Level of effect

Hello Im still unclear on one point at what level can a character take full advantage of an items haste. For instance will a level one warrior wearing a cowl of mortality be able to use the items full 36% haste effect at level one.

The reason I am asking is I have heard that you cannot take full advantage of an items haste effect until you are one level below or the same level of the items haste percentage. So for example if its 36% haste then you must be level 35 or 36 to take advantage of the full 36% effect.

I was always under the impression that if its worn with no rec/req you get the full effect at level one on. Thanks for any input on this.

I like haste...

More clarification. There are four types of haste.

Worn Haste. Several items have innate haste modifiers. While these items are equipped/worn, you get the HIGHEST haste effect modifier, no matter what the name of the effect is.

Spell/Song Haste (v2 haste) - This is all spell haste, clicked item effects, weapon procs, and most song hastes. Note: I have actually managed to have three v2 hastes on at the same time: one bard, two enchanter. In this case, as with worn haste, the highest haste modifier will take effect. However, you will still get the stat bonuses, if any, from the other spells or song.

Song Haste v3 "over haste" - A few very rare songs do provide not only a third stacking haste, but a way to actually go over the haste limit. Since enchanter haste can go as high as 70%, this is a very good thing. Not only are the below mentioned songs v3, there are a few newer ones at very high levels with extra abilities and v3 haste.

Quiver Haste - Many quivers have weight reduction, which would seem pointless, as arrows are very light; except that the weight reduction of the quivers determines the additional haste you get from them. This haste only affects archery of course, but for rangers, that is probably the best kind of haste.

...and I have ranger, shaman, enchanter, and bard, so I know a little about haste.
Haste stacking - a fifth type?

*augmentation* worn haste ....

I will fully admit I don't entirely understand how haste works. However I do know the whole worn items/spells etc stacking thing from another standpoint.

Just recently I discovered that my extended enhancement worn item (a belt), my EE aa's (the usual cleric line) were *both* stacking with my don extended enhancement worn augmentation.

I didn't expect this (I planned to swap out the belt since I'd bought the aug), and I only discovered it by accident when casting my Conviction and seeing it was longer by another 15% than I expected it to be.

So I am wondering..could this also be possible for haste augs? There are don haste augs in the game....

Just some FYI--

Remember when you were level 1 and you casted your burst of flame and it did 10 damage, then at level 50 you casted and it does (just estimating) 18 damage.

Your spells increase in power as you level this goes also for beneficial spells like sow/haste/hp/ac buffs/heals. If you ever get a sow from a 65 Druid or Shaman, then race someone with a sow from a lvl 14 druid. You are going to dust the kid with the low level sow.

Want to keep the strongest on you?

A lower level spell even the same spell wont overwrite a higher level of the same spell.

In english now. When I was a newbie druid only lvl 20, half the time when I casted sow on someone it wouldn't stick. This was because a higher level druid/ranger/shaman had sow'd them, and the game wouldn't allow my weaker sow to overwrite. At 65 I can sow anyone anytime as long as they dont have a SoE or a different movespeed spell (wolf form or shammy).

Everyonce in a while you'll be in PoK and you'll notice the chanters request you drop your Old KiE before getting a new one. Your going to notice that usually the ones that request you to do that are the lvl 60 chanters, who dont want the buff to "bounce" off another KiE that you may have gotten from a higher level chanter.

Just a little more fyi.

On Allakazam and Lucy the item descriptions only give the raw spell data for "Haste". It does not show you the actual level of the spell on that item.

When you see an item has "haste" it's just saying that this spell is basically capible of increasing your haste 2-50% dependant on the level of the spell. Which if casted by a person is based on the persons level, but if it's on an item each item has it's own spell level. In english meaning you can have 2 items with haste and one item is lvl 21 haste and the other is lvl 35 haste, one would be stronger than the other. The item with the higher level will overwrite the smaller exactly like the situation I explained above with the SoW.

For a long time I had a weapon that proced a 50 hp dd spell... As I levelled that proc didn't get any stronger, although all my personal DD spells did increase slightly in strenght. No matter what level you are an item with a spell proc is always going to proc / perform at the same level no matter what your characters lvl is. Unless there is a required or recommended level on an item it doesn't matter what lvl the user is.

Off Hand??
# Oct 31 2003 at 10:42 AM Rating: Decent
How would I calculate off hand weapons, and how is dual wield factored into the equasion? I have a Runed Bolster Belt (%31) Defenders Lightblade (22/34 primary)and Scimatar of Emerald Dawn (20/34 secondary) so here is what I have so far:

[(damage * 2) + Bonus] / (HDelay / 10)
HDelay = Delay/(1+Haste)

Lightblade = [(22*2)+0] \ [(34/1.31) / 10] = 16.9530

Emerald Dawn = [(20*2)+0] / [{34/1.31} / 10] = 15.411

Is this correct? My understanding is that when you roll for your primary weapon you roll for dual wield, if successfull you roll on the secondary. Then you roll for damage. Can someone please explain how this works if I'm wrong?

