ALL THE WARENS INFO YOU NEED
# Mar 15 2001 at 7:24 PM Rating: Good
here is a link to what one of the new armor looks like its called soft wicker and has the same stats as leather BUT is green leather! its very cool. www.deedge.com/guildmoments/l33tlitcor.gif

as soon as you enter the zone you got a choice to go left or right. Left leads to the king side (hes a sk) and right goes to the prince area and i have a picture of the prince. www.deedge.com/guildmoments/princebragnar.gif
the prince conned white to a 18 necro and was green to my 26 monk and green to my 35 druid. He apparently drops 2 rare loots. a shiled and the Bracer of the Forlorn: +3 wis +5 manna -1 int. It is platemail so its no good for druids or shamans but good for palys.

softwicker armor is green leather all but small races like gnomes. the differnt kinds of elfs can wear it. Drops off ALL kobolds

light burlap armor is some armor that has no look and drops off all kobolds and is not good.

Bamboo splint armor - ive only seen bracers drop and its ringmail. ive heard of it only coming off greater shamans and the prince/king. Ive yet to see what it looks like but have reason to belive its yellwo ringmail.

the items here are not so good but they have KILLER looks. Theres a weapon that looks like a scimitar on a pole. A ninja looking sword. 2h and 1h blunt weapons (really sucky).

There is a jail here aswell were there is captured erudites and some kind of cat (not keran). The zone is pritty spectacular

the king side has a bunch of bats and kobolds.

the highest lvl things are the bat lord, kobold king, and kobold prince.

if your worried that the paineel guards guarind the newbie area are gonna kill you dont worry! they conned green to a lvl 18 and did not aggro. I believe they have really bad aggro ranges. You can be bound anywhere in paineel.

To get to the warens from tox forest go completly south then east or west till you find the paineel entrnace (not guarded). You then zone into paineel and you can take a left or right. right to the city (a de necro was kos) or left to the newbie grounds (guarded by 2 weak small aggro ranged guards). Once in the newbie ground head to the back and head down the stairs, you will come to a pool and near it is the entrance (if you keep going donw you find the locked hole entrnace)

note:
inside the warens on the king side you will notice a small place by the river where there is 2 kobold fisherman. a rock near them is blocking a way to a future zone which i belive will be something like lower guk but lowe warens. It would proably be 15-30 but im not sure.

also the loot system there works like this:
you kill a kobld and it drops a item thats either magic, lore or no drop. If the kobold was green to anyone in your group it will give you a message telling you so and you cant loot that item and cant see what it is. But with my experience i noticed that there is only either 1-3 items that are lore magic or no drop. Kobol mollar and some others. The mollar is for a quest in paineel.

if your lvl 4-18 i recomend this zone. the zone is really 4-20 but it gets slow at 18.

thats all i can think about to say at this time

doooood, get yer facts straight...

ninja sword = bronze wakazashi or katana?
scimitar on a pole = bronze naginata

dusty burlap is cloth drop, no look.
soft wicker is green leather
splinted bamboo is green ringmail

(unmentioned) cold iron is black bronze and chain.

the rock which is locked supposobly leads to the stonbrunt mountins... a future outdoor zone on odus, which is already in development.

now, what do i do with all those pesky teeth that keep dropping? if you anything other than an evil erudite, or have good faction with the paineel guards, leave them alone... however, if you have good evil erudite faction (and don't mind ******** your good erudite faction) go turn in the mollars to the guard of the second floor of the palace in paineel. he gives faction, coin, and (rare) a peice of ringmail.

I have only had the bamboo splint armor drop one single time and that was of the Smith in the kitchen (bamboo splint coif was what I got on the drop). I killed him many many times but that was the only time he's dropped the splint. I've had him drop the crate several times and the ball peen hammer once.
I'm inclined to believe that someone high enough level that he didn't agro may have dropped the coif on him before I went in and killed him that time (First time I fought him)

There is also an npc in the Paladin guild (Prexus) who wants kobold molars the reward is exactly the same but w/ opposite faction!! Great for those who still want the awesome quest but don't have the time to get the faction!

