Iceclad Ocean is where you'll find the Icy Fingers -- a chain of small iceberg islands, along with a massive ocean which separate the continent of Velious from the other continents of Norrath.

This area is home to a group of Gnome explorers from Ak'Anon; Tserrina's magnificent Tower of Frozen Shadow; a small representation of the Kromrif frost giants of Kael; and the Snowfangs, a clan of gnolls in constant battle with the turtles of the ocean, Lodizal and Coruduth.

Snow cougars
# Dec 14 2000 at 11:09 PM Rating: Decent
As soon as I came to velious, at lvl 35, I went to the gnome camp, close to the docks. From the gnome, I grouped with a bard, my lvl, and pulled cougars, randomly found on the island. These cougars are great exp, I would recommend them for any lvl between grouping them at high 20s, to soloing, or partnering up for them at low-mid 30s. Also on a side note, they drop an earring, rarely, but not too bad, that is worth as much as 3k, probably around 2k. When I started fighting them, after verant nerfed the high drop rate of them to only 1/100, I still got one after less than 10 kills, so goodluck:)
How about the Lizards
# Dec 14 2000 at 11:02 PM Rating: Default
Question of the Day are lizards welcome or atleast Indifferent to the NPCs of Velious. that would include gnomes and dwarfs i would assume. Please tell me cause i want to go but not get my but kicked before i get off the boat.

I am going to be buying the velious update and was wondering where the entrance to the iceclad ocean is found?

From North Ro take raft, then run across to other side of island. From dock there ship takes you to gnome pirate island. Far as i have been for now.
Getting a bind
# Dec 13 2000 at 7:04 PM Rating: Good
Where is the nearest location in Velious that a non-Pure Caster can get a bind? This is so I don't have to keep taking the boat to Velious every time I die...
RE: Getting a bind

you need to cross the dragon bridge to the Eastern Wastlands, cross the Easter wastlands and zone into the Great Divide. In the Great devide zone is the Dwarven city of Thurgadin hidden behind a waterfall. Look at the maps and descriptions in this site for locs and maps. Be sure to have a SOW or invis. there are lots of mean critters in EW unless you are over 50. (some darn good hunting as well! )

Depends on your lvl if you are say around 30 or so and going to be hunting in Iceclad mostly get a bind in FP and take the boat even waiting it is a shorter trip than running all the way from Dorf city. my 2 cp

Druids can TP to Iceclad. Binding in WFP is probably the best plan. Catch a TP from WC ring nad you are back on velious.
Some Level 28 to 40 tips
# Dec 13 2000 at 3:55 PM Rating: Good
Several good places to pull to.

Pulling Cougars: Level 28 (Grouped) to 38 (solo)
1) Right up from the dock by the first tree. There is a single spawn that drops on your head right here and then wanders to your left as you face away from the dock. Once you have this spawn timed you can pull at will from the rest of the island.
2) Between the Dock and the Igloos. No spawns but people tend to run trains through here when they bite off more than they can chew.

Pulling Cougars, Dire Wolves, and Shadow Guardians: Level 30 (grouped) to 40 (Solo)

1) Once you get off the dock, go left along the water until you hit a small ice bridge with 2 gnomes on it. Go across bridge and up the hill. You can pull to the tree right here. Now there is 2 wanderers that will come close to here about once an hour. They are normally Dire Wolves. Watch out for GAROU! He will roast you welldone. Shadow Guardians are all bite and no hps. Drop them Fast! If you get in trouble, zone into the tower. Just Click on the White Shroud-like area on the tower.

Thats it for now.

well I would say also once you hit about 35 you can move depending on class to EW(eastern wastes) and start hunting there the mobs are a bit higher so give a little better xp just a sugestion try it out and see if ya like it but I also know the cogaurs in Iceclad give xp to 42 when I fist came over hunted them for a little while before moving on...

As a lvl 31 druid I have done well solo kiting the snow cougars. But I have to admit that with a partner it is much easier. I haven't gone around the whole zone yet but I feel I should do real good and lvl fast here.

As a 29 Necro, I have been able to solo cougars that conned below me. However, pet is always near death. Make sure feign death is memmed because gnome pirates will not help.

Just beware not to be in Wolf form, and hunt the cougars til 38 or so. Easy to manage. Partnered with a 35 Druid at 37, and we charmed the cougars to fight one another. Very Entertaining. Cougar Claw earings are about 1 in 100 drop, but are worth about 1k. Try CC or EW after, or go into the tower, which can be nasty.
