The Orcs of Crushbone are the bane of the Elves of Faydark. Inside this orcish stronghold are numerous camps, an underground slave mine, and a castle which houses the leaders of Crushbone Clan.

I don't know if they will be friendly or not, but from what I've heard from others you should be dubious at worst No KoS for you. However, you probably do NOT want to go there, because all the orcs are on Indigo Brotherhood faction. Fighting in Crushbone is a quick ticket to KoS from your own city guards. Aside from Orcs there are two Mobs, a inkie (same problem) and a rather tough gnome magician who doesn't really have a reward appropriate for the risk.

So the answer is, yes, you should be safe there. And also probably quite bored.

I am a Dark Elf Shadow Knight that fought in CB from 6 to 12 level. When I first arrive the only thing in CB that bothered me were the slaves. I walked around freely, checking out the throne room and various pathways. It wasn't until I came near the Dwarf Slave Rondo that I was killed.

I then began killing orcs on Orc Hill and when I returned to CB I was KOS.

RE: throne room
# Jul 27 2001 at 4:17 AM Rating: Default
Actually, a well balanced group is all that is needed to take the throne room. I was in a group in the Throne Room at level 10 with my alternate cleric and a full group. We had a cleric(me), shaman, wizard, warrior, rogue, and bard, all between 10 and 15. Everyone lived thankfully and we got great exp. Fortunately, there was a higher level necro, I'm guessing 25 or so, in the Tower so we didn't have to worry about any bad aggro from there, so we just came in after it was cleaned out and took single pulls the best we could and rooted the others. Healing, buffing, and medding during down time, the room was a piece of cake. Just be sure that everyone in a full and balanced group knows their roles and how to assist the puller/keep the mobs off the casters via taunt and raw damage. Just my 2cp.

There is no need to wait til lvl 30 to fight in the throne room. With a good group at lvl 14 or so you will be fine, as long as you dont go into the high tower where Crush and D'Vinn wait. I fought there all the time and i still live to tell about it. Still, a healer is always a great help in there too, so i recommend grabbing one if possible.

#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 10 2001 at 2:07 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) it was a rainy day in the year 3252 and i was happilly hacking away at the head of the evil empior crush. I was a wood elf ranger of the 17th circle and was grouped with a high elf cleric of the 16th circle a nasty human ranger of the 18th circle and a barbarian warrior of the 19th circle. As i was saying we were hacking away at the neck of crush when i saw the evil feind fall. the next thing i realized was i had been backstabed by the embassador. i turned aroung asked my group 4 heals adjusted my nose plugs (its hard enough to bear the smell of human but a dark elf?) and immeaditly started to stab hack cast as i listened to the warrior chant "whack smack add loot to the pack" over and ove i heard my cleric friend say " out of mana meddin" and i was about to die. I asked the human to taunt (yes to think there sooo dumb the cant just see a member bleeding real bad and taunt automaticially) so he did and got the punk off my back. i started to heal myself and joined in the battle right after i was healed. the embassidor was almost dead as was our barbian friend and the filithy human (if the embassador didnt kill him i would). then out of no where a royal gaurd hit me HARD from behind. i said that the group camping him should take care of it but they had there hands full with three legos and an emiss. so i turned my back on dvinn (badddd mistake) and took on trhe gaurd. the cleric was back up and healin me thankfully. then i feel a dirk stabb through my dwarven mail into my back drawing blood. the royal gaurd was soon to subbmit so i keept on going and did not turn around. i struck down the gaurd and at the same time we saw three legos on the ground and dvinn with cuts wounds and bruises everwhere. he was not giving up though. he keept on stabbing me and peircing me. we had him and keepet on whackin the barbian chanting "whack smack add loot to the pack" the human putting up a pathetic fight and the other group trying to taunt and assist us. two of there group were mortally wounded as was I i knew. my back was gushing out blood and my mail was shredded. dvinn went into submission and gave up. but for what he and his orcs did to my familly i decided to kill him very cruelly. i took his dirk stabbed him in his ches and ripped out his black evil heart as i watched it beat its last i pocketed the dirk so nobody would know i had it and asked the cleric for a heal and someone for a bind wound. I thank Tunare that i survived because after my fights in Splitpaw i was bound to Rivendale and well that walk was not top on my list. I got up and in the heat while people were still arguing over where the dirk went i camoed myself and removed myself from the group a very lucky thankfully ranger of the 18th circle.

