Kerafyrm's Lair, formerly known as Sleeper's Tomb, is a dark dungeon located beneath the icy wastes of Velious, and was used by the First Brood to contain Kerafyrm.

Anyone at least 55th level can now enter this zone. The actual key (no longer required) is gained through this quest.

Eras ago, there was no such thing as the Claws of Veeshan or Ring of Scale -- dragons from all over Norrath were a part of the same faction. At some point, two dragons of different color decided to mate. Resulting from this union were Kerafyrm, a baby crystal dragon and an ensuing conflict amongst the dragons. In a successful effort to end the war, the First Brood imprisoned Kerafyrm in a tomb deep beneath the wastes of Velious. Leaving four warders in place to guard the now-dormant crystal dragon.

Jaled'Dar, a rebel dragon amongst the Claws of Veeshan, wanted to bring the Golden Age back to Norrath and decided that The Sleeper had to be awakened. He, however, he perished in a great battle with the iksars and now rests in his spirit form in Dragon Necropolis. Due to his passing, he needed to enlist the aid of Norrathian adventurers to further his cause.

In due time, Kerafyrm was indeed awakened from his tomb, and went through the icy wastes, and into Skyshrine. (Quite a lot of time passed before he resurfaced in Crystallos.)

With the warders no more and Kerafyrm free, this historic tomb is now home to a group of ancient dragons: Zeixshi`Kar, Vyskudra, Tjudawos, and Kildrukaun.

Level 55 is required to enter the zone.

new or perhaps missed mob: Drakonine Sentinel, green to 85 probably around the same level (67) as the other "Drakonine _____" named. found him in one of the corners by the door drop down to Arbiter. casts drakeen breath, enrages.

Drops the "Secundae" line of weapons, this time he had a 2hs. also dropped Primal Avatar spell.
Kerafyrm is in Crystallos now...

Ascending Dawn of Ralloz Zek.

Ascending Dawn was the first guild to take down The Sleeper.
I did not read everything below, so I do not know if this is being repeated.
Ascending Dawn with help from Wudan, Seekers of Divinity, and one other guild I can't recall the name, were the first guild to ever take Kerafyrm down.
The first night they went to take the Sleeper down, the GM's de-spawned Kerafyrm at about 30% health, they thought someone was hacking, because Kerafyrm has some 20 million health, this was after 3 + hours of fighting.
The GM's apologized as good as a GM is capable of doing so.
Ascending Dawn regrouped the following night and Killed Kerafyrm after some 4 & 1/2 hours of fighting, the main tank died some 70+ times in that fight, and there was a chain of clerics working their right clickies/epic res.
The GM's said they would announce it across all servers, but they never didn't until a month later after some guild on another server took him down.
I was a member of Seekers of Divinity the feeder guild to AD at the time, & I did not goto the raid, I would have been a drain on the raid.

Things to always take in to account when comparing Ascending Dawn and the helping guilds is... Ralloz Zek was the only pure PVP server, and it is 2 to 3 times harder to level and or get good gear for the fact that, wiping was common because of looting someones corpse was fair game, and you could get picked off really fast during any fighting. so some *** could come in and loot one item off of you. Velium Blue diamond bracelet etc... Never a day went buy that someone was not attacking me, grouped or not.
So enduring all that leveling getting gear, and keeping your gear. made Ralloz Zek the most difficult server ever. But it also made us stronger, that is why Kerafyrm went down on Ralloz Zek first.
Ascending Dawn, is the greatest guild ever in the history of online gaming.
There will never be another Kerafyrm challenge. Eq is where people learned how to raid. So you could have a WoWarcrap guild do somthing like that, but raid tactics were born on Everquest.
Everquest is the Alpha Omega.
Ascending Dawn and allies are the Victors of the Victorious, Slayers of Kerafyrm.

You can rebuke what I have said, but it will never change any of the facts.

The first time is always the hardest.

Wish I could have been there to see him drop.

Sincerely,

Anon

I was there that night , and a few things your incorrect about is your emphasis on Ascending dawn, They are but one guild , and 30% of the people there. Seekers of divinity was NOT the feeder guild for ASD they were a guild of their own currently progressing through different content ( all good ppl too if i might add )

In fact , most of them were not even assisting because they didnt want to die. Almost every single worthless wizard didnt cast 1 spell so they could try to manaburn him at the end and get the kill.

For the most part it was pathetic , with over 500ppl that we had that night , we could have killed him in a half hour if everyone jumped into it.

Instead , it was just a pointless nerdfest if you ask me.

Anyways there was a royal rumble a week later and i killed 14 Asd ( woot )

then they gangbanged me.

The end.
Makeover

Looks like some of the mobs have gotten a graphic makeover. The two caretakers at the zone-in and the priests are now the blue gargoyle graphic, not sure when they changed it since I only recently came back from my EQ hiatus. Will check out the rest of the zone later when I can get some more suckers to come with me.

Who The Sleeper is
# Jul 14 2005 at 9:49 PM Rating: Decent
The Sleeper as you may or may not know is the offspring of a Fire Brood dragon and a Ice brood dragon this was a major non no so said Veshaan to her Dragon broods "Do not Mate outside of your own brood". What most people think is that Naggy and Vox
are the Mom and Pops of Kerafyrm. Wrong!! Naggy and Vox are like 5th Brood thus in the eq time line Naggy and Vox were born some 1000 years after Kerafyrm was put to sleep. From what I have Pieced together from Lore and the EQrpg monster manual is that the true father of Kerafyrm is in fact Lord Doz
the Curst in Halls of Testing. Placed there by Veeshan to be forever tormented by mortals seeking her favor. Death to only be resurected to be killed again and again and again. Kinda a nifty way to explane why he respawns. As for Why Kerafyrm wasnt killed out right... No one could kill him. But he could be tricked. If you have ever Tried any of the Eq Emu's you will find that they upgraded Kerafyrm he infact hits for 7000 Quads and DTs for 32000. Meaning he cant be killed by standard means.

