The Stonebrunt Mountains is a very spiritual place, home of the Kejekan people, who rule over the land atop Mount Klaw in their small fortress of Kejek. Recently Heretics from Paineel and Kobolds from the Warrens have found out how to get into the area and have started causing trouble here for the kejekans.

This zone is available during Velious on progression servers.

Um, where are these heretics that drop heretic heads for the Swiftclaw Sash? Do the ones in Tox drop them too or only the ones in Stonebrunt?
RE: Heretics?
# Oct 15 2001 at 4:54 PM Rating: Default
No - the heretics in Toxx will not work.

The Heretic Invaders are a once a game day spawn in Stonebrunt. You pretty much need a tracker to get to them, however; as the local wildlife will attack and kill them rather quickly if you dont get to them first.

heres my story, while running thru black burrow, i had a lvl 12 hail me, he checked out my equipment without even asking then asked me if i could do him a favor, i then asked him what favor could i do for him, he then proceeded to give me a list of items he wanted me to get for him
charred guardian shield
adamantite epulets
fbss
mind u im a lvl 51 pally and these items are not easy by far to get even for a lvl 51, i told him no that those were high plat items and no way would i give them these stuff. (an fbss for crying out loud!!!)
he then proceeded to flame me, becuse i was high lvl and it was "EASY" for me to get!!
HA!!! at his lvl with my main i was hunting bb wearing only cloth armor and a rusty halbred,
i never once, NEVER, asked for any free items or armor, i EARNED all my chit,
i have a charred guardian shield in bank, its not being used my me, in fact i havent used it since lvl 35, but im not giving it away, hell no!!
the moral, if u want to beg us high lvls for chit and make a profession in eq with it then get your beg skill up or better yet quit eq and stand on the street corner and beg people for chit!!
EARN YOUR CRAP LIKE I DID!!

I agree with the orginal poster. No damn lvl 12 should get pissed if someone wont waste a whole lot of time and effort getting them items that they dont deserve. It wouldnt have been so bad if it was an innocent request..but to go off and flame him for refusing to give him stuff....that is just wrong. I mean come on, an FBSS for free?

I hate beggars. Its ok to ask for a couple plat, or some minor items, but dont get all angry if no one will help you. At least for your main, you should earn everything you have. Obviously if someone gives you stuff w/o you asking, then use it. But dont go asking for stuff 'just because'.

And the guy who cursed at the orginal poster, go ***** yourself.

Grow up! The person made an honest post about the annoyance of some low level player inspecting and then begging for items. Obviously the begging came after an inspection showed that he had a great deal of good equipment. To go off cursing and calling someone names for that has to be one of the most immature responses imaginable.

No one should expect to be given anything in the game. Help others out and others will help you but no need to beg for stuff, it is truly annoying.

TLC for quest items
# Oct 08 2001 at 5:44 PM Rating: Default
I do not know what you people read that made you THINK that quest items where not subject to the TLC... What the patch addressed was that Quest Items would be foragable regardless of level. I can assure you the TLC is still in effect for dropped items..IF you killed the mob.

Before you flame me I have a Level 49 druid who can forage the stuff fine but cannot loot heads etc. off heritic I kill.

TLC applies to any mob you do not get exp for and effects Magic, Lore, and No drop Items. Since MOST quest items are Lore and/or No Drop these most certainly apply.
RE: TLC for quest items
# Oct 11 2001 at 7:42 AM Rating: Default
What did I read to make me THINK quest items were not subject to the TLC? THE PATCH MESSAGE!!!

I quote:

--------------------------------------------------

From the Patch Message of 09-11-01
- Aurum @ 4:44 PM PDT

"Quest components in zones with the Trivial Loot Code will now be lootable regardless of level."
--------------------------------------------------
And to verify this, since the patch I have looted the dice from the Prince in the Warrens; and Panda Claws, Heretic Heads, and Spritling Stones from their respective mobs in Stonebrunt - all with a level 58 druid.