why do they do it? why? what do u get out of lying? for all of u out there who want any real deal on a thread read all of em and take the one that sounds the hardest. if 40 posts say a group of 3 50+ chars took down trak and one guy says it takes 30, believe the one guy. dont ever listen to the majority. ALWAYS believe the post that said it was VERY hard and maybe u might be pleasently suprised, but atleast u wont be overwhelmed. just some pointers on how to wade through all the bs these morons post on these threads.

p.s. notice that any thing posted anon is usually a lie. those with actual 50+ chars usually are here enough to take the time and register.

I'm a lvl 14 mage on Ayonne Ro, and I was at CB the other day. Some one shouted 'train to zone' and everyone stood up and walked out of the way. A little while later, someone shouted 'Dvinn to zone!'. Well, all of the tanks RAN and the three casters at the zone (myself included) just stood up and went invis. I've honestly never seen tanks run that fast without SoWs.

Hey, I have killed way to many orcs in my time. I have been in Crushbone since like level 7. It has taken me about 2 days to get to level 14 and I have killed orcs forever. You can almost always find loot. Cloth armour, cb belts, and rusty weapons for centurions and pawns and some legonaires. Legonaire shoulderpads worth 3pp each. Then in the big leagues the oracles and Lord Darish and Dvinn and crush drop leather armour and weapons like Dragoon Dirk and Dwarven Ringmail tunic. Take my advice and come here if your level 6+. It will make you rich and powerful.

I would recommend you at least get some of your 8th level spells (pets) first before making the jump. If you get in with a nice group I'd say you could handle it though, just make sure you know how to run.
RE: take it
# Dec 02 2000 at 10:47 PM Rating: Default
You could take it only if you stay near entrance and are in a good group. I dont want to scare you, but that place is really thought. Think i went there at lv 12 ranger and went a bit deep; found myself running for life. I would consider to level up before triyng cb. But rember: you have to decide in the end.
RE: take it
# Jan 08 2001 at 10:36 PM Rating: Default
If you're careful, there's no problem with soloing CB after level 6 or so. At level 6, you stay near the entrance, and only cross the bridge towards the beginning of slave mines. At level 8 or 9, you can start going into slave mine area, and take some slavers. At level 12, you can take all slave mines, carefully solo trainer camp, and other slave camp, as well as some of the castle cents and emissaries. At 14, you can do legos although they may hurt. Emissaries can be a pain, as legos tend to group with them.

CB is much easier in a group though, and much less down time.

RE: TRAINS!!!
# Mar 12 2001 at 11:33 AM Rating: Default
Well, unfortunately things happens and trains are part of EQ especially in places like CB where there is only on Zone Exit. First of all, I don’t meditate 100 feet from the Zone in CB (and believe me I have seen people doing that) Second of all, if I have to meditate, I just sit one half a foot from the zone, so if something is happening or get hit I just have to step back one ½ a foot and I am safe. You have to be aware of your surrounding and rumbling about trains will not get you far in this game. You just have to deal with in a civil and educated manner.
RE: TRAINS!!!
# Dec 30 2000 at 9:13 PM Rating: Default
train meens get away from zone. And if your medding and cant move then dont med by zone. simple. there are many other various places that are sorta safe
RE: TRAINS!!!
# Nov 20 2000 at 2:30 PM Rating: Excellent
Unfortunately, trains are a fact of life and death in EverQuest. Learning how to deal with trains is one of the skills you will need to learn to be a successful adventurer.

So, why do people train in the first place?

Lots of reasons. Sometimes their eyes are to big for their swords and they realize too late they can't handle the pull until it is too late. Sometimes accidents happen. Sometimes they are trained by other people. Sometimes a dealable situation goes pear shaped (like the key tank suddenly goes LD and now all your casters are useless because orcs are pummelling them). When a group loses discipline and cohesion, your choices at are pretty much run to zone or die (at high levels more options open up like evac...but that won't happen in CB).

So what can I do to avoid trains?