First, I'm not even sure what those equations are supposed to be calculating. DPS? It definately is not the hasted delay of the weapons.

Hasted delay works as follows:

effective delay = delay/(1+haste as decimal)

so for your situation

ED =34/1.31
ED = 25.9 rounded up to 26

If that is supposed to be DPS, its not that simple, as factors such as current skill with weapon, attack rating, str buffs all affect how much damage the same weapon does. You could have 2 level 50 rangers, both with these weapons, and one could do 30% more damage, if they had raid buffs, and/or better gear.

Also, on the other comment, about dual weild is definitely not the way it works. Your primary hand has NOTHING to do with whether you swing on dual wield.

Every 3.4 seconds (2.6 with haste) your secondary hand is going to do a dual weild roll, to see if you swing. This happens regardless of whether your primary hand is ready to swing yet. Put a wurmslayer in primary (40 delay) and your secondary will still check every 3.4 seconds unhasted. Throw a jade mace in secondary, and it will check every 1.8 seconds, even with that 40 delay weapon in primary.

Primary and secondary delay are NOT LINKED in any way.

I just want to get things straight in my mind. Being a warrior, if I were soloing I would only be able to use/benefit from one haste item at a time. (assuming I'm not buffed).

Or do some of the haste items give me haste in the form of a spell (effect haste), vs item haste? Meaning, do all the haste items listed below give me haste in the same manner? If they don't then potentially I could use two items which proc different 'types' of haste and benefit from both effects.

I'm looking at buying a haste item(s) and want to get this clear before I do.

Thank you.

Worn haste WILL stack with haste spells (i.e. Celerity, Swift like the Wind, etc). My question is, if the bard haste song & caster haste spells stack, does the worn haste also stack with these or can you only have the benefit of two haste effects at one time? (i.e. I have Shadowy Assassin Sash (26%), enchanter’s Swift Like the Wind spell (60%), and bards Jonthan's Provocation song (50%), do I get all three to the maximum amount I can possibly have or would the bard’s song take over the sash)
RE: Haste Question
# Apr 24 2003 at 2:35 PM Rating: Default
haste that says (worn) will not stack with eachother, if you have multiple worn haste items only the highest one will take effect. Worn haste WILL stack with spell haste, spell haste btw only effects casters, and the speed of their casting.

Maybe I am reading this wrong

"Classes:
None
Description:
1: Increase Attack Speed by 2% (L1) to 50% (L49)"

The way I see it is that Haste is like all the rest of the enhancements in the game. no item has better haste then any other Haste is Haste the % depends on the level of the character using it. If not then it would seem that allakazams database is wrong but I can only assume that this information is pulled directly from the game files like EQCaster does. If that is correct then there are ALOT of misconceptions that will change the price of ALOT of items in the game. and that will solve the alot of disputes on this. NOW if anyone wants to take the fancy math they have been doing and let us know what % haste there is for every level that would be nice.

RE: Not to sure about this??
# Mar 19 2003 at 10:00 AM Rating: Good
Ok, the 2%-50% is based upon the spell data files. So for instance, you have a level 20 enc cast a haste spell on you, and you have a level 65 enc cast the same haste spell on your friend. You and your friend are the exact same level, with exact same gear, and same skills. Your friends haste will be alot more % wise than the one cast on you because of the level of the person casting the spell. Same goes for other spells like sow and the shielding line of spells, they get better, up to certain point, as you level.

Now, the effect on the items, if it is worn effect, does not follow these same rules. It merely has a fixed amount of haste on it, it doe NOT get better as you gain levels. If it is triggered, ie, either proced or clicked, then yes it will follow the same general rules for all spells. This only happens when you can click or proc it at levels below when the spell maxes. Seems to have been nerfed now with the recommended and required level restrictions for alot of procing and trigered items.

Ok...for haste; there are only 3 hastes that truely stack. The one from a item (only one), the spell from a caster (only one), and a bard song (only one)...

Thats it...those are it; doesn't matter what PCT they are; they all stack...but you can not have 2 item haste stack, or 2 caster haste, or 2 bard hastes...
RE: The way it works...
# Feb 27 2003 at 4:19 PM Rating: Good
You can have 2 bard hastes, and no they don't all stack. It is very important to note WHICH songs are playing when you say the all stack, only certain one will... not ALL.

item + bard song ...yes
item + spell ..yes
item + spell + Special bard songs...yes
item + bard song + Special bard songs .. yes

spell and spell = no
spell and a normal song = no

I just recently began my first warrior. He is about to hit level 20. My main is a 52 druid, so I am capable of twinking him a little 8)

Just curious, though, how do items overwite eachother? Does the greater Haste overwrite the weaker, or does this first/ last one equiped overwrite the others (if this is the case, how does it work at login)?

