The Orcs of Crushbone are the bane of the Elves of Faydark. Inside this orcish stronghold are numerous camps, an underground slave mine, and a castle which houses the leaders of Crushbone Clan.

for the necro's

While I agree Cb normall should't be tried till about 7 or 8, a necro who knows what he's doing can easily hutn here at even level six. Here's what you do: 1.) Book it to the little ledge on your right as you exit the tunnel. Nothing comes up here so you can med and watch as things spawn and wander by. 2.) Pick your target and hit him with your clinging darkness plus your poison bolt. 3.) now that you've got him pissed he'll take off and run to the far end of the ledge and climb up after you. walk off the edge, and presto!, he runs all the way back down to the other end and runs all the way back around the ledge 4.) As long as none otherds are close lay down your disease cloud and just keep jumping onto the ledge and off the ledge till yourt dot's do him in. Even if he manages to grab you once or twice just give him a lifetap between your jumps to and fro the ledge. Doing this right you can safely take out a white cent or two blues without having to worry about a pet or meleeing, plus no fear kiting and having him run off and then come back with friends. Hope any necro's who get this find it works well for them as it did me. Rock on my dark brothers.

@ lvl 5 you should fight the pawns and low -level Centurions outside of Crushbone, then at 7 fight inside, but avoid anything higher then centurions until lvl 10.

Pulling out of castle
# Oct 10 2001 at 12:50 PM Rating: Default
Hi all, a word of caution from the recently deceased. I, a lvl 11 ranger, and my group with a lvl 10 ranger i think or a druid and 3 wizzys were hunting in CB when i high lvl buffed us. All with skin like diamond and sow we were having an easy time at the wall, not to mention the 3 wizzy's nuking. Legos were dropping like flys. Lets pull from inside the castle we decide. I had been in TR before with some higher lvls so i said id do the pull. I got in and got 2 legos and 1 em when i was only going for a lego cuz they were all so close. No prob i thought a quick hop out the window but to my shcagrinn i picked the wrong window. I hopped into the moat. Im newbie and figd the monsters couldnt get me but alas about a min later as im searching for my way out the legos and em are wailing on me in the water. I found a ladder but would get knocked off of it or stunned so i couldnt get up and after many cries for help went unanswered i died. Luckily the same high lvl that buffed us was nice and got my body. I was freaking out for a bit. So anyways the point is becareful when tryin to pull out of the castle its better if you can take group em and hit TR from inside and then camp it inside just beware lots of pissed off orcs (even the greens aggro triggering the whole room to take you). Thanks to all you high lvls out there that help us noobs.

Okay, many of you probably know this or have other ideas. But there are alot of people new to this, so...these are my observations of Castle Crushbone and some suggestions for dispatching its denizens.

There are two major concerns with Castle Crushbone, the Trone Room and the Tower. Anyone who has fought there knows that each of these areas are mutually exclusive, meaning you can fight in one and not pull the other to you mid fight (provided you do not have mobs run away into the other)

Now, the Throne Room. This is a large room, but do not let that deceive you. The orcs in here 1. Have a large agro and social radius and 2. are very aggressive, to the point that even green cons will agro you. Now, this would not be bad, except that once one agro's they will all swarm. One green orc can be easily dispatched. Several greens, though, can kill you. (The throne room was almost completely green to me at 20)

Mobs in the throne room range from centurions to royal guard (whom were sometimes blue at 20) Lord Darish spawns on the Throne (he was green to me each time he spawned). Oracles also spawn here.

Spawns in here are very quick, and the orcs spawn all around the room. The table will seem to be a good place to med, but in truth you are not out of agro or social radius.

Now, the Tower.

The tower is the spawning point of Emperor Crush, D'vin and occasionally the Prophet (Atleast, this is where we fought him, so I think he spawned here, but I was medding when he spawned). Now, Crush was blue to me. The Prophet I think was also blue when he spawned. D'vin was yellow when he spawned each time I saw him either up close or on Track.

Once you have cleared the Tower you can easily camp here. Now, with the cons, at 20+, you might be tempted to solo. However, D'vin is famously under conned, and since he has back stab, if he happens upon you while you are resting, that can hurt. Yes, he has back stab, cause he backstabbed either me or a party member, can't remember which.

