The god of fear himself, Cazic Thule, resides here in the Plane of Fear. Its rough terrain and bloodred sky are indicative of the horrors that await those who dare venture here.

Deathtouching golems, shadowstepping scarelings, mass-dispelling tentacles terrors and evil eyes, blinding nightmares, and other vicious creatures are just a few of the denizens which serve Cazic Thule, and which look to destroy any mortals foolish enough trespass into their realm.

Level 46 is required to enter the zone.

Level 71 Rogue accompanied by Mercenary whacked the Scareling on the first try.
I have SOS, but got aggroed while applying SOW potion (mummy lady, spider, and a
scareling). While they were busy with the MERC I backstabbed the Scareling.
I looted the Eyerazzia and made my exit with Vial of Swirling Smoke (instant gate).

As a 66 rogue with over 200 poison skill, I decided it was about time that I get eyerezzia for GM vial quest. This is a rare drop from scarelings, which also (supposedly) spawn the enraged and ireblind imp for Berserker epic. In the several times that I have been here in small and large groups, here is what I have observed:

Zoning in: As a rogue with SoS, you can zone in and scout the zone without fear of aggro. You should know that all of those mobs you see at bottom of zone in hill will aggro people that zone in without SoS, even though it looks like they are out of range. AGGRO RANGE IN THIS ZONE IS EXTREMELY LARGE. Some of peeps in groups and raids were able to invis in, others caught aggro from undead or other mobs. Necros, SK, and monks can FD aggro away, as there are few casters. As a rogue with SoS, you can also run through the ring of fire and zone out through a portal in the second level of temple.

Mobs randomly roam the entire zone, even the very corners. If you can break in without aggro and move to a corner, you would think it would be safe to single pull stuff... and you would be wrong. Scarelings can Teleport you to other parts of zone with attack, which aggros a whole other ton of stuff. The mobs themself aren't that hard (hit for around 100 on me at 1200 AC), although some of them dispel like 5 buffs at a time, it's just the constant adds that kill you. Basically, you really need an enchanter with AoE mez or at least 2 solid groups to break in and start clearing, or one extremely well geared and skilled group. You can also have someone train all the mobs away from zone in while the rest of your force zones in and moves to a wall to set up camp, and I highly recommend this method.

Fight to a wall and start clearing everything you can see, avoiding golems, cazic, and dracoliche if you see them. Dracoliche is unslowable as far as I can tell, and nailed me for over 1500 a few times, making him a pain in the butt with all the HPS he has (like a normal dragon). Terror is only golem that doesn't Deathtouch every 30 seconds, but instead he may have an AOE nuke. We killed the other two golems by sending in a sacrifice for DT and then pulling them to bottom of temple area, with ENC mezzing the Amaglydn bodyguards while we burn golem down. Golems actually have very little hps, With 10 moderatly geared peeps of 55-70, we were able to drop golems before they could DT the MT (within 30 seconds).

I have never seen a scareling drop eyerezzia or spawn the epic imp, and the golems only dropped the warrior epic piece, a ruby, and puppet strings when we killed them... which was quite upsetting for everyone (especially necros) after 5 hours of dying and clearing and frustration. At least we made two shaman happy!

Despite improvements in equipment, levels, and AA, this zone is still incredibly difficult and frustrating without a full raid force or a few uber groups. Nobody wants to raid here except the classes that need epic stuff, and even they would rather avoid it. I am extremely disappointed in the drop rate from the mobs here considering how difficult the area is, and considering that the trash scarelings needed for eyerezzia and ireblind imp are on an 8 hour respawn timer. I think the best way to get the epic stuff or rogue drop you need here would be to bring your guild in and just camp the whole damn thing for a week.

Your other option is to form a pickup raid and frustrate yourself endlessly, as this zone does not forgive mistakes (the kind that seem to happen alot in pickup raids). I would give yourself a good 2-3 hours to zone in, clear, and start pulling golems.

No way to zone out?
# Jan 12 2006 at 2:24 PM Rating: Decent
I've read all the posts here and elsewhere but have not seen anything about zoning out (I may have just missed it). I've seen posts mentioned using gate potions and Evac spells (which my succor spell [lvl 70 wiz] didn't work) but nothing about just zoning out. When I was in PoF last night I tried to zone out by clicking on the port that we came in through, but it didn't seem to work. Tried running THROUGH the portal and still nothing happened. Would someone please confirm that gating is the only way to get out of this zone.

