Home to the Sirens of Velious, much of the Grotto is underwater. In addition to the Sirens, whose palatial quarters can be found deep within the caves, there are many types of aquatic life here. Seahorses, swordfish, mermaids, and elementals can be found throughout the area and are highly aggressive. Above water are the passive walruses and a clan of unwelcoming Bulthars.

These NPCs are in Surefall Glade. They are on opposite sides of the waterfall.

What the hell is Succor????

Alright people, for those of us tanks who have no idea what the frig you're talking about, enlighten us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RE: What the hell is Succor????
# Jan 28 2001 at 5:35 AM Rating: Decent
Succor is a teleport spell that moves you to a predetermined spot in the same zone you are currently in, and erases all hate lists. The spot you are moved to is also supposedly "safe" ie no wanderes come close to it.

You use it to evac .. without the hassle of having to walk all the way back once you are ready to fight again.

isnt the spell called "Egress"?

Succor is the actual line of evacs ie Succour : Karana which evacs the group to East Karana from any dungeon. Egress is the line of intra zone evacs that were implemented with Velious. Not trying to be a knit picker.. just wanted to clarify, he wanted enlightenment :)

Actually EGRESS was implemented with Ruins of Kunark. But feel free to consider yourself a scholar, anyways.

Egress is the self only intra zone TP....Succor is the group version of this. Also, Egress can only be cast in outdoor zones, where Succor can be cast in any zone.

Actually Succor does not wipe hate list. We succor
out of a bad situation in OS, back to zone in, and we were promptly summoned back by the mob. so the hate list is not cleared.

Egress is the self-only, outdoor-only version of succor. Succor works in any zone

Oh and just for posterity, Succor is very quick casting whereas gate and port are quite slow.
RE: What the hell is Succor????
# Mar 08 2001 at 12:57 AM Rating: Decent
Succor is 57 Druid same zone group evac. Egress in Outdoor only self only evac. They both now wipe hate list. And they are both the same casting time as other Evac spells 9 seconds where as gate is only 5 seconds.

went here with 2 groups of lvl 60s and got owned mostly because mobs would magically disappear and reappear with 30 of their friends. Killed maybe 20 mobs total, no spells no loot nothing. This zone is a waste of time until they fix some of the bugs here.

Yeah tried with 4 groups coming in from the West Wastes side. We'd start pulling kill about the first 6 or 7 mobs then have to zone because suddenly 20-30 Mobs appear out of no where. Never actually made it past the zone in, except the puller who had to move in to pull.
Agreed, to a point
# Jan 07 2001 at 8:18 AM Rating: Decent
THe trick with this zone is all in the pulling. I went there, dusting off my L54 SK on Rallos Zek, with one other person (a L55 Druid), and we held our own for over three hours, just the two of us, only pulling one at a time. It CAN be done... just damn hard.

I agree that the zone's bugged... give it time, and be patient.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 08 2001 at 6:06 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You're kidding right? A 2 man team in Siren's Grotto killing a mob? Riiiight.... The zone in mobs are 54+ one of which is non mezzable. They hit for 200+ and you and a druid killed one of them alone. Don't think so. I give a 60 druid and 60 SK an expected life span of about 1 minute tops against any of those walrus guys. No way in hell can druid heals keep up with that kind of damage.
Druid,SK, I can see that.

Pretty simple, assuming you can pull singles to the right spot. Root, DoT, repeat until dead.

Someone wasn't paying attention... at 54, EVERYTHING you cast will be resisted!

Not to mention they will summon you after you do damage to them, even rooted. No root/dot kite for joo.

As for this zone sucking, I agree. At least give us a strategic way to get through this zone without using Succor. Make Invis to Animals useful for once. A few other things in reguards to fighting in the zone, fix the pathing, and make mobs more brave (less apt to run because they're at home) just for this zone, and it would be a lot better. When mobs turn to run, they just dissapear sometimes, even when snared (probably being warped to their 'bind' spot) and suddenly reappear with 10 friends.

if you ever go to Sirrens grotto u will see, that apon entry there are 3 walrus's that will agro u as soon as u enter ( unless invised ). Fear kiting does work for summoning mobs ( my self at 53 and a 51 necro friend solo the named wyvern in CS alot ) but there is NO room in SG for fear kiting. Besides as soon as fear breaks or its rooted ( to keep from agroing more mobs ) You cannot evade me Voultor! You have been summoned
which eventually leads to....
LOADING PLEASE WAIT.....
Not saying that a SK.Drood paired in here soloing wouldnt work. I have seen people do things that most consider imposible. Would like to see it done though... just my 2 cents.

Well, I have personally seen a high lvl necro solo a mob that can summon, it's called reverse kiting, you know, slow it with a dark line of spell and fear it, but as the pathing problems with this zone that might not be possible. As for an SK/Druid combo, that could work as long as it is snared/darked and feared and you have plenty of space to work with. I have done this with a necro friend a few times in Skyfire on some summon mobs. Not saying you don't get summoned a few times yourself, but it was fun and exp was great.

hahaha 2 person...riight...
there's no room to kite (not that it would have worked anyway due to summons), so the SK would be forced to take damage. And we all know Sks cannot take and deal damage as well as a warrior, and druid can't heal as well as a cleric. You DoT this thing it frenzy on you and you'll be summoned liek no tomorrow. I just wonder, are you suggesting to the poor people who may believe you to try and take those things with just 2 people? Not even a Warrior/Cleric can do anything against them much less a SK and Druid.

I love how everyone jumps on the person, many of who have never experimented with the zone / MOBs at all :)

1) The ulthorks at the entrance do NOT attack you immediately if you're not invis, as long as you hug the wall to your left when you enter. Then, invis. After that, march smartly past the Ulthorks ... they won't bother you.

2) The MOBs the person was probably killing for 3 hours were likely the seahorses. They're animals. Druids have a HUGE line of animal spells (animal tash, charm, fear, etc). The SK was probably a good DOT for the druid, and could fear if/when the druid fear broke.

3) Not enough room to kite? There's a HUGE pool there.

4) There are pathing problems. Perhaps they exploited, perhaps not.

5) We're druids, thank you very much. Dr00ds are a different species of critter, that run over medding folks during quad kites, and hardly ever post useful information here for you to read :)

single pull, disease dot on t.he mob, so no regen. dr00d places some dots and zones out, sk fds...if the mob wanders of the sk refreashs the disease and voila....after 3h you have killed a mob:)

This is supposedly one of the toughest zone (partly because of bugs). I heard all kind of stuff about this, magic resistant mobs, mobs that charm... And whats in there ? no evil looking demons, no huge dragons....... Walruses.......
A full raid is getting owned by ..... walruses...
very lame in my opinion
