I support that one, gained at least 7 levels here from 29 to 36 as a Paladin with a group. This was about a day and a half time. Good xp zone. This was my extension to PC.

Yeah, it's certainly a great zone for melee twinks, particularly with Temperance: my Ranger alt has about 5k worth of gear and with the double XP veteran AA was getting a level every 20-40 minutes from 25 to 43. Casters might have more of a problem, but with the Clarity potions to assist mana regen I'd guess they'd do OK.

Even without much twinking a fast-pulling group should manage about the same. Biggest problem is running out of mobs to kill if there are many people in the zone.

Either way, it's my default zone for alts from 25-45 if I can't think of anywhere better or more interesting.

Ok, I take that back. It appears that after the last patch the mobs in the zone are now doing about 50% more damage and resisting spells a lot more...

Killed a Tribal Sambata Advisor in the back of the Sambata cave in the Northeast corner of zone. Was dark blue to 65. Feared, nuked and rooted. Hit for about 155 max. Trueshot + Weapon shield + fearless disc + nukes = the win.

Dropped a heavy ulak. Yeah, that's what I said.

my experience
# Aug 07 2004 at 2:12 PM Rating: Decent
Ive spent a lot of time in this zone, and ill share a little bit of my experience with you all...

Tribals are only good if your puller is good, when i was about 35 we had a monk chain pull for us, he was an uber twink but that was some awesome experience.

Rockhoppers, there decent exp for any soloing class at roughly 50-55... I dont know about on other servers, mine being morden rasp, but you can sell the flawless hides for about 500-600pp, and the superb for about 200pp, so you can make a lot of money here....

Dont know if this would help anyone...
# May 14 2004 at 3:29 PM Rating: Default
Just incase anyone was wondering, wolfs, and the Zelnaiks are aminable to Rangers, druids, BSTs, and im not sure about shammies though. (Oh, and Zels are indifferent, actually) Plus, unlike the Marus version, the grabbers are not social, from what i know. Oh, and, hehe, if your a chanter, fighting wandering mobs near the pack of shrooms near the zoneline, try charming a shroom to fight along with ur tank... Those Zels can hit pretty hard (specially when they're red, yes! I said red!) so when ur tank gets tired, let the shrrom tank for you. :) (Go Mushie GO!)
Zelniak Hunting
# Feb 25 2004 at 9:26 PM Rating: Decent
I'm a level 27 ranger, with a Blessed Faydark Thunderbolt, (http://www.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=12110) as my bow- I'm kiting the zelniak set of things at about 6 an hour solo, w/o any spells except for snare, and making really good exp..... The spot I hunt is a little bit out form the NL ent, just go straight out from it and start pulling- Thi only works fro rangers tho- the wolves eat everyone else =)

EDIT- This might be in part due to my gear- my profile is here:

RE: Zelniak Hunting
# Jun 23 2005 at 11:14 AM Rating: Default
Even though this post is old........There is NO WAY a level 27 Ranger should have a BFT bow. This is still an uber bow (even after DoN expansion) and well beyond his means. His profile attachment is also in indication/bag that he is seriously twinked.

Any twink can beat up MOBs they should not be able to. I'm not against twinking. If you want to spend $12-$15/mth and cheat at this game, that's your choice. Your just missing part of the game experience.

Sambata Tribal Leader Garn
# Jan 24 2004 at 7:17 PM Rating: Good
The Sambata Tribal Keeper is the Place Holder for the Sambata Tribal Leader Garn (Light Blue to a level 65 and easy solo mob). All Sambatas in the rockhopper cave despawn upon his death and it allows the rockhoppers to respawn. I killed him and he dropped the 9/27 No Drop Sambata Tribal Warhammer.
Rockhoppers in Scarlet too
# Jan 14 2004 at 2:20 AM Rating: Decent
Ok, I just killed 3 of the rare spawn rockhoppers in Scarlet Desert at this loc p201.n19.n36. They all spawned in same spot, one after the other. They all dropped a piece of the twilight armor quest. One was fierce, one raging, and the other was powerful. All the pieces they dropped were already listed on their bios here at alla. Just a "head's up" to those hunting that uber loot ...
Tribal Gatherers Harder Than Usual
# Dec 31 2003 at 6:36 PM Rating: Decent
Was just out at Greiggs End last night. Normally go out there to solo Tribal Gatherers with my Wizard (34). It's slow careful work but what the hell. Thing is, last night INSTILLS just weren't working on those suckers. What's worse, their ROOT was working like crazy on me. Not to mention they seem to be hitting harder than usual. Anyone else notice an increase in Tribal Gatherer difficulty?