There is a zone-out within the Temple, however, it is guarded by numerous creatures that can HT and will quickly swarm you, so it's by no means easy to get to. The doorway that leads to the zoneout is on the lower level of the temple on the West side.

I just got my bard epic peice here. Just me (56 bard) and a 62 necro most of the time. Starting when the zone was totally full. When you first start pulling of course you get 10-25 mobs at a time which is no good. I just kited those mobs around while my necro friend picked single mobs off the train. Once he'd killed it I brought around another for him to kill. It took about 4 hours but we did manage to clear almost all of the zone. The trick was to twist the magic/fire/ice resist song and selo's constantly to avoid being rooted, feared, or nuked.

This did not take a raid force and dozens of deaths (just 5 deaths actually, 2 while I was trying to figure it out and 2 from an underconned chanter epic mob).
When i got in trouble I just ran very very far from my train and camped. The crappy pathing in the zone ensured that either they didn't get to me in time or they forgot where I was stopped following.

waiting for the Wraith of a Shissar to pop. servers just came back up this morning after the patch, a GM had to pop the zone for us, got a huge group of ppl together in the guild to mess around and a few needed epics......so we killed all but Cazic Thule in this zone, and still waiting for my epic Shissar to pop for me........anyone know why all the other mobs would pop but this one after the server came back up? thought all the mobs were suppose to pop? btw dont know if ppl know this or not, but some on the no trade stuff with the not so wonderful stats on it, take it to whatever class's guildmaster in pok, hand it to them and they give u exp and a gem.

Dunno what was going on, but we had some pickup raid of random people to get shammy epics (was before epic 2.0s came out). There were like 3 groups of people past 55 or so, and thought it'd be a pushover.. We got in and started to kill stuff trying to organize, then people start dropping like popcorn, we run around invis going to get corpses and rez, and constantly people keep getting killed. Guess golems were summoning people, but after a while of this going on I got fed up and Gated. Either we had crappy crowd control or then underrestimated old school planes.

Got my tear month ago or so by 70sk sending me tell out of nowhere to come get it if I want one. Much love to Clan nan Dreolan. >_<

I currently have 4 or 5 guildmembers that require drops from this zone to proceed or finish their epics 1.0 however since the merger it is rare for us to find any mobs up let alone the names. The one time we managed to go in with half the zone spawned the group clearing the zone claimed to be doing it for "fun". Am I in the minority thinking that there are lots of other zones that are significantly more fun to fight in? Clearing fear without a toon lookin for a 1.0 drop seems a bit pointless to me...besides the fact that the group doing this could have been easily taking out any of the luclin bosses and getting gear they could actually use/trade/twink...

Just wondering if anyone is feeling the same way...

Just learned a new trick tonight, if u got the golems and the dracoliche in the center all together, pull CT to the side, and when that person dies, you can peel the golems that came to CTs aid, 2 groups could of not even VT geared peepz could handle them. Worked out very well for groups that were struggling, but this can mess up the dracoliche's roam track.

I had of coarse knew things like this before, but CTs agro range is very large for attacking any other of the named like the golems etc., and when actualy done looks very crazy. Plus the 3 time geared people we had were surprised like hell it worked.

Hello all. I am trying to get the ireblind imp to spawn for a guild mate and so far hae had no luck. I started this at the end of november and now it is Febuary and still no imp. I have cleard the zone now at least 4 times and I am sure I have done it more than that since november, they just run together. We have always killed all the scarelings around the zone in and WW camp but have only gotten to the wandering imp way up the west wall twice. None of them spawned the enraged imp. Has anyone been able to spawn this guy latly and if so do you remember what area you pulled that scareling from? Any help here would be grand, thanks all.

Just about every time I take my guild to Fear we manage to spawn this fellow. All it takes is killing scarelings. Every time the enraged has spawned its been with killing scarelings around the zone in area, usually toward the SW corner. I think only once did we go to Fear and not have the enraged spawn.