Mobs here spawned one at a time. There was a Cent PH who was green to me. Royal Guard, who was usually blue. The Prophet once, who I think was blue. Crush, who was blue, and Dvin who was yellow. All but the Prophet were frequent spawns. Also, Crush seems to drop the tunic 1 in 2 times he spawns. D'vin did not drop the dirk when he spawned for us, but did drop the heart. It is for a quest, but I don't recall what.

Okay, my suggestions based on observation:

The castle can be controlled easily by two groups.

Group 1: Throne Room: Around Lvl 15 is my suggestion, plus or minus, depending on make up and what things are conning. I suggest a full group because the spawns here are frequent and adds are a guarantee. With a well coordinated group, though, it is possible to camp within the throne room, saving the confusion of pulling to outside the castle. Casters can med while non-casters keep agro's off of them until they have enough mana to assist/heal.

Group 2: Tower: Around lvl 20, plus or just minus. I would not camp it before lvl 18, really, because D'vin will be red before that. He is underconned, so an underconn resisting your caster's spells is a very bad thing. At 18, he may con a red that won't resist all spells. At around 20, a balanced group of 3 should be able to handle him. choose a tank with high ac and hits, have a healer for the tank and a nuker/snarer for D'vin. Definately root or snare the mobs up here. Caster can med while the tank watches them. Even if you aren't full mana, the appearing mobs should be easily dispatched since they appear one at a time once the tower is cleared. I would camp it right up in the tower itself for maximum visibility.

Those are my suggestions on owning the castle.

I included nothing about the warlord because he is such a rare spawn, I've not gotten to deal with him. Plus, he is outside the castle when he spawns.

Good hunting.

And I was singing,

"Bye Bye Mr. Dark Elf guy
Camped the Warlord for an hour,
But the spawn there was dry,
And those wood elf slaves
Were drinking brandy and wine
Singing this will be the day d'Vin dies."

Sorry, I couldn't help it.

I really am sorry.

Yes. This zone is really. I usually suggest that people go in around Lvl 7, but at 6, if you can team with a Cleric you should do very well.

Even with a cleric, going in at level 6 is very dangerous, from what i understand, you should enter at level 8 or 9, or else even a cleric might not help.

These are stupid fools. I was stupid enough to find groups for these at level 11, and kept getting 1/10th blue bubbles. Incredibly, I figured "what the hey" and packed 6 10+s into a slaver group, and got a 20th of a blue bubble. Luckily, thanks to plvling and Oasis of Marr, I got to level 15 and now I'm soloing legoes with quad kites. Moral: Don't hunt in cb at 10 or 11.
Hunt legoes in gorups till you hit 14, then you should be able to solo them. If your a druid, Grasping Root them, use Stinging Swarm, Cascade of Hail(Hail, an orc legionnaire Hail, an orc legionnaire Hail, an orc legionnaire Hail, an orc legionnaire.....), Ignite, and repeat as needed, and root when their roots fall off. VERY IMPORTANT: don't get to close that the Cascade of Hail AE or you suffer damage. Try to get breeze or clarity before doiung this.

A couple of questions. The post for DE Clerics answered most of my questions. Thank you.
Other questions
1. Do factions for Indigo Brotherhood line up about the same for Necros as they do for clerics?
2. Will my faction hits in CB in any way affect the necro guild in Freeport (since I can go there to buy my spells for at least long enough to work on getting my IB faction up later)?
3. Being a lvl 2 baby necro, should I be able to survive in CB picking off pawns like the ogre did, if I stay near other groups?
4. A little off topic, am I KoS to the Fairies (not pixies) that roam Gfay?

Thanks,

Aliyanna sometimes, but mostly

To answer your questions:
1. i would say yes
2. No, i doesn't affect the Necro Guild in FP
3. At lvl 2 it is difficult to survive in CB, if you will aggro Centurions you have to run. But even if you are carefully, those trains of Orcs at the zone would kill you, too.
4. Yes, even a Agnostic DE is KoS. Fairies are Dubious to a Agnostic DE...