Spawns at loc 822, -1080. Of the three stonegrabbers here, this is the southern one.
Placeholder is 'a stonegrabber’ - and can also spawn as A Light Stonegrabber.
There are 8 total stonegrabbers in zone, each on a 13 minute respawn time.
Xp is so Ezzle
# Dec 05 2003 at 4:52 PM Rating: Default
Xp is so Ezzle outside Neth,
Check it, if you are not scared of wolfs, then kill here. Large Zelniaks are the ABSOLUTE EASIEST thing I have found to kill that are Dark Blue to me(a level 42 War who has to solo alot, because I play in the AM). So if stuff is turning Light Blue, and maybe if you are soloing, BECAUSE TRIBALS SUCK for XP and they hit too hard. They are only good if your an Acrylia *****. Its like an obvious secret to kill large Zelniaks, no one kills em cause newbs to the zone are killing reg zels and dieng cause they wont zone from wolfs. Good Luck

various places
# Nov 15 2003 at 3:00 AM Rating: Good
most folks on my server hunt outside the netherbian lair entrance, okay spot, its somewhat safe to get to, but probably the worst spot in dsp. why? wolves, tons of them, msot of the pulls arent very good, the exp sucks and loot is even worse. best spots:

outside sanctus seru, this is good for getting lightcrawler parts to make lightcrawler armour, which sells nice. dont try these unless you are a pet class or can kite with your eyes closeed (because their blind will have you running around with your eyes closed), bards probably can pull it off if they can orient themselves to an open area until blindness wears off, such as to the right of the pool. their blind spell is also a DOT.

outside of griegs end, best spot to get acrylia. theres not many adds, most of the tribals go right past the stairs, if you overpull then run up the stairs as fast as you can becasue the tribals will run the other way, i guess its a LOS bug or something, but it will give you time to zone before it gets nasty. you can easily get tons of acrylia as well as PSUs and lots of vender trash to sell, nice loot.

house of shrooms, between sanctus seru and griegs end. this house is mad exp, even at 37 i get between 1 and 2 exp, sometimes less than 1, but unlike most shrooms these are still all dark blue. tribals sometimes walk by too. they dont hit too hard for the most part, easier than tribals, less HP, with a DS they drop fast. they drop shrooms which sell for about 3P each. you can get 80-100P in one visit here which isnt bad for a nice exp grind. i was owning this house at level 33, did tribals for a few levels, now i return simply because tribals are just too much work and mana.

so for loot do tribals, for exp do shrooms, for shorties that can wear plate (and rogues, why no halfling ranger?), and can stand the blind spell, go for lightcrawlers (great armour to twink in since its not hard to get and nice stats).

theres my overview of the zone. other places of interest are the rockhopper caves, but im not touching those until later, so dig through here on info on them. i did this zone from 33 to 37 and intend to finish 38 and get a death buffer for 39 here. good zone.

Also, for solo XP you can do much of the 30s on the Zelniaks near the shroom house: they're totally non-social, so provided you haven't trashed Tribal faction you're safe except for the very occasional wolf who wanders too close. My Monk has done most of the 30s killing those solo, with some grouping on the Tribals when I felt like a break.

Incidentally, you can stay in the zone until 52 if you really want to drag out the XP, at that level most of the Stonegrabbers and Hoppers which were dark blue will go light blue: my Necro finished off 51 here on the Stonegrabbers.
