This giant temple is home to some of the mightiest dragons of Velious.

The south (entrance) and west wings are aligned with the Claws of Veeshan and thus safe assuming you are an ally. In the east wing are the testing halls with aggressive dragonkin, while in the north are the Guardians of Veeshan who are not particularly fond of visitors.

Level 46 is required to enter the zone.

I don't care what guild is in the zone, if I want to fight there with my group(s), then I will fight there. I'm not saying that I can fight in this zone, or that server. But I am saying that no Guild on any server owns any zone. Sure they may be a bunch of spoiled wheerchair-bound retarded people who play EverQuest 18 hours a day to get all of their "uber" equipment, but that doesn't mean they should keep me from getting my "uber" equipment.

Any your comment on "if you can't kill every mob in the zone you have no right to be there" is retarded. So since no one can kill the Nexus Scions, then should no one ever enter Greater Faydark, Dreadlands, North Karana or Toxx Forest? No one can kill them, and anyone who has tried became a splatter on the ground.

This post was obviously posted by an Afterlife member, because I, and many others I assume, have no respect for Guilds who demand to be bowed to. :) Wow, you can play a game all day long for a year... wooooo wow, you're cool.
RE: on Mithaniel Marr
# Feb 13 2002 at 12:04 PM Rating: Excellent
Everyone pays their monthly fee to play the game and each customer (that is what we all are after all) should get equal treatment regardless of what player based guild they happen to be in. If they were on a PvP server and could actually do something about it that would be different (not right imo but the rules play out that way). I don't see the logic behind your statements. I can only hope that it is posted in jest.

# Aug 20 2001 at 6:45 AM Rating: Default
Hi,
I understand that you have to be like 58 or higher to go to temple of veeshan, that is quite obvious, but I'd like to know what kinda equipment you'd have to have when you go there. As a level 33 ranger wearing ry'gorr, mithril, crested and some ivy etched armor, including a Dragon Horn Yak and a CSS. I wonder if rangers can actually go to temple of veeshan and make a difference without having all the best armor and weapons. like for example the epics Earthcaller and Swiftwind (orc even better?)

I will highly appreciate all replies, but if you're just gonna tell that Rangers suck and they are bad fighers, and lousy casters, who doesnt fit in a place like that, then just drop dead.

With a ranger backing up the group shooting arrows for hundreds of points of damage, nuking some, and eventually attacking with meele they will make a difference for the party.

Ive read (dunno if its true, though) that rangers does more damage at high levels than Warriors do. i believe this was the ranking: At first place of the damagedealers we have Monks, second up there is Rogues, third rangers and then warriors at fourth place.

However, that was a bit out of the subject. ( just fighthing the cause of rascism against rangers :P ). if you know how to play one, they are great classes, and does well at both soloing and in a group.

Id like to see what ppls opinion on my main subject, temple of veeshan, would be =)

Sincerely,

First of all I don't agree with the 58 or higher assessment.

You need a few tanks at that level, and you need at least one cleric with a rez stick, but other than that we set the limit for our guild raids at 55+ for melee and casters, 54+ for priests. And we've done it with even lower lvls.

True, at that level you're fighting at the zone in and not doing dragons, but there's still a considerable amount of nice loot to be had that way.

Now to answer your question: As a ranger in ToV you should not be tanking mobs, ever. If your warriors aren't holding taunt, then to be blunt, this discussion is moot. You want enough AC/HP gear to take the occasional hit, but other than that you want to focus on resist gear. Almost every mob you face will have an AoE of some sort or another, so the vast majority of damage you will take will be from spells. Get your resists as high as you can and let the warriors stand toe to toe with the mobs.
RE: what do YOU think I should wear?
# Sep 14 2001 at 1:56 PM Rating: Decent
The resist gear that you should concentrate on is Cold and Fire gear, as I believe the vast majority of the zone is cold or fire based gear. Also, I agree with Lemming that 54 is probably a better lower limit than 58.

