Dot's Vs DD's

Okies here is the comparison raw data first
Vengance of the Wild is 2.39 Damage per Mana point
Starfire is 2.44 Damage per Mana point
ok so far Its the DD
Vengence takes 4 Seconds to cast
Starfire takes 6.1 Seconds to cast
ok so i can cast Vengance quicker
Vengance is a reuse of 24 Seconds
Starfire is a reuse of 2 Seconds
ok so i can reuse Starfire quicker, but wait it doesn't matter about Vengance reuse it lasts for 30 seconds! (pain if the spell is resisted, but oh well)
Vengance has a check of -30 fire
Starfire is a check of 0 fire
ok so less likely to get resisted, thats a good thing!

Ok now down to the info ... in all on its own yes the DD's are better, but think of this. with the shorter cast time you can be sat (or on your mount) for 2 extra seconds medding, you can get a less resist rate. also because its a dot it is less likely to directly break your root!
bassically dots are great for use in solo, you snare and root a mob up the sequencially cast through your dots, stacking damage over times on them, if you are good at timing you can bassically keep about 6 dots and a root oon the mob, with the shorter cast time on dots, you can basically deal much more damage overtime.
my personal opinion is that Damage over time spells should actually deliver a more efficent method of killing something (from a mana perspective) but that is just the way i feal

The differance is that the dots can be stacked, so that you can DD and dot at the same time.

If you are doing 150 dmg + 100dmg + 75 dmg + 60 dmg + 55 dmg (all of my dots), then you get 340dmg per tic (aint to shabby). Then you nook and the mob is dead b4 u know it. Also, you can med between castings and while the mob is rotting.