So there =P

RE: TLC for quest items
# Oct 09 2001 at 7:19 AM Rating: Decent
I hate to be rude, but that is a lie. Heretic heads do not fall under TLC. I sometimes even get the trivial message on heretics (dirt soiled robe or something is magic drop), but *I still get the heads*. No exp, no magic drops, message says trivial, but the head is there. I level 42 right now. Haven't heard of anyone not being able to loot heads. Since this person is anon, I feel less guilty accusing them of attempting to inflate the price of the swiftclaw sash with misinformation.
RE: TLC for quest items
# Oct 12 2001 at 3:33 PM Rating: Default
OK, here's the deal. Verant initially made it so that ANY nodrop, lore, or magic item would not appear in on a TLC corpse unless SOMEONE got xp from killing it. After a few hundred (maybe thousand) complaints about this removing the ability to RP these quests, Verant made a change, or so they claimed (I haven't checked). Supposedly, anything that involves a quest (being turned in somewhere) will drop regardless of TLC. So, if you find something that isn't dropping that is required for a quest, you have two options:
1) Pay a lower level player to make the kill, and if ND, let you loot it.
2) Report it to Verant and wait 2 weeks (or indefinately) for it to be changed.

IMO, its not that the TLC is so bad, its just that this is the wrong zone for it. 45 druid and me (30ranger) took on some greens and blues last night and got annihilated twice with all the adds and undercons and what-not. if this was a zone where everything wasn't underconned and there was more good loot and less quest items, it wouldn't be so bad.

But maybe i think that cause I'm only a 30 (hehe)

What if you were level 60? What if you find out about a new series of Epic Quests to be released with Luclin? What if some of the kills required greens for no drop items, just like with current Epic Quests?

Simple, Trivial Loot Code = no quest completetion for J00! Which means higher level players will throw a fit because they purchased an expansion they will get little use out of as most stuff will be "Trivial" to them to loot. Higher level players have spent more time (and money to maintain their character's on Verant's server space) developing these characters. It would be presumptuous of Verant to dissapoint the players who are their steady source of long-term income.

So... you hate farming because you have to pay 2pp per AC for your armor as a newbie. Well, got news for you... as you level, it gets more rediculous. With items that can cost as much as 50-200kpp for just for one item, yes... we high levels suffer just as much as or more than the lower levels do to get upgrades. How does one aquire 50-200kpp for each item they need? The answer should be obvious by now...

If they want to fix farming, they need another solution... TLC just sucks!

Note about farming attitude
# Oct 02 2001 at 4:09 PM Rating: Decent
Slightly off topic, but there was other discussion in this area, so thought I'd bring this up.

OK I thought that I'd bring up a little pet peave of mine. It's this whole "I belong here and you don't attitude"

When I was about lvl 45 (I"m a monk) I was camping Grachnist the Destroyer in Warsliks Woods for his Shrunken Goblin Skull Earring. When I get a tell from someone who I will refer to as IgnorantIdiot (a lvl 25 druid). This is from memory, so not direct quotes, but pretty close.

IgnorantIdiot: You're level 45 what could you possibly want in here, why don't you leave and fight somewhere more approriate to your level and leave the mobs here for us.

Me: I'm hunting Grachnist the Destroyer. Would you like to try to take him on?

IgnorantIdiot: What level is he?

Me: He's about level 35 but fights like about level 40ish. Still interested?

IgnorantIdiot: Yes

Me: OK, next time he spawns I'll bring him to you and feign death OK?

IgnorantIdiot: Nooooooooooooooo

The point is leave people alone, be patient and wait your turn. Even if Grachnist was very green to me, I have as much right to be there camping him (or any other mob for that matter)as anyone else regardless of level. In short it doesn't matter that the person is higher level, what this and other IgnorantIdiots have the mentality of is that someone else is camping something that they want, so they will say anything to make that person go away. Wait your turn like everyone else.

Girgac the Bloody is not listed here but he is a named kobold who drops the Blood Crusted Boots. Boots are 4 ac, 4 str i believe. He spawns at the kobold camp on the wall between the warrens zone and the lake. He definitely spawns there and he definitely drops the boots. Noone is ever camping him on my server, I guess they already have better boots =) Boots are a lore item and kinda rare drop, we had 3 drops in 8 hours. Hope this helps someone out. Oh yeah, I think he is around level 22-24, I dont remember exactly (if I am wrong please dont leave a post cussing me out and calling me stupid dummy, I see this all the time and it's not very nice cause i"m just trying to help people!)

