The Stonebrunt Mountains is a very spiritual place, home of the Kejekan people, who rule over the land atop Mount Klaw in their small fortress of Kejek. Recently Heretics from Paineel and Kobolds from the Warrens have found out how to get into the area and have started causing trouble here for the kejekans.

This zone is available during Velious on progression servers.

Would be nice to hear about the zone a little when I come here, to learn a little about it. Instead every post is about the loot code, how to get around it, or just plain whining about it.

The 'a spirit' is the incarnation of a shadowknight. He gives a quest and is allied with the heretics.

Ahh I think the loot code thing is cool, what I dont like is the fact that a green will still attack even when u dont attack it.I think if a creature is going to attack you ,and some greens can kill you even while with you trying, that you should have a right to the loot they drop.I have been in the Oasis in a grp killing spectres and had GREEN mummies attack me or my other friends,to make it fair make it where the greens dont drop loot if attacked first, otherwise if they attack first then by ALL means u deserve the rare drops too.Everyone can say what they want but this is a fact that you cant avoid.

Anti Farming ?
Hmmm...
I started playin EQ like 6 months after launch.
Choosed the server where i saw the most players online.
Never looked into any sites etc crap.
And my english skills werent the best either.
I did never ask for a single platinum or help from any1. Played my own adventure and wore almost full Bronze armor on my warrior at the age of 30.
Now lots of days has gone by , and LOTs of EQ hours. Seen almost the whole show, from different angles too.
What irritates me a bit is this "Anti Farming" discussion. It points out the fact where Verant really listenin these crappy sites, listenin whiners, many of em doesnt even own the whole game, just whine here.
Anti Farming??
The level i play now, have to assure you, that any kind of lowbie zone hunting, would be totally a waste of time for me. In EQ platinum / Gear / Phat loot sense, it would be just plain stupid to "farm" some lame zone like Lower Guk, or anything.
The so called "farming" iwe seen, well in most of the cases its just some old "battle horse" having a vacation from guild work and relaxin in some old zone..lil bit of nostalgia.
And at LEAST as many times i really seen some higher lvls farming a spot just to tease the zone. Much more iwe seen totally idiotic spammin from the "noob army".
Farming...Honestly i think i could have bought like THOUSANDS of FBSS´s during my EQ days...
Looked the loots in this new zone, would prolly just destroy them.
A tip to you who want to get the phat and get in the same levels with us older players..
Stop yappin about the loot here, forget the loot when you there in EQ, just XP and help your fellow. What comes around goes around.

The Stonies: Day One
# Sep 04 2001 at 1:12 AM Rating: Good
I have been playing stonebrunt for about a week now.. i went from 21 to 24 in like 2 days. I was pleased to say the least.

The first time i was there, i tried to find a group.. i was 21, and found one at the west end of the map. It was a large kobold camp where the pops are so close there is barely if any downtime.. What i soon found out is if you could get a n00b there, you could have him dressed in blue whicker immediately. just about all drops are worth a few good gold, and most weapons are worth plat. They told me there was no city nearby, and that it was dangerous as a 21 to try to get out to there.. But after lootingso much, we decided we had better try to get there. (PS i rarely loot now, its a shame.. i only loot bamboo bokens worth 6 or so plat on the Prex server)

So we leave the camp, and find that all other camps are... well camped. Then we run into a red. RUN RUN RUN.. i am an sk so i decided to tank it while everyone made a break for it.. but this other barb shammy decided to attack it.. and then they all came back, and we owned a red mob. But during the celebration one of my group members runs after a bunny.. the others took 5.. i ran after the member to bonk her for being dumb and staying, when i hear RUN PANDA RUN! A mature panda owned this one guy, then another, and one gated, and another died and i ran to one to try to help, but he was dead, then the other member that ran after that bunnie aggroed a red tiger, and died, and it was just me. I escaped TPW (total party wipeout). I even drug a body to the zone, and went back for another..

