This is the version of the zone that was revamped during LDoN. The Mines of Nurga are part of the large underground home of the goblins. Long ago the Mines were a vast network of busy tunnels, now all that remains are the ruins of the functioning mine and slaves busy doing the work by hand. It is home to a large and diverse tribe of goblins, the Cleaving Tooth Clan.

Cannot swim up the waterfall anymore
# May 03 2003 at 7:31 PM Rating: Default
Was there today (5/3/03). You can not longer swim up the waterfall to the rear exit. You have to be prepared to circle around. Map, Lev and Invis makes it pretty easy.

I was able to swim up the waterfall with no problem on Sunday. However, my shaman friend was not able to. I am a gnome and he is a barbarian. He shrunk himself and then had no problems swimming up the waterfall.

It seems to be related to size.

Thanks! Didn't think about size! I'm a Wood Elf and can go through the crack in the pond to the Hole, but not up this thing! lol

This place is very safe as far as dungeons go, none of the mobs see invis and none wander. there are plenty of large clear areas to pull to, the only negative things about this place are the casters the lack of worthwhile item drops(besides the shroud of nature) and the one way nature of the entrance.(which isnt a problem for small races or if you can shrink)if you are just looking to exp grind its not a bad spot.

this post is no longer relevant as of july 10 2003

True, none see invis, but there ARE wandering mobs in areas of the dungeon.

The Goblins have taken the caves. Their are no loose burny or spiders. Just...goblins and more goblins. This is of December 15th, 2002, on the Sullon Zek server. Let me know if any different elsewhere.

Same for Ayonae Ro..

Spent all day there on the 24th, saw nothing but Gobs and the slaves..oh and the sleeping ogre.

Was in mines last night with guildies and all we saw was gobs and more gobs, nothing else. A guild memeber said they cleared out the spiders recently and its now gobs only. This was on the Bristlebane server.

Everything but the Gobs and slaves were cleared out in the June 5, 2002 patch. The Sleeping Ogre is still there, too. The slaves were gone for a bit but replaced in August. However, they are not mid-30's anymore. They run around level 47 (odd the slaves are tougher than the goblin masters). Even then, they are undercon's. It took 2 full groups of avg level 49 to take down the slave room spawn (4 slaves and a goblin). Very high resists. It was almost impossible to get any spells to stick on them.

Well, as of today the slaves I saw were all light blue to me at 44, so they certainly can't be 47.
What Level for Groups?
# Nov 18 2002 at 10:39 PM Rating: Default
Hail All.

I'm a 31 Monk and looking to form a group in OT some time to go reap the benefits of this zone. I think it would be easier than new Dalnirs and probably the exp would be similar. Can anyone give me any info regarding this matter please?
RE: What Level for Groups?

You should be ok near the entrance here, if you have crowd control (a good single puller works just as well)just make sure you have at least 4 people, you will need to put out decent Damage to make this zone feasible. You will need plenty of healing too. When you zone in, hang a right, and either shrink, jump up, or levitate up the small waterfall to the right.

Once at the top of the Waterfall, take the left-most entrance. Just barely get on the shore here to buff, as the water will give you problems sometimes with buffing. After you are buffed, have your group back up into the water to give you room to split the first two spawns up. Then the healers will need to step onto the edge of the entrance, out of the water to make sure the heals can hit you ok.

These first two are the only real problem, and only because of the water/casting issues. I would suggest a Warrior that's around 33 or so to come along as well. Many of the Goblins are Necro's and Wizards, putting out a lot of damage. They don't hit all that hard (about the same as mobs at the SF ramp) but some of those spells will get you hurting.

I'd sugggest a 33+ Warrior that's got over 1000 HP and a Cleric or a couple shammy's/druids. Greater Heal Minimum, will be necessary for this zone. I have spent a lot of time in this zone, and the XP's just fine until 42 or so. (Will have to go in deeper to get decent XP past 38 or so)

The area by the Sleeping Ogre's easy to do, with a good single puller, crowd control isn't even necessary there.

I have read elsewhere that at 30 to 35 you can solo in the hallway at the top of the waterfall.

btw I am a troll BL.

are there single mobs in the hallway?

Would the slaves be good exp and would they be do-able for a 56 warrior with cbol and frosty, 43% base haste... and what faction do they have??

I don't think that I could solo the slaves as a level 54 Shadow Knight with 16% Haste.... I don't know if that answers your question or not... I'm not extremely well equipped (Magelo profile here: http://www.magelo.com/eq_view_profile.html?num=189682).

If you want to give them a shot, I don't think I'd go there without a healer backing you up just in case you need the help.

They don't give any faction hits and don't seem to drop any loot except for "A Pick".
Overseer Dlubish is back again
# Sep 11 2002 at 3:06 AM Rating: Default
Drops Dai Zai (?) skull canopic and a common spawn now without a set spawn (any goblin has a chance to spawn as the overseer it seems).

Stonechanters were fixed too, they drop chant rocks again (always, no rare drop).

Slaves
# Aug 26 2002 at 4:25 AM Rating: Default
I went down to nurga to farm faction today and noticed the slaves. Indifferent and blue to 60. I left them alone until I sent my pet on one by mistake. It seems that they are immune to magic and fire and I'm guessing everything else as well. However, they seemed quite easy to kill. My epic pet killed it losing only a bub and a half of health.