What is the name of the npc Paladin? I 've talked to everyone in there and no one says anything about it. Of course one says hi then tells me I haven't done enough for the cause yet. How do I fix this?
RE: FOR all those who can't do the molar quest have NO FEAR!
# Apr 08 2001 at 3:19 PM Rating: Default
I am not sure what his name is, but the Paladin you seek can be reached by entering the Guild Hall of Prexus. Go inside and head to the back door. That door leads to a courtyard wherein you will find two NPCs. The one you want is Tiam (I believe). They did not talk to me originally, but I just offered him the molar and he accepted. It took a few molars before I started getting ringmail from him. No matter what you get experience, coin, and faction with Erudin and lose faction with Paineel.

stonbrunt mountins is a zone currently in development by verant. supposobly, the locked rock inside the warrens will lead to them. supposobly an outdoor zone, for mid levels... so something like the lake of ill omen, if my guess is correct.

I would say he's probably not KoS, because your deity is Cazic Thule and you're a Shadowknight, but don't expect a warm welcome when you get there, since you're a Troll. If you're going there to hunt, it won't really matter, since you'll raise faction with the Heretics pretty fast by killing kobolds. However, if you're going there to do a quest in Paineel, prepare to spend a long time doing faction farming inside the Warrens. I've heard you need to have amiable faction to recieve the key, though I've not verified this myself. You could always have somebody open the lift for you, or wait for somebody to use it themselves, and hope that the giver of the quest will still accept the items. <shrug> Bit of a long walk to find out you're KoS, though, so try and get a friendly druid or wiz to port you there.

Your wrong. We are KOS there. I tried to get into the city last night, after a few days of Kolbold killing in the warrens, and was ganged up on by the guards. I'm lucky that I had a Euridite friend to drag me out. Wonder how much more I'll need to do...
The Warrens: A Guide to Reaching Them
# Mar 15 2001 at 1:04 PM Rating: Excellent

All right, people. The Warrens looks to be a brand new, nice level zone that will be fun to hunt in for the levels hunting there because of the vast ammount of money you can make there. All those weapons you have been hearing about are Bronze, and the Bamboo Bo staves as well sell for 3 plat a peice, as so I imagion all the sets of armor, or at least a gold. These prices are to vendors, of course. Everything in there may look very nifty, but most are junkish at best, though worth keeping if you love the look. Young people should definatly hunt here in groups and work in teams, as the trains could be very deadly indeed for anyone under 10. The Warrens are a good dungeon, but it's real benefit, is to make money. Those who hunt in the Warrens will find themselves with a hundred platinum or more before they even level above being able to hunt there, if they focus on getting and selling everything in Paineel or Erudin. Also, the Kobold Molar quest inside Paineel gives random peices of Ringmail, excellent for younglings who cant afford Banded yet, or yet another source of the all might platinum. So don't knock the Warrens, It's a Money Dungeon, something younglings desperately needed.

And as for getting into the Warrens, the route is almost completely safe for *any* level character. You don't need invis of any kind there. To get to the Warrens, as most people will be leaving from Erudin when they take the boats, all you need do is when you leave Erudin, hang a left and hug that wall all the way around. You will get to the Entrance to Paineel in no time and safely, as long as you avoid the low level Kobolds in their little camp there if you are low enough to be attacked by them. Also, if you are arriving from the Druid and Wizard teleports, go North untill you hit the wall or East untill you hit the wall, respectively. Then just hang a right along it and you will get to Paineel quickly. Then, you enter Paineel past Ig and Oog... ...the two Skeletons there that con indifferent to Everybody. Nice guys, really. They are good conversationalists for dead men...

...aaaaaanyway.