#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 05 2005 at 6:09 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Last night, Saturday, March 5th, 2005, and me my friends killed Vyskudra the Ancient. We've killed him a few times before, mainly because he's so easy. We usually don't bother with the other three. To my surprise, on his death, he shouted something. The last few times we killed him, I don't remember him shouting anything when he died. Also, Sleeper's Tomb seems to have been tampered with lately, since we tried to raid the zone a few days before, and it was very laggy and broken. Anyways, he's what he shouted:
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 27 2005 at 6:41 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) The story behind Kerafym (the sleeper) is that he is the son of i believe Vox and naggy (fire and ice) which of course fire dragons cannot mate with ice dragons. Which is why Kerafym was so powerful. He was banished to Sleepers Tomb by the other dragons of veeshan in order to keep him under control. I had a book about the lore of EQ somewhere but i cant seem to find it. There was also once a Plane of War and RZ resided there, NOT in Potatics, but apparently SoE couldnt fix the X/Y axis problem with the geometry of the zone so they just made it flat, and stuck all three zeks in the same zone so they could meet the release date of PoP

what is the point of even trying to kill the sleeper if he has no drops and isnt for anything? How do yo even awake him? Once his is woke can he even be woke up again? BTW Sleeper is lvl 99 not 75. A friend with show EQ comfirmed that and he has like 400billion hp.
RE: ?????
# Mar 25 2005 at 8:58 AM Rating: Default
Some one once asked kennedy "why put a man on the moon" he replied "because we can" the sleeper doesn't have 400 billion HP, and i doubt he is 99, the highest level mob i have have seen personaly is 85, and thats in ommens. ShowEQ does not tell you how much HP a mob has, as that is not sent client side in the udp stream. DIE NOOB

you forgot the biggest part. OMM hits lighter then kerafyrm, even when someone has missed clicky for OMM. also your forgetting the fact that when he was awakened, tanks didnt have over 7khp, and that there were 300 people compared to a max off OMM with 54. also, OMM fights have been done flawlessly without a single death, sleeper fight had over 3k deaths.

Its a matter of legacy.

The Sleeper, for his age (consider the lower levels, fewer AA's, and much weaker equipment that you'd scoff at now), was the hardest MOB ever.
I have little doubt OMM or the demi-god form of Mistmoore would whipe the floor with him. However, the players who fought The Sleeper worked harder with what was available.

So, its.. kind of a question of values. The players who brought down The Sleeper on Zek did achomplished something that no one else ever had before, or has since. There's no equivilant of this as of the date of this post.
Still, they lose bragging rights over the simple fact that The Sleeper is, if available to fight again today, not nearly the challenge he was. The game devalued him by becoming easier, giving players more power more simply and dramatically increasing the maximum power.

Those who fought against The Sleeper can claim having taken home the greatest challenge ever presented in EQ, yet they can not claim to be the all-time strongest.

Sleeper hit for 2k, was later upped to 7k. Sorry, but 7k is a drop in the pan nowadays since that's all he had going for him. He's far from hard. A raid of 12-18 could easily kill him in DP/TSS gear.
RE: ?????
# Jun 09 2007 at 4:10 PM Rating: Decent
he always hit for max damage, and quaded for 7k each hit=28k /round that means tank would b dead no matter how good he was. add a 20k dd and there ya go. so if u got some 50k hp tanks, and had a ch rotation of .12 seconds u might have a shot.

also, wut mob quads for 7k. end game tss mobs dont even hit for that

uh...
no

Not only is every hit a quad for max damage, but he also cast a 20k unresistable dd. Had zone-wide agro, and Cazic touches, which at the time was 32k. Now it's 100k.

There is/was no tanking him.

The only way to even imagine doing it, would be swapping in tanks with more than 41,000 hp being healed to full every single second. And hoping for no riposte.

The only way they managed to do it at all was to keep the resurrection rate faster than his kill rate. And that was still 4 hours of non stop fighting.
People die the instant they are on top of the agro list. People being res'd didn't even bother looting their corpses anymore except for a weapon.

Strat for the fight:
Click "yes" to resurrect
Loot weapon
HT or Mana burn , or swing.
Die, and wait for the next "click yes"

The Sleeper is obviously a key part of the lore leading up to EQ2, but could someone direct me to a good website or source for info on EQ Lore? I dont really understand who the Sleeper is or why his awakening is so significant. Not in a powerful enough guild to take on the Sleeper, so doubt I'll ever encounter this lore in game myself. The Sleeper was just a way of ending eq one and try to move peeps to eq two. They started making eq two before this exp pack. They though they were going to be done by the time peeps got to the sleeper but they were wrong. After putting off eq two more and more to add new things. As you know ( hopefuly ) they are still saying that the sleeper is still going to kill the world of norrath but 2 citys so they have a story line for ew two. They did not plan to have it last this long but the story is still the same. Now they are going to keep eq one for the moment becuse it has grown to much.
