Looking for Center stone
# Dec 11 2001 at 8:51 PM Rating: Default
There is a quest that requires a rare drop off of the rockhoppers. Called a center stone. Has anyone seen this drop yet?

Heres the scoop on the centerstone. Drops off of age old rockhopper and is a rare drop. Killing the age old also spawns the sambatas so if the hopper dont drop it you have to respawn the hoppers and wait for age old to spawn. Happy camping.

Friend and I (50 paladin and 51 druid, respectively) snuck into the cave system identified on the map as Rockhopper caves...except that the caves are full of Sambatas...Exploring with invis, we snuck all the way to a shaman holding an interesting blunt weapon. Uninvising and killing a few others in the area (was very tough fight with shaman and others, barely survived, pally had 1 bub of HP), we were happily surprised to find a Sambata War Staff on the shaman. 1hb, 8/18, druid usable, no drop. Can't remember other classes/races, but will get the stats up on Allakhazam's soon. Great looking and good stats for meleeing newbie dungeons.

Rockhopper Boss
# Dec 11 2001 at 10:03 AM Rating: Decent
Yes I witnessed this when the servers came up. The rockhopper boss was " An age old Rockhopper" he dropped a crappy 5ac 2str/stm bracer I think. Now there are those Red cave men guys in the cave. They are harder IMO. So far the rockhoppers have less life for quad kiteing.

Killed a Sambata Primitive and he dropped a Primitive Totem. Looks like the Holy statuette and like the rest magic, droppable and no stats

aye, we killed the boss Rockhopper guy last night on 12-16-01. He was an easy SoB, their was a 53 war, 51 cleric, 49 ranger, and a 49 SK. after killing the boss when the respawns started to happen they were no longer hoppers they were the cave men, we did not have time to stay and kill anymore as we had to log and our mission was compleat.

Rockhoppers despawn?
# Dec 11 2001 at 12:01 AM Rating: Excellent
Was soloing the rockhopper caves for a long time in the morning, came back in the evening and instead of Rockhoppers there was Sambatas. I did an /ooc asking and was told if you kill the rockhopper boss they despawn and the sambatas spawn in their place. If you then kill the Sambata boss they despawn and the rockhoppers respawn. Anyone have any more information on this?

The rockhoppers drop hides that are used in new tailoring recipes and the staic spawns of them was nice.

Anyone hunting Zelniaks that get those lumps of fat, please try this recipe for me:

1 lump of zelniak fat + 1 water = 1 zelniak oil

This is a new untested brewing recipe (12/10/01) and a quest item in Katta. If combine is made, please report the recipe as valid http://pub13.ezboard.com/feqtraderscornerfrm65 ( www.eqtraders.com)

Beware of the fungi shrooms that spawn to the left of the "dome" that leads to the NL zone... there were few greenies there, and I, a solo 45 paladin, cast a Stun on a blue.

Fungi shrooms can be level 43 Shadowknights; I learned....

"You write in the grip of agony. You have taken 431 points of damage."

Stuck it out to take a double shot of 101's and did the ol' Root-and-run-for-zone-screaming-like-a-little-girl thing...

Not a soloing place for us pallys.

# Dec 09 2001 at 12:36 AM Rating: Good
Actually after 40 the formula for HT changes. 431 would be for a 41 SK I belive.

These things are, however, VERY nasty. It seems that all the high levels running for Maiden's Eye (to or from) grab these and scream and run for the Nether zone and run right by me dumping them on all the people there who are not Hiding. I learned my lesson after I got murdered twice while someone trained these.

Normally I would be at a safe given the distance I was away from the zone dome, but the mobs in this zone seem to have a very large agro radius... as do many of the mobs in Luclin.

Yeah, I took 491 dmg when killing the lvl 43 ones, they nasty, but me(a 40 shadowknight), a 40 shammy, and 37 druid took them pretty easily.
Rockhoppers

I took a full group into the rockhopper caves.
The group was as follows
53 Warrior
54 Wizzy
52 Shamman
48 Cleric
48 Mage
50 Ranger
We fought for 4 hours at the deepest part of the cave. I got 3 blues of exp, as did the 54 Wizzy. The lvl 48's got almost 3 Orange of exp in that same time period. The loot is poor (skins and body parts). Found out the skins are used in Tailoring, and I will try to find out if the body parts are for the Gants Remains quest.
Excellent place to exp grind.
Note, we cleared our way down to the last room (big room with 2 spawn on one side, single spawn on opposite side). We cleared this room and setup camp here (on the side where the single mob pop'd). Excellent system for non-stop pulls - Clear the mobs out 1 at a time using aggro radius pull (warrior pulling). Dont walk into the room to far, or shoot an arrow as you will bring the whole room with you. This may not be a big deal and it wasnt to us when it happened, but you can chain pull the 2 rooms that connect from here and the main room and have non-stop pulling if you time your killing right. There is a very fast respawn time in this cave. At the upper end of the cave the mobs were light blue, deeper in they were all dark blue. Note in the bottom room there is a 3 spawn. The mob in the middle of the room is the PH for the Elder Rockhopper, the mob to your right as you face the room is the Ravaging (sp?), behind the rock is the 3rd mob. I know this seems lenghty but SoL just came out and Im trying to provide good information here, not the average teenage BS that you usually find.
Best of luck to you all.

