Home to the Kromrif and Kromzek of Velious, it is here you will find the leader of the storm giants, King Tormax. You'll have to prove your dedication to the giants of Kael before you'll be allowed to set foot in the city to make use of the city's bankers and vendors.

Beware of what lies beyond the arena. Even the most dedicated followers of the Kromzek cannot enter the temple of Rallos Zek. It is regarded by the giants of Kael as sacred ground and trespassers will be met with much resistance. The Avatar of War itself has been known to appear to those daring enough to explore the temple, and the result is typically disaster...

Quest Armor and gem location
# Apr 24 2001 at 4:40 PM Rating: Default
I have read the others posts and from what I gather the trash area in Icewell Keep is the only area to get the crushed opals, black marbles, crushed flame emeralds, etc. Is there any other place to get them that any knows of and from what MoBs?

Also, theses quests require ancient tarnished armor, or unadorned armor, but they don't give any clues as where I can get them. Does anyone have and idea if I can buy it or where and what MoBs drop it? I just made lvl 50 and I am still wearing bronze boots, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The poor Cleric.

You will have to go into Temple of Veeshan for the Kael Drakkal armor pieces. The gems are dropped there as well. For other information, look here:

Ummmmm... bandages???!
# Apr 24 2001 at 1:51 PM Rating: Default
Where can you buy bandages in Kael Drakkal?

I have good faction with all the Giants (except Derekor, of course), and I cannot seem to find bandages for sale *anywhere* in the city.

Seems kinda strange, since Kael faction is a good choice for melee classes...

Anyone have any specific info on where to buy bandages in or near Kael for those on giant faction?? I would really, really appreciate it. Thanks.
what faction is better?

Is it better to have good faction with dwarves or with giants for a 49 necro ?

I have another question to add: which faction is better for a 35 Ranger? I am tempted to go with Giants for the book of tactics quest, but will that ***** me over when I want to do armor quests? Or is the KD armor best to use because of the high AC, regardless of difficulty to attain?

Invis

I was taking a look around with my SK Ogre... everything was /conning dubious when I dropped invis, but I kept up invis just in case I ran into something mean... Got lost, frustrated trying to find bank and ??? the avenger or somesuch wails on me by a bridge... lucky I had sow, I was able to get some distance and feign (ran the wrong way, though)... he took me down 1700hp's in one round! So now, I realize where I am, and realize I have to cross back over this bridge he's patrolling.

And he kept patrolling back and forth along the bridge... I got it timed, went halfway across bridge and waited at one side (off the bridge) hoping he wouldn't aggro me from that distance when he crossed back over... got lucky and was outside his aggro range... haven't been back in Kael (more than 10 feet, anyways) since :)
what faction?
# Apr 18 2001 at 10:58 PM Rating: Default
i'm a agnostic troll warrior...haven't killed anything in velious yet...and i'm bound right inside thurgadin...to the dwarf guards outside i'm dubious or apprehensive not sure which...
to the giants i've conned i'm threateningly...
so, where should i bind and what faction should i build that will be the biggest advantage to me over the long run?...which of the 3 races offer a troll warrior the best quests o whatever?
thanks for the help!
Giants Bad?

These giants oppose Veeshan. Thats good enough for me to side with them. Besides, they have a ranger such as I among thier number. He is a rather nice fellow that gave me a bow.

Hand of Deaen Greyforge
# Apr 06 2001 at 6:04 PM Rating: Default
I killed this named dorf at one of the dorf camps in EW and he dropped his hand (lore, no drop, no stats) He also had the regular faction hits for killing dorfs.
I hunt the dorfs quite regularily for heads and I never seen this dorf before, and can not find anything posted about him anywhere on the web.
It must be for a giant quest. Any info would be much appreciated.

Talk to Clrakk Blackfist in Iceshard Keep in Kael Drakkal. He request a number of different body parts of Deaen Greyforge. Each body part gets you a different reward.....

Ok, first which mobs drop it.

Second, I believe I know where the "arena" is, but if someone would look at the Questor of Norrath map and tell me it's /loc I would be very grateful.

