Karnor's Castle, home to the evil Iksar vampire Venril Sathir and his countless minions, sits modestly in the middle of the Dreadlands. Its heavy mob population and single exit can make for some pretty impressive trains, so keep a lookout while resting near the zone-out.

Was down in VS room tonight and saw this. Normally a Spectral, but not this one. Did not see it listed or totally missed it since it is so freakin' late here and I am tired.

a drolvarg captain spawns in LCY just out from the yawning. He was yellow to my 54 Ranger and dark blue to my 70 Shaman. Coned ally to my shaman as well which I thought was funny. hit for 350 ish on both toons. slow landed fine as did snare. I am thinking he is the new mob for the hot zone thing. First time I killed him he droped:

Axe of Destruction

46 dmg / 42 delay
75 hp, 50 mana/endurance.
required lvl: 45 recommended lvl: 50

I went through the underwater tunnel the day after the 6/13 patch and saw a Skeletal Watchman. Dropped a pair of boots that were Recquired 45 Recommended 50 and there were also talks of a pretty good shield he is supposed to drop.

I spent way to much time in this zone completing my masters cultural armor quest and my ranger epic and swore I would never come back. Now the 14 June 2006 patch has designated it a “hot zone”. Just when I think I’m out they drag me back in.

On the sol ro server it seems that this zone is pretty dead of other PC's. Makes it hard to get VSR for the ranger epic. So for all you high lvl players on sol ro come on by the next time you get bored and just rape this place along with venril sathir. That way I can get a pick up group to get the final piece to my epic from his remains, thanks.

New mob after the October 9, 2003 patch
# Oct 10 2003 at 9:23 AM Rating: Decent
With my 57 Druid I noticed a mob that I had not seen before located on the second drawbridge. It was a skeletal mob called 'drovlarg warloard' (all lower case and no 'a' before it). I pulled it and it had a strange looking club in its hands. It had a 'Dwarven Sap', a club, bad stats but it sold to the merchants for 64 pp. Could not find any in the bazaar so I sold it to a merchant. Anyone else seen this or know what its used for?

A few nerfs after the patch on October 9, 2003
# Oct 10 2003 at 9:18 AM Rating: Decent
With my 57 Druid I noticed two things yesterday afternoon. When pulling drolvargs to the front they used to take the long way, walk to the middle, take a 90 degree turn, head towards the front, take a 90 degree turn at the front and head towards me. NOW, they cut corners and get to you just a little faster.

On the stairs going up in the first tower there is a little opening that you can see through. NOW, when pulling drolvargs from the front balcony if you run fast enough and get far enough ahead of them they will try to go through that opening (of course they can't fit but they still try) and get stuck there until you go up to them.

Yesterday I had the day off from work and decided to ding my Druid to 58 in KC. I was the only one there for a few hours and when I zoned in I was facing the tower and noticed an npc would run, just on the far side behind the 2 npc's guarding the first drawbridge, from left to right. I noticed this a few times later in the day. Sometimes a small drolvarg would run and sometimes a spectral with it's pet would run. This may be a new add after the patch so beware.
Using Improved Superior Camouflage

A 40ish Shaman was in the RCY when he died and when he came back his group had gone and he asked if I would be able to retrieve his corpse for him. I decided to try out this spell and cast it on me (it is self only). I noticed that some mobs in here cannot see thru this but some do. I was able to run back to RCY, target his corpse and retrieve it to the front entrance for him. Use it at your own risk!!

That's cause some are undead, and you'd need ITU instead of ISC.

Some of the live mobs in KC see invis. May be random, but I've even seen drolvargs on the front balcony that saw through Skin of Shadow.