RE: what do YOU think I should wear?
# Sep 06 2001 at 8:35 AM Rating: Default
Let me clarify that last post. We've done ToV with the main tank at lvl 58 backed up by a lvl 57 and 56 as the next two highest tanks. We also had a pair of 60 rogues and a 60 ranger, along with a strong battery of wizards on that raid.

The point I was trying to make is that even a lvl 53 wizard can land their lures here and I've seen low 50's melee classes do well mixed in with a strong raid force.

#Anonymous, Posted: Sep 16 2001 at 9:16 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I agree with them on resist gear. But I want to post about warrior not being the best damage dealers, thats cause monks who are a great class get speacail attacks, rouges has back stab and there weapon delay is at most 25 by then, rangers get bows that score critical hits, now noone can take a hit like warriors do and they hit very well if they have the right stuff ive seen a 38 halfling war hit for 128points of damage. Now how come noone has mentoined bards? They are a must for a group I think, they can heal and tank at the same time not very well but still if they can't take a hit they can just have regen song on with something else, now my bard isw only lvl 6 so i might be saying that are not true but ive seen them in action with my 38 nec and just what I compute.

Ok Bards = Magor Resistance Buffs on Dragon Raids. There, are you happy :) Bards have a role to play.
RE: what do YOU think I should wear?
# Dec 31 2001 at 2:58 PM Rating: Default
You're leaving out the most important part- Clarity Song. A raid group will always try to have a bard or enchanter in every group, and when buffing for like Nagafen or something, bards help mana regen. Very useful.

#Anonymous, Posted: Jul 22 2001 at 9:06 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I have a question for you people here. I'm level 48, so I haven't been on too many dragon raids, but I do know a few things about levels.
RE: Dragon Levels
# Aug 02 2001 at 5:52 PM Rating: Excellent
If you've noticed for all mobs that con red at 60, they are given a level that is a multiple of 5...aka 65, 70, 75. These are not meant to be the exact level of the mobs, these numbers are used to represent the difficulty of the mobs. Thus mobs given the level 65 designation are easier than level 70, and level 70 are easier than 75...yada yada. Use your head and stop trying to sound big and cool.
Btw the way, don't use the word ignorant when you mean stupid or dumb. Ignorant means you don't have knowledge on the subject, it has no bearing on how intelligent the person may or may not be. Sorry, just one of my pet peeves.
What you need
# Jul 05 2001 at 10:37 PM Rating: Default
My guild did the East Wing last week. It takes about 4-5 groups of 55+ to do this area.

You not only need lvls but you MUST have very good resist gear. Your base cold fire and magic has to be atleast 100 or the AE's will eat you alive(they do about 500 dmg every 10 seconds). Luckily these mobs don't dispell. Atleast none that we killed did.

The spawn time on these mobs is 1 hour and 30 minutes. So if you whipe out then having a rez stick comes in very handy. In fact i wouldn't recomend doing this place without one.

So in order to do ToV you need:

4-5 groups of 55+ preferably 60
Very high resists
Knowledge of how the agro works and any traps
A Rez stick
A necro camped out with about 30 coffins (just in case)

The last thing you want is to get past a few mobs then get whiped out and then have the respawn start happening. Trying to kill these mobs naked is suicide. So bring coffins =)

Also u can easily do HoT with 18 ppl lvl 58 - 60.

whats better armor for warriors? Kael or SS?
RE: whats better?
# Mar 22 2002 at 1:13 PM Rating: Default
I don't have any SS or Kael armor but I would have to say that SS is better. I am not sure which gives more HP though. With the AC cap around 1200 (I believe) I don't know how much a difference 20 or so AC would make overall. For myself at level 57 in nearly complete Thurg armor (missing BP, 1 Bracer and boots) when I am buffed I am over 1200 ac. If I had my choice I would pick the SS armor for the additional resists. Also I would have to look at which set gives more HP because that could also be the defining factor.

