Located beneath the Fortress Mechanotus, the Steam Factory is filled with Meldrath's minions. Gnomes supporting Meldrath are in charge of operations in the tunnels. They are tasked with keeping things running at levels meeting Meldrath's expectations. Steamworks can be found in all areas of the tunnels, helping with manufacturing, mining, or guard patrols. Minotaurs provide slave handling and brute labor.

The brownies of the tunnels receive the dubious honor of being the lowest on the chain of command and receive the most hazardous duties. However, a small group of the brownies have broken away from working for Meldrath and are working day and night to thwart the operations of the Steam Factory and the entire fortress.

a steamwork musician

There are two "a steamwork musician", in the corridor just south of entrance from Mechanotus. They are behind a door, red con at level 80, don't see invis, but I got insta aggro as soon as I removed invis at zone in. They hit me (80 druid) up to 6K, and I was reported up to 9K.

They also spam a few emotes :
- a steamwork musician bangs its hands on its chest like a drum, but with little rhythm.
- a steamwork musician plays its instrument, if you call that playing.
- a steamwork musician grinds out some noises with its jaw that sound like nails on a chalkboard.

Just an FYI if you are doing the POWERSTATION BLUEPRINTS task. Gnome Shock Troopers drop the blueprints more often in the westernmost room where you can jump off the edge into Dragonscale Hills.

well its part of the quest called spy reports u get after u do gurtrudes other task,u have to hail the fan operater to update the quest say gurtrude sent me , he than tells you to collect 4 items and bring them back to him , he makes u a miscalibrated driveshaft, u than take that driveshaft and insert it into the deactivated clockwork found underneath the walkway in the middle room in steamfacotry, that will cause gearwhir to spawn , oh ya he is mezable , but spawns 2-3 gimp adds also mezable have fun.

Directions: Take the cannon from DH to FM. Go west a litle bit, and drop down into the closest zone to The Steam Factory. When I zoned into SF, I checked track. This guy, red on track, was up at the top when sorted by consider, along with four other nameds. I wasn't looking for this guy, I was just exploring. I think I misinterpreted my tracking data. I went south, took the first brownie tunnel west, passed through the brownie room, to a medium sized room with gnomes in it. I went west through the short tunnel into a room at the end. I opened the door, and almost instantly died. I didn't have a chance to see what was going on before invis broke, but this is what I gathered from using f9 and f10 after death. There are about five gnomes/robots in there, one of which is Quartermaster Thickgear. He looked like a steam suit found elsewhere in SF. He probably saw invis (I didn't /con him, but something in the room broke my invis, and trash in SF doesn't seem to see invis.) Trash mobs hit me first for 591 to 2633, and then the boss hit me twice, once for 1321, and another time for 4776. This was on a 79 ranger with full defensive available at level 79 except for one aa and AC of about 2950. And I died in about a second, or less. My break invis alarm went off, and I thought oo, and I was dead. It truly is painless when it happens that fast.

I think this is supposed to be a groupable mob, but how is anyone supposed to deal with this kind of punishment? This seems kind of crazy to me. Out of 15 mob swings at me, I took 8 hits total, and had four swings that were misses, and one swing each a riposte, a parry and a dodge. A level 80 more uber player would have a max total of three addtional aa's in defensives, more AC, trivially higher defensive skills (dodge, riposte, etc.) more avoidance and shielding, but they would likely ? only take one less hit, and have somewhat less total incoming damage, but the pull would still be very damaging. You can see my thinking. /rant off (for now)

Spawned in a huge room, with wide cat walks. He was high above the factory floor, on one of the cat walks, with four or so mobs next to him. He was sitting at a work station. He had a generous aggro range. I assume it was him who saw through my invis because none of the other trash mobs I conned saw through it. He hit me for 4896, 1122, and his friends hit for 511 to 2820. I was dead before I could take any actions. From the break in invis to death was likely about a second. This was on a ranger with about 2950 AC, and max defensive for level 78.

Do you have other information to go along with that? (ie. the name of the task, who gives it, task steps, etc.)

Named oil-slime mob on the south side of the zone. Quads FAST for 5k on an Anguish-level WAR. Was two-rounded by this mob, which then proceeded to kill off the rest of my group in a matter of seconds.
