Deep inside Broken Skull Rock are the Torgiran Mines, where downtrodden slaves delve into the ore-rich depths of the island.

The ore is moved by rail out to Dulak's Harbor, processed in the refinery, and used to create ship's fittings and primitive weapons. The mines themselves occasionally dip below sea level, sometimes even uncovering lava pools. The Luggald have erected shrines and etched mystic runes in the mines, which seem to prevent them from flooding.

a water spirit
# Dec 04 2006 at 5:43 PM Rating: Decent
Was in the mines today just messing around with my 65 monkey. I Went into the first room with a pool in it at around 1447 -691. the room with 5 mobs in it. After killing the first mob "a water spirit" spawned in the pool. I went ahead and killed all the other mobs in the room then went up and hailed the spirit. It said "I sense a young spirit of flesh and blood nearby. Those that wish to corrupt it have trapped the spirits of four fearsome beasts within this magical pool. They are known as the frenzy, berserk, fury, and rage spirits. Tell me which of these do you choose to cleanse from the pool? Be forewarned these are powerful creatures that can rarely be matched in battle." I said "fury". A water spirit despawned and a furious luggald abomination spawned. Max hit was 166 and did not have many more HPs then the others. droped an Opal and nothing else.

Saw a water spirit spawn in the 5-spawn luggald room today as well, he was hovering above the pool. He was indifferent to me (barbarian shaman), and I didn't hail him. He despawned a few minutes later.
This zone is fun.

gnome captive event/a luggald torturer
# Jun 15 2004 at 1:00 AM Rating: Decent
Was doing xp grind as a duo with my fiance's enchanter clearing defiler/rimak and assorted surrounding mobs. After finishing last luggald in the rotation from Rimak's room, a non-aggro gnome NPC captive spawned in the middle of Rimak's room. At the same time 2 " a luggald torturer " spawned. The first wandered out of the defiler room and into Rimak room to take a spot to the left of the gnome and the second popped at the doorway into the "L" of defiler/rimak hallway. We were setup in the corner and so the second aggro'd on us. Killed it easy enough...hit a touch harder than normal for the area but pure melee. We decided to see what was what and killed the remaining torturer as well. Neither dropped anything of note, but the gnome captive's name changed. Upon hailing him we were asked to distract the guards while he escapes. Gave the phrase "I will distract the guards while you escape." and he immediately despawns and two more torturers spawn. After 4 or 5 "waves" of 2x torturers at a time, we got another named luggald to spawn in Rimak's room. Forget the name of the mob, but it was also melee only and dropped nothing special. We ran low on mana by the 9th or 10th wave and finally had to let one of the torturers despawn. This ended the "event" if you want to call it that. Shame we couldn't keep it going longer as it was quite fun and interesting. Been hunting the area often and have yet to see it happen again.
Captains
# May 04 2004 at 4:44 PM Rating: Decent
I soloed all four captains. 63 Enchanter with a dire charmed pet. There as enough time to med and let pet heal up between pulls.

Pbae stuns worked just fine on each, slow was "mostly successful" and landed just fine since I pulled them with tash. Yes, they summon. No big deal, let pet get agro after tash then slow, let pet get agro again for a while then nuke or step up and stun. Enraged below 10%.

Only one had any drop at all:

After spending a week hunting here I'd have to say even with it being a hot spot this zone sucks. The experience isn't that good, the named are rediculously rare, the drops from those named aren't great enough to excuse their rarity, etc.
I can understand nerfing pop rates to discourage farming. What I can't understand is that it also means people genuinely interested in using an item have close to zero chance of seeing it.
Oh well, on the bright side after clearing over 400 crazed miners I got ONE blue diamond! Woohoo. Oh... and something like 40-50 killings of the Mutated Laborer's spawn got him to pop once. I am the proud owner of:

I have to agree. The named are VERY rare compared to any other zone I've played in EQ, then you have to get lucky and get the rare drop and not the common. With alot better places to exp and get loot, it's no wonder these LoY zones are dead, think Sony would realize some things...
RE: Captains
# Jun 11 2004 at 12:54 AM Rating: Default
I also agree :) Although I still fight here some of the time because there isn't much else for my level. Even the basic loot such as coins or items sucks very bad. And like another person mentioned, I have only come across ONE gem of the tons of things I have killed. Thats just pathetic and poor zone design (like many of the zones are). I think Verant just slaps these zones together so they can make more money off us in another expansion. Probably some automated zone creator.

While camping the Defender I saw three "an elite Broken Skull dreadguard"'s spawn on track, all Dark Blue to a 65. I immediately went and found one alone near pit trap. I killed him (root rot, pure meleer) and he dropped nothing. A check of track and the other two had despawned. Any idea's who these guys are???

