I was wondering if anyone had any information on this NPC, you kill him for a ruby, which is connected to the hollow/jewelled skull quest.

Kurrpok spawns in the area with the Judges and Executioners, I generally reach this area through the underwater tunnel but you can take the normal route. If you reach a big open area with hooks hanging from the ceiling, you're in the right place.

Kurrpok is killed by them almost immediately upon spawning, since he is a Splitpaw.

If you kill all the Judges and Executioners you will have time to kill Kurrpok yourself, thus being able to loot the corpse.

What classes and races can equipt the weapon from the Gnoll Slayer Quest and who do you turn the Gnoll eye and the book in to?

I am looking for this information so I know who will need to roll on these items when we raid Splitpaw ;o)

Ok u know how u want the gnoll slayer? here let me tell u. You first go to balckburrow and kill lord elgnub located in snake pit(just ask around)When u kill him u loot a baby called joseph slayer. You then go to Martin Slayer in qeynos hills and give him the baby. He gives you the gnoll slayer. I think it does 7 damage 1hs 5 bonus agains't gnolls and between 30 and 40 delay
Very good agains't gnolls. My level 19 warrior on tunare has this. :)

THEN go to Infected Paw and follow the directions several folks have already posted here to get the UPGRADED Gnoll Slayer.

Its a 1HS and my wife's 52 Ranger took it to Jaggedpine to test it. She was doing 2H weapon damage numbers with a 1H weapon---awesome! I saw hits for 114 points!

a Lteth Val Scribe drops the book. Not sure how common, as I got it on the very first kill. Same with the eye from the one eyed gnoll. Hardest part is getting down to the scribe, as he's pretty far down. i was just able to hide and sneak my way down, so wasnt too much of a problem.
The Book

The book is called the Journal of Greater Enchantments, drops off a something Scribe fairly deep into Splitpaw. The book is used, along with the Gnoll Eye in the once broken Gnoll Slayer quest. It turns it into a 15/40 3ac +10 bane dmg : gnolls +25svd and 2 right click charges of instacast Companion Spirit, a 34 shaman pet spell. It is no drop and lore. Oh, and it has Atk Bonus 1 also. My ranger is lv 30 and has one, and cannot use the charges yet. I do not know the level limit for it.

The Companion Spirit can be summoned from level 34 on. 2 charges is rather less and the 'pet' will poof as soon as you zone, die or logout. Don't know if the sword is rechargable though.

You didn't imagine the book. I looted that yesterday. But like you I didn't find ANYTHING about it. The mob that drop that is a gnoll scribe or something like that.

If someone got some info on this PLS let us know.

Just wanted to let ya know I looted the summon corpse spell off of a snake in the water past the gate. Not sure if this is very common but if you can't kill Ishva I would try killing the snakes under the waterfall. I thought it was a fluke but it does drop off them.

I was recently in a group in this zone late at night this past week, and both the bedroom and barrel room were camped. None of us had all that much experience in the zone but we decided that we would try crawling through the dungeon and see how far we could get.

On our first attempt we only had five people. It was wizzy (me), monk, warrior, and two clerics. We got accross the bridge easily and killed all the mobs in the first room outside of the three doors. Since there were no more mobs up I sent ahead my eye (from Eye of Zomm spell) and scouting out the area behind each of the three doors.

After scouting, I decided that we should try for the first door. We simply owned it! Our monk pulled one to two mobs at a time, and then the warrior would start in on it and when it got down to about 35% life I could kill it with one nuke. Just had to take out the healers and other casters first.

After that being so easy we decided to go and take out the third door. We skipped over the second door because there were only a few mobs in there, whereas the third had tons. We had almost finished clearing the room outside the doors and we were on the last mob when it started running to the third door. It went through and aggro'd all the mobs in the third room up the bridge, catching us at 50% mana and I had to evac.

We then picked up a chanter and made another run for it. This time we were at full mana before going in the third door but the chanter's mezzes woudln't take hold so I had to evac again. Still no deaths to this point.

On our next attempt we dropped one cleric and picked up a bard. This time we took the third room easily, and we were at the gold mines before I had to evac this time because the cleric died. All in all everyone gained about three oranges of exp and only one death that whole time. THis can be a very fun zone if people have the courage to venture past the barrel room.

It is just me or this this zone heavily underused? I often find 1 or 2 groups here camping teh bedroom and barrel room yet never venturing far past the doors. There is so much exp to be had, you just have to work your way into the dungeon. Is it just because Karana is such an old server?

the problem with this zone that once you are past the doors you start risking trains to a higher dagre, also the mobs are getting stronger and most groups in this zone(mid 30s or lower) can't handle that

Soloing from 35 to 38
# Jan 08 2002 at 3:39 AM Rating: Decent
This is an addition to my previous post...
When you reach 36 or so, you can add two more mobs to your rotation. These two are the mobs behind the BR which are closer to the entrance. Previously, the Tesch Mal was too difficult to take but by now, you shouldnt have a problem, and if you do, the zone is real close to run to. Follow the same pattern adding these two mobs last, as to avoid aggro. Doing this should land you 1 yellow per hour and a half if you are efficient as me... bandages supply is the most important issue here, as well as using the HP gear ON/OFF method as I described earlier.
Another note, decent money can be made here too for the level. Invest in an EE bag to store the FS weapons that drop. When it gets full go out to SK and sell them to the Centaur merchants. Hope this info helped!