RE: HAHAHAHA - why do some people just suck?
# Sep 30 2001 at 3:23 AM Rating: Decent
what the hell type of argument is this? I'm not even over lvl 30 and the TLC pisses me off. I have no problem with farmers, if they're good people. And if they're ******** then ***** with them... who said that when you turn lvl 50 you can only camp in velious and other "appropriate" area's. Why can't the people that worked their goddamned asses off to get that high lvl camp whatever the hell they want? cause some whiny lvl 30 is gunna ***** his head off to VI so they do something retarded like install the TLC? The game is meant to be fun, and enjoyable for everyone... and we all know how badass it is to get a new item, woo excitement. It's giddy childish fun, which is what the game was designed for. Not for you to get completely butthurt because some high lvl has "taken the camp away from you"... they got their first, they probably waited in line to get there, they will more then likely leave after they get what they want and not be ******** and take everything from you. Why don't you try it this way... when you see someone who wants to camp it for an item but you want xp say "hey mr. high lvl, how about you help us hold the camp, or just stand there and look cool, whatever, and if the item drops we'll give it to you." If you have a problem with that, then you obviously want the item in question. And at that point you too become a farmer, sitting there waiting for a spawn so you can kill it, loot, and probably go to your other favorite zone. How are YOU any different from the farmers you hate? Are you at all? The only difference would be your lower lvl, but that's where the difference ends.

Point being. If a person gets their char to an extremely high lvl (say 50+) then they should be entitled to every benefit a lower lvl character should be. Maybe they missed out on looting those precious boots, gloves, what have you, at the "appropriate" level. Should they be punished? Hell no, so leave the "farmers" alone, unless they're being total Aholes and KS'ing you... that's a different story, but i've had groups of the same lvl come KS me at the orc camp in EC before, so it's not as if it's only high lvl chars that are being ****** It's always going to be the same ratio of high lvl good players:high level ******** as it is low level good players:low level ********.

So just calm down before you go shaking your fist in someones face.

i just want to relay a little story that started yesterday and continued today

i went to upper guk to camp the crocs where the ac spawns, there was a lvl 42 warrior that cant get xp from the ph...

ok

so when i asked if i could kill the ph for him till the ac spawn since i know thats what he was there for he siad i couldnt, so i petitioned that he allow me to get xp from mobs that he couldnt until named mob spawnedsince i knew what he wanted, after gm spoke to him he allowed me the crocs and when ac spawned he killed it np...

ok

today i got the spawn first and he came and said since he shared the spawn with me yesterday i should share with him and let him get the ac spawn and i can have the crocs again.....

now how stupid can you be!!!!!!

moral of storie is, i understand farming named mobs that drop the items that make you uber, but to deprive a pc the ability to lvl off the ph is inconsiderate

RE: How do you gain faction in Kitty City?
# Oct 10 2001 at 7:04 PM Rating: Default
Bleh, bleh, bleh.

In order to do quests while dubious, you need someone to invis or camo you _while_ you have the trade window open with the NPC.

So far, I've done the dice quest, 5 iterations of the kejekan smithy hammer, 4 iterations of the spiritling stones, 7 releasings of spirits from soul orbs...

And I'm still dubious! aigh!

note that I had to get an alt to go get the soulforge hammer for me. Note also that I got the trivial message several times on valley spiritlings at 22, so I had to get my 18 (now 19) SK to camp them. And I had to beg a 38 ranger's assistance with the mountain ones.

There are all kinds of ways to do that. :) The hide/sneak skill are best if you have them. NO ILLUSIONS here. Quickest way to die, or if you are high enough, lose faction.

Most of the quests you get bags, but I think there are 2 that don't. I don't THINK there is a bag on the spiritlings, but I could be wrong.

I KNOW there is no bag on the quest to return the little kitty child's dice. Go kill the prince in the warrens until he drops the dice. He isn't that rare of a spawn, but we only got to kill him once, and he didn't drop the dice, so I don't know the frequency of the drop. You can kill 'bolds all day to clear room for his spawn.