These are randomly spawned when a mob in the "Taskmaster Waggad Brokenskull" area is killed on the map given below. They give awesome exp, similar to BoT exp.

I think alot of the areas in TM have these type of random mobs pop, probably just to give exp, not loot, as I have not gotten any "item" ever from killing these random spawns. Makes this zone unique I think.

I have pictures of this mob and several other new mobs to submit very soon.

on 9/6/04, "a Water spirit" spawned for me. I hailed it and it talked about four different kinds of trapped spirits. Not knowing what to do, I piced one and said, "a frenzy". A frenzied luggald appeared. It wasn't any harder than any others really. Unfortunately, he didn't drop anything.

The water element spawns after a certain amount of luggalds that spawn around the pool die. I have heard that after you spawn all 4 a rare spawn appears and you kill it for loot.

Hello )

Here is a map with the named I have done after farming the mines solo (as a 65 bard).

The blue points are mobs I have killed, and I am sure of the position.
The blue/green point are mobs I dont remember the exact place, or place supposed to be after reading posts of players :)

Very rare spawns in pool room but found something very interesting today, A luggald beast spawned, that was new to me, we killed it, then the 3 horrors spawned, right after we killed him, and then we took the horrors down quick, and another new spawn a Luggald Fiend. we fought him fast. very rare so if you see him your lucky, been fighting in the pool room for a while, first time i seen him.

New sword
# Jun 03 2003 at 11:53 AM Rating: Decent
Looks like I'm the first to get this sword. Well I was lucky. In my old guild there was an sk who soloed in the mines for a long time. He gathered up nice aa exp and pretty nice loot to. He was hunting a named that was suppose to drop a nice wisdom bracer and a sword. When it spawned he killed it and it droped the sword and he gave it to me. This was one of the nicest gestures anyone has ever done for me during my whole eq carrer while I have been doing it for others as well. I got this weapon in april and it still isn't listed on this site yet. I didn't ask him the name of the mob though. I should have though cause the sword looks very nice and everyone keeps inspecting me when I have it on. This is the blade:

Etched Zraxthril Warblade
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM
Slot: PRIMARY SECONDARY
Skill: 1H Slashing Atk Delay: 26

Recommended level of 44.
Effect: Flame Shock (Combat)

I'm not sure how much its worth, I'll bet quite a bit though.

the luggold defiler. He spawns in the northern section of the zone. If you come through the false wall from nadox and follow that passage...past where the fake floor trap is then staying to the right go down the stairs you will come to the room with 4 passages exiting. The left passage goes to the seer spawn, straight ahead goes to the large room with the boss mobs, to the right is the defiler.

Take the right passage all the way, through a samll room and then beyond. The passage turns to the left, there is a small room ahead to the right, and a larger room straight ahead. The defiler spawns in the room to the right. There are 3-4 mobs in there, he spawns in the spot farthest to the right, just inside the door.

Didn't see this mob in the listing above. He's one of the possible spawns at the lake that you have to swim through the tunnels to get to. Dark blue con to all of our group (levels 55-57). He hit our mage with a Lure of Frost, so that'd make him a 52+ wizard. He also cast Paralyzing Earth and something that looked like Rend. No special loot from the one we killed.

Found him up yesterday... robed luggald (Cle)down in the area near the big boss room... Found him again tonite, very rare spawn. He was enchanter, dblue to 65. Soloed him at the Torg/Nadox zoneline, was a tricky pull. Gated at 5% life the first time, had to get him again. Had a tendency to charm, but high MR cures that problem. Dropped:

Recommended level of 45

Not a bad caster ring... seemed worth it for the effort of having to pull him solo to the zone line w/o adds..

Found this guy here, Foreman Desug. Is actually an ogre rather than a troll. Pure melee, hit for low 200s max. Dark blue to 65.

Dropped: Foreman's Work Orders- Range AC2 Cha7 Int4 Mana25 Rec Level47. Nec,Wiz,Mag,Enc/ all

Spawns in one of the back rooms from the nadox zone. From the room in the back that has 4 passages (one goes to seer room, one to stairs down to the huge hall) take the right/ south passage. the next room has a short run of stairs to the left/ east, go down there, through the next to rooms to the last/ third room in that chain, he spawned at the center back of this room. The hardest part was getting to him, not a hard fight.

If u free 20 or so of these resistance miners ... the Overseer Wrank and his 4 Capts. will pop and he will do a zone wide shout (something bout intruders)... nvr made it to Overseer .. came around corner invised and ran into Capt. Lung who sees thru invis and hits in the 225 range. 2 adds and 30 seconds later and I was dead. He was DB to me (54 shaman) but was way underconned IMO.
