Yeah, I missed that when I posted the recipe. When the 69 DoN spells went in they forgot to pull the no trade flag, but they do plan to change it in one of those many post release patches we all love.

Its a spell given for DoN progression. I use this far more than the old snare spells and I have them all. It is rarely (uber rarely) resisted so it is great for soloing Vxed where I find the old snare is resisted about 40% of the time. Unless the mob is protected from run speed changes, you can land this one on them.
If your kiting job is gonna take longer than 3 minutes, then resnare with this one, or use your old snare (level 29) at your convienence. The old 29 spell will overwrite this one.

DoN Progression:

Good

Quote:

The Norrath's Keepers camp can be found in the Lavastorm Mountains tunnels leading to The Broodlands.

In order to begin more advanced tasks within the Norrath's Keepers camp, you must be of indifferent faction or higher. You can reach this faction by doing various solo or single group tasks.

Wayfarers Mercenaries Bitral and Elanye give out solo tasks on behalf of the Norrath's Keepers while Kanetheus Forestwalker, Bianca Galbraith, and Boldger Bristlebeard offer single group tasks.

Upon completing these tasks, you receive a number of Radiant Crystals (droppable and used to purchase items from Tatsujiro the Serene) and a Norrath's Keepers Token. The Token can be turned in to Wayfarers Mercenary Youra for the following faction hits:

+Norrath's Keepers
+Firiona Vie
-Dark Reign
-Lanys T`Vyl

Upon reaching indifferent faction, you are able to do more advanced missions for the good side, provided you are at least level 65.

Begin by speaking with Chieftain Relae Aderi.

You say, 'Hail, Chieftain Relae Aderi'

Chieftain Relae Aderi nods his head in acknowledgement and smiles. 'Welcome to the Norrath's Keepers' enclave. We are busy protecting the way of the right and honorable now. Our world is at a crossroads and we must endeavor to ensure we maintain order as much as we can. Should you wish to [help] us, do say so.'

You say, 'I wish to help you.'

Chieftain Relae Aderi says 'Those are encouraging words and we will gladly take your offer. Please see Nylaen Kel`Ther, my trusted friend. While his tasks may not seem glorious, they are necessary for us to gain a foothold against the Dark Reign, the followers of Lanys T`Vyl, the Child of Hate. They have their grim eyes set on seeing the end of us all. To begin, from the volcano, we need ingredients to create an antidote, help collecting Delvian teeth for our arrowheads, and handling goblin greed in the Stillmoon Temple. When you satisfy these needs, then we shall speak again.'

You have received a character flag!

Now talk with Private Nylaen Kel`Ther, next to Chieftain Relae Aderi. Note that you must be at least level 65 to receive the tier 1 quests.

You say, 'Hail, Private Nylaen Kel`Ther'

You have been assigned the task 'Creating an Antidote'.
You have been assigned the task 'Burning Arrows'.
You have been assigned the task 'Greed of the Goblins'.

Private Nylaen Kel`Ther says 'We all have the opportunity to rise to greatness with Norrath's Keepers and our honorable allies across the lands.'

The tasks are as follows:

"Creating an Antidote" -- Loot five Boiling Lavaspinner Bloods from Lavaspinner's Lair
"Burning Arrows" -- Loot five Delvian Goblin Teeth from Tirranun's Delve
"Greed of the Goblins" -- Kill 11 Stillmoon Laborers in Stillmoon Temple

Upon completing these tasks, speak with Chieftain Relae Aderi, and then to Keeper Dilar Nelune. You will receive a single-group task. (What level and/or what minimum faction must you have to receive this quest?)

"Children of Gimblax" -- You must hunt down and kill the goblin Gimblax in Stillmoon.

Upon completion of this task, speak with Chieftain Relae Aderi to receive two AAs and a new ability: "Gift of the Keepers" -- a maximum stats increase of 10 per stat.

Speak with Private Nylaen Kel`Ther and receive three solo tasks:

"Turn the Tides of the Sand" -- Loot seven Sandy Goblin Bloods from Stillmoon Temple
"Recover the Lost Map" -- Loot eight Shredded Map Pieces from The Ascent
"Defend the Kirin Contact" -- Kill nine Kirins in The Ascent

Upon completing these tasks, you can speak with Keeper Dilar Nelune to receive a group mission called "Sickness of the Spirit."