If they can be single pulled (I killed the one in the room with the single slave)I bet they would be good exp for a melee/healer duo due to the zones large xp modifier.
RE: Slaves
# Sep 18 2002 at 12:33 PM Rating: Default
They are not immune to fire. You have to be in melee range for it to stick. Scoriae hit for full as long as I was in melee range but was totally resisted as long as I was out of melee range.

I cannot comment on magic immunity as I have not tested it, but I'd hypothesize that it probably falls under the same circumstances as fire based spells.

Confirmed Goblin Warder in Nurga now

I recently saw a post in which someone had said there are now Goblin Warders in Nurga. Wanting to explore this zone for the experience bonus and also to see if this was true, I led a mini-raid here.

I saw Goblin Warders up often on track, and my party managed to kill two of them before having to leave, along with a whole lot of Dirtcallers, Backbiters, Stalagknights, Whipcrackers, Slavedrivers, etc.

While we did see the Warders there, we did not get a Shroud of Nature (yet) from the ones in Nurga.

(edit) Shroud now confirmed drop in Nurga.

Shroud does indeed drop here. My 57 druid was PLing my monk a couple levels, and has so far looted 6 shrouds over a week span.

Something else that I had not noticed before, around 10 or 12 iskar and burnyai slaves on track that were dark blue to my 57 druid. I dont think these mobs were that high in level before the last patch (July 24, 2002)

Yes, the Slaves which were blue to my 40 Shammy and were scowling due to Foresaken faction, I believe, were now indifferent but red con. They were blue to a 54 monk and they hit for ~112 and had a bunch of hp. The monk started a fight with an iksar slave and the 54 monk lost 2 bubs of health before the slave lost a half bub. He was able to FD and get we were safe. They were all indifferent to us.

Be careful with these mobs.

As a necro, I took advantage of fear corner in the mines to fly from 40-47. Now that I'm powerleveling my ranger, I returned here to check things out. The changes I have seen:
1. No more spiders or Burynai. They've all been replaced with various goblins, all level 31-35 (possibly higher; the ranger tracked them all as yellow/low red when he started and just dinged--they're all even-low red now).
2. The layout remains the same except that fear corner has had a wall altered so that it's a big passageway now. The path still ends in the same spot, so now mobs will just run to the middle of the passageway and stand there while you pound on them.
3. The sleeping ogre, who used to lay smack dab in the middle of fear corner, has been moved one large cavern away. His new loc is approx. 0x,-1350y (sorry, not good with the EQ loc system) according to the EQAtlas (www.eqatlas.com) map. He's still lvl 30, still spawns about every 2 hrs., still aggroes everything and gives xp but no loot.
4. The goblins drop various quest items that I'm too lazy to look up like a No-Drop crest that looks like a MM shield, "a rolled up parchment", some type of ore, cash, FS weapons, and booze (w00t!). I'm guessing the warders do in fact drop the Shroud of Nature as I've gotten opals thus far (I've mostly avoided them as they're too tough for my lvl 31 to take down) though no shroud yet.

Otherwise, still looks the same. Nothing that I'm aware of can see invis, still no wanderers throughout at least most of the dungeon, still give the 18% xp bonus, and is now an AWESOME option for some great xp/loot for characters in their 30's (as opposed to those in their low 40's as it was before).

New Look Nurga

I hunted here in Nurga for about five levels between levels 30 and 40, and decided to return for some Chardok faction at level 51. When I entered Nurga I immediately noticed some changes. Gone were the iksars, burynai and spiders, all replaced by nothing but goblins. I also noticed that some of the goblin types were new to Nurga and were more in line with the goblins you'd find in Droga. Droga being a similar zone to Nurga just a bit higher level. As I was building faction, a goblin warder pops. Now I knew from hunting in Droga that this mob dropped the Shroud of Nature, a nice mid level tunic for druids and rangers. I killed it and it dropped an opal. Again from my experiences in Droga, i knew that the opal was the common drop and the shroud was the uncommon drop. I invised and ran through Nurga looking for more warders finding two. I dispatched them and yes, one of them had the shroud. It is remarkably easier to get the shroud in Nurga now as opposed to getting it in Droga where you often times will get gangwhacked by six or more mobs. Here in Nurga you rarely get gangwhacked by more than three mobs at a time. The shroud still goes for about 1.5k, however, with the new inclusion of acrylia armor and the new easy availability of the shroud in Nurga, expect the price on this to drop to around 500pp very soon. Take advantage of this boon now. As for the Choker of Majdd(?) if my suspicions are correct, a soothsayer may pop in Nurga now too, as it does in Droga. Good hunting :)

I also saw a note that was dropped in Lake of Ill Omen that mentioned a recipe for "Opal Slush" which called for a chant one of the chant rocks, green I beleive. You can Identify them and they are different types. No clue what "Opal Slush" is for, but it also requires a cockatrice feather from Overthere.

Overseer Dlubish spawns in the largest room with 3 exits west-east-north at the firecamp spawn. kill everything there and within an hour he should be there. killed him several times this week.