My 55 Druid was too high to join in any of the groups
# Sep 03 2003 at 9:18 AM Rating: Decent
There were 2 groups in here last night - one in LCY and one in RCY. One had a 36 Ranger and one had a 32 Cleric. After lots of tells from both groups for needing clerics for multiple rezzes I decided that soloing was my most enjoyable experience (as it usually is). I had 4 hour KEI and stayed the entire time last night clearing the front and the tower and saw many corpse runs from low and high level people. A well balanced group may have made a difference but if people want to group with a wide range of levels that is their choice.
55 Druid single pulls from the tower
# Sep 02 2003 at 10:19 AM Rating: Decent
With my 55 Druid I can almost clear the front tower. I clear the 2 at the entrance, then the 2 just inside the drawbridge then the roamer. I then make sure that regrowth is refreshed. Go up the stairs, past the platform and to the top. Snare the nearest drolvarg, let it hit you once to do some damage to itself and slowly move down. Keep it close to you or it will pop back to the top. At the platform wait for it and then move halfway down (not all the way down) the stairs so it will follow you. At the bottom wait for it (again) and when it hits you you can exit and it follows you. When heading down the stairs stay to the outside (facing down stay to your left). This keeps the drolvarg on the stairs and it does not pop back up. If you aggro a second just root the second and keep pulling the first. I pull the drolvarg to the front entrance and root it either on the left exit or on the right exit away from others. I have found that getting hit by the drolvarg keeps it close enough to me so I don't get too far ahead of it and have it pop back to the top. So far I have used this to get to the Captain a few times (no uber drops yet) and it's a way for me to get great xp while others are camping the front areas. When soloing, before I have a chance to clear the tower the drolvargs at the entrance start to repop.
How to pull from the water without going in
# Aug 25 2003 at 8:39 AM Rating: Decent
I was with my 55 Druid and I helped out another group by rooting a Spectral for them. I them went to the second draw bridge to pull a sentry and a skeletal guardian attacked me (no skeletal guardian was on land at that time). I pulled it to the front and then dotted it to death. I did the same thing 2 other times yesterday to test it out. I would do a small amount of damage to a Spectral that another was fighting (with their permission of couse), run across the second drawbridge and stay on the outside of the drawbridge and something from the water would aggro onto me and I would pull it to the front. This is not a definitive test but others should try it out to see if they can duplicate this. This may be a way of pulling from the water by aggroing a mob on land (a spectral) and then getting near the water to aggro something in the water. It may be that they pulled a spectral from the water or it may only work by aggroing a spectral or I may be playing way too much and interpreting things that aren't there. Any way good luck to all.

We just started fighting in KC this weekend. I found the easiest way to pull out of the moat is to use a bow. Using this method, my group (49 necro, 48 ranger, 47 warrior) were able to hold the left corner very nicely. Constant pulls of the sentries on the bottom level of front tower and the moat trash. To pull from the moat just target MOB, fire an arrow, and back up a little. MOB will swill to u and then pop up on land. Spells cast on MOB do not appear to stick while MOB is still in the water. Hope this helps.

Seeing Drolvarg's jump from the balcony near the front entra
# Aug 18 2003 at 10:43 AM Rating: Decent
The past few days I have been seeing people target Drolvarg's in the balcony, mainly the Captain, while they stand at the front entrance drawbridge. Sometimes the Drolvarg's will jump down into the water and then attack people that cast on them (nice trick when it works). Has anyone else seen people do this? Sometimes it does not work as anticipated and a lot of Drolvarg's take the stairs down and aggro lots of people near the entrance.
People need to be more prepared to fight here
# Aug 12 2003 at 9:49 AM Rating: Decent
/rant on
There are lots of undercons here (WOW what a surprise!!). Recently I have been seeing lots of people pull multiple mobs to the front and then die very fast. The number of people showing up here thinking they can take a dark blue or yellow is very sad. People should do their research or at least ask others in the zone. I have not played all classes but I do think that 40 or below is a bit too low for this zone and will draw a lot of aggro. I had my Druid here at 51 and I could manage the front entrance. If the front is cleared it does not mean you can go back in and pull something out. Last night and Sunday there were lots of corpses and lots of corpse runs, some in groups and some solo's. It makes it much harder for those that can handle the zone to work around those that cannot.

Hopefully this helps
It's tough to find a group when there are only 2 people here
# Aug 11 2003 at 10:46 AM Rating: Default
I had my 55 Druid here Saturday morning all to myself when a 46 Warrior entered and started shouting looking for group. After the third shout I told him there are only 2 of us here and I am soloing today. He left and came back in a few minutes and started the same thing again. Had a Rogue do the same thing later in the day. It would be helpful if people did a who after they enter to see if anyone is in here and if they would be a good fit in with these people.
