While its long-dry riverbeds indicate it wasn't always the case, the Scarlet Desert is one of the driest areas on Luclin (save for a small oasis in its south).

It is home to a variety of species, from cheetahs and lightcrawlers to sunflowers and undead sun revenants. The Grol Baku, Tro Jeg, and Vas Ren alien tribes are all well-established in this area, as are the Blood Tribe of troglodytes which can be found in large numbers throughout the desert and inside the various caves in the area.

A large plateau dominates the northeastern part of this desert. Be careful you don't step off the ledge and accidentally fall to your death!

good 40 - 50 zone

This zone is laid out in a very interesting way. Their is a gully that extends from the Twilight Sea zone to the zone to the Grey. A few mobs wander in it but can be avoided with caution. Mobs are everywhere so when you pull, be careful or you'll have adds like crazy. There are Sun Revenants that have a "proc" when they hit that's a nasty DoT call "Sun Revenants Curse". I try to avoid those as much as possible.

A good mid-40's group could camp on top of a plateau (forgive my spelling) somewhere to the right of the Twilight Sea zone. It's a little off of the zone wall and you have to climb a mountain basically to get to it. The Sun Revenant Chancellor pops here but has many revenant helpers with him. As a WARNING, don't follow the zone wall after entering the zone. As soon as the zone opens up, there are 2 sun revenants/reavers camped out.

Interestingly, the ordinary mobs here don't have any loot whatsoever but you will find a named mob or two out there. We also collected some Twilight Sea quest pieces here. We've been getting most of the jewels off of the bugs and we got a Mark of Might off of a named Bloodtribe. We also got some other interesting pieces off of "a flaming cheetah" and "a flaura cheetah". What these are for, we have no idea. I'm gonna try to identify them soon.

Most mobs in the zone hit me for a max of 118-135 and there are both Bloodtribe Shamans and, the shaman version of sun people, sun reavers, so have your resists ready.

****ATTENTION DRUIDS AND WIZARDS****
If you wish, you can solo here....but be VERY careful when you do so. I wouldn't recomend trying to quad kite. You don't have enough room.

Quading is easy here. They pally said it best when he said to turn left when you get into the zone (from Twilight Sea) and head down the wall. There is a small inlet just beyond the Vas Ren camp that you can med in safe. If you keep your faction up with the Vas Ren, you can pull to this area along the wall and Quad Kite with ease. I keep animal fear loaded at all times for cheetahs. Problem is the level range for Sunflowers and Lightcrawlers (my primary targets) can be from like 35 to 43. So you will be out of mana with a 1/2 dead mob on your hands. Had to go out and get my ES Vambs. Takes a bit but the EXP is pretty good. About 1 yellow for 1 hour (give or take 15 minutes). Been out here since 44...I'll probably be here to 49 or so. (BTW, I've had regular Lightcrawlers and Sunflowers drop the Meteor Jewel and the Moon Jewel.)

Bah!

Great zone for quad kiting. Did 4 cheetahs with no prob, just have to look where you are going and not have messed up faction with tribes.

It sucks for quad kiting! . It CAN be done .. but i certainly would not do it unless you scope your kite path out just before you start. You can start zig zaging pretty fast to avoid add's .. That is why it is not a good zone for it. .. You want to quad easy, go to EW, CS ... etc .. you want a good chance of nice drops and not bad xp while you quad .. take the risk and do it here.
cool name