A great rarity and blessing to me to have found a place for a WARRIOR to solo BETTER than grouping! I found this to be the case from level 31 to 37. You need decent gear, and depending what level you are in that range, your tactics will vary. Anywho, heres how I did it:
Only play late at night, you need the zone to yourself. The place known as bedroom or "BR" is a safehaven for resting, and the place you should pull to. For me there were two periods of different mob rotations. From 31 to 35, I had 4 mobs that I consistently pulled in about 20 minutes intervals. First, you take the mob directly outside the BR. Second, you take the mob in the other room adjacent to BR. Third is the first mob of the MR which lies just on the other side of some rocks. And fourth, the mob in the MR furthest from the doors where most groups sit when they are there. If you pull in that order, you should be able to take them one at a time and bandage up in between. Which brings me to my next strategy... Have lots of badages. What i did was buy an embalmers skinning knife which procs summone bandage. This was great because i switched it to my primary wep as soon as a mob began running and once in awhile it would proc a new supply of bandages. It is even better if you have lots of HP gear. Take off all the HP gear you have, then bandage. When you cannot bind wound any more, put the HP gear back on. I got up to around 65% health by donig this in between every fight. And my last tip, if you are on Fennin Ro, do not use this strategy for another week, because I want the dungeon to myself!
Kurrpok
# Jan 01 2002 at 10:32 AM Rating: Default
Kurrpok Splitpaw spawns right by the Verishe(Mal)Executioner. Kurrpok is killed immediately as he spawns (by the Executioner).

Exec hits for 79, (at least the one that is in front of me at the moment) so Kurrpok dies quickly.

Kurrpok spawns every 18 minutes. Slightly less, perhaps 17. Same as the nomral spawns.
Kurrpok has more than 372 HP.

1- I tried to kill him before the Exec aggros on him, with no success - he started to run away, i "couldnt see my target" for a second, and for some reason, while some Judges were nuking me with Wrath (they are all clerics as far as i know), a Judge actually healed Kurrpok. By that time i had no choice but to FD.

2- I let the Exec aggro Kurrpok first, taunt Exec, hit Kurrpok - but once again the Judge(s) healed him.

3- I pull the Exec right before Kurrpok spawns, but he always gets back to his spawn point immediately. So pulling Exec somewhere, FDing, leaving him there and killing Kurrpok, will not work. Perhaps if i could kill him, his next spawn would not be like that (would not run back to spawn point as soon as I FD).

This is typical Verant zone design. Designed for a raid.

Good luck :(

Me(39 paladin) and a 54 druid, 58 paladin, and 35 cleric were here for a good 3-4 hours and one named poped, Mr. Widemouth, dropped a +1 int neck slot. Is there a way to get them to pop or do you just need to wait?

ACCTUALLY its youre wisdom that lowers the chances of charm hitting u.....i didnt belive it either but i bought an EQ guide full of maps and it said the same thing so i twinked a cleric to about 195 wis and got it lvl 40...took it to paw and it never got charmed even when soloing against the enc's.

I don't know for sure, so I won't get into the debate. But, I will say that I was reading an EQ guide at a computer store, and it listed Heroic Bond as a level *62* spell... many other spells were listed incorrectly, so just dont believe every EQ book that you read.

The dagger seems to drop off of all of them. It is an extremely common drop though, you should be able to pick up at least one in a single evening fighting there. Most of the groups I've fought in ignores the daggers. I usually loot one, and let the rest rot.

I started there at 23.
at that low of a level you could do well if you can get into a group.

On average I usually see 0 to 12 people in the zone and they are only usually pulling upto the bridge. A group at your level might not want to pass the double doors. Unless you have a decent enchanter.

There is nothing wrong with this zone. There is a 13% exp bonus for hunting in this zone. The mobs are not too hard, and die fast if you have a group. You can take up to 3 at a time if you have a full group of 25 - 30. The berrels is the best place to camp. Nice spawns and only 1 spawn in that area that is in agro range when it pops. You can pull the rest if you have a good puller...monk that can FD. Some charm and can make things go bad, but most of the time it will not last long. Stay at the berrels and pull all the spawns around you and youll be fine. Under the bridge are 3 spawns. You can pull just 2 if you have a good puller, all 3 will come if you dont, and one of the gnolls is a caster. Always kill the casters first! Your puller can die from a gnoll chain casting on him.

I have been in this zone with my twink war from 25 to 30 and will stay till im 31. The 13% exp bonus help to get out of hell lvl. Then off to the OT or whatever after that.

Good luck and have fun...its a nice zone for exp.
RE: This zone
# Nov 27 2001 at 6:32 PM Rating: Decent
I have to agree there is nothing wrong with this zone. With a full group in there late 20s you can pull all night with no deaths. The only thing that may (and I stress may) give you a little trouble is Nish(healer)and the 2 mobs she always has with her. However with a someone stunning her and keeping the other 2 mobs mezzed you can get thru that no prob. Oh yeah and the expi here is sick ).
Question...

Has anyone ever found a book or Gnoll eye down there? Attempting to gather info on the Gnoll Slayer quet and this is most likly place for what info i already have.
I've been here forever!
# Sep 25 2001 at 8:40 AM Rating: Decent
I love this zone! I've been here nonstop since level 25. I started fighting outside the dungeon in SK, but soon moved in. It is a very safe zone to fight in as long as you have a good puller. The loot is Fine Steel weapons and splitpaw armor, both of which can be sold either to merchants or players for decent profit. I'm level 34 now, and plan on hitting 35, then perhaps leaving, not sure though, might stay till 40 who knows. . . .