# May 01 2002 at 7:45 PM Rating: Decent
AC cap isn't 1200, its just a lot harder because stats and lvl no longer effect your AC as much and you have to rely on heavy AC items, but I can get my AC to about.. 1650+ with farmed Vulak items =x
RE: whats better?
# Jan 19 2002 at 6:58 PM Rating: Default
It really depends on whether you are going to be the main tank for a fight. If you are the main tank, then you are going to take far more damage from the mob's melee attacks than you will from the AoE. Lets take a typical ancient guardian wurm from HoT as an example. His AoEs are going to hit for up to 300 per every few seconds. At the same time, he's going to be quadding you for around 150-300 (depending on AC and Defensive and Lvl) with alarming rapidity. Consequently, AC is very important for the main tank.

However, if you do not usually main tank, then resists are more important. Provided you are doing what you're supposed to be doing in this type of a high end fight with a mob, you will not often be getting hit by it. When you do get hit, you should know enough about agro management to get the mob off of you relatively quickly. But the AoEs will still hit you, so you need to have resists and lvls to protect yourself from them.

If anyone believes that I am mistaken in this, please feel free to share your thoughts.

# Sep 20 2001 at 6:02 PM Rating: Default
ake a look at Furor Planesdefiler's profile on the Fires of Heaven website. He was the main tank and leader of the guild until he quit the game recently. He's basically the most well equipped player in the game. Human warrior, and he wore almost a full set of Kael armor. If he wore Kael armor I'd wager it performs better than the SS armor for a tank.
RE: whats better?
# Aug 07 2001 at 9:37 AM Rating: Default
SS is better because AC only prevents so much damage and you will probably take more damage from the spells a mob casts and SS has more resists

It looks like Ring of Scale affects dragons in Kunark, but not dragons in Velious. Velious ones are on Claws of Veeshan for the most part, or their own unique faction as in Yelinak. My Ring of Scale is shot from doing Faydedar with my raid group, but I'm still ALLY with CoV which encompasses all the dragons in Skyshrine except Yelinak himself, and many of the creatures in Western Wastes and Temple of Veeshan.

Veeshan has yet to make an appearance. According to VI, this is because it is so big, it would fill several zones at once. If you want a graphic reference for size, watch the intro movie. Veeshan strafes the planet. You can see it on both sides as it passes, so it would pretty much stretch from Felwithe to Erudin, or a little beyond. Kill that. ;)

No, Paebala, Chetari, and Zlandicar are factions used in Dragon Necropolis. They don't play any part in Temple of Veeshan. Some mobs in Temple of Veeshan are on Claws of Veeshan (quest givers - south/west wing, central hub), some on Guardians of Veeshan (north wing, KOS to all, no known way of raising this faction), and some are just KOS to all (east wing - the Halls of Testing).

Sometimes you can get lucky and hug the left wall to get passed the dragon who guards the entrance. If you have a Druid or Ranger who is Allied on CoV faction, have them cast harmony on him right before a Kos person needs to run by. Even with harmony, still need to hug the left wall and run fast :)

You get that from the normal variety of drakes - glimmers, glimmering, shimmering green, onyx, azure, throughout the Temple. As far as I know, the drakes aren't in the Halls of Testing (I've never been in there), and are pretty sparse in the north wing. Hunting for them in the west wing appears to be popular.

Real Info for ToV
# Apr 04 2001 at 8:26 AM Rating: Default
I made my journey to ToV with my guild to ToV last friday on March 30th.Getting to ToV was not to hard as we had Call of the Hero set p to summon us all across the zone to a Nerby safe spot close to the entrance to ToV.ToV is guarded by a lvl 70 dragon that from what I know has never been killed.A couple of other guilds have tried to take him down only to fail.He has some where in the range of 200k hp and hits very hard not sure what the max hit was for,but our rogue was dead in one hit.So what we did was have a SK pull the dragon out and FD (barely alive after that)so we could all run past him to zone in to ToV.The Zone is safe as no mobs spawn there. We took a few min once we got in to prepare for the soon to be pulled mobs that we had never fought or seen. Most of the mobs in the zone conned red and yellow to a lvl 60 with the exception of a few even cons to a lvl 60.BE CAREFUL CASTERS!!! Some of these mobs have a AE mana drain DoT leaving you pretty much useless. The mana drain from these DoT's are nasty luckily I was able to resist the first few but I alas like the rest of my fellow caster freinds was left with nearly no mana to heal my group.Once we had gotten a fell for the mobs in the zone in we had a non KoS guild mate look around for us.After a few min we set up CoH to a another spot to pull from called the Testing grounds.OMG the mobs here raped us on the first pull.AE spells out the butt and serious dmg done to my party. My group was dead in a matter of seconds I am not sure how I was able to do it but I kept healing myself after my group was dead and managed to camp out.I do know of a couple of guilds on my server that have gotten pretty far into this place. The armor pieces you need to complete the Kael armor quest drop here in ToV.Good luck getting this armor if you are questing for it.This is all I will post as of now.Look for more info to follow as I learn more.