I apologize if I am asking an impossible question. lol I don't know how the haste % was figured out by y'all in the first place. Must have been hours of comparing dps or hits per second...

Somehow, I am actually surprised at everything there is to learn about being a warrior... I always thought it was much simpler! From controlling to hold (or not hold) agro, to dps, to which of the 4 prime stats to raise, and how to single pull well, there's alot! Thought most warrior strategy seems to be gear oriented, I don't look at warriors the same anymore, because gear strategy seems to require a lot more calculation and extensive game knowledge than spell strategy 8)

I also once thought the casters would make the best leaders of a group, but now that I realize the (obvious) point I missed before, I realize warriors see what is ahead in a dungeon, and around corners well before casters. Warriors know what is coming up, and thus should be the leaders of the group in order to plan and coordinate accordingly. I give mana reports much more regularly now with my druid, when in group, than I used to, and also keep buffs up better because I now realize how truly important they can be!

Anyway, this post will prolly be rated down now for going beyond the question I was asking, but thank you if you can answer. Also, hats off to warriors who have dealt with those casters who don't truly understand the mechanics of a warrior's position in group. Things that seem obvious from one end can be elusive from the other, and dealing with it must take alot of patience... Gawd I feel like a noob again lol.

Yes, only the highest item haste value is considered if you're wearing several (lucky be you). However, haste can accumulate as described in the posts above with songs and spells.

Okay, here we go...

There are only 3 kinds of haste that are stacked:

1) Item Haste: an item you are wearing that has haste as a permanent effect. You can wear multiple items that have Haste, but only the best haste is counted. This is so you can wear this belt and a cloak of flames and get all the wonderful stats, but you only get the 41% haste from this belt.

2) Effect Haste: a spell effect or song effect, you know, the kind you see an icon representing the effect? Most haste spells cancel each other out as that is the way of spells (the stronger version ovrewrites), and the song effects overwrite each other aswell (as far as i've seen, have yet to see some stack). You CAN have a song and a spell effect BOTH on you at the same time, but just like items, only the best haste is taken into account. This is so you can still have the bard songs neat little bonuses (like ac, str, atk, etc.)

3) Monk Discipline: the Monk receives a discipline that allows them to have a haste bonus that stacks with both other forms of haste. This is considered a 20% haste, tho i do not know if it has been CONFIRMED, so dont quote me on that one. When they introduced disciplines they added a new system for melees, with its own counter and all that jazz.. which means it is outside the realms of stacking issues... This haste DOES stack with anything.

Now as for haste caps:

Pre 50: Your haste cap is around 80% (i am not completely positive on this one, so if someone knows for certain, please post the real cap)

Post 50: Your haste cap increases to 100%.

There are a lot of misconceptions about haste.
The way a person figures out how much haste an item or spell has, is by logging a series of attacks. They count the amount of attacks over a period of time without haste, and then with haste. Then they divide the amount with haste by the amount without. That gives a number like 1.? and the ? is the % haste of the item.
example:
without - 20 attacks in 1 minute
with - 24 attacks in 1 minute

24 divided by 20 = 1.2 = 20% Hasted

So.. what is the new delay on the weapon/s?
Well... to figure that out, take the Haste %, add 100, divide 100 by that new number, and multiply the delay of the weapon with that final number.
Confused? Don't worry, here it is in formula:
Lets say a weapon that is 10/20 (for simplicity) and 50% haste.

100 + 50 = 150
100/150 = 0.666~
20 * 0.666~ = 13.333~ so 13 delay

A side note on delays, pre 50 the lowest a weapons delay can be is 10, no matter the haste. Post 50 it can go lower. This is something i'm not completely positive about, and if anyone can confirm please post. But i'm pretty sure monks can get their hands to 9/8 weapons at lvl 60 with full haste and CF.

Most of what is in this post has been proven over and over by testing. The only things i'm not POSITIVE about is the haste of the Monk Discipline and the lowest delay pre/post 50.

If a monk has this belt (~40%) and Celestial Fists (~40%), he has his pre 50 haste cap of 80%.
At lvl 57, with the discipline, he can have 100% haste for 15 seconds, thats without any outside help.

Oh, and Celestial Fists right click EFFECT haste is a 9 second song effect. Due to a recent patch, the effect stacks with things properly now, (you still only get best effect haste), and the haste will only stack with the item and discipline haste.

Sorry for the long post, but it seemed a lot of people needed some clarification on this issue.
Please post if anything i said is wrong, and please explain the testing behind it.

Hope this clears things up a little :)

GREAT post, Sarlit. I only hope it is also posted in some more places for the benift of many others. I have'nt looked, but I think it would be apreciated in some of the discusion topics as well. (No better place than under haste though)=)

I can confirm the percentages posted for the Velium Swiftblade, and Silver Chitin Hand Wraps, (only two haste items I have) using the equation formula you maped out for us. with mild testing using that method, the results were conclusive to within 1% variation (my VS must be getting rusty =).