So, I've been thinking of taking my 66 necro into fear for the purpose of killing scarelings for the Eyerazzia drop for my rogue. The idea being to bring in Necro, agro kite the scarelings and camp once the sword drops. Id then zone in my rogue to run to the loc and pick up the loot, then insta-gate potion out. Think this would work? Any other suggestions?
Break ins since OOW
# Jan 08 2005 at 12:12 PM Rating: Default
Ya since OOW and new buffs and higher lvls Break in isn't as hard. Yesterday we cleared the ZI with one grp. 70cleric, 70shm, 70rog, 70brd, 66enc, and me 66warr. As before get buffed before going in. Invis yourself, then we had Brd. turn on Invis song. We all went in at the same time once we seen the brd. go in. Once everyone is inside we went to WW of course we got busted and ended up having 20+ mobs, but just kept mezzing and killing. Sometimes ya get summoned a short distance from the wall, make sure you stay still turn to see where your going then get back to the wall ASAP. Also bring a with you keep out in a open inventory slot incase there is need of a EVAK.. It's instant and worth every plat.

Well, a level 70 Necro can solo clear the entire zone other than CT and the death-touching mobs, so yes, I'd agree: Fear's not so hard anymore :).
Recent brak in
# Dec 21 2004 at 10:15 AM Rating: Good
Break in is not all it's cracked up to be any more. Break in group consisted of 8 people. 65 Cleric, 65 Chanter, 65 Ranger, 64 Warrior, 64 Shaman, 60 Paladin, 58 Shaman, 56 Bard. Zoned invis, ran to WW. We aggroed around 20 mobs between zone in and the end of fighting at the WW camp. Most conned DB to me at 65, a few LB's with all pets being green. I had little difficulty keeping the adds mezzed while we picked off one or two at a time.

I speculate and will likely test that the Cleric, Chanter and Ranger could likely do it alone. I think we aggroed all that could possibly be in range of zone in when we entered. A smaller group would be more likely to get by with minimal adds.

We proceeded to clear most of the zone, staying away from Fright and Dread who were up. Shaman and Bard leave, add a 70 chanter, 70 SK, 65 War, and 65 SK, 65 Rogue. Fright and Dread were easy from that point. Low HP's, low DPS, just Death touch. No more than 2 DT's per fight.

After Fright and Dread, one group remained. Pulling Temple went bad. We must have pulled 20-30 all at once and some were not mezzable. For the temple, I recommend a FD puller and aim for ONE at a time. You will get more, I promise. FD inside the ring of fire and wait till you think 1 is in range. Tag him and run. This should help prevent getting the whole temple but you WILL get multiples anyway.

Take a chanter for CC, a Cleric for heals/rezzes, and all the DPS you can muster. Most mobs are low DPS and fairly low health.

Small Raid
# Sep 19 2004 at 10:32 AM Rating: Decent
Last night got into Fear with a raid of 24 ppl and everything went fairly easy, only 4 deaths out of the entire wiping of the zone except for like 4 mobs. had a 66 sk zone in and make sure zone in was clear, the rest zoned in and headed west to the wall, and killed anything that came by us. moved south along wall then east again along wall. eventually we made it to the temples which didn't have Dread, Terror, or Fright up atm which sucked. but make it to the temple with fire around it and pulled the mob for the chanter epic. Ended up pulling the entire castle/temple. My shaman died along with a cleric, pally, and forgot who else but there were only 4 deaths. Got rez and finished going around the zone killing everything. Just upsetting that we went there mainly to get my shaman an iksar tear and another shaman guildie a tear also... but we plan on doing this again cause we had a blast.

Suggestions from my Experiance
# Sep 11 2004 at 4:21 PM Rating: Excellent
Just to share my PoF experiance...

This map from Amused's post is a good one and served us well. Plane of Hate

1. Buff up for serious fighting before you zone in. Aggro is crazy in this zone.
2. Invis before entering, there are no undead right at the zone in.
3. Move immediately to the West Wall Camp. Do not stand at the zone in portal once you have entered Fear.
4. When moving to the west wall camp, do not wander south at all. You will find yourself with the berserker mob on your head because the aggro range is rather big here.
5. The North Wall Camp is completely free of mobs but is far from the zone in and cannot be reached via invis.
6. If you do wipe before you clear the mobs around the west wall camp and need to rez a raid party, I recomend having your FD people move bodies to the north wall camp and then a necro run to the north wall camp (since he can FD and clear aggro) and rez a cleric to then rez the rest of the raid party. You can stand there and buff as long as you like with out fear of aggro.