Spawn rate
# Mar 29 2001 at 5:56 PM Rating: Default
I have seen this more than once on ToV boards and I would like to clear it up right now. If you have ever been even to West Wastes, much less ToV, then you know that the spawn rate on these dragons IS NOT ONCE A WEEK! The dragons repop much more quickly - the same as any regular mob in fact. This is why there are posts on how to break the spawn. If respawns were once a week, then raids to this zone or West Wastes would be quite short because either the supply of dragons would come up short (mind you some West Waste dragons are blue to 54) or the dragons that are left are too difficult. This is true of enc dragons that may decide to charm a few of the tankers and point them back at the casters P So please, pay no heed to these posts from players that may have only fought Nag or Vox, if they had fought any dragons at all.

Spawn time on the north wing dragons is one week. However, you'd be hard pressed to kill all the dragons in a week. There's a lot of them, you need to fight through some incredibly tough guards, and that area is probably the toughest in the game - wipeouts will happen.

The map provided for this zone is first class. Can someone take this map and add the spawn points to it though please.

I have taken a post from another site to add info.

Telkorenar: -1350, -191 (take all lefts after you head W from the central area of the temple)

Gozzrem: -689, -210 (take all rights after you head W from the central area)

Lendiniara the Keeper: -1068, 1134 (head W at every intersection)

Exit: -1188, 1412 (find Lendiniara and the exit is behind her to the West)

You build ClawsofVeeshan faction by killing giants. You can find xp groups hunting giants at almost every level, starting in Iceclad for the lowest levels, to eastern wastes (hit the giant fort here if you have someone with harmony or similar), up to giant elites in great divide for xp up to the low 50s.

Or if you're high level and you want faster faction with no xp, kill Drakkal Dire Wolves in Great Divide.

Either way it'll take around 300 kills to dubious, 700 (total) to apprehensive, 800 (total) to indifferent, 900 (total) to amiable. That's if you haven't screwed up your faction by killing dragon kin already. Save the frost/storm giant toes and giant warrior helmets you collect and turn them in to sentry Kcor or Enots in Skyshrine one at a time for further faction once you get to apprehensive (might also work at dubious, I didn't know about it at the time)

For those who have visited this place I have a few questions I would like to ask :

1 ) Where is the nearest zone other than ToV you can bind in (also tanks)

2 ) When you zone in can you use the same point to zone out? If NO what is the loc of the Zone in from within ToV.

3 ) The Exit was mentioned above is this the only exit? Can anyone confirm its correct?

4 ) The dragons that guard the enterance can they see invis and what spells do they cast? Can they be mezzed.

5 ) Can you evac / teleport / use a potion to get out of this place?

6 ) Is there known suitable pulling places?

7 ) What is the respawn time on the enterance mobs? or any of the others? Does anyone know what spells they cast / how many hp? / resistances?

As you can imagine this information is golden and if shared will help unlock its secrects.

About #4, the Guardian Dragons to ToV, only one you have to worry about is Sont, just hug the wall and he shouldn't aggro, never has on me. One side not, I don't know if it's true or not, but I've heard only works if you run under HIS left wing, which is on your right if you're facing him, I've done this both going in and going out.

The best way to build giant faction is to go on a Kael raid. You can go from KOS to indifferent or better in one raid, especially if you get a faction hit off the Statue.

