this spell is for those of you who want a different kind of skelly pet. yes, it is true your pet is already a skeleton, but this turns it into a bluer skeleton, hence the name Chill bone :P

They should have given this spell at 59 or later

If this spell is only useful to necros with spectre pets, why is it given so early? They should have waited to give out this spell at a higher level and given low level necros something they can actually use at the time.

Because a lot of people hate the sound that a spectre pet makes....... Constantly.... This is the solution....... As well Necro's need to re-identify with spells.....
what was the point?

High level necros (59+) have specter pets. This is a big help for them.

is this the spell that makes you ( nerco) into a skellie or is it for the pet since it states target pet?

Look at the description data please:
Target Type: Pet

Its an illusion to cast on your pet.

Use it to turn your higher level spectre pets into the form of a skeleton.
I can't see any beneficial stats for the pet when used.

Kinda useless in other words.

It gets even more confusing. When mem'd it shows as a red
outline spell. Those tend to be spells that can be cast on
others. Well, I tried casting it on a friends pet, it went to
my pet. I suppose I have too little experience with spells to
say this with certainity but it seems like it should be a different
color if it only works on my pet.

All single-target spells will be on a red gem once memorized. pet heals and pet buffs are examples of single-target spells just like "bind afinity" which is a single-target spell, but the target must be in your group.

Also, spells that are pet only will only land on *your own* pet and will therefore auto-target your pet as you cast them.

As for this spell, if it only makes high level necro pets look like skellies, I don't know why it's available at level 16... however, if they made it so we can cast it on ourselves, it would at least be mildly entertaining.
