this spell gets overwritten by Dark posession. Also This spell does not overwrite Dark posession... Is it really better ? anybody know why it gets overwritten by an "inferior" spell?
I'm not sure if it works on all spells, but on my 56 necro when I start to recast Lich it automatically cancels the Lich that I already have on and proceeds to cast the new Lich. So if that is how this spell is coded, when you begin to cast DP then GP automatically gets taken off.
Agreed! i dont even have dark possession been ok with SoS (which is still better then kei) just got this spell a few minutes ago, so thats a jump up of 22 mana a tic for me (also have 9 mana regen from gear), combine a drog with that and im now regenning 102 mana a tic...and before with SoS i didnt drop below 90m...thanks Sony i like this spell

Xislaben U Are what we call in Everquest as a tard. both Dark Possetion and this one are Upgrades that are worth the time it takes. u are just upset u cant buy it.

This spell is also the reward of (at least one of) the quests available in Sverag, from the first red mob you see after you bash down the front door.

I personally thought this "alternate" method of getting the spell was much quicker and easier, as the drops come from duo-able (necro soloable) blue mobs near the DL/EFP ZL.
Edit/add: This also enables a rather handy bypass of Dark Posession -- so if you can live without Word of Chaos, then you only need to farm three glowing runes.

Cool spell and all, but umm, why does it say Theoretical max unadjusted DPS: 16 Are necros worried about how much dps they can wrack up on themselves???

This is a cut and paste with extra info added from my mission.
In the zone Devistation (or any Plane of Rage zone), which is off of East Freeport (click a statue in the rooms beyond the arena in the norhtern part of the zone) there are tons of mobs. Some of these mobs drop a NO DROP item that's like a skin sample.
Upon looting the first item, a personal task pops up in your task list called Saga Skins.
You have to loot 8 additional items
Hand all 9 one at a time into Grand Librarian Maelin in POK
Get 9 pages back
Combine the resulting 9 pages in a Book Binding
And recieve one of your PoR spells.
For us necros it's Grave Pact, our new lich!
What mobs drop these drops?
Only the red con mobs.
They will sometimes drop 2 copies of the skin from one mob (yay for another group member).
What types do you need?
( ) Bolvirk (Scarred Bolvirk Skin)
( ) Undead (Mumified Pigmented skin)
( ) Kobold (Patch of Dyed Kobold Fur)
( ) Orc (Torn and Tatooed Orc Flesh)
( ) Evil Eye (Inked Evil Eye Hide)
( ) Wurines (decorated Wurine Hide)

skins quest in devastation...loot any skin off of a red con mob in devastation and you automatically get the quest (collect 9 different skins and do some combines/turn-ins).

I don't understand what all the fuss is about this spell, if you run the numbers it is still an upgrade in every respect (including the color).
Grave Pact Hitpoints per Mana: 1.23 hit points lost per point of mana gained
Dark Posession Hitpoints per Mana: 1.30 hit points lost per point of mana gained
Now if my eyes do not decieve me, that is less hit points lost per point of mana gained than Dark Posession. So, therefore, not only does this spell regenerate your mana FASTER (by 7 points per tick), but it is also more efficient than the previous lich, and only drains your HP marginaly faster. Not only that, but it's also really cool looking.
Since it is clearly better than the previous lich in every way, then why isn't everybody singing high praises about it? Seems pretty darn good to me.

Not all of us have been playing this game for 7 years. And we're not all in top end raiding guilds either. I've been using Seduction of Saryn since I got it, and have not yet managed to get a single glowing rune towards my 70 lich, so this is a great upgrade for folks like me.

not sure why you think this is a crappy upgrade?? its only 7 mana per tick but only drains 4 more hp per tick. more than enough imo in conjunction with gift of mana as our only mana draining spell now is dread pyre

Agree with ya 100% Thacleaver. I'm getting so tired of people crying about and saying all of these new spells are just crap. Fer hells sakes, with this lich and with almost no FT you will be regening mana over 100 per tick. When the other casters that are using Kei and are regenning at around 30-40 mana a tick see you guys ******** about having 100 mana a tick I hope they slap some sense into you. So what if the last one was 7 mana less... It still means 7 mana, and that is quite a nice little boost.
(Hey I still want it even if the 'upgrade' is pretty low compared to most previous ones)

Second worst lich upgrade right after the worst lich upgrade Dark Posession.
But at least its red!
Well, using the epic pet models was the easiest and most ghetto way for the devs to give necros a unique look since the halloween quest let everybody be a skeleton (same model as Call of Bones).

Laf, I think you remember wrong.. this is a necro spell, the upgrade to Dark Possession.
i saw this as a proc from a caster drake in creator mission, popped up on my chat window
