I FUIGURE IF YOU CANT BUY ANY PET SPELLS AND HAVE TO RESEARCH THEM IT WILL TAKE YOU APPROXIMATELY 50 ITEMS TO MAKE A LEVEL 44 PET SPELL:( YOU HAVE TO MAKE ALL THE PREVIOUS PET SPELLS TO GET TO LATEST ONE:( THIS SUCKS BIG TIME:(
Actually, the level 34 earth pet is on vendors, so you need 3 of those assuming no fails. One to scribe, two to make the 39 earth pet. Then you use one of the 39's to make the 44 earth pet. Oh, and if you are going to post incorrect information please don't use capslock, you already look bad enough.

This spell can be purchased from Ardtia Aughsan (LOC: -166.38, -240.91, 97.94) In Abysmal Sea. She has a lot of magician only reasearch spells.
To get to Abysmal Sea- Use any Wayfarers Camp Magus to get to Nedaria, then use the Nedaria Magus to port to Natimbi, Broken Shores. Take the boat to Abysmal Sea and look for the vendor on the Floating City.
Update: I also hear that ALL research based pet spells can be purchased in Katta Castellum. Reference is here but I haven't tested it personally as I'm KOS in Katta Castellum.

aye, he sells that spell (and alot more!). since the boats not longer working, you can use the magus in natimbi to travel to abysmal sea.
research was good in the old times. now, after tons of crappy patches, expansions and other s**t, there is no need anymore for this skill. thanks SoE, that you killed another cool part of EQ!
