Prisoners
# Oct 02 2004 at 4:58 PM Rating: Decent
All the doors are now locked (except the ones in and out of the arena). There is a guard over by the 3 prison cells, and a prisoner in each cell. All the prisoners say the same thing, that they were recently transferred from Katta, and they want you to go there and find the key to their cages and another key to their shackles. I have looked around Katta and i didnt see anything new or suspicous. I dont think there even is a prison in Katta. Anyone know what this is all about? Part of someones epic 2.0 perhaps?

500 Trader limit in the bazaar
# Jul 28 2003 at 9:17 AM Rating: Decent
I found out last night that there can only be a maximum number of 500 traders in the bazaar at any one time. I am sure there are technical reasons why but it seems like a small number compared to the numebr of people buying and selling. Maybe when someone has sold everythng they are removed from the 'trader' option after a few minutes??? Anyhone have any other suggestions to pass along to Sony?
bizarre bazaar death
# May 25 2003 at 8:32 AM Rating: Decent
I was watching over my son's shoulder last night while he was sitting in the bazaar with his lvl 19 necro....He was sitting facing the wall with the bazaar screen open just browsing for charisma items, when all of a sudden he was knocked unconscious...He regained consiousness for a minute, then was hit again...I don't remember the exact dialogue, but it said something to do with "you have been hit by pain and suffering and are bleeding to death"...Needless to say, he died...Unprovoked, and on a non-PvP (the Rathe) server...Any ideas of what hit him? I see nothing in the bestiary list that looks likely.

Well, I would make the following guess.

As he's level 19, he probably was fighting in Palual Caverns prior to coming to the bazaar. In paludal, he probably fought some of those fiends, and picked up a case of the creeping crud. This is a VERY long lasting DoT spell, and I have seen people die a significant time after they stop fighting, when their regen spells wear off, and their HP slowly drop to nothing.

The pain and suffering hits you thing, has been in the game since 2001 when I started playing. I was told that it was put in to deal with some bug that was happening when people died from non-melee damage, although I am not sure what the bug was.

Similar to the HP to mana conversion spell, there is a summoned weapon that does that smal thing (I believe) I have been in the bazaar when it has APPEARED in my hand. I didn't use it, but I has been told in converts HP to mana and cares little for whether your toon can actually SURVIVE the conversion. Or something like that!

Mod rods. "Rod of Mystical Transvergance" is their techincal name but everybody calls them mod rods. They're summoned by magicians and yes, works as an hp to mana conversion spell. They're SUPPOSE to be for raids... for instance a wizard will open up a manaburn on the monster then mod rod back some mana and start firing off spells like normal. However some jackasses use it in the bazaar to attempt to intentionally lag out people with older systems or graphics set high on newer systems. Which is why one appeared in your hand; some nice soul was trying to make you go linkdead.
RE: bizarre bazaar death
# Jun 22 2003 at 11:31 AM Rating: Decent
I would say the most likely culprit here was the necro HP to mana conversion spell. It's easy to forget that it's running. . . and it CAN kill you if you don't watch it.
I'm not sure if this is still the case, but there used to be a bug where this spell could continue to affect you even after you clicked it off, too.

Buy 2 of the charisma steins
# Oct 30 2002 at 10:10 AM Rating: Decent
I bought 2 of these steins, each is 25+ charisma and 10+ mana. I put one in each slot - primary and secondary when I sell or buy. When I sell to vendors I now get about 1 pp more on an item that used to sell for 4 pp and it now sells for 5 pp. Each stein costs about 40 pp. When I buy spells I buy them for less because my charisma is now 50+ better.

This place is destroying GFay's market environment. Today (in gfay), I saw about 20 auctions in the time I was there, there is almost no lag at the bank anymore and I see very few high lvls hanging around it anymore. I log into The Bazaar and the /who took up the whole chat window, don't think it even finished without some of it being deleted. Now, don't get me wrong, I like the idea of the Bazaar, but it is making usually rare items worth less. One that comes to mind is Silver Chitin Handwraps selling for 3.5kp, other players see lower prices on an item they are selling and lower their price to compete (Actual quote from Bazaar " Folanin auctions, 'WTS Silver Chitin Hand Wraps 3500pp ! at least buy them to resell them for a lot more!' ")
RE: Killing GFay
# Aug 05 2002 at 1:22 PM Rating: Decent
I fail to see how this is a bad thing. Isn't it more condusive to the overall fun of the game for people to be better equipped, as opposed to being worried about being able to sell off rare items for more? More affordable upper-end gear=more effective raid parties, and more effective raid parties=more upper end gear being available on the market. The bazaar keeps the greedy folks from gouging prices and taking advantage of less experienced players who don't know as much about the market. Now, the Bazaar may be destroying the Gfay market (or EC on my server), but you have to destroy to rebuild, and the Bazaar is a faster, easier (ok, if you have a decent computer that doesnt lag as much) marketplace that embodies capitalism at its best. Instead of griping about not being able to overcharge for gear, just sell it for a fair price and go enjoy the game.

that's not what he asked...

