Some major bugs
# Jan 30 2002 at 8:01 PM Rating: Decent
I myself have been hunting in this zone for about 3 days now...some bugs that could get you and ur group in trouble are:

1. they can gate w/o casting the spell.
This has happened to me and a monk that were camping the named stuff by temple..got a named snake low hps and it gated instantly aggroing everythin in the way from our camp to its bind spot.

2. mobs get stuck in tunnel to Mons Letalis.
This can be a big nuesance considering u will get wupped if ur just zoning in and there are more then 2 there. They seem to go to deep into tunnel and lose their pathing so they just stand at zone till a gm clears it for ya. they will stand there forever untill they are cleared.

Instead of waiting for a GM to clear tunnels which can take awhile I have seen a couple of
ways to clear it. A necro with HS and a CoS/any instant cast invis and SoE or a cleric with DA and a few invis potions and SoE can zone into the tunnel (Mons and SD both have the same issues) DA or HS run the mobs out of the tunnel, then invis and they will lose interest in you. Most of the mobs here do not see through invis in my experience so you can zone in invis as well and then aggro them by standing in aggro range after you zone in. Sometimes one of them will see through invis ( Pretty sure the Tormented Iksar Slave does) and that one will be one of the mobs in the tunnel so just in case for necros make sure you have one of you skins up to absorb some of the damage you will take on zone in and as many HP buffs as possible. Clerics same thing max HP buffs. Run to opposite zone line and zone out or gate if you are bound nearby and the mobs will go back to where they belong.

I have seen a level 53 necro do this with 10 or so mobs in the tunnel to SD including a see through invis one and live. He had a symbol and one of his damage skins, an SoE and CoS.

I am sure there are other classes that get a combination of these skills that could do this as well like Bards who could prolly purely outrun them and get from one zone line to another and ditch them somewhere in the middle.

Feign Death does not seem to work well in this zone since the mobs tend to grief camp you for what seems like forever. So good for clearing tunnel but unless the monk is going to stay down for a long long time not the optimal way to clear.

If a mob is aggro'd on you, casting invis WILL not lose that aggro.

Been trying to DOT root some of the mobs here and it takes me a lotta dots (been killing Golums, undeads, and stalkers)

splurt, ignite blood, cascading, BoD and then maybe deflux two or three times or if it is undead then a couple of Banish Undead or whatever it is called. (sometimes I add a disease spell to stop regrowth though the skalters are totally resistant to it from what I can see)

Seem like a lotta HPs to me. And my exp is not moving to fast. Not got this zone figured out yet.

Doesnt seem like they have much HP to me. heres what i do: pull with splurt, send buffed rogue pet, dooming darkness, fear, BoD, Ebolt (except on shissars which i just deflux 2x) and sit. Usually mob dies before BoD even wears off

Ok, I understand this zone *requires* EB whether as cast spell or armor item (guess it's time to go hunt down a fishbone earrings as I have not found a fish scale seller yet on the moon - either that or stock up like mad!).

Question:
Do any of the creatures in this zone dispell you, and if so, is it like the eyeballs in Fear (wipes out top 4 spells at a pop), or single dispell, or at all? I enjoy hunting Kedge til we reach that lovely mob who likes to dispell EB. :)

Have not been dispeled to date. Only seen one caster mob and it was named and rare, not sure on type since we fear kited him. There are several with procs, but most are DD with maybe a stun effect.
debuff

I had 3 boulderlings cast some kind of dot on me that debuffed my Howler form, though that is the only buff I have up while hunting here

boulderlings use a snare type spell , this is likley what got rid of your form of the howler.

Not 30 minutes after I write a nice post on The Grey, Verant takes the nerf stick and gives it a huge whack. This from CastersRealm:

The Grey zone in Luclin was patched live a short while ago.
Many mobs in there have had their resists significantly increased. Players are also reporting an increase in hitpoints on many monsters, and the addition of a new mob which is immune to Magic based spells. This can only have been done in response to the large numbers of AE groups which had been set up in the zone for fast exp gain.

Agro range is not that large here. Pull with spells or arrows or something and you can get single pulls almost exclusively.

MOST people fight near zone borders (such as scarlet desert or mons) but this is a mistake unless you are grouping. Why? Because there is no point putting up with gimp trains all the time. Fear kiting is good along the walls though, very much like skyfire. If your not pulling to the walls I would recommend killing them where they stand, pet classes can solo them very well. Just watch out for the worms that spawn when you walk over them in the sand. The worms do not see invis though.

I personally think hunting is much better roaming the zone from camp to camp (very long respawn time here as the zone is HUGE) then staying near the zone outs. It's less boring to, since you have a slight chance to kill named. The only exception to this would be the sun revenants.

Oh, the sun revenants.

Imagine if you will, a level 55 skeleton that is NOT classified as undead that has a static spawn point.

Now imagine 5 or 6 of them having the same area of a spawn point, conveniantly located far away from other pathing of wanderers.

Also imagine that these sun revenants respawn VERY quickly.

Lets not forget to imagine that a mob this high would normally summon, but these do not.

Bonus! It's all true! For a necromancer who wants to root dot, this is ideal. Exp might be better fighting multiples of the lower level mobs, but if don't want to be constantly killing, these are great. They die to 2 rounds of epic darkness, splurt, and pyrocour. Don't try using your pets on them, there to high level to be feared, and they will eat through your pet in even less time then it takes for them to eat through you. The only loot I have seen personally is a bone handled scimitar, but friends have scored some nice items so far.

We had a sun revenant down to under half a bubble, he gated away and
SUMMONED our puller. So much for 'these don't summon'. Alondin

I immagine that at lvl 60 you can more easily pull singles.. I (54 wizard and the only one in the group with snare) was pulling for my group, using my Staff of Temperate Flux (right click cold/fire debuff) to pull. The agro range of stuff is fairly big, so watch out...

Been spending some time in the Grey, soloing the low level snakes (stalkers) and the timeless golems.

Like many of the higher level Luclin zones, there are an abundance of mobs and the aggro ranges are huge. I can't stress enough for people new to the zone that if you're not used to the aggro ranges yet and you don't want to pull multiples make sure that there is nothing anywhere near the monster you're pulling. I've seen some pretty huge trains heading to the zone.

Also be aware that there are traps in the zone to do some pretty high damage (at least to my Necromancer).

Not a lot of loot in the zone except on some of the named, but great XP.

Have EB already up or up FAST when you zone in. This is a vacuum zone.

Some mobs saw through invis, most did not. They hit fairly hard but did not have matching HP. LOTs of adds, watch for wanderers...

Decent exp, not much loot.