CR in Kael made easy....
# Mar 26 2001 at 5:52 PM Rating: Decent
To retrieve corpses that lie beyond the giants that can see invis (in the arena area, for example), created an Orge SK worshipping Rallos Zek and run him to KD - and bind him just inside. Just have a druid port him to Iceclad, hit him with buffs and SOW, and run!

After he's bound in KD, he can drag ANY corpse past the see invis giants with no consequence. However, once he gets to the ramp leading down to the main passageway, the giants there will wack him good. But at this point, the corpse has been dragged past the giants that can see invis, so just have someone with invis up drag the corpses safely to the zone from there. Easy enough.

So get that corpse-dragging mule to KD and save yourselves some coffins...

did you read his whole post? and besides, if the Ogres bound inside even inching it along is better than letting it rot or a high level dying trying to get it

# Apr 30 2001 at 1:58 PM Rating: Decent
I used an Ogre warrior.. for this same reason.. 'cept he cant seem to buy or sell to vendors... which is what I REALLY wanted from him.. oh well.. it has helped me imensely with CR's.. I have my own shaman.. so I give him a few sow/invis potions and it's EASY CR's as long as i dont go down too far anywayz :P

Remember it's always better to die 30 times and lose no xp than it is to die once an lose a yellow bubble.. AFTER ALL if your hunting the giants.. you are pretty high level.. and everybody knows how hard it is to get xp at that level.

Raising Faction
# Feb 04 2001 at 8:34 AM Rating: Default
I'm a lvl 52 necro, and I'm interested in working up my giant faction, preferable without nuking my dorf faction, at least not immediately.

I've spent 2 whole nights on Skyshrine raids, killing quite a lot of stuff, but I'm still KOS. I'm pretty much looking for easy stuff to kill that will raise my faction with giants, but doesn't resemble a dwarf. Thanks for any help!

RE: Raising Faction
# Apr 06 2001 at 7:21 PM Rating: Default
I have killed TONS of coldain tracking wolves and coldain wolfmasters and am only dubios to the dwarfs but still threateningly to all the giants so i went and got a dwarf head and turned it into the recruiter and he said he would serve my kind or something so my partner turned in his using sneak and he is now dubious so to "bridge" the gap between threateningly and dubious you need to kill a lot of dwarvs and coldain wolves and turn in a dwarf head or two, or turn in a TON of dwarf heads which will give really good faction with all the giants, even King Tormax. GL to all of you hope this helped
RE: Raising Faction
# Feb 23 2001 at 11:43 AM Rating: Decent
When you first zone in from eastern wastes to Kael, there is a guard there who conned green and indifferent to me at 35. Hail him and he will tell you something about being "friend or foe". Then you reply "I want to be a friend" and he will tell you to go kill coldains and bring back their heads to him and in reward he gives you better faction. If your a 52 necro you should be used to not being liked in too many places. You cant get the giants to like you without the dwarves thinking you betrayed them=) And in Kael there is places to shop and buy food and supplies...if you have good faction with them...so who needs the midgets anyway?
RE: Raising Faction
# Mar 09 2001 at 11:16 PM Rating: Default
In the back of Thurgardin is a mine that has tarry goos, which will drop Coldain heads on occasion. I have heard of these going for high prices and I'm guessing this is why.
RE: Raising Faction
# Mar 11 2001 at 8:55 PM Rating: Default
My Ogre is amiable to the plate wearing giants, and dubious to the rest. *shrugs* lets me bank, get quests, and shop, so I'm happy. The dwarves are apprehensive to me. Killing in skyfire only raises faction with the plate wearing guards, no the chain wearing ones. I'm lucky I started out dubious to those, or I'd have to kill dorfs.

Looks like you're stuck with either buying coldain heads from others for high prices, or just ******** your faction with the dorfs. Good luck. =)
RE: Raising Faction
# Mar 29 2001 at 4:34 PM Rating: Decent
It's not going to do you any good to buy Coldain heads. Handing them in gives a full faction hit.

You can't have good faction in both Kael and Thurgadin.
RE: Raising Faction
# Jun 07 2001 at 2:33 PM Rating: Default
You can have both dwarf and giant faction at the same time and here is how. In the mines of Thurgadin you can collect Coldain heads by hunting the tar goos with no faction hit. You can then turn those heads in to Bvellos at the KD bank which only has a CoV faction hit thereby keeping Coldain faction and increasing all giant faction!