So in essense, if you play smart the zone is safe. But sometimes you go up a hill, and the Mature Panda aggroes. If your sow runs out like mine did on an ensuing venture, and youre only lvl 24, you might as well try to hug it cause you wont be doing much else but dying.
Well now

By that example, this loot code merely perpetuates farming. If someone is too tough to get an item they want, they'll have to wait for someone else to come along, kill the creature and sell them the loot. While the person snagging the kill may get exp, a farmer is still going to sit and camp a MOB they know is going to drop something important to someone when the person who needs it won't get the drop anyway.
Couple MOBs I've seen that aren't on the list...
# Sep 03 2001 at 3:52 PM Rating: Default
A Highland Graniteback (Blue to 35)
A Mautre Panda - (High Blue to 35) - drops panda claws
A Highland Tiger/ Tigress - (Low to Mid Blue to 35)
An Elder Panda - (From Blue to Yellow to 35)
A Young Panda - (Mid Blue to 35)
An Emerald Adder - (Green to 35) snake
A spirit - (Green to 35) looked like a red wisp

There were a few more that I can't remember off the top of my head.
Okay Folks

I think a lot of you have good points and stupid ones too.

First of all, the only stuff that does not fall utilizing the Traivial loot code, is rare item drops. Everything else drops AS USUAL.

Quit complaining about not getting rare loot drops. There are many other ways to obtain the stuff. As was seen before: Travel with a party and offer Uber Buffs in exchange for the drop. Ubertwink 1 char just under level range and kill the Mob yourself. BUY IT.

There are only 2 zones I know of, with Trivial Loot code. Warrens and StoneBrunt. Take an Uber Level 30 Character in and Blast the heck out of both zones for all the items you could want to give to any other of you charactera and quit whining. Trivial Loot Code sucks, but I support it since there are so many ways around it.

It is untrue that it's the rare drops that are blocked. Any item that is tagged as magic or nodrop is prevented from dropping by the trivial loot code, and that includes a lot of common drops from the mobs, most pointedly quest items. Some of the quests require items from a wide range of mobs, and it's ridiculous to have some of those drops blocked by the trivial loot code.

Verant's response that the player should start the quest when in their teens and finish it in their 40s is just absurd. This is only practical on a hypertwink that's only going to be a week from creation until it hits the 40s. In fact, the game seems to be weighted more and more to supporting the massively twinked player, and leaving the casual player out in the cold. A smart twinked player can have a lot of fun with their "new" characters, because they already know how to play, but a casual player that's twinked up finds themself totally lost and has to be hand-held throughout the game for the rest of their existence.

You cannot buy the nodrop items, and they are all blocked by the trivial loot code.

And while there are only two zones right now with the trivial loot code, there's a good chance that the entire SoL expansion will have the trivial loot code. If that's the case, I sure won't buy it.

In Warrens, one of the items blocked by the trivial loot code is the molars from the kobolds. These are useful quest items for faction building. However, since you can't loot them if you are too high, you get to slaughter a lot more kobolds instead to get that faction movement. Smart higher level players will loop around the zone only killing the named kobolds (and causing the destruction of most of the rare drops) because faction movement in the game is much faster on named mobs than on unnamed ones.

I wanted some bamboo armor for my iksar warrior (don't ask why, drunken stupor perhaps). So with my too high chanter I asked a group if I could sit with them and CC/Buff their group in exchange for a set. Got most of it and they kept the repeat drops, everybody considered it a fair trade.

And I don't know about the Kjakens attacking me in my dark elf form, but I am KOS in my air elemental illuson.

Anyone mention the skins quest yet? It's started in the Wizzie guild in Erudin, second floor. One of the guys there wants certain titan skins and an acient snake skin or something...
#Anonymous, Posted: Sep 02 2001 at 2:18 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I have read alot of the comments on this page and no one has thought about what if your camping a npc that has the loot code and your with in the level to loot but after awhile fighting him/her your gaining EXP/level and never get that rare gear because now that dame loot rule takes affect so now you got to create a new character or lose a level just to try and get that rare loot. This is a game that people play and have fun with Verant dont have stupid rule's cause some people are whiners and dont like it when higher characters are camping spots but i dont agree with people KSing from other people.

I think the rule sux because if some one wwants it bad enuf the will. You could have a lower lvl char kill it for you. it is really stupid
RE: Loot Rule SUX
# Sep 05 2001 at 10:25 AM Rating: Default
I think that's the point. Everyone knows there are ways around this Trivial Loot Code (which I applaud and support 100%)...the point isn't to make it foolproof, the point is to make it as annoying as possible to the higher lvls so that they don't actually bother doing any real "farming".