Once you Zone inside Paineel, you go down the tunnel untill you see the vast expance of The Hole in front of you. Just remember, Do Not Fall In. Very scary. Very Painful. Don't do it. It's not that dangerous though unless you go LD with Autorun on. Then you fall and you die. Painfully. But that rarely happens, so don't worry about it when traveling to the Warrens. When you see the expance of the Hole in front of you, hang a left and turn into the tunnel there. This will take you down the path to the Paineel Newbie Zone, and you just run right through the middle of the exit when you leave. Nice and easy. Nothing will attack you. Both those Skeleton Guards you have heard about are Perma-Rooted and green to most everybody. They quad-hit in the 400s however, So I wouldn't attack them. You could stand right next to them and go 'Hey Ugly!' and they would just sit and stare. As long as you don't actualy hit them with anything damaging, they will be nice. As for Noclin, he too is Permarooted unless you attack him. He just sits there off to the side and does nothing, easy to avoid. Best not go near though, he was blue to a level 20, and might possibly be good experiance for levels below and above if you care to slaughter him. Now, the only thing you need to worry about... are idiots. Yes. Stupid People. Now, there is one other thing I forgot to tell you, when you reach the newbie area of Paineel, there will be a door to your left. Do /NOT/ go in it if you are disliked in Paineel. It will bring out the high level Necromancer who is sitting up in his little area up there. Azzar Habbib. He has been my death twice due to stupid people. When awakened by someone who goes up that door, often he is pulled out into the Newbie zone, or worse, trained to the Warrens. Azzar will then go on a killing Rampage on all people hated by the Heretics... I lost nearly an entire orange to his rampage last night. I do indeed, Fear the power of the Dreadful Hat.

Well, once you get into the Newbie Zone, you are home free, just run out over the large crest in the center and you will see the archway back to the Warrens and The Hole. From here on, you are safe untill you get to the Warrens. ...unless someone awakened the Power of the Dreadful Hat. Anyway, you run down through the entryway, and down the flight of stairs there. You then enter what is lovingly called the Pool Room. There it is safe and a good place to recoup from The Warrens. That is again, unless someone stupid trains Azzar to the Warrens. So from the Pool Room, you will see to exits, one straight ahead, the other to your left. Hang the left and you will go down a short entryway and Ding! The Warrens! Go make some Money, young one!

Anyway, there is one other problem I see. Azzar. Other then the usual silly people making the mistake of opening the door and going in, others have and will be Maliciously Train Azzar Habbib to the Warrens to slaughter anyone there, just because some people do that for fun. You know the type I am talking about. People who shouldn't be playing this game. I believe high level characters can slay him easily, but still, the people who will frequent the Warrens won't be high level after the initial rush. So, it's best to be on your guard and be ready to zone into the Warrens untill if or when this problem is addressed. Fear the Dreadful Hat, or he will make you afraid of it.

Happy Adventuring in the Warrens! I hope this has helped make getting there a bit easier! And remember...

Fear the Dreadful Hat!!!

I must be missing something here, because these guards in Paineel have attacked and killed me every time I tried to go to the Warrens w/o invis, and I mean EVERY time. For being 'perma-rooted,' they sure can move around a lot. Perhaps this 'non-rooted' behaviour is unique to my server, in which case, for you newbies on the Seventh Hammer, watch out!

I am one of those stupid people. I went in that door and agroed the Necro. I died twice because of it. I admit it, I am one of those stupid people.

I got to paineel with a 17 Monk and thought, "hey, I must not be KOS here since I am Agnostic." Feign Death gives us Monks too much confidence. I was humbled, loosing almost a whole yellow and will consider myself wiser for the wear.

Stupid Monks.

Question: Will faction with this guy go up if I spend time in The Warrens? Will I be able to sell and bank in Paineel eventually or should I just run across TOX to Eruden?

While fighting in warrens your heretic faction will go up allthough it takes hundreds of kills to get it to go up much. If your ready to attack by the guards than you will need to be in the warrens for quite a long time to become dubious. Inside paineel all 3 guilds and merchants are on heretic faction so if you can get by guards you can go anywhere you want in paineel without fear.
Also a warning the guards may appear to be green and low level but they hit for over 100 a hit so beware.

I was really worried, as I had turned up with my 14th lvl pally to explore the new zone and promptly got beaten down by Azzar. Luckily, I made it through his goddawful spells and managed to zone (dont know how, I really dont...) to Tox again.

Silly question, but I have never been bound to a new place. How do I do this? Who do I talk to? Does it cost money? I live in Tox .. is it worth it or not? Once bound how does one become unbound?! Any help will be WONDERFUL!
P.S. What is proper group etiquette? If I see a group and am solo can I ask to be invited if they are similar level and without a cleric?
RE: The Warrens: A Guide to Reaching Them
# Apr 12 2001 at 4:47 PM Rating: Decent
Hi,
No question is silly. When you go too a new place you normally will want to be bound, but you live in Tox you do not have to be rebound at the warrens.

