The scarring left by Veeshan as she clawed Norrath so long ago is more evident in Cobalt Scar than just about any other area in Norrath. Large amounts of water sit in the gouges she left behind, and now the sirens of the Grotto use its cover to lure unknowing ship crews into protruding rocks.

On the land, wyverns and drakes of Skyshrine fiercely protect their habitat while a clan of Othmir critters make their home on the beach below the cliffside.

This is my first post and I wish it were on something more positive. I play a druid as well as a Beastlord and a Bard as my 3 main characters. I hear all this rubbish about certain classes being "bad". There is NO SUCH THING. It is the person playing the toon, not the toon itself.

For the record, I originally created a druid as it seemed the druid was good solo as well as in groups. I only solo about 10% of the time and the rest I am in groups with my guild. Yes, I quad in CS when I can, but only when it does not interupt other players. I have encountered players who do not care and will take over the zone but it is the person, not the toon. I have also encountered many who are considerate and kind and generous. The considerate people have far outnumbered the selfish ones but we always make a loud noise about the bad things and rarely talk about the good. We are quick to condemn but slow to give praise.

I am NOT interested in making recriminations. I have bad stories like everyone else but I have good stories as well and they are the ones I choose to remember.

As for CS being a quad kiting zone, that too is rubbish. There are zones more conducive to quadding than others and CS happens to be one of them. As another poster said, it has a lot to do with the difficulty in getting to CS as well. The fact is that many outdoor zones with sufficient space and suitable pathing is suitable. CS happens to have predictable pathing with the drakes which makes it relatively easy.

EQ is filled with many nice people who do not hesitate in doing good things for others. People who are considerate and kind to others. These people play the whole range of classes available so we cannot say they are suddenly "bad" when they play their druid or bard or whatever. Lets not post in anger. Lets consider the things we say publicly before we say them. Lets try be more constructive and maybe we can improve things rather than tearing things down.

I tried to hit the reply button to egnathephoenix's post, but I got a broken link, so I am doing it with a new post.

Quit your dam* whining!!!

Cobalt Scar is a quad kiting zone. If you don't like it, find another place to play. What do you want? There are hundreds of other zones in the game. There are eighteen other zones in Velious alone. This just happens to be a quad kiting zone. Suck it up!! If you want a zone where you can camp a static spawn, go find one.

You make me embarrassed to play a druid, you big baby. Geez, does your mommy still wipe for you?

Howdy all, this is my first post, and if the history of this country's reaction to the first amendment is any indication,it could be my last.let me first say that i enjoy EQ tremendously;however, only in american can a company such as Sony sell a game to people, charge them for a membership, allow so called "veterans" or "uber"players to run roughshod over newer players ingame, and like ***** threaten to take your account (that youve busted your *** to pay for) if you react to said "veterans" or "uber" players. i play a 55 druid ,and while im no saint...( ive lost my temper quite a few times playing EQ) i must say that the WORST and i meant THE ABSOLUTE WORST players ive encountered or have had problems with ,sadly have been the so called "quad classes". And cobalt scar is the worst place to play because of these idiots. You storm wardens or forest stalkers or whatever it is youre called, make me ashamed to be playing a druid.simply because you have the ability to quad and kill every thing in the zone simply because you wanna make quick play or get rare gems or whatever...does not ...i repeat....DOES NOT give you the right to hog the whole damn zone away from players who are there for exp....And you GM,S who lord your authority over us to keep us in line so the "uber" players can have all the fun...(and you know damn well what im talking about),make it worse by telling us we have to just ignore it meanwhile continue to let them do as theyve always done....IM SICK OF IT!!!...pretty soon im going to stop caring about me account being suspended...seeing as how sony doesnt seem to care whether or not decent people are enjoying the game...now im not suggesting ill actually start training every zone on a daily basis just to get you to do something about the whole thing...(i like to think im not that rash :)...)but im sure there are (if im patient) other "legal" ways to make everyone elses gaming exp. just as mine seems to be lately....HELL!!!!

when fighting monsters, one must be careful not to become a monster himself....the crow....safe hunting to all :)

I well understand your situation. I am a 66 druid that quads here somewhat frequently, but I leveled here for about half a dozen levels quadding the wyverns.

There are some really good players that quad in this zone. Most of them seem to respond to even handed comments if they crowd you, and are usually quite polite. I have learned a lot watching a truly skilled player work the circuit here. I have seen some truly talented bards for example that I was in awe of.

However, that being said, there are a lot of idiots and axxholes out there. Being a druid, when one of them zones in, I just find a better place to go to. I don't feel like the hassle is worth it. Fortunately for me, I am high enough that I can find several good alternatives to CS.

In my experience, when one moves in, I clearly state that I am camping a certain area, and am happy to share, but ask them to leave my Mobs alone. If they refuse, I continue to ask, and eventually put in a complaint. I know the GM's will not do anything, but the complaints do get registered and when players start to demonstrate a pattern, there will be action taken, even if you and I don't observe it being done. The most powerful tool, if they wear their guild tag, is to report them to their guild leaders. That will often resolve the problem.

Lastly, when I am in a zone and a lower level character comes in and is polite, I often leave the area to them in remembrence of my experience at those levels. I usually buff them up and wish them well before I leave. It is amazing how often you run into people who remember even a small kindness.