I saw this, and thought about all those nasty trains. When you get killed by D'vin in CB or various undead in Unrest, just think of this and smile.

at level 8 to 9 or so i went into CB, I got a group and started kiling slavers, it was very good EXP. at level 10 to 12 i went from killing legos and trainer, but at 11 I had a hard time so i killed cents and turned in thier belts. at 13 I suggest either (I did this) get a group outside castle or solo legos. now im 14 and I solo legos mainly and once in a while kill the trainer. then at 15 or 16 I would say a throne room group then at 17 to 20 a tower group, then you can head to lake of illomin and hunt

As you can see across the way is the castel well with levitate on your can run off Trainer hill to the castel roof. Its a good spot to med and just a whole lot of fun to look at everything and everyone kick and get some butt kicked. :)

Yeah, yer Dark Elf will be indiff to Kelethin guards but suddenly *KOS* to a bunch of NPCs in Neriak. DOH! Didn't ya notice all those faction hits you were taking with Indigo Brotherhood (the Neriak Warrior guild) for killing CB orcs? In any event you will likely still be KOS to certain NPCs in Kelethin (I have, for example, seen the Kelethin Banker attack characters who were not KOS to the guards), and of course you will still definitely be KOS in Felwithe. And if you do the CB belt/shoulderpad quest (after building up Storm Guard faction), you will take Oggok faction hits too (Craknek Warriors). A Dark Elf who spends a long time here will ***** up their evil factions big time.

This is why the only evil characters one normally sees in Crushbone are Iksar, who are pretty much hated everywhere anyway, and even those are a rare sight in CB. DEs are arguably the *worst* race to be adventuring in Crushbone.

Yeah, good point. I'm a gnome rogue and I've hunted in CB since lvl 9 (now 17). I thought that my faction would go up to the point where I could do some of the guild quests for the fun of it. Turns out only a few guilds there like me. The guards love me (ally) but the rogue guild hates me (not KoS, but I can't practice there....without usin sneak(^:). I have ally status with kaladim war's and guards, apprehensively with merchants.... You could say I'm one flugged up gnome.
Is CB good for a DE SK
# Jul 24 2001 at 7:19 PM Rating: Default
My first chars were WE's and I was just curious if CB would be a good place to go for a Dark Elf SK to lvl. I really don't want the Indigo Brotherhood to hate me after I kill some orcs and I was just wondering that if I spent the lvl's 9 -20 in CB, would I be able to go into Kelethin and would there be a way to get back into Neriak for spells at 15? Also, could I be bound at the orc lift in Kelethin even if the guards still want me dead?
Thanks
RE: Is CB good for a DE SK
# Aug 23 2001 at 2:36 PM Rating: Default
You CAN be bound at orc lift but it would be bad for you if you haven't got your faction up. I would suggest a bind point a little farther out from the guards..maybe just over the hill from teh lift but out of sight of the guards. Just a suggestion.

BTW, you can only bind in city zones. Kelethin is not it's own zone, it is in Greater Faydark. Therfore ALL of Greater Faydark is a city zone and ANYONE can be bound ANYWHERE in Gfay. Just a little info for those who didn't know...
RE: Is CB good for a DE SK
# Jul 26 2001 at 5:16 PM Rating: Decent
Yeah, you can bind at the orc lift while you are KOS to the guards...of course the guards will kill you immediately as you appear there after dying (over and over again)...

