knowledge, somewhere in the library, to check which flags a character currently has. Any truth to this? If so, does anyone know where it is?

Thanks.
RE: Flag check
# Nov 11 2002 at 8:12 AM Rating: Decent
Yes it is true, although she is not in the library. The person you are looking for is Seer Mal Nae`Shi, her /loc is -41.81, -231.02, -156.87.

Say to her, "Guide my Meditation" and it will show you which flags you have and a little hint of what you need to do. Hope this helps.

RE: Flag check
# Nov 06 2002 at 11:58 AM Rating: Excellent
Taken from the official EQ site:
Quote:
Note about character 'flags' and other Planes of Power things
This is going to be hard to explain without spoiling anything, but I'll see what I can do.

There are several places in the Planes of Power where you will need a raid' force to complete a task. In those cases it is important to actually use the Raids feature. The flag' that is given to characters for completing these kinds of tasks is only given to members of the raid.

As for those flags, you will be told when you have accomplished a task. But if you forget exactly what you've done there is a sage in the Plane of Knowledge that can divine your past and will tell you what important events you've accomplished, even if you can't remember them. Maybe getting hit on the head less often would help your memory... :)

Lastly, there are a few areas in the planes where a character can find themselves alone and unable to proceed. A byproduct of group-specific encounters is that it is possible for a character to miss the end of the encounter (going link-dead, for example) and be left behind when his companions complete the task and are moved out of the encounter area. If the character is incapable of some form of teleportation he might be stuck. There are several items that non-gating characters can obtain before entering these areas, and doing so might be a good idea.

Alan

So yes, it's true, but it doesn't say who this NPC is.

Planar Armor

I keep hearing about how you can turn in armor from Hate and Fear and such for exp and plat. Is there anything to this rumor or is it just a rumor?
RE: Planar Armor
# Nov 05 2002 at 10:25 AM Rating: Excellent
It is true, you can turn in your old armor from PoH, PoF, PoG, to any class trainer. You do not need to be that class, but the trainer must be of that class. So a Warrior can turn in Etheral Mist (cleric armor) to the cleric trainer in PoK, or his own Indicolite armor to the warrior trainer.

In return you get xp and sometimes a gem, like Diamond, Blue Diamond etc.

At level 60, and with 100% xp going to AA I got 2 percent xp for each piece I have turned in.

I haven't noticed tha much of a drop in porting for pay on the FV server. There are some places not near a new port loaction, or you would still have to go through high level zones. These new portals mainly take you righ to cities. Not to mention people that have not bought PoP.

Then again, I only ported for pay when someone in the bazaar was looking to pay, I never sat around auction ports for donations. I still made good money though.

He's talking about the port in Cabilis, not the port to Cabilis in PoK.

The "Cabilis" port is actually in Field of Bone, near the city. As you exit Cabilis, stay near the right wall and you'll find it. It's about as far from the gates as the dip where the Scaled Wolf Pups start to appear.

RE: Entracne

Through one of the many stone pedistals with books on them scattered through out Norrath. Probably the most popular one is at the end of the West side dead-end tunnel in the Nexus.

A fairly complete list can be found at EQ Trader's Corner, at the following link:

Hope this helps! If so, rate accordingly ;-)
Fetch Quest
# Oct 22 2002 at 12:29 PM Rating: Good
There is a rather long Fetch quest that starts with Wilimina who needs some sewing needles.
If you follow the chain of people who needs somethind else before they can help you you wind up needing to find a book in the library.
This book spawns on the floor 1 down from the very top. on a bottom shelf to the right of some Paladin looking guy. It respawns at least every 30 minutes currently. Turn this into the guy in the evil sector who wanted it and you can merrily begin retracing your steps.
I recommend a tracker unless you're very good with remember people you saw while just randomly wandering.
the reward is a 1 ac + 2 cha Secondary, range item with a faction modifier ( the modifier is unknown at this time). there are no faction hits or bonuses for the quest and the XP bar hardly moved for a lvl 28 ranger who did this quest along with me.
RE: Fetch Quest
# Oct 28 2002 at 6:59 PM Rating: Good
To clarify, the book you get from this fetch quest will open up other quests in Plane of Knowledge. That is, if you have this book and talk to other NPCs in this plane, some will say, "Hey, I see you got that book!!! Well then, since you have it, let me tell you about a few favors/task/quest you can do!!"

Not those exact words of course, but essentially that is what happens.

And BTW, the spawn time on the book you get from the library appears to be random. I got in like to get the book just as the person at the front of the line got the book to pop. The next person in line got the book after a 5 minute wait (yes, I timed it), and the person after that got the book after a 10 minute wait. So it appears that the respawn on this book is random with a 5 minute minimum wait and a 30 minute maximum wait.
this plane!

this plane is meant for everyone of ALL levels - and it is the ONLY one that is meant for the lower levels!!