After that, speak with Lieutenant Ekiltu Verlor to be offered your first raid event:

"Calling Emoush" -- 24-player raid in Tirranun's Delve, results in Glowing Stone Fragment

Loot the Glowing Stone Fragment from Emoush the Destroyer and bring it to the Chieftain. Hail him and you will receive the following:
-Two AAs
-Valor of the Keepers (250 hp/mana/end)
-Your 69th level spell/tome.

The Dark Reign camp can be found in the Lavastorm Mountains tunnels leading to The Broodlands.

In order to begin more advanced tasks within the Dark Reign camp, you must be of indifferent faction or higher. You can reach this faction by doing various solo or single group tasks.

Wayfarers Mercenaries Varein and Jeryx give out solo tasks on behalf of the Dark Reign while those in the Dark Reign camp offer single group tasks.

Upon completing these tasks, you receive a number of Ebon Crystals (droppable and used to purchase items from Xeib Darkskies) and a Dark Reign Token. The Token can be turned in to Wayfarers Mercenary Limann for the following faction hits:

+Dark Reign
+Lanys T`Vyl
-Norrath's Keepers
-Firiona Vie

Upon reaching indifferent faction, you are able to do more advanced missions for the evil side..

Begin by speaking with Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar, who will send you to Officer Sirrikis Ryktor. You will receive three tasks:

"Blood of the Basilisk" -- Loot five Simmering Basilisk Bloods from Tirranun's Delve
"Clearing the Path" -- Kill eight Stillmoon Drakes in Stillmoon Temple
"The Burning Poison" -- Loot five Caustic Lavaspinner Venoms from Lavaspinner's Lair

Upon completion of those tasks, speak with Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar to receive a character flag. You will then need to talk to Officer Vacax Rol`Tas for a mission:

"Have Note Will Travel" -- Kill (how many?) goblins in Tirranun's Delve to spawn the Goblin Task Master. Kill the Task Master and loot the Letter from Tirranun. You will now have to kill nine Goblin Guards in various parts of the zone. Upon doing so and zoning out, your task is completed. You receive 33 Ebon Crystals.

Return to the Dark Reign camp and give speak with Commander Zaerr Ty`Dar to receive the following:

-Two AAs
-New ability, Gift of the Dark Reign (enables you to increase maximum of stats by 10)

Head back to the Commander and speak with him. This will flag you for the next step in progression. You will also get flagged for the Tirranun raid (not required for progression).

Speak with Officer Sirrikus Ryktor and recive three tasks:

"Army of Stone" -- Loot five Animated Guardian Essences from Stillmoon Temple
"Blood from Sand" -- Loot seven Impure Goblin Bloods from Stillmoon Temple
"Reap the Kirin Mind" -- Loot three Pristine Kirin Brains from The Ascent

Head back to the Commander and speak with him to receive a flag. Now speak to Officer Vacax Rol`Tas, who gives you yet another mission:

"Drake Egg" -- In The Ascent, kill drakes until you are able to loot a Drake Egg. This will spawn a Goblin Guard at the zone-in. Kill him, and give the Drake Egg to Celrak Blightblood in the Lavastorm Mountains. Upon doing so, your task is completed and you receive 38 Ebon Crystals.

Speak with Captain Aleeth Zyrv to gain information on the Calling Emoush raid event.

"Calling Emoush" is a 24-player raid event in Tirranun's Delve. A fairly straight forward event, you need to kill Emoush's three guards and then take him out. Loot a Glowing Stone Fragment his corpse. Bring this to the Commander for a flag and:
-Two AAs
-Tenacity of the Dark Reign (250 hp/mana/end)
-Your 69th level spell/tome.

EDIT: It says "Sold at Vendors" at the top, but Mire Thorns is the one sold is the one for 120 points at the DoN merchants. Serpent Vines is only received from the progression above.