Buy trader satchel at the merchant between the 2 banks (the first at right when you enter the building) it cost around 1-2pp depending your charisma

put the stuff you want to sell in these satchel (25.0wt each!!!) type /trader, you ll have a screen with each item in your trader satchels, set prices for them, then, hit begin trader while you are in the shop line all around bazaar, wait a player to come buy your stuff, that's all

Find out which of the Amondson brohers in the stable handles what color horse. Hail him and give your bridle to him. He will give you a bag of platinum pieces which you in turn sell to a vendor. There is no quest chat or purchase window - just give the correct guy the bridle and you should be gtg.

anyone know the speeds of the 2 mid horses?

Rope = Jboots (just a tad faster)
Leather = ??
Silk = ??
Chain = Spirit of Cheetah (just a tad slower)
RE: still wander
# Oct 28 2002 at 7:45 AM Rating: Excellent
Ok, here are the speeds of the Horses...

Rope Bridle = 25% Movement Rate Increase (8000-13000PP)

Leather Bridle = 50% Movement Rate Increase (27000-41000PP)

Silken Bridle = 60% Movement Rate Increase (60000-85000PP)

Chain Bridle = 70% Movement Rate Increase (95000-136000PP)

Ornate Chain Bridle = 85% Movement Rate Increase (Only dropped off high level NPCs in Luclin)

A note on prices, the most expensive price represents a 40 charisma while the lowest price represents a 110 charisma. 110 charisma is the best you can have for the horse merchants, anything higher doesn’t lower the prices further. You can see how getting a high level charisma buff would be good when buying a horse though.

Advantages

-Sitting on horseback allows casters/hybrids to meditate without incurring the agro you gain from sitting down.
-You can run from outdoor fights a lot easier. Faster horses naturally mean easier fights to flee from.
-You move at the same speed on horseback regardless of how encumbered you become.
-Horses can be used at level 1.
-When riding a horse you get an innate Safefall skill of 150.

Disadvantages

-Meleeing is a lot harder on horseback than not on horseback. Frequently, you get the message 'your target is too far away' or 'you can't see your target'. Looting from horseback can also be problematic as you click on your mount instead of the corpse.
- Currently if you cast the wrong spell during a fight, you can't interrupt it by ducking.
Most, if not all illusions, don't stack while you're on horseback.
-For kiting classes, kiting is not very easy as horses require a 1 to 4 seconds to get going and 1 to 4 seconds to fully stop for spell casting purposes.
-Horses are expensive to obtain and also No-Drop. This means you can’t sell it to other players later, though there is an NPC in The Bazaar that allows you to sell your horse for roughly 60% of what you paid for it should you want a better horse later.
-Horses require food and water from your rations to upkeep.
-Horses have a casting time to summon. Unlike Journeyman Boots you cannot simply click them and be instantly on a horse. The only exception to this is the Paladin and Shadowknight horses obtained via alternate advancement which are instant use.
-Beggars who see you on horseback assume you can give them high-level gear and that you're rich.

Summary

Overall, horses are the most beneficial to casting classes, both wisdom and intelligence casters. In high-end raids where a lot of casters need to med during fights, it’s beneficial as you don’t gain the agro from sitting down while not on horseback. However, interrupting spells you mistakenly cast or don’t want to cast can be annoying, especially if you’re a cleric casting Complete Heal.

For Melee classes, horses are pretty much a very expensive luxury aimed at getting you from point A to point B. Meleeing on horseback is especially difficult because the mobs tend to be too far away or you can’t see them, even though they can still pound on you.

For Hybrids, horses tend to be in the same boat as melee classes, though if they are fixed so that you can melee well on horseback, it might be a little more useful in gaining mana back faster. Still, Paladins and Shadow Knights get a special AA skill that summons a horse for them that is as good as the Ornate Chain Bridle horses, so patience might be better than putting out a minimum of 8,400pp for a horse. Out of all the hybrids, Beastlords would gain the most benefit as they tend to be the most mana-dependant hybrid class out of all the hybrid classes.

Lastly, Bards are the least likely to ever need a horse. They have Selo’s and horses are kiting-unfriendly, so Bards would be better off with their Selo’s over a horse in my opinion.

The Rope Bridle doesn't seem as fast as JBoots! Are you sure? It seems rather Slow. Maybe I'm just have trouble with lag cause of the graphics. Any Ideas? I'll keep it for a little while! Can we real sell the bridle back to the vendors?

Pallys and SKs can earn thier horses through AA points. The attribute becomes available at 59 - but it takes ALOT of AA points to acquire it.