All in all, there are idiots everywhere. I just try not to out-do their idiocy, not an easy task at all times...

Hope you have better luck in the future, there are lots of really nice people out there in EQ!

Hey, my rating just made you a scholar... grats. >.<

I think I actually got tears in my eyes reading your post (remembering how things were when I started)! There were many people like you in Norrath when I started playing EQ. WHERE did you all go?! I've let months pass by without logging on because I just didn't feel like it anymore. Playing became a hassle! Things have improved a little since the mergers, but it's just not the same EQ I started playing. Just last week I was in RM with a beastlord friend working on his 1.5 & WITNESSED someone come in & tell the ONE (yes, there was just ONE) person farming HGs that it was time to leave 'cause he'd already been there awhile! I was in awe of his polite, calm response... as I would have immediately shouted "STFU dr00d & go farm pelts in WW!" despite playing one myself. (The person farming HGs was a magician iirc.) Anyway, that's what it's come to... my BS tolerance has dropped to 0%. & it's a shame that the majority of these people ARE druids & bards. Despite playing the class, it's become hard not to jump to conclusions when I see a druid headed my way. What's this Norrath coming to? /sigh

High Priest Margle is confirmed a new mob in Othmir camp. Cedrick a human of some sort is on the cliffside by old entrance to Skyshrine. Finally another mob with the last name of "Greenthumb" is hiding out in a sunken ship in Cobalt Scar sea. All three have little or nothing to say to a lvl 65 druid from tunare. I've been finding new mobs all over the place from zone to zone and I'm starting to think they are either task inquiry mobs or steps in Epic 2.0. Please fill in blank here _______ !!!

If people **** you off quading just start using annul magic on their mobs, It will cure it quick. I did this to a druid that DCed a mob my ranger was on in PoN. He died fast.
RE: Quad
# Apr 27 2005 at 1:25 PM Rating: Decent
I used to dire charm a rat in Crypt of decay with my 70 chanter. He would get lots of poisons and disease from the varous mobs there. I tried to "cure" him by casting Cleric AA spell Purify on the charmed rat. Oops. Dire charm dropped and rat started to kill group. So Cancel magic and Purify kinda have the same effect for getting even on a Kill Stealer player character...getting even.

So just because someone is quading thats wrong? If they ks or try to purposely train you thats one thing but they do have the right to quad. Anyway its not just druids that quad seen a higher lvl cleric doin it one day they did nicely. That person ran into me with there mob's and made sure I was okay bfr running away with all there mobs.
re:Quadding jerks :(
# Dec 28 2003 at 5:40 AM Rating: Excellent
Now see, this is one of the things that just irks me more than practically anything else. I have a 55 druid, and I have NEVER trained over anyone, with the possible exception of going over the top of a hill, or around the backside of something and stumbling into someone accidentally. And then I have done my damnedest to keep them alive. Everyone pays for this game, and no one has the right to ignore common courtesy and hinder someone else's game out of selfishness. Quadding and taking all the mobs, running over people, "training" spots where other peeps are doing their thing-these are all things that make people hate druids (and other kiting classes, too, I know). Unfortunately, one of the other posters has it right-it seems that a lot of people who create druids have the "I can, therefore I WILL, and oh, by the way, STFU if it bothers your game" mentality when it comes to kiting, quadding, etc. /Sigh, please don't judge ALL those in a quadding class as total jerks, some of us really try to stay out of other people's range.

I think the main reason this is primarily a quading zone and not a grouping zone is because it is tough to get here without a port, and no shops around to sell to or anything. But both quadding classes have ports so it's not a problem for them. Hence: good quadding zone.
Just a thought. For the record.
RE: Reason for no groups
# Oct 14 2004 at 6:38 PM Rating: Decent
For all your info im a 59 druid that doesn kite due to many to do it safely in most zones ive played in. And as to being kited over the ones that do it to me most are bards and all say stuff it if you dont like it. Most druids i know are carfull and like to help. So if you want to give a good way to stop run-overs could you tell me what to do to the bards doing it? And remember folks druids heal port and nuke too not just kite and it would be nice if some would remember it and not wine about a class instead of jerks in it like all classes.

Back to lurking and rant off all take care
RE: Reason for no groups

there is too merchants here, you just need to have good faction with the othimirs, kill some walruses in ew and you can use bloogy shell cracker or what ever his name is, in the little camp with all the warriors and shamen closer to the port in place, away from the chief guy
RE: Reason for no groups
# Jul 21 2003 at 9:52 PM Rating: Decent
It's also a quadding zone because there are a lot of static mobs, only a few roamers, and lots of open spaces without adds for quadding. The mobs also are not very resistant to snare, which is what gets a quadder in trouble. But the fact that it's easy for quadders to get there helps too.

Go kill Ulthorks, from what I understand, faction goes up pretty fast, so you wont' have to kill a million of those things to get at least decent faction again (aka: non-KOS)

His answer was in regards to the original question, which was "does wolf form raise your faction" So, in essence his answer of "no, it lowers your faction" was correct.

Wolf form actually lowers your faction in regards to the Otter folk.