You bind yourself if you are a caster and old enough to have that spell. (when you are, you can bind YOURSELF any where) But if you are a young caster or melee type you get bound by an older caster. They must group with you and cast a spell. This only works in some areas. Mostly city zones. You can bind right out side the warrens because that is considered part of the city zone.

If you are very young most people will not charge you to be bound. Often they like getting things they can use as a thank you tip. Batwings, Snake scales, eggs, bone chips. It never hurts to ofter those things but they will often be refused. But most people that can pay, give about 5pp for a bind.

Groups - yes ask for a group. Turn on your LFG sign (looking for a group /lfg) Do not shout over and over again. Maybe do a shout in charactor or funny "Loney cleric seeks group for companionship, long hunts and good loot."

Ask people if they have room for you if you see a group fighting well. As a cleric you need to learn fast how to pick a good group.

Good luck young one,

ummm...actually on test we found that the 'hat guy' would sometimes unload on ppl anyway...then he shares his hate list with the guards...and blammo, newbie in red sauce!...the safest way to do this is to train hat guy into the newbie zone aggroing a feared fire bettle train or something....then have the newbie races to the zone...as a cleric, i just poped divine aura and hoofed it...after doing a shout first, of course. It is 22 sec at full run to the warrens and bad pathing usually gives you the other 4 secs....good luck

I ran into a (new) high-level NPC Necro in the newbie zone while he was nuking a halfling. After a chuckle at the carnage, I hailed him and he told me he was depressed, a giant bat had stole his hat.

"What hat?" I ask.

A special cap blessed by Cazic Thule himself...

What the hell? I couldn't get anything else out of him. I'm assuming one of the bats in the Warrens drops this thing...what are the stats, I wonder?

The other thing I love is seeing all the dead Non-evil Erudite corpses near the guards to the newbie zone. Heh, heh...

The wayz this zone is set up, it's going to be known for trains the wayz Eastern Commons is known for auctions! Tis ok...teach the newbies a lesson in getting in over their head and the consequences thereof. Wandering=DEATH in many dungeons.

Speaking of that, I'm issuing a warning to all that hunt this area. I was scouting it out (not killing anything, just camo'd and explorin') and fell through a false floor in the King's Room. That led me to a basement full of these little cretins called "mischievous batlings" who cast Flame Burst on me almost immediately. They were all green to me but that doesn't let you know that there were TONS of em! I mean, they populate that area of the dungeon like Kobolds populate the caves...they're freakin' EVERYWHERE!
And when they all start bombin' you with that fire based spell, you die pretty quickly. And it is a CHORE getting your corpse out....

just a warning so look out for the recessed walls in the Throne/King room...false floors are in them.

A good idea would be to get your local Cleric to cast Magic and Fire Resistance on you if you plan on going to the Throne Room. You may not fall in, but like everywhere in EQ Accidents Happen and a little resistance may go a long way.

The other enterance to where these are at is in the room with the mugwump. The area behind his pool has a false floor which drops you right in front of one of these. Well according to the patch message it seems 50+ people wont be farming the warrens as with the patch it seems that if the mob doesnt give you xps and you outclass it in level it wont drop magic lore or no drop items for you aww isnt that a shame no farmers of uber high level only people who can get some xps fighting there.

I don't mind the loot restrictions yet, though I hope Verant considers some of the problems (like SKs who need to build Paineel faction not being able to harvest their own kobald molars) but a kobold runt attacked my level 21 druid while meditating. The dog died instantly of course, and I got the trivial fight message. All well and good, but if I know it's trivial, and the mutt knows it's so trivial the loot will be restricted then it should decide aggroing on me is kind of pointless and just leave me alone!

I agree i was chomping at the bit once i reached 7th lvl. I couldnt wait till i reached those 8th lvl spells. When to my complete suprise i learned that thee were very few creatures (sentries and briar snakes were the only ones i found)I could hunt that didnt lower my faction standing. being an Erudite necromancer made it very difficult to get through qeynos and on to BB which is so overcrowded as to make my time there useless. I am now happily hunting and running from trains in the backyard of my own city instead of across an ocean where I am kos to just about everything under the sun. Once the new wears off of the warrens and the lvl 30+ get outta there ( i have seen a few you know who you are) i probably will stay until lvl 20 or so then head over to kerra till 25 and then back to the warren and from there I'll start my evil plot to take over the world )