Even if he's green, with the new patch adjustment a few weeks ago, quest items are lootable by any lvl. I think they did this when they noticed the lvl range of the spiritlings in SB (which is on the warrens loot rules). Well, that is my thought. I noticed it, and thought how I'd love to do the quest when I hit 25 and can take the full range on, but then if the green spiritlings don't drop...

Anyway, what I am saying is that even if he's green the dice SHOULD drop now, since they are a quest item.

If they don't and you are a class that can, then offer to PL a lowbie solo in the room if they let you loot the dice.

The dice I think are lore. Not sure if they are no drop. But if they aren't, then you could get a group with fine faction, everyone collect and then they hand them off to you one at a time. :) But they might be no drop. So, you'll have to do foot work. No big.

This Trivial Loot Code is going to kill EverQuest in the end. Sure all the lowbies are cheering now, but quite frankly once things start to become trivial for them they'll realize how limiting this is. For one, it detracts from the realism of the game, not that Verant has had any qualms about throwing realism to the wind in the past(mobs running through walls unhindered, monters over level 51 getting the ability to summon when PC's over 51 can't, etc.). Secondly, it quite frankly punishes people for leveling. It limits us and forces us into playing where Verant wants us to play rather than where we want to play. Item Farming is a privilege of leveling. It keeps many of us coming back and sticking with it when we'd otherwise give the game up. It's a rewarding experience to run solo through a zone and clean up. Some nights it sure as hell beats spending hours assembling your entire guild together to get yourselves obliterated by an unrealistically powerful dragon. It's not like you'll find terribly many lowbies outside the Lake of Ill Omen anyway. If it weren't for item farmers, some of these zones would be completely empty.

This game used to be fun, I think I'm going to go remove my credit card number from my account and get myself banned now.

"once you're high enough to do a quest, you're too high"

Hah! Sounds like someone(a druid) that is trying to solo the quest. Make a friend or two and do the quest in a group(egad, a druid share? no!). I've been doing the Wakizashi quest for a few days helping guildies get the swords(I'm a level 30 ranger with 2 wakizashis myself). I've helped 2 guild bards get their swords, and they were both lower level than me...and in the process, have collected a few heretic heads. Sure, I can take out the blue pandas myself, and even the occasional white one, but I prefer doing it with a guild mate or a group. After all, its about fun, right?

and you have fun doing it with groups. Which is great, two thumbs up for you! I'm sure somewhere a VI employee is crying with delight that the game is bring you joy. But the person who said that "once you're high enough to do a quest, you're too high" probably DID want to do it solo, and more then likely DOES find enjoyment in soloing quests. This is like assuming that everyone playing EQ is the equivalent of the high school joke with millions of friends and just loves to socialize. When, in actuality, it's not all the same breed of people, some people have fun just ******** around selling crap all day (my best friends lil sister for instance is nicknamed 'EverShop' since that's all she does) or maybe they enjoy sitting behind a tree chilling out witht he guild chat, or maybe someone enjoys soloing around, not talking to anyone. And should they be punished for that? Should you get on a board and flame them?

See it as you will, but there's always another side to view it from

The TLC
# Sep 24 2001 at 9:58 AM Rating: Default
PErsonally I feel the TLC is great for the following reasons!

1. It forces both the high levels and low levels to work together instead of the high level "SNOBS" saying I had to work for it so should you (this is fine).

2. If all you high levels out there seriously need an item from a lowby dungeon be it warrens or stonebrunt get a life make a new character and go get it, or forget about the lowby items you can goto places the lowbies are only reading and dreaming about (the Planes, Low Guk, Sol A, Sol B, Kedge Keep, so on so forth there are more dungeons in this game geared toward level 40+ than there are geared level 1-30.

3. If all you high levels are upset that you may have to pay 100pp for an item in a TLC zone think about how the lowbies feel having to pay 2pp per AC for some non stat armor... yeah 2pp is cheap to you but some level 5 or 6 is not going to have 30pp or more unless someone gave it to him/her.
Think about it a weapon that is usuable by a level 15 character and useless to a level 50 the level 15 could really use it, it is only clogging up the level 50's bank, but since everyone says the sword is worth 1000pp the level 50 will not sell it for less than that, gee you think the level 15 is going to have 1000pp no unless he spends all his/her online time buy and selling in G-Bay or EC and even then he is looking at trying to rape every lowby of his hard earned gold.