Rock hoppers

Most rockhoppers were decent xp at 52, mostly blue, a few light blue. The regular rockhoppers just attack, now and then an Elder or a Ravenous spawned, and they had a spell : Rockhopper Spit, which blinded. My party all resisted from the ravenous, but several of us were blinded by the Elder.

Its called a Polished Steel Ulak, and it's also for Beastlord. 9/27 H2H +3AC, +3STR, +3WIS, +3svm, +25HP, +25mana wgt 1.1 and they are not lore. There is also a Heavy Ulak, which is 8/30something and stats are +1s. The Polished one drops quite often, got 7 of them in a full group in a few hours, and about 10 of the heavy ones.

umm 9 27 for a monk isnt that good.....
a CoT (cane of tranquil) is 11/25 and monk fighting baton is 8/20 ..even with the added stats 3str...its not worth losing the dmg/dly on either CoT or fighting baton
RE: Drops
# Dec 06 2001 at 11:21 PM Rating: Default
If you look at the weapon it probably also says BST can use it, and therefore the reason for the other stats.

Playing a beastlord myself, I have found they are closely related to the monk as well as the shaman classes and weapons in Luclin seem to be quite common for them. I have found a few weapons that even look like the Knuckle Dusters and use the Hand to Hand skill, but the stats are way less dmg/dly than any monk would use. Example 7/30 +1 FR/MR/CR +5 DEX.

So keep in mind that these new weapons may not be any good for a monk, they may be meant for a lesser damage dealing class such as the beastlord.

RE: Drops

look at it this way: at level 20 with H2H maxxed the dmg/delay of H2H monk is 8/36.. pretty much ANY of these new MNK/BST weapons allow you to use and raise your H2H skill with better ratios than you could achieve with just your fists.. throw an FBSS into the equation and you have monks doing better with H2H at earlier levels than ever before.. this just means that monks can do some decent damage at earlier levels with H2H and raise their H2H (necessity) at the same time, rather than switching out to Fighting Baton or KDs or whatever once they reach the skill cap..

i fought in here for a couple hours last night... most of the stuff is green at 57 but there are a few blues and a few lt blues. Theres a gypsy type camp w/some npcs and some chain patterns on vendors there.. most were indiff/aimably to me. theres a rockhopper cave w/9 or so spawns and they are 39-42ish (lt and full blue at 57) max hit for 103 or so but have very large aggro radius. I had a hard time killing them all before respawn and got close to a blue bubble exp.. not as good as soloing in chardok but i was looking for named's and rare drops. got lots of different types of pelts from ruined to perfect, and some torn limbs (arm and leg) and a crushed skull.. quest items maybe or just flavor. hoppers dropped meat which was food.

Lots of annoying little mushroom guys that aggro you.. they drop at least 4 different no drop mushrooms, and 1 type that isnt no drop. the no drop ones i got included 'a mushroom', 'a spotted mushroom', 'a moss covered mushroom' and i forget what else.. the tradeable one was called 'fungus covered mushroom'.

theres wolves that are 35-38ish that wander around and were threatening to me. Also 3 times i triggered a trap that spawned a 'blood starved wolf' about the same level range as the wolves.. i didnt get any drops off of these.

Zelniaks- large and regular.. these were indiff and look kinda like lions.. these dropped 2 kinds of food.. lumps of zelniak fat and zelniak meat.
one large might have been lt blue but mostly lower than that.

A few savage type creatures that were apprehensive to me ( they are same model as the guys in Maiden's eye but those are 48-56+ and are all kos ) there was scouts and shaman and what not.. dropped some crappy weapons and were very green. theres a few zones here.. one to netherbain lair and one to maidens eye and one to greig's end.. i went in greigs end but it looked very buggy (doors that didnt fit and kept opening in the middle of the wall..) and there was a 55+ corpse at the zone or two so i asked them how bad it was and left. maiden's eye looks like an ok exp zone for 50+ though

No. As far as I can tell, torn limbs and crushed skulls are just here for flavor.