I'm not sure if you will be able to get your spells in Neriak if you are KOS to the Indigo Brotherhood (which you will be after doing 11 levels in CB)--I'm not real familiar with which NPCs are on that faction and where they are located, etc. I do know that the Neriak SK Guild is on a different faction ("The Dead"), so it may be possible to visit Neriak while avoiding NPCs who are on Indigo fac. I wouldn't risk it though if I were you...
GREAT WAY FOR DARKELF CLERICS TO GET FROM LEVEL 11-14 in abo
# Jul 15 2001 at 1:37 AM Rating: Default
.......Yep, I do think it is GREAT for darkelves, am I crazy? No. I have my own opinions... For one you earn wood/high-elf faction...though your own race may hate you after a while the elves will remain a reliable source... Still think I'm crazy?? Then READ------> I am not crazy, the orcs con: Looks your way apprehensively -- ***** **** *** ***** **** *** ***** ****, so you can feel save, DVinn wont attack you for a LONG time aswell, even when the orcs scowl at you Ready to attack. I have it so that DVinn glares at me threateningly, I cannot possibly get any worse faction with the CB orcs, the elves.......you don't wanna read, but if you truly thinks you won't shiver then read down ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------> Regards me indifferently... seems average huh??? ok then listen to this, I went through this process: Scowls at me ready to attack, glares at me threateningly, glowers at me dubiosly, looks my way apprehensively, *what it currently is for me*.... lets stop talking about what I accomplished in more than 1000 kills or so, lets talk about what you CAN accomplish and how easy it is... I reccomend this. Start fighting there at level 11. Get in a group and fight at bridge 1, in a group with a tank a caster and a healer(you). When you get to level 12 get in a FULL group with about 2 tanks 2 healers and 2 misc. in the throne roon, fight there till level 14 then go and get healing. Then get a person to buy you your spell, First get Healing, then Bind affinity, then get smite, then get symbol of transal, then get whatever you please, atleast that is what I reccomend. Then fight at Slaver cave, get keys 18 and 19 and free woodelven slaves to get merchant faction. Then do whatever you please in this zone till level 16 then do you might wanna fo what I'm gonna do when I get 16 go to Lake of Ill Omen, and that is how to get from... but I am only level 14, good luck!!

It's great for a ogre too I whent there at level 1 yes thats true level 1 the orcs won't attack you untill you kill alot of them what i did was wait for there to be a large amount of players on the server (1000+)then run around untill I found a little orc pawn standing some where all by him self and kill him they have less HP then the orc pawns outside CB (they only have about 15 hp) the lot is good you cant where it but you can have other people sell it for you then whent you have enough pp) buy banded armour and +str rings and +sta earings when you get to level 4 your still not kos so you can take on the weak orc centourns there belts are worth 5 gp to 1 pp each depends on the server and time of day right now i'm level 19 still in cb i have a full suit of fine plate on and i'm dual weilding a screaming mace and a minoture axe if you wondering how i got there at level one i'll just say theres lots of tulles under freeport but it has screwed me fraction with dark elfs but it only the warriors if your carfull you can still go there and not get killed i'm warmly to the kelethin kaladim and felwithe guards there is a quest in the warroir guild in kelethin that if you give this guy 1 bone chips 1 bat fur 1 ruined wolf pelt and 1 spiderling eye you get fraction with the emarald worriors and the merchants of both kelethin and felwithe and in kaladim in the paladin guild give this guy 4 bone chips and you get fraction with the merchant and the other guilds but you dont lose fraction one more thing dont do the cb belt quest if your a ogre you will lose fraction with the oggurk warrior guild.

Secret area
# Jul 10 2001 at 8:14 AM Rating: Default
I have discovered a secret orc-free area of crushbone. first, go the the castle. Cross the bridge, and walk left along the castle wall. eventually on your left you will see a ledge, near a river. jump onto the ledge and walk up until you get to a ramp going up that ends in a point. Jump across the ramp and into the secret area. No orcs spawn up here, and it is very high in the air. Great medding spot, and if you have enough wizards you can snare and DD a monster in the lego tents or Orc town to death. Orcs can get up here, but only if you pull them, and even then it takes them about 1-2 minutes to get there, and when things get tough, you can jump into the river.

I've read all of the posts on tactics for this zone and they all seem very well thought out and accurate, so I won't add to them here.

However, I didn't see mentioned my favorite safe spot for medding/healing, so I'll post it for everyone to use.

As you come out of the tunnel, and slightly to the right, you'll see the hill that the trainer is on. To get there you must jump onto the ledge on the left then (depending on race) jump again to the next higher ledge. Once on this second ledge, put your back to the wall and sit down to med.

I do this between battles when soloing crushbone. Nothing wanders past here unless it's running from Trainer hill or chasing someone who's training from the hill. Should this happen and you're outclassed, the zone is only a few short steps away.

The bonus of this spot is that you get to watch the trains run past, to the zone, and then you get to see them all wander back. The vantage point is great for conning mobs between 6 (when I started here) and 9, and you can pick & choose your battleground(s).

All in all, a great spot for lower levels who just want the pawns, or low teens who just need a safe location to med/head/get-drunk

Hope this helps, and Flame on if you wish. I can take it.