Turn in Coldain heads to Capt Bvellos at the bank in Kael
A side note...
# Feb 01 2001 at 7:11 PM Rating: Default
I have made the trip from EW to WL a few dozen times, and I have personally never been attacked, as long as invis held. Be sure you know the way though, there are several times I've stopped along the way to con some of the giants wandering, and there has always been a few that could see invis. A little something extra that might help if you're in a hurry is to use lev. No more worries about the sudden drops and steps that just stop you.
Hope that helps 8r)

RE: warning
# Dec 19 2000 at 9:01 PM Rating: Default
Aye there are differing classes of giants. Frost and Storm though I forget which is the hihger class. General rule of thumb is as you go up ramp and get closer to the temple they see invis. This includes the guards and senior guards. They also see through hide. Hope this helps.
RE: warning
# Dec 18 2000 at 8:45 PM Rating: Default
Well its real simple, if you cross the bridge into the castle area, they see invis, otherwise they dont. My guild went in last night and knocked them around. We were pulling with a 54 shamen and the puller will take some damage so have a healer ready, but they were pulling singles. Once inside be ready for multiples includeing the oracle. Mez will not work here. Bring a bard to charm and the fight will go real nice. We brought 9 members 51-55 and eventually got ourselves into an evac situation. They hit very hard.

So it's save to pass this area to get to Wakening Lands from Eastern Wastes when You're invisible?
Safe to pass through invis
# Jan 26 2001 at 10:36 PM Rating: Default
Yes, it can be done. I've done it a couple times with a map in hand, following the straightest route from Eastern Wastes to Wakening Lands. This kept me out of the areas mentioned above, where the giants see through invis. If you are following the main tunnel into Kael, you will see the first right turn eventually (loc. approximately -170, +950). Take this right and then a left, heading west and a bit south and then west again (look at a map and you should see what I mean). Hope this helps.
Also!
# Feb 20 2001 at 3:38 PM Rating: Decent
Also! If you're running through the zone and DO take the wrong turn, finding out the hard way (getting wailed on) DO NOT try to run on through them - you're running DEEPER into hell and not out of it. The difference will be a difficult CR rather than an impossible one (basically you'll need a Summon Corpse).
RE: Also!
# Mar 10 2001 at 7:57 PM Rating: Default
yes, too true, unfortunately...wish i had seen this post before, i got attacked by a see invis giant when i took a wrong turn, and with sow on i kept running by, thinking i could outrun him...but i was just running deeper into the arena, where it's basically impossible for me to get my corpse back. so now i have to go about the process of picking up a summon corpse, and unfortunately i dont have money to do it. i was in a rush cause im a ranger of 42 levels and therefore can cast camo outside, but not inside if it runs out. i make it about halfway through before i got confused and nothing looked familiar, and i ran into the see invis people.
RE: Also!
# Mar 13 2001 at 7:09 AM Rating: Decent
I'd pay heavily for a high level necro to summon your corpse. Otherwise, its gone. The giants attack ANYONE who attempts to drag a corpse, even if you are warmly to them. The only exception is when the deceased is not kos to the giants and you are not kos, then you can drag the corpse. Also, watch for ice, you'll slide on it and fall into many pits along the way if your not careful, including the cliff near the entrance
RE: Also!
# Apr 06 2001 at 2:36 AM Rating: Default
Pulling corpses from the arena can be done, any clown can do it if you have faction. Get a few hp buffs, rune V, SoW outside, go up to the corpse and start dragging. You'll aggro the whole place, but you can run to the bank area, drop the corpse there and then zone into WL which is a short distance away. Someone can then pick the corpse from the area since no giants there see invis.
Also, if you are a rogue, with good timing, you can pull corpses without aggroing the giants who see through h/s.
It's been done.
RE: Safe to pass through invis
# Feb 20 2001 at 3:36 PM Rating: Decent
Yeah, what he said. Basically just GET THE MAP before trying. The one, direct route to the other side is free of See Invis giants. Take a wrong turn though - and it's not that hard to do so if you're new to the place - and BAM, you're dead and with a tricky CR ahead of you. As one who has pulled 3 corpses from the feet of See Invis giants (only died once!), I urge everyone to just get a map first.