61 Snare
# Mar 14 2005 at 1:43 AM Rating: Excellent
Well I got the level 61 Snare from Don...and well I love it. Blows the old 29 one out of the water. nothing..even level 70 mobs.. is resisting it.

Granted, its only useable in group situations as kiting would suck to resnare every 3 min...

IMHO its great.

I do use it for soloing. The 15 minute snare over-writes this one.

Use this one for your initial snare to slow thier butts down, then re-snare with the duration one so you can kill them at your leisure.

I still us the 14 minute snare, you know the what is it lvl 29 druid snare, I tried these and in my opinion they blow.
Why Bother giving us a spell when there is one that weve had forever that works better..../sigh.
As far as resists...NEWS FLASH>>>>>These new snares get resisted the same amount and last 11 minutes less, so take your Chromatic SoE bull an shove it lol.
The way I look at it is Im a 70 Druid, nothing at all should resist my snare aka lvl 69 L33T snare and it should last longer then the snare Ive had forever.
But alas....Patch Day>>>>SoE has taken in consideration of new vs old spells and has taken liberty's to fix there wrongs your lvl 29 snare effect time has been reduced to 1 minute and will be resisted by every green mob in black burrow....wait for it, wait for it, its coming. jk

Anyways as I am still frustrated as to who the complete morons are that decide the spell's/spell effects on my "New" spells that are completely useless, Ill stick with something that worked and still works for me, when they continue to ***** me and my time with lame efforts, I am pushed closer and closer to WoW or any other online game.

My advice to SoE get your heads out of the sand and pay attention to what your doing, make the spells = to the toons lvl and power not a lame attempt to make your boss happy being the first one done with his/her project of the minute.
Remove the dam lvl limits on the DoN drops seeing as there usless to any toon except twinks anyways, anyone that can actully get exp by hunting in the zones most likely has better already, if not they can visit bazzar and get better cheap with better stats with no or lower required/reccomended lvls.
What a joke

You obviously have not used this snare much, it almost never gets resisted. The 29 snare is good for soloing or long fights as a back-up snare.

Thank you for discouraging others from getting this spell with your ignorance. It is one thing to not be certain, another to say it hasn't worked for me well, and ultimately, it is ignorant to make broad claims that may persuade others to follow your claim by not getting this spell, when 99% of the druids out there swear by this spell. Sorry if it offends, but you are WRONG. Try landing Ensnare in a raid zone and see if it ever sticks the first time. This one will, end of story.

Whine, whine, whine. Ever considered PvP servers? This spell is very welcome, first time i've landed snare in PvP for years.

If this is the spell that you get after you win a globe on the mini raid for DoN progression ... this is a pure ripoff. The lvl 61 spell is *nearly* the same.

The level 61 druid snare spell
  • Mire Thorns
  • also has chromatic resist check.

What is a chromatic resist? Never heard of that.
    RE: resist type
    # Apr 12 2005 at 10:25 AM Rating: Decent
A chromatic resist checks against whatever the mobs lowest resist is. For Example:

    Mob A has 20 FR, 100 CR, 100 PR, 100 DR, 100 MR

This spell would make its resist check against the fire resist of the mob.

    Mob B has 100 FR, 100 CR, 10 PR, 100 DR, 100 MR

This spell would make its resist check against the poison resist of the mob.

    Hope this helps.
    RE: resist type
    # Apr 15 2005 at 11:01 AM Rating: Default
I'm almost positive that chromatic refers to checking all resists for a failure. Meaning if you didn't have over 50 to your resist check it would fail. A spell with chromatic (-50) would land on anything that can't resist all of them, making it much, much harder to resist and requires a conscious effort to pump all resists instead of just MR, that's why it was mentioned that on PvP this spell is so useful. That is also why Psalm of Veeshan is referred to as a chromatic resist song.

neat, this has a chromatic type resist

anyone know if this is the only PC spell with that type of resist? Also, anyone have this spell and can comment on it?

There are probably other PC spells with it, the Druid epic 1.5 has it - not that anyone notices since the effect really doesn't do anything.

In any case, these spells are junk. A very disappointing effort by SoE.

BTW, Rangers get the identical spells at the same level.