Common sense people if an item is found while your out trying to get exp not "farming" the item, and you simply cant use it or dont have a friend that can use it then why hold onto it and spend 3 hours trying to auction it when you could spend that 3 hours possably gaining a level.

I say if it is freely found it should be freely given, and that only if it costs you money should you charge money ie... I go out to lower guk and find a ghoul bane (Worth around what 200pp or so) now yeah maybe it took me 3 hours of adventurring in lower guk to get this item, but since it only cost me the cost of food and water to get it, i should only charge maybe 5 gold or so for it since i did not come down here for it... and hell maybe it cost me nothing if i either forage for my food or summon it!!!!
Do you epopel see what i am saying now if you spent 200pp on making a suit of fine steel armor and spent another 100pp on dying it funky colors... then i can see charging 300pp for the full suit... maybe a little more or a little less depending!!! but if you go and kill a mob and it drops some brionze armor why go through the trouble of trying to sell it for 2pp which to you big tough high levels is petty change give it to a l owby and make him/her happy as a pig in guano!!!!!

Okay, it's called supply and demand. If an itme is only good for a lvl 15 and it goes for 1kpp then it would be what we call a rare drop. If people are willing to pay that much then so be it. If you feel generous and want to give it away go ahead. But to say that since a GB only cost you maybe 5 gp to camp then you should sell it for that then you are missing something that everyone in a serivce buisness understands... time is money. Labor if you will. Sell it for what you think it is worth to you.

Dameos, talk to us in 20 levels, when you start to feel the urge to get a few things for an alt.

TLC is ridiculous, and thankfully is going the way of the dodo and the Edsel. I sincerely doubt that anyone with a main character over level 30 (which has got to be the VAST majority of the player base) supports this nonsense.

Squeaky-wheel lowbies will continue to whine about farming, until they earn the right to do it themselves. Then, they'll settle down and the next wave will replace them. In and out, just like the tide.

I know - I ******* about farmers when I was in my 20s as well. I actually went so far as to /petition a guy who was farming the Lower Throne Room in Cazic (sorry about that - my bad). Then I wen't and bought a Lizzy Cloak for cheap money, and went about my way.

Think about it though - without Farmers the EQ economy, such as it is, would collapse.

I agree.. I have saved many a peeps from ghastly BB trains, etc because I was the lvl 30 there ..and yes.. I was looking for a quest item for a friend's alt. All the loot, I get I give away or leave it for the newbies to loot. I have given away Martar's cloak, bronze armor pieces, crafted armor items, LoW, not to mention items to friends in my same level... heck I'm too darn lazy and impatient to sit at EC and sell stuff.

If the camp is open, then whoever wants it (regardless of lvl) should get it..and enjoy it. I f ya wanna sell and make a profit go ahead. I don't have to have those really high lvl items ya know. Save up, make money with trade skills. Ya don't need to have a frozen velium battle axe at lvl 20.

Just my 2cp

>Think about it a weapon that is usuable by a level 15 character and useless to a level 50 the level 15 could really use it, it is only clogging up the level 50's bank, but since everyone says the sword is worth 1000pp the level 50 will not sell it for less than that, gee you think the level 15 is going to have 1000pp no unless he spends all his/her online time buy and selling in G-Bay or EC and even then he is looking at trying to rape every lowby of his hard earned gold. <

If a sword is worth 1kpp, then it probably drops in a zone where a level 15 can't adventure in yet. Quit looking for a handout. Most high level people worked bloody friggin hard to get to the level they are at and have invested countless hours a play time and frustration. Who are you to chastise them?
Awesome zone

The day this zone opened I was THERE along with some guildmates.
I LOVE this zone.
The TLC, if you hadn't noticed, was modified so quest items drop no matter your level. A 45 shm bud got the bag for heretic heads just after this fix.
So far as greens aggro.. yegads like clockwork. Kejek leopardess, kejekan ghoulam(sp) all green when I went in as 32 clr. I was killed by highland tigress, mature panda and found the kitties at Kejek hate kobolds and will aggro them. Nothing else though. Kitties will stand idly by and let pandas gore to their hearts content/mourn.
Having acquired XPRez, I may step back in and see how they like me now=)

Take care of each other...