Geez leave the lower level weps and armors to the levels they were designed for.

does this place have an exp bonus like loio?
RE: exp bonus?
# Sep 05 2001 at 1:58 AM Rating: Decent
Loio might of had an exp bonus but now it's not really a newbie zone, the newbie zone is in the Field of Bone now. I don't know if this is a new development or not, but there's def no exp bonus in loio.
#Anonymous, Posted: Sep 02 2001 at 2:42 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) ummmmm dumbass. Loio doesn't have exp bonus. This is an outside zone. Exp bonus's are reserved for dungeons, (yes there are dungeons considered outside) But not whole zone you moron!
RE: exp bonus?
# Sep 02 2001 at 5:59 AM Rating: Default
Ummmmmm, last I knew all kunark zones had an exp bonus. So ill omen would in fact have that bonus. Don't be so quick to jump down people's throats for asking a question. If you can't answer a question without name calling you shouldn't be answering at all.
RE: exp bonus?
# Sep 03 2001 at 4:39 PM Rating: Default
LOIO used to have a exp bonus since it was considered a "newbie" zone (young iksars can hunt right outside the gate there)...so it did have an exp bonus (like other newbie zones). I've heard that's been changed though (this site doesn't list a bonus) - that's what I've heard but who knows...

However, I agree the 2nd person shouldn't talk when he obviously doesn't know what he's talking about.
RE: exp bonus?
# Sep 03 2001 at 10:23 PM Rating: Default
Um... I just know LOIO is probably the worst zone for EXP you can possibly be in at that level...
RE: exp bonus?
# Sep 05 2001 at 7:59 PM Rating: Default
My Shadow Knight just blew through lvl 29 in LOIO getting 1/2 bubble of blue line experience per kill. Hunted mostly skeletons & tigers with a few goblin warlords near the fort...wandering sarnaks gave pretty crappy exp. LOIO is no different than any zone in the game - you have to KNOW what to hunt. All blues are not created equally experience-wise (obviously) and the smart player will keep an eye on his experience increases and determine which mobs to kill.

Not sure what lvl you meant since you didn't state it but LOIO is not a bad zone for getting experience...you just have to use some common sense.

This is a new zone - Everyone should know Verant changes things. I have a feeling that when the zone went from test to live a number of the mobs *might* have had thier levels bumped a bit. This is only a guess but knowing Verant, it is possible.
#Anonymous, Posted: Sep 01 2001 at 9:19 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This one goes out to all farmers. So uber lvls or higher lvl people complain that they are not able to get certain items because of the new Loot rules....GUESS WHAT.....U can probly still get it by BUYING it from the people that can loot it. Doh....forgot the reason most need these items is to sell it to others anyways.

Loot code
# Sep 01 2001 at 5:05 AM Rating: Good
When Verant made the Warrens Live and said that the loot code would be in effect, my friend and I came up with a great plan on how we could go there and check out the loot without much problem. One of my 51+ characters is a druid, so he made a troll sk since we had been hunting in WL and had a nice suit of sk armor. We both went there and I Plvled his SK in the warrens so that the loot code would not apply. It worked wonderfully he could just pull and kill till his heart was content and the thorns would do most of the work. We killed everything in the zone to see what they dropped and even killed the prince a few Times cause that cloak is pretty good for free and has more int than the kunzar.

Well the thing is the same thing can be done in this zone. So get a friend that you can plvl or that can plvl you and dont worry about the code because you can split all the "Phat Lewt" and get a nice new character as well.

#Anonymous, Posted: Sep 01 2001 at 4:28 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I have a level 40 necromancer on the Xev server, and also a few other alt's as well. I have worked hard with the necromancer and thorugh blood, sweat and tears managed to get all that I have now. Never once have I begged for gear even when at the level of 12 and lost everything on me, I made it all back. I hate farming and those that farm for a item just to sell once they have it, when I farm for a item I actually equip it and use it on my necro or any of the other alt's I have. Never once have I gone and farmmed for a exp a druid only item just so I can sell it. Some of us high levels actually like to take time out from leveling by killing green mobs to get some nice gear for our lower level characters.
