The Dawnshroud Peaks are a set of low mountains on the light side of Luclin. Blessed with both sunlight and an ample water supply, the mountains have turned into a very fertile area, supporting a wide array of wildlife.

Excellent zone for exp
# Dec 30 2001 at 3:12 AM Rating: Excellent
This is an excellent zone for experience starting at 30 and going all the way up to 50. I moved up here from OT (man I hate that zone) two days ago at 30 and am now half way through 35.

Starting at 30 the lightcrawlers and zelniaks around the Sanctus Seru zone are great exp. These will take you up to about 34 quick at which point they start to green out.

At 35 I've moved over to the tribesmen camp and am again earning excellent exp. These should be good up to the low 40's or so at which time you can try youe luck with the rockhoppers.

The rockhoppers are mostly all still dark blue to a 55 so they could concievably take you all the way to the mid 50's.

All in all an excellent zone. The only problem I have is finding groups..mainly healers for my groups. All of you that live in OT 30-40 need to give this zone (and a few other Luclin zones) a try.

As a cleric, I have found Luclin to be rather a dangerous place to travel. Not insomuch as it is dangerous in and of itself, but because I get terrible lag spikes there. I have an excellent computer with well above the recommended specs for luclin, and I'm on dsl with an ethernet card. Nevertheless, I tend to travel as if I'm in sludge half the time, and run perfectly the second half of the time. Not to belabor the point, but the reason I'm sticking with Kunark is because I don't wanna have to res my party simply because of LAG..

... um, yes, I cast SHeal 4 minutes ago... whaddaya mean it didn't land till now?...

I have been in-zone from 33-43. <need to fix my sig sometime>. From rumors, I here I can solo here until at least 45. You can start soloing here in the upper 20s.

Glory about this place is it is just like being a noob again. You walk out of Sanctus Seru and voila! Mobs form blue to red are walking around in front of you. Use a bow to pull one to the Sanctus Seru tunnel by the guards (guards won't attack or rescue you...so watch out). I literally did this from 33-39. So, a pally who is 28 or so could sit here from 28-39...walk about 10 seconds north and pull Zelniaks and mushrooms til 40. Then walk over to the NL zone line and solo Large Zelniaks, Zelniaks and wolves from 40 until at least 44. May need to solo stonegrabbers n of the NL for XP above 44.

To solve the lag spikes turn your 3D Sky setting under your Options -> Display to OFF. Solved 80% of the lag problem for me. Still working on the other 20% but I suspect I need to reduct the clip plane a bit. Dawnshroud is a real graphics intensive zone. I had similar trouble with Warsliks Woods and had to do this to solve it.

Couldn't agree more - one of the few zones in the game that are completely safe to solo in for a 30-35 chanter fear kiting - just do it with DOTs and nukes and you don't aggro other mobs. One at a time - its great.

One word of warning - watch out for the wolves - they hurt.

I spent 3 or 4 hours in here this weekend, 43 warior with a cleric and druid guildmates. Started with the large zelniaks and wolves at Netherb. ent. Exp was ok but Zelnak meat and tattered wolf pelts and 1 no drop gem were the only lot. We moved to the tribe camp near ent. to Maidens and got some of the weapons but no coin. I looted 1 iron ulak hand to hand weap. I was offered 1 copper for it by vendor. What if anything drops coin up here?
Replacing the Tribe with Rockhoppers
# Dec 16 2001 at 2:19 PM Rating: Excellent
If you've hunted this zone, you have surely taken delight in massacring the Rockhoppers at the Rockhopper Caves. Unfortunately, from time to time, the Rockhoppers are replaced by the Tribe. The Tribe men, while dropping good loot, are not very much fun to hunt. The biggest trains I have EVER seen have come from hunting the Tribe. In order to get the Tribe to go away and get the Rockhoppers to respawn, you must kill the Tribal leader.

The way to do that is as follows: Invis or Camo your entire party (we were high 40's and low 50's... this approach requires a druid and a ranger to be in the party) and make your way deep into the caves. Eventually you come to a cave with two exits... the one directly across from where you enter leads to the Naturalist (you don't want this one), the exit to your right leads to the Tribal Leader. There is a clear spot along the wall just opposite the entrance to the Tribal Leader's cave. Set up there... you're going to pull him to that spot. Harmonize everything in the cave you are pulling to, then harmonize everything in the Tribal Leader's cave. Now pull the Tribal Leader (you will get adds, despite the harmony). Focus all efforts on killing the Tribal Leader (ignore the adds). When the Leader dies all Tribe members instantly evaporate. The Leader dropped a decent 1hb hammer (sorry can't remember the stats) that our Ranger, Jenarre, now uses. After the Tribe members evaporate, the Rockhoppers start respawning. Make sure to announce your feat to the zone so that all those people complaining about the lack of Rockhoppers know who to thank!

Kudos to Mellen for organizing the attack! Jenarre, Nindorf, Mellen, Kasaran, and I were really thrilled about being able to pull this off on Drinal. Granted it wasn't an uber feat, but we were thrilled to be able to figure out how to do it with only the clue that you had to kill one of the named Tribesmen to get it done.
Hunting / Loot
# Dec 13 2001 at 3:36 PM Rating: Default
I have been hunting a little in this zone for some loot/minor exp, but more to get the feel of the zone for my lower level characters. Most of the loot I have found here is junk (meat, etc) but on the Tribal Men, I have gotten some pretty decent loot. Keep your eyes open for Tribal Lookouts, Warriors, and Gatherers. They cannot see invis, and I have been running up to them and checking their hands for weps. I got a Polished Steel Ulak, its a Hand to Hand skilled wep for Beastlords and Monks. Basicly, you increase the damage you do with your hand to hand combat skill. It had some minor resists and wis associated with it as well. I also got a few heavy iron Ulaks, they are the same wep with a higher delay, lower damage and lower stats, but still a great wep to use for your low level Beastlords, and they look kewl! I also got a spear that looked like a rapier (dunno what that was about) with some fairly decent delay/damage on it. So far, those Tribe Men are the only things I have found to drop loot. I was getting light blue kills at 55, so I estimate them to be around 43 or so.

Happy Hunting!

Yes i have been picking off the Large Zelniaks by the domed entry zone to Netherbian - blue to a lvl 40 Druid. I also saw another Zelniak called An Ancient Zelniak but he resisted everything i threw at him and i had to dive screaming for zone. Dark blue too, but would not snare or root.

Beware the Lightcrawlers tho' they will aggro anyone and they blind.

Just killed an Ancient one by nuking it - it dropped An Ancient Fossil <magic/Lore>. THis one snared but would not root. It also aggroed, unlike the other Zelniaks.

From what I have seen from running around this zone is that it is a great place to hunt for 30 to 45 plus. You have four zones that go into this place. For the past two days I have been hunting Zelniaks for a quest in Seru and gaining XP. For a Ranger this zone is great for Fear kiting. The only things that aggro you are Fungi Shrooms and Lightcrawlers. They both con Light blue to green to me at 39.

Well enjoy all and wow I got the first post on a board this is cool