1) Yes Skyshrine for melees, but casters can bind right there in WW. I'd just be very careful as to where you bind there....

2/3) The exit is around the corner from Lady Nevederia's room. The only other exit is the zone-in to PoM.

7) My experience is only in the HoT ~ 90 minute respawn. Lots of Acid Jet DoTs (not huge, 250 or so damage), and then AoE nukes for up to 300 damage (bring your resist gear, and if you're a caster stay out of the goddamn line of sight except when necessary!).

1) Skyshrine.
2) Zone out is not at the same point. You enter in the south wing. The zone in spot is safe.
3) Never bothered to find the exit im a wiz.
4) Sontalak sees trough invis, only very good guilds can take him down at the moment i think. the way to enter if you are kos to claws of veeshan is to train Sontalak far enough of the entrance with whoever feels able to do the job so a mage can get at the gate to ToV unaggroed, bind there and coh the puller and the rest of the guild at the gate (needless to say the puller should better zone in quick before Sontalak comes back to his spot, the zone in is safe).
5) Yes you can gate out
6) You can begin to clear the first corridor from the zone in room. convenient if you have a CR to do.
7) The mobs at entrance are mainly lvl 61-64 drakes having much more than 32000 hp,they have bad AoE's DOT's and DD's and hit in the 300's. im not sure about the respawn time but it is more than 45 min.

Mob factions

I went to the temple today. The mobs at the entrance are on Claws of Veeshan faction. When you enter the zone you are in a room with 1 door. Go through the door and down the hallway that has the large paintings of dragons on the walls. You will end up in a large room that has a big red crystal in the center. All mobs in this room are on Scars faction as well. From here you can go down stairs, which really leads to nowhere. Or you can go to one of the wings. The west wing leads you to the exit to Western Wastes. In the west wing all of the mobs are on Claws faction.

The north and east wings are on a different faction. I do not know what faction they are on, but they scowled at me, and the mobs in the entrance were amiable to me. The Plane of Mischief lies in the north wing, but I never made it there. The mobs that were KoS to me saw me while invis and promptly dispatched me with harm touch and more. I did not go back after I died. I went in there naked, expecting to die, and I died. But I did gain a bit of knowledge while I was alive. I did go alone, and it was a very exciting experience. I am level 54, and everything I conned in there was red to me. Good luck to all of you =).

Well, I can finally say without a doubt that the north wing of Temple of Veeshan is not on Yelinak or RingofScale faction. I'm not kos to those two, or to ClawsofVeeshan, but I was immediately attacked when I entered the north wing.

I went in naked with sow up. I cast harmshield before entering the door behind Arreken Skyward and ran through a short hallway. There was a door to the right which I passed, and I openned a door to the left farther on. A couple seconds after openning the door I had a pack of elder shard wyverns and elder wyverns on my back. I had some notion of outrunning them with SoW and casting gate or feign death, but even when I wasn't stunned they seemed able to keep up with me. Soon harmshield wore off and I was almost instantly dispelled and killed. A screenshot of the scrollback of my final moments can be seen here: http://www.draconic.com/downloads/EQ/DeathInNorthWing.jpg

So, unless there's another dragon faction nobody knows about, this (and the E testing wing) both look like they require a huge high level raiding party. Although I've seen one person claim that rogue sneak works back there and if you sneak far enough you find the entrance to PoM. No idea if that's really true. There's also some tiny possibility that mobs in north wing actually don't see through invis, because I couldn't have invis and harmshield up at the same time. But that's incredibly unlikely.

Also, when I came back to drag my corpse to the entrance in the tiny hope I might find a cleric to come in and rez, all the dragons that had attacked me had moved back to where they came from. So at least they aren't like some of the western waste dragons that will camp your corpse.

One idea I also had was getting someone to duel you to death and then running into the north wing with the confirmation box "Do you want to have revive cast on you?" up. Then as soon as you see a mob aggro you you click yes and you're out of there before you get killed (maybe). I tried this trick but with player dueled deaths you only have 10 mins for a rez and I couldn't get to the north wing before my corpse was too old to revive.