Firstly, med VERY close to the zone point itself. If there is room, I will zone in, step to the left or right using ctrl-arrows so I'm basically ON the zone point, and med there. That way if I'm trained, the first blow will knock me back a few feet...into the zone point! I'll zone to safety, even if I'm AFK. But DO move off the exact spot you zone into. Otherwise you might cause 'rubber banding' (someone zones in, hits you, steps back, and zones out again).

Secondly, med AWAY from the zone point. Not sure where you would do this in Crushbone, but all zones have 'safe points' where monsters do not spawn and that aren't on heavily trafficed paths. You aren't completely safe from trains, but you may stand a better chance than right at the zone point. When you get to the Esate of Unrest, this is a MUST.

Thirdly, be aware of what is going on around you. Casters especially when you're waiting to cast a spell during a combat. Do you see that group on the other bridge to the castle figthing? Do they look like they have a lot of MOBs on them? Learn their names, and be aware where other people are fighting. If you see Bob leading a group past you, and about 15 min. later you hear Bob /shout "Train to zone!" you can bet said train is gonna pass by you on the way out. :)

Fourthly, if you are in zone and are healing/medding after a big fight, post a guard! Have that not very wounded fighter or fully mana'ed caster up and looking around. If you see people being followed by monsters, good bet is it is a train. Tell your party, get them to move aside or get ready to run yourself.

Lastly, the third question that should be asked, especially to lower level characters who haven't learned the skill yet, what do I do if I have a train on me?

Only one thing here. /shout! Make a hot key if you need to, but please please PLEASE /shout to the zone "TRAIN to [zone point]." In CB "TRAIN TO ZONE" will suffice, as there is only one zone point, but others have multiple. If you have SoW up, add a little information, like DVINN TO ZONE (and watch the people run away) or LEGO/EMI TRAIN TO ZONE.

/shouting trains not only warns people who will get smushed, it can also alert higher levels slumming in the zone to get to the zone point and clear it up. Most higher level players like to help clear up trains (I do it now and then when in zone because I have a score to settle with DVinn ).

So, really griping about trains doesn't help. They aren't going to go away (believe me, I've griped plenty myself about trains. ;) ). Learning how to deal with trains both in avoiding them and when you have them will not only prevent you from dying and losing XP, it will show you to be a courtesy player and believe me, courtesy players are more likely to get into good groups then rude ones.

Hope this helps. :)

I also like to derail trains in CB. After spending 17 lvls in BB, GFay, and CB, I decided to go abroad. By the time I was 23rd level I was feeling homesick and headed home. I decided to visit CB and found quite often I could clear the place, with only the BIG guys going aggro (D'Vinn, Crush, etc....). After an hour my revenge on CB was getting boring so I decided to just hang around the zone so newb types could check out my equipment (come on, we all loved looking at higher level's equipment before we knew what it was, so I was happy to help =) Anyway it is there I discovered something truly satisfying. Derailing trains and backing people up. Just smacking around some of those guys and knocking off a few HP off the MoBs makes a lot of difference to these guys. I don't hit enough to take away their exp or loot. I don't sit there and power lvl the whole area but if it gets thick I help keep things under their control. I don't want thanks, money, or anything and I'm NOT sitting there at the entrance letting lower lvls look at my equip because I'm on a power trip. Maybe the occasional heal for my efforts. I just do it because it's COOL.
RE: TRAINS!!!

Yeah man. Same here. Ever since i hit lvl 22 or so i have been getting more home sick. Almost every time im on, about 1 hour till i need to log(unless im in a good group of course), I head back to kelethin from unrest or soon mistmore, and take care of foodstuffs, selling and bankin. Then I head toward CB. I go for the same reason. To back up the lower char's, and wait for the trains. At 25 my ranger doesnt have much of a problem with everything except dvinn, and occasionally relton if hes a high spawn. I have to say that if dvinn is out, and every body zones, and im full up, you can bet you will see me kiting him around the yard ) I still have lots of payback for him comin. And back to the point at hand. I just think back to when i was a newbie. It would have been cool to be able to fight that little bit longer when your mob is almost dead, than to have to zone and lose the exp. When i get to the zone, I used to shout or ooc that i was in and derailing if necessary. But that has changed. Now i basically go visit the camp sights and people always know im there. Gotta love bein a ranger :)

I agree that its mostly accidents. Just my opinion tho. I somehow had a train latch onto me as the guy who pulled it died!
