The great war between the Sebilisian Empire and the Ring of Scale marks a high point of focus for the forces of discord. If Norrath's timeline can be corrupted at this point, they could usurp the warlike iksar and integrate them into their world-destroying armies. The iksar would be used as shock-troopers to make first planet fall in the "discord-riders" future campaigns.

With this as the goal, a resourceful discord enchanter has been sent through the rift to beguile the iksar leaders with promises of power and conquest and to ply them with weapons powerful enough to defeat the Ring of Scale's dragons. (For more the storyline behind the Field of Scale, check out this link.)

Mage fight with named mobs

I pull with Malo, send in main pet. Then hit Twincast and use that up. Heal pet and nuke as I can or need to. I keep this up until he hits 20% ( enrage range )then I send in Rumbling Servant and Host of the Elements. I always keep an extra buffed pet suspended. If named enrages and kills pet the Host of Elements usually keeps him occupied until I can unsuspend extra pet and send him in. That usually does it. I'm an 85 Mage with around 2500 AA's. Fluttershade is the exception. I normally have to have another tank with me to win that one since he silences a lot and ruins my program.
Annoying zone
# Dec 14 2009 at 3:38 PM Rating: Default
Other than Slact there really is no one place to spawn a certain named. I have seen this guy http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=31289 spawn way back in the NE corner and seen him spawn way in the SW corner over by Slact.

I think the best you can do is to just pick an area of the zone and keep it cleared best you can and hope something pops.
tumultuous mobs

i zoned into fos and was like what are these tumultuous mobs i keep seeing... dont recognize them! they are undead, see thru invis, banshees were level 85 others were dark blue to 85... easy kills and only dropped trash! iksar mask did NOT have effect on faction. i uploaded pictures. courtesy of 420 crew on zek... knights of shadowhawk!

It wasn't there yesterday. Loc 55, 2077. In Field of Scale, on the west side of zone.

Nameds changed in patch
# Jan 21 2009 at 2:57 AM Rating: Decent
After the patch yesterday, the nameds enrage at low health. We killed Darkcoil, Festersting, Fluttershade and Bonegrinder yesterday, and they all enrage now, noticed it when we started to loose pets at the end of the fight. They never used to enrage, no biggie, but have no clue why they changed it.

Also, the nameds are now immune to changes in their runspeed, didnt use to be, but that was also changed yesterday. In the December patch they changed (nerfed) the droprates of essences. It is very noticeable, we average 1 essence every 7 named kill now, quite pathetic. And the hands/wrists are the most rare now, arms/legs the most common, before the December patch it was the other way around. It is time to change that again, people need wrists/hands.

Fractured drops from B-Lorkis, Fluttershade, B-Gauntas and Slact.

Distorted drops from Naskado, Festersting, Jracsza and an ancient bonegrinder.

Warped drops from Darkcoil, Oracle and Naskado.

I've never seen any crossover here, so if you need a specific type of these drops, you need to kill one of the above-listed names. Drop rates seem to vary between 10% and 70%, depending on the mob. I will leave it to you to figure out which has the highest rates. ;)

Parsed my warrior's log file. This is all based on many fights. Warrior fought from 81-83 with 3500ac and used defensive most of the time.

Named AvgHit MaxHit Special

An ancient bonegrinder 1998 4936 Summons
Battleguard 1755 4502 Summons
Blackblade 1869 4428 Summons, Rampages
Darkcoil 1904 4428 Summons
Festersting 1873 4428 Summons
Fluttershade 1544 3963 Summons, Silences
Jracsza 1738 4428 Summons, Flurries
Naskado 2006 4460 Probably summons
Oracle 1827 4428 Summons, Slows, Malos
Slact 1725 4415 Summons, Dispels slow somehow

Note that my simple analysis didn't get into dps so some of this info is misleading. Slact is a monk and hits very fast, probably explaining why his average hit is lower, but anecdotal experience tells me he's a tougher fight than most of the others.

For you kiters and root-rotters, the only trash I saw summon were a Sebilisian hierophant, a Sebilisian crusader and a Sebilisian lich. Summoning is affected by how well the tank holds aggro and maintains melee range with the mob so don't blame me if something else summons ya!

For comparison, some trash averages:

A Sebilisian messenger 1427 2846
A Sebilisian ironfist 1480 2961
A Sebilisian battlemaster 1488 2961
A Sebilisian haruspex 1570 2961
A Sebilisian bonetrooper 1385 2734
An iksar alchemist 1577 2953

Missing this mob. He's one of the 4 nameds, along with Slact, Blackblade and Naskado, for the CUTTING OF THE ARMS quest given by Gorenaire. Killed him three times and he dropped these:

Once:
https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=79360

and

Twice:
https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=77610

Immune to changes in run speed. I think he's a warrior. Spawns roughly where the map shows. HE'S A WANDERER LIKE SLACT. Has multiple spawn points. Right after I killed him he respawned in a unusual spot, right outside the building with Shade of Tarof. Unusual in the sense that nothing ever "happens" over there and it's never camped.

Relatively easy kill.

Placeholders

FYI nameds seem to have multiple placeholders. I've seen a specific named spawn in different places, sometimes quite far apart. They do seem usually to have placeholder mobs but there isn't necessarily any pattern: I've seen, for example, the named snake spawn from a spawn that is sometimes a trash blackbird PHer. Humanoid model nameds, like the Oracle, have spawned from animal PH spots.

That's good design since a group can set up almost anywhere, clear all the nearby trash and have good expectations of eventually seeing a named pop locally.

Overall, a great zone, well-designed and lots of fun.

He spawns at 10 pm every game night. He is for one of Phara Dar's quests, the stage where talendor asks you to purify an iksar ribcage. Its basically just hand the ribcage to the elemental and get back a purified ribcage. He is located on the little isle just off the coast, eastern side of the zone.

This NPC tends to spawn very 30-40 minutes it seems like and is on track for about 7 minutes. He spawn in the north east corner on the island. He cons indiff even with invis off. Hailed him and nothing happened. Very cool graphics on Sony's part.

Festersting the Diminuitive

Add this guy. Red con, wanders near the port-in. Small but firey scaled wolf.

Max hit on my 24k/3.3ac warrior was 4428. When he killed the warrior max-hit on the paper casters was 4828. Hits fast, like all nameds here. Probably a warrior, I would think level 86 as my toons are 81 and he was red.

Can be snared and rooted. Slowable. Summons. Summoned my butt across the whole zone. LOL. I missed escaping him by zoning out by "that much" <holds two fingers a 1/4-inch apart.>

Not sure about mez. But I shall find out as we will meet again on the field of honor. And THIS time I will be properly prepared!

Killed him later same day. He was in the bottom right corner, near the wall just above the fort. So maybe he can spawn anywhere.

Dropped Monstrous Mace, 2HB, 835/805 80+4dmg.36 delay. WAR PAL RNG SHD MNK BST BER. Not bad even though my warrior rarely uses 2-handers.
